Versar, Inc., together with its subsidiaries, provides various professional services to the government and private sector with solutions for infrastructure, facilities management, construction, environmental quality, defense, and homeland security needs. It operates in four segments: Program Management, Compliance and Environmental Programs (CEP), Professional Services, and National Security. The Program Management segment provides science, professional, engineering, and program management services. The CEP segment offers support for programs involving air, water, chemical, and transportation industries. This segment also provides support to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and other municipal entities to help with environmental compliance, biological assessments, and resource management. The Professional Services segment offers on-site environmental management and professional services to Department of Defense installations and industrial facilities. The National Security segment engages in the development, testing, and manufacturing of personal protection equipment; and the provision of materials testing services to the U.S. government and to private industries that manufacture chemical protective equipment and clothing, as well as other laboratory services, including evaluation of new chemical agent detection instrumentation, chemical agent decontamination and destruction techniques, site remediation/environmental cleanup support, analysis of environmental samples of air, soil, and water, and testing of personal protective systems for component survivability. This segment also provides nuclear, chemical, and biological test and evaluation services to the West Desert Test Center. The company was founded in 1969 and is based in Springfield, Virginia.
