May we all become winners in our portfolios because of BTHB11.. hank
If it fits into my schedule- I would participate
I would be interested in a meet and greet.
I suggested to Mr Bobwins a month or two ago that we should possibly suggest another since the past two years have been pretty good years for most on I-hub. I am open for something like we did 3 years ago or any other ideas. I believe 10 bagger also suggested he was interested in another Meet and Greet in one of his last posts of the year.
tmcal6
It would be nice to get together again this year.
Is anybody interested in a spring meeting?
We could do casual or more formal with our own 2 days conference on investment. In case of a conference we can form a small commitee to put it together but it would take some time to do that.
Potential places:
Vegas
Florida
NYC (with wallstreet tour and some potential financial speakers)
Chicago (commodity exchange speakers)
Any place where we could tag along with a financial trade show.
Let's start a discussion going
This is going to be a good year for all of us.
Cheers
OK maybe next year. i go every year now. Never a problem finding someting to do in Vegas.
Have fun,
JFF7
I'm not going to make it this year, but have fun for me. Make sure you take in a show or two.
Yup I will be there. Leaving on Sunday for the week.
if your interested in getting a beer to talk stocks, let me know.
JFF7
OK, No need to work on January then- I'll concentrate on my Minneapolis trip
Looks like it will be discussed again later in January after the holidays.
tmcal6
so, are we putting this off, or going forward?
Reminder: open inviation to those that are not going to Vegas:
I lost a FFB bet to Ducky on Ihub, so meeting at the Ho-Chunck at 1pm (front bar) on the 14th of November. Another opportunity for an Ihub gathering <vbg>.
http://www.ho-chunk.com/
We plan to eat dinner at the Mossejaw around 5pm
http://www.dellsmoosejaw.com/
Let me know if you are planning to play, so I can make sure we have enough seats.
I'm hoping we get a lot of Ihubbers
Back to Las Vegas
Contrary to what I thought I was able to still find good hotel rates in Vegas for the 8-10 January. Rio $126, Mandalay $165, Luxor $110.
It is during the Consumer Electronic show and if you have never been there it is quite a good show to attend.
just a thought.
Not that I'm planning on attending on the Meet and Greet or anything (unless Lentinman does heeeheee)......
...but why would anyone want to go to Denver in the middle of January unless it's a ski trip or something of the like?
Living in Chicago I would look forward to a warm weather getaway in the middle of January.
Miami? Las Vegas? ...sumtin like dat.
DENVER – A slow-moving autumn storm showed no signs of letting up in Colorado and the western Plains on Thursday, blanketing areas already buried with as much as 3 feet, closing schools and businesses and delaying flights.
Roads across Colorado and Wyoming were snow-packed and icy from the first big winter storm of the season in the West, and the snow's not likely to let up anytime soon. The storm spread a blanket of white from northern Utah's Wasatch Front to western Nebraska's northern border with South Dakota.
I would prefer the latter date (15-16 Jan), as I'm attending this event 6-8 Jan. But depending on timing, I might be able to leave from Minneapolis direct without coming home to attend the 8-9 Jan meeting
http://www.northerngreenexpo.org/
will do. Bobwins
My mistake. Seems like we have equal interest and ability to attend for both weekends in January. So maybe we let the response from other invitees from the Motherboard, etc. determine which weekend will be selected. Let's all have a good week. Bobwins, do you mind making the general invite?
tmcal6
I could make either dates in January
Kipp,
You may want to check around Boulder and Evergreen. They have some nice small resorts with cabins in the area.
Maybe Bobwin could also find us a small mine to visit an get a talk from a couple of miners.
DG
I will get in touch with my friend and see what room rates, a conference room, and perhaps a sit down, or small buffet dinner would cost. I will report back here soon.
Kipp
If we end up with the 8-10 I could shorten the CES show visit and go directly to Denver from Vegas. I'll just have to walk faster in the show. :)
I do regret the fishing with 10baggers. I'll just have go visit him outside of the VMC meeting.
DG
To summarize, it looks like Denver is somewhat favored, January is definitely preferred, and we will have problems picking the weekend. Of the folks I contacted from the first M&G, it looks like MikeDDKIng and Cl001 will have problems attending. It looks like Bobwins, 10 bagger, Kipp, Just for Fun and I (tmcal6) can make it. Nsomniyak can't make it on January 15-17, and Timhyma and DigiTech can't on January 8-10. Pretty good interest from the original group. If I have made any mistakes in this post, let me know.
Anyway, I suggest we ask Bobwins to post on the Motherboard and Free for All board a general invite for a Meet & Greet II in Denver from January 15 - 17 sometime next week after a reasonable second thoughts/protest period. Frankly, I rather preferred Las Vegas with a little more to do and little chance of a weather problem, but Denver may entice Len to drive over from Kansas City, or wherever, and it is supposed to have 300 days of sunshine.
tmcal6
January 8-10 works for me, January 15-17 would not
Classes start back up on the 18th of Jan, so I might be able to do either weekend
8-10 of January is the Consumer Electronic Show in Vegas and I have to be there.
16-17 works for me.
It seems there is general support among the initial group of past participants to meet in Denver in January as the preference. Looks like Cl and MikeS will not be able to attend. We have not made a post on the Motherboard or Free for all Board yet which would probably generate more interest. Bobwins and I thought we should pick a location and a time frame among this group initially and then announce a plan for a location and date on the Motherboard and get all VMCers interested from there. While January and Denver seem to be supported, the exact timing is a question mark. I would suggest either January 8-10 or 15-17. Is there a preference? Does anyone object to Denver, January and this Process? Just trying to be democratic, or transparent or what the hell, just get this show on the road. Unless there are objections, I will suggest when we pick a date, Bobwins make a post on the Motherboard.
tmcal6
It would be nice if we could make some time for a more formal discussion with presenters. We have some very good people in our group and we could share their wisdom.
Regardless of the format, count me in.
Initial returns indicate there is enough interest for some kind of get together to happen.
Ditto
December is out of the question. January much better.
Denver would be fine.
JFF7 (Justforfun777@gmail.com)
If I can break away, Denver would be my preference. I have a buddy that lives in Highland Ranches I haven't seen in a couple years. Also, like after the holidays
WOW, activity on this board! I am in Denver and would volunteer to help. I set up the Dinner in Vegas last time and that went well. One of my friends is high up at the Sheraton down town and I bet I could get a smoking deal on rooms, meeting room, dinner, etc. December is out for me, mid January after all of the holiday hoopla should be a great time. Denver now has United, Frontier, and Southwest Airlines all trying to kill each other on fares.....cheap, cheap, cheap!(Bobwins likes that word) Denver is central and nobody would have a 5 hour flight.
Having said all of the above, I will go wherever the group decides to go as long as it is not in December.
I have not been as active posting on the boards due to the demands of my day job. I do read the boards nearly every day.
Best regards to all!
Kipp
I would definitely be interested. Vegas or Denver would work for me (am in the SF Bay Area, both are not that long a flight, have family and friends in Denver).
For me -- 2nd week of January is best, December is very do-able, 3rd week of january is out (my parents are coming out here then).
Assuming it was a date I could make, I'd volunteer to coordinate skiing in Denver or golf in Vegas :)
Vegas - November
I am headed back to Vegas in November for the Traders Expo again and a channce to get away and play some craps.
JFF7
Daytona Beach is great. I will be there for a Disney cruise in late Feb.
How many downriggers- I'm getting excited <g>.
I can hold 18 on my boat if you want to hold it near Daytonia Beach..hank
you charter all of us <vbg>.
The Florida Keys would also be great.. Fly into Miami and Rent a car.. Great fishing.. Low rates .. hank
December is a bad month due to pre-holiday parties. I would bet 1/2 of the people will have an other obligation regardless of the weekend you pick.
Personnaly I would prefer Vegas for the entertainment value. I think spouses would like it better too. The 9 and 10 of January would not work in Vegas since it is CES show time and all hotels are pretty much booked already. Anything available would be extremely expensive.
The weekend of the 16th / 17th in Vegas would be great.
A few of other places to think about:
Phoenix. Nice and warm great hotels/resort
Napa Valley. Great place but could hit a rainy weekend
Sedona Arizona. Beautiful place
I am game for any of them
I'm pretty much tied up in school until May next year, so a summer gathering would work better for me. I think someplace other than Vegas though- been there, done that <bg>. Maybe more mid-west so it is more central for everyone (and I could ride the motorcycle, lol).
One of these days I have to make it there. I was in the area last April but did not have any time.
Maybe when the ice melts. Being from LA it is hard for us to go to the cold country. :)
Cheers

Discussing our various options to Meet Face to Face and discuss our stocks.
Value Microcaps has been bringing together investors for several years. We have developed mutual respect and made a lot of money together. Now we think it's time to meet in person. Unlike individual stock boards who agree to meet after a stock takes off, we are continually sharing winners. So we would like to meet again and celebrate our picks and plops!!
