News: $UAL United Airlines Adds Florida Flights in Bid to Lose Less Money
More than five months into the COVID-19 pandemic in the U.S., air travel demand remains stuck at a fraction of 2019 levels. That's a big problem for airlines and their employees. The short-term payroll support program implemented in late March -- under which the federal government has covered mo...

Absolutely like UAL. $5 Billion mtg from frequent flyer miles. Great idea as many people never claim their miles.
United to Put Up Frequent-Flier Program for $5 Billion Loan
9:30 am ET June 15, 2020 (Dow Jones)
By Alison Sider
United Airlines Holdings Inc. will mortgage its frequent-flier program to secure a $5 billion loan from three banks as it seeks to build a cash cushion to see it through the coronavirus pandemic.
United said it expects to have $17 billion in total liquidity by the end of the third quarter.
That figure also includes a $4.5 billion government loan United is eligible for under the aid to airlines included in the broad stimulus package approved in March. United has until the end of September to decide whether to draw that loan, and said Monday that it believes it will be able to use slots, gates and routes as collateral.
The scramble for cash has been one of the biggest challenges for airlines in recent months, as the pandemic and the travel restrictions put in place in response caused travel demand to dry up.
United said Monday that it expects to slow its cash burn rate to $40 million a day in the second quarter and $30 million a day in the third quarter, as demand for travel has started to show signs of improvement. Still, the airline expects June revenue to be down 90% from a year ago and July revenue to be down as much as 88%.
Loyalty programs are a rich vein for airlines to secure cash. Co-branded credit cards associated with the programs essentially allow carriers to book revenue from a slice of all customers' spending. That comes in handy at times like this, when bookings have nearly dried up, but customers continue to use airline-branded cards for other purchases. United said its MileagePlus program generates over $5 billion in cash a year and is worth over $20 billion.
In past crises, airlines have pulled cash from these programs by selling big chunks of miles to their bank partners. But that comes with a disadvantage of cutting into future cash flows, United executives said Monday. The Wall Street Journal previously reported that airlines including United were considering selling miles to card partners to raise cash.
American Airlines Group Inc. said Friday that it intends to offer its frequent-flier program as collateral for a $5.8 billion government loan.
We are going to pass $50s last week, imo. The panicking sell off was due to the prediction of new wave of Wuhan virus after the protests, but I think people are over that now. Very optimistic looking ahead as UAL is ready for a full swing.
So has a 35% decline this week brought a fresh buying opportunity?
The RSI was overbought but has now found support on previous resistance.
Buyers bid step in before the close yesterday and European airlines have recovered strongly today.
I have included some upside resistance levels/targets to use during today's session.
Moving averages must also be considered as resistance having provided such reliable support
from the lows.

Going looking forward to riding this one up again
Absolutely picked up more today it’s a great opportunity!!
Another buying opportunity
Last time I missed buying more on the drop. Not going to miss buying this time. The lower profits were a no brainer for all airlines due the Covid restrictions. UAL will come back very strong. People want to get back to a normal life.
You still feeling it like you said...looking like it wants to hit where this madness started...$30.00...it might take longer than July...more like September or October as long as things don't get any crazier in our beloved country.
