GM has several e85 vehicles being produced with more coming. GM is also bringing over more e85 SAAB models from Sweden. Interestingly enough, Sweden has a large e85 market operating in that country.
This year FORD will have an E85 MUSTANG
WASHINGTON, D.C., Jan. 22, 2008 - Today at the Washington Auto Show and Automotive News World Congress in Detroit, Ford Motor Company announced its hot-selling compact SUVs, the Ford Escape and Mercury Mariner, will become more fuel efficient, more powerful and more connected for the 2009 model year.
Ford also announced that it is expanding its commitment to biofuels by adding three additional vehicles to its E85-capable flexible fuel line-up for 2009 - the E-Series van, as well as the standard and extended-length models of the Expedition and Lincoln Navigator SUVs. These additional product actions are part of Ford's sustainability strategy, which also includes high-volume introductions of EcoBoost gas turbocharged direct injection engines.
Speaking today at Automotive News World Congress in Detroit, Ford Motor Company President and CEO Alan Mulally met with industry leaders and media to share today's announcement and discuss how Ford is accelerating the development of new products and technologies customers want and value. Mulally also reaffirmed that Ford will reach benchmark levels of new or significantly freshened products, delivering a showroom with 70 percent new or freshened vehicles by the end of 2008 and 100 percent by 2010.
"This year, we make good on our commitment to freshen our showrooms," Mulally said. "We just introduced the new 2009 Ford F-150 last week, and it was a hit. We also have Lincoln MKS and Ford Flex coming, as well as a new Mustang early next year."
At the Washington Auto Show, Sue Cischke, Ford senior vice president, Sustainability, Environment and Safety Engineering, outlined the company's high-volume customer-focused strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve fuel economy.
"Ford Motor Company is increasing fuel economy and cutting greenhouse gas emissions with affordable technologies for millions of customers," said Cischke. "In the near term, we will leverage existing technologies to achieve those goals, including advanced engines and multi-speed transmissions. The 2009 Escape and Mariner are great examples of how we're delivering today."

The Pros of Buying an E85 Ethanol Vehicle
E85 ethanol flex-fuel vehicles have been available for years, but choices are broader than ever for 2007, with 27 different models for sale in the U.S. That's up from 20 for the 2006 model year, and just seven in 2000. GM offers 15 E85 ethanol flex-fuel models totaling about 400,000 vehicles. It offered nine models in 2006. Ford expects to sell 250,000 E85 ethanol flex fuel models this year. Clearly, E85 vehicles are growing in popularity and you might be asking yourself, "What's in it for me?"
E85 Vehicles Are Simple
GM identifies its E85 ethanol flex-fuel vehicles with "Flex Fuel E85" badges and yellow fuel-filler caps. Ford labels its E85 ethanol flex-fuel models with a tree-and-road logo and a decal reading "FFV," for Flexible Fuel Vehicle. The Chryslers, Dodges, and Jeeps display a silver "Flex Fuel E85" tag. E85 ethanol flex-fuel vehicles from Mercedes-Benz and Nissan do not carry any special identification.
The sticker on the fuel door (top) will let you know if your car or truck is E85
compatible. A yellow gas cap can be found on most General Motors'
E85-compatible vehicles (bottom) and indicates the same.
The surest ways to determine whether you may already have an E85 ethanol flex fuel vehicle is to consult your owner's manual or check for an identifying sticker inside the fuel door. A list of E85 ethanol flex fuel-compatible vehicles is also available from several Web sites, including fueleconomy.gov and e85fuel.com.
Though some estimates say it costs the manufacturer about $150 to make a vehicle E85-ethanol capable, no automaker charges extra for an E85 ethanol flex-fuel vehicle compared to its gasoline-only counterpart. Some flex fuel versions of engines are optional at extra cost, but it's the same charge as for the conventional gas version of the same engine. The Ford F-150 pickup is an example. Its base price is $18,220, but that's with a 202-horsepower 4.2-liter V6 engine, which runs only on conventional gasoline. To get E85 ethanol flex-fuel capability, you have to order the 300-horsepower 5.4-liter V8. The flex-fuel-capable V8 is a $1,645 option, but that's the same price as its gasoline-only counterpart.
E85 Is Just as Good as Gasoline
If you purchase an E85 ethanol flex-fuel vehicle, or discover you already have one, and choose to run it on E85 ethanol it won't require drastic changes in your driving habits. Any E85 ethanol flex-fuel vehicle can run on 100 percent E85 ethanol, 100 percent pump gasoline, or any combination of E85 ethanol and gasoline. The vehicle's on-board diagnostic systems adjust for any of these blends and keep it running according to manufacturer's specifications.
Neither should you notice a difference in vehicle performance using E85 ethanol compared to gasoline. E85 ethanol flex-fuel capability doesn't change the horsepower ratings of any of these engines. Their "flex fuel" capability means they have to run well on either type of fuel, so even though E85 ethanol carries an octane rating of 100-105, versus 85-95 for gasoline, manufacturers do not tune E85 ethanol-capable engines for higher performance than their gas-only counterparts.
Indeed, in a road test of an E85 ethanol flex-fuel Chevrolet Impala on both 87-octane gasoline and E85 ethanol, Consumer Guide's automotive editors could not detect a difference in engine performance, smoothness, or sound.
Some E85 ethanol proponents say the blend keeps fuel systems cleaner than gasoline, for potentially lower long-term maintenance costs. But GM and Ford have no special maintenance requirements for their E85 ethanol flex-fuel vehicles, but other manufacturers may require use of specific engine lubricants. Check your owner's manual or consult with your dealer. And if you're fueling up with E85 ethanol, share that fact with your dealer service department or parts supplier when ordering replacement parts.
E85 Vehicles Are Eco-Friendly
If your concerns run to America's energy independence and the environment, an E85 ethanol flex-fuel vehicle is one way to express it. Every mile you drive on E85 ethanol fuel is a mile you're not driving on conventional gasoline, and that prolongs the plant's stores of petroleum.
Vehicles fueled with E85 ethanol have lower carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide emissions than conventional gasoline or diesel vehicles, according to the U.S. Department of Energy. In addition, ethanol is water soluble, non toxic, and biodegradable. E85 ethanol also contains far fewer potential contaminants than found in gasoline.
December saw the price of E85 fall to $2.38 a gallon and $2.90 for basic unleaded compared to Novembers average E85 Price of $2.45 and $3.03 a gallon for unleaded .The National average price spread was 17.9 % for the month December.
Seventeen States reported average price spreads of at least 15% less for E85 than unleaded .Data Source December E85 Prices

States with the best E85 Prices for Month of December:
December was an outstanding month for consumers looking for cheap E85 as there were 17 States that offered E85 15%-35% less than gasoline, up from 15 States in November.
Arizona ,Arkansas ,Colorado, Georgia , Illinois, Indiana, Iowa , Kansas , Minnesota , Missouri , North Dakota , Nebraska , New York ,Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
Nebraska came in with a surprising 20.7% price spread over gasoline. This is notable because Nebraska has historically not been very competitive in their pricing of E85.
Colorado continues to impress not only with a very respectable 23.6% price spread but also with some of the lowest E85 Prices in the Nation including $1.99 a gallon Western Convenience and Poudre Valley Stations. December E85 Prices for Colorado
Renew E85 sits atop our pricing board for Wisconsin with price spreads in the 20-24% range across all their locations. Renew has consistently demonstrated its ability to bring consumers alternative fuel at a fair price.
There are nearly 1200 Gas Stations in the United States where you can fill up on E85 ethanol fuel.
The number of stations offering E85 is expected to double in a little over a year as service stations are being offered incentives from Government and Ethanol Industry grants up to $30,000 to install E85 Fuel pumps.

Heartland Energy Group, Inc. (Pink Sheets:HEGP) announced today that it has selected Binger Oil, a private Oklahoma based fuel company to test the storage tanks located at the Broken Bow, OK facility in preparation of its first delivery of e85.
Heartland Energy is working diligently to prepare the Oklahoma Fuel Station for its earliest opening. The station is located in Southeastern, OK, on a well-traveled thoroughfare carrying traffic from Tulsa, OK to Texarkana, TX. Broken Bow is home of the ever popular Beaver Bend Resort Park and is a developing area of the state. This route also goes through the Choctaw Indian Nation, which includes Resorts and Casinos. The station will feature the company's HE85 ethanol as well as other flex fuels and normal grades of gasoline that are suitable for today's market.
Roy Thornhill, CEO of Heartland Energy Group, stated: "We are ensuring our full compliance as we prepare for the opening of our Oklahoma Station, as soon as possible."
Ethanol Industry:
The growing interest in ethanol, a clean, corn-based renewable resource, has paralleled the escalating price of gas and the urgent need to break the country's dependence on crude oil. Recently, the Big Three automobile manufacturers, GM (NYSE:GM), Ford (NYSE:F), and DaimlerChrysler (NYSE:DCX), appealed to Congress for incentives to increase the number of gas stations that offer blends of ethanol. President Bush responded by signing the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007. Microsoft (NasdaqGS:MSFT) co-founder Bill Gates invested $84 million into Pacific Ethanol (NasdaqGM:PEIX). Vinod Khosla, "guru" of Silicon Valley, co-founder of Sun Microsystems (NasdaqGS:JAVA), and one of ethanol's most vocal advocates, has personally invested millions in private companies involved in the development of ethanol. The development of renewable energy resources has created enough buzz to force conventional gas and oil conglomerates such as Exxon Mobil (NYSE:XOM), Chevron (NYSE:CVX), and BP (NYSE:BP) to focus more on alternative energy solutions. Alternative energy companies like Archer Daniels Midland (NYSE:ADM) and Bunge Limited (NYSE:BG) have experienced some resistance in their respective markets due to the rise in feedstock costs.

Yes. E85 has a huge future here in the USA. The fact Jay Leno now owns a 600 horsepower E85 Corvette is a sign that acceptance of flex fuel vehicles is well on the way.
