Toyota Gears Down on Profit Outlook; Courtesy to Natural Disasters ..........On Monday, Toyota Motor Corporation (NYSE:TM) lowered its profit outlook notably for its fiscal year concluding on March 30. The company blamed this lowering on an appreciated yen that made exporting cars from Japan less lucrative and the huge typhoon in Thailand which damaged parts supplies and production significantly.

Great buy at this price, watching for even lower. I saw the the "Prii" at the Minneapolis Auto Show. The Prius V is a nice looking 5 passenger MPV that gets 40 mpg or better. Prius City-centric is expected to get "much better than 50mpg" in city driving and be the least expensive hybrid available. And a plug in Prius coming soon with a 20 mile eletric range. All Toyota needs to do is get production going again, pick up the pieces in Japan. For now they have power shortage and not enough electricity to keep the plants going full time. Unfortunately this could be long term problem if the Nuke plants can't make power.
It was all just a ploy to try and boost GM
Gonna be a great bounce play....
I knew all along it was just idiots who put their foot on the wrong pedal. Just like the 1984 Audi Unintended acceleration hoax.

What models will they be building in MS ??
News out for Toyota!
The MS plant will be great for jobs. Toyota is the ONLY auto
company that is mostly economically US built, imo. :)
I'm brand new here, but I have a general question...Will the Toyota/Tesla deal be good for Toyota?...Anyone know if Tesla will finally do an IPO, and get a ticker symbol of it's own?
Sincere Cheers,
GetSum
The next profit report will be a good time to jump in.
Toyota needs to do a major restructure in customer support to survive here.
We'll see how high they can bounce when they bottom which will be soon...

Investigating Toyota Corporate Fleets
This lawyer I work with just started a new investigation of the safety issues when employees drive corporate cars that have been recalled.

Yes, a cruise control malfunction be the most likely culprit, or possibly a EM spark from the cell phones these people are using to call 911. Even so it's all suspicious and I personally don't believe a word of it. The latest news is the NHTSA and Toyota both say the out of control Prius in California was BS. Obviously so, the cell phone calls were 23 minutes apart and the caller was just too calm. Same thing happened to Audi a few years back, that all turned out to be a hoax. Bad drivers with good lawyers. IMO
Toyotas current slogan is "Toyota- Moving Forward;" I hear their new slogan might be: "Toyota- Moving Forward with Unintended Acceleration! But really, what if this started off as a cruise control computer virus implanted by some red neck geek who hates rice burners and who works in a garage out in the middle of nowhere?
TM Finnally starting to look bearish again! Maybe those put options I bought in the beggining of the month will pay off!
My guess. The only reason this stock is up is due to positive earning results. The next earnings report this will drop. If you want in, wait till then!

I don't understand how this is happening. You had to figure that the 70 strike would be in play.
you said ;
The latest unintended acceleration claim was a Prius that took off in reverse with ungodly and unstoppable power. Since I own a Prius I know that these cars do not have a reverse gear and reverse is handled by the 10 hp electric motor. do you think a 10hp electric motor can overpower and overheat the brakes? I'd say 99% of the news on this subject is just bad drivers and good lawyers. I'm not sayiing TOyota doesn't have problems. all my opinion.

can't agree with that much considering the number of deaths !!!

GREEN AGAIN STRONG!
With all this bad news I can't...?
I have no idea eitther...I sold out at 77.00...not comfortable holding this over the weekend. Pretty sure there will be a better longterm entry point sometime in the future...
god this is the most strange run on what.. more recalls, more lawsuits, more bull crap from toyoda..
heard on teh new last night the "fixes" are not working.. knew that was coming.. it never was the pedal it was electronics all along. the guy on CBS reporter proved it last week.. not a sticking pedal all the while
man i can not beleive what i am seeing in this stock.. is this shorts covering or long buying more.. ?? who the h@ll knows..
This would be worth looking at some charts and see why it's going UP! lol
Tear the damn thing apart!!
well these idiots are getting onto their cell phones instead of controlling the car for crying out loud! says a lot about the intelligence of these people.
turning off the key is NOT what you want to do in cause of sudden acceleration. you loose braking and steering power.. you shift to neutral and pull off the road..
ABC was in a car and the tech caused the car to speed up.. the reporter was unable to stop the car with brakes and after a bit of time as able to shift out of drive and slow the car.. Toyota claims they have a stop pedal override of the system which will allow you to stop and the onboard computer will have a code.. not of which happened during this event.. the reporter stated he was unnerved and was not sure what to do.. and he knew it was coming.. image your wife having the same thing happen, what would she do???
the whole argument on hitting the gas instead of the brake is lame at best. a CHP officer was involved in a crash due to out of control car.. you calling him a idiot??
I have drive tractor trailer in the mountains, thank you. I do know that brakes get hot fast, also know there's a lot of STUPID drivers out there who are incapable of turning off the key in a run away car. IMO

Are you guys listening to this hearing ? Who would be long in this circus. Shorts won't cover forever , this tests 70.
Personally IMO unintended acceleration is total bs. fact:The engine cannot overpower the brakes, therefore someone is lying because they are a bad driver and feel stupid for having their foot on the wrong pedal. This is Audi all over again. This world need 50 mpg cars. What happened really? Did someone at Toyota upset the poor oil fat cats trying to build a 100mpg car?
