as our hero would say... You're fired. haha.
i take the short cut on the........
..
Kick off show. and i fast forward, after hearing 2 seconds of any of the other music and awful singers, til i just get to the end and see who goes, and their 2 songs they are fighting to win with.
but thx for the review.
I picked the two at the bottom as well, but forgot to put that in my post, DOH! LOL!
Very good assessment, thank you.

Band DNCE Performs - Boo!
First Artist Safe - Alisan, Yea!
Next Two Artists Safe - Adam & Shalyah, America is getting it right.
Sawyer Frediicks Performs - Pop driven, disappointing, especially since we know how good he can be.
Two More Artist Safe - Hannah & Mary, not surprised at all.
Next Three Artist Safe - Bryan, Laith, & Paxton, surprised Laith was not one of the first safe.
Nick & Daniel Bottom Two - Sing To Stay:
Nick - Good song choice and he did well with it. A-
Daniel - Bad song choice, this guy is poser, I don't believe him. C
Nick Is Safe, we have our top 9. America got it right again.
Next one to get rid of for me is Nick and then probably Bryan. Then it gets more complicated in my opinion.
correct, they are picking properly, vs idol.
To me america likes the better voices the thing I like about the voice it isn't perfect (with america's choices) but the more talented singers are generally around longer. I wasn't shocked as that was my bottom 2 this week, and america didn't disappoint.
so, daniel goes home and nick was next in line to go. looks like america likes the manly voices over the weak ones.
good review. my theory about laith is that he may not think he will win sooooooooooo, it was VERY smart of him to get free advertising, as a fantastic guitar guy, as well as singer.. someone WILL pay him a ton to be in a top band.
that was smart i think.
My Take on the show
1) Daniel- He wasn't very good. He was missing something in the song, and that ain't nothing knew because every performance he makes is missing something. Doesn't connect with a song, you don't feel anything, flat in parts, pitchey in others. The judges including his own coach were critical, I believe they were a bit annoyed on what he said on the video before his performance in my opinion.
Grade D+
2) Shylah-For me I like the song, I know you said you don't like those angry type of songs. But I don't think Upbeat songs make good competition songs for the the most part. You need songs that show off your vocal range generally that is down in more of a ballad. And if you meant upbeat in the sense of positive, I don't think that song is that negative/sad/pessimistic that she sang, I happen to be a fan of that song, so I guess I'm biased in that regard.
Now too her specific performance, she was emotional, she sounded good for the most part, had a few minor vocal imperfection towards, the end, a little over done in parts. If she sings Blige No more Drama, that is a song that has to be a bit angry otherwise you didn't do it well in my opinion.
Grade B+
3) Nick- I hated it. He was flat out terrible didn't like the song. And didn't like the way he did it.
Grade D
4) Hannah- Was fine in parts, had moments where she was good, but she is no adele and that song paled in comparison to the original in my opinion. There were times I didn't like her tone in that song in my opinion as well.
Grade C
5) Laith- Solid performance, vocal was good, guitar play was perhaps the best I have ever seen by a contestant in one of these talent shows. Yes he was that good on the guitar. Problem is this is not a guitar contest, and the guitar was almost doing as much solo work as his singing so I agree with that, and although I love his guitar play, and I think his vocal was good, the fact that there was too much guitar solo in a vocal compeition like this was a bit of a problem for me, and why I can give him a A. But it was at this point the bets performance of the night.
Grade A-
6) Paxton- Was not nearly as good as last week wasn't bad. Had some of that tone I don't like having said that was good in alot of parts. Overall it was decent.
Grade B-
7) Mary- Last week was the first week I actually liked her. For the most part I found her pretty good on that song, hit one bumb note towards the end. But other then that was pretty good.
Grade B+
8) Bryan- Sang song in half spanish 1/2 english, I see the degree of difficulty in that to keep switching languages in a song. He wa pitchey in parts, But also hita good money note towards the end. Overall I thought it was okay, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better then last week though.
Grade C+
9) Allisan- Sang well, didn't do her normal over the top thing Like she normally does. Did a good job on it. Not my favorite performance by here, but it was very good.
Grade A-
10) Adam- Sang well, did a good job on that song, one of his better performances so far. I like him on it. He was very good and in my opinion the best of the night.
Grade A
My favorites right now in no particular order
Shylah
Laith
Adam
Allisan
The bottom 2
Daniel
Nick
Who ever sings better tonight should stay, I really don't care as who ever they don't eliminate this week they can eliminate the next. Well that is my take on last night's show.
NO, don't know where you got that.
Too me Paxton sounds like a munchkin' from The Wizard of Oz, and I don't mean just when he's talking. I have never been a fan, he has been lucky with song choices, but the truth will be exposed before long and have him out of the competition in a next few weeks.
Bryan, I have been critical of Bryan in the past. Yes, when he has the right song I like him, he is a good singer, not great but good, but like the only thing keeping Paxton in the competition he is pretty solid performer. Last I truly liked him, maybe song choice was the key. You know what they say, different strokes f... .
At this point of the competition it is safe to say neither will be in the op 5. However, if Bryan puts some work into it, I feel like he does not work hard enough at it, and is very careful with song choices he could step up.
But that is saying a lot because no matter how hard he works at it, it looks like Alisan, Laith and Adam will be in the top 3, add Hannah and Shalyah to that and you have the top 5.
OBTW, I forgot to comment on the coaches; they used to be more critical, and I miss that. I think the network probably told them to back off because it seems like a group effort.
paxton and bryan... you like... hmmm.
That guy gots some serious skill.
Yep, I liked it, a few misses, but nowhere near as many some others like... Paxton. I enjoyed the song.
skillz, where you at?
amen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I deliberately did not comment on the opening because I can't do so without losing my temper and cursing a lot.
You are right about Mary Sara, she sang it too low, but I still liked it.
Salyah, I'm tired of the angry black, not just the ladies - I like sad, happy, praise, just a good beat, but angry wears quickly.
Laith tore it up for sure!!!
you gave bryan an A? but yes, i agree, great show last night.
Live Top 10 Performances
As per my usual all notes were taken before the coaches comments and not changed.
Team Pharrell > Daniel Passino - Good Song, bad choice for him, all tactic and no heart. C
Team Adam > Shalyah Fearing - Powerful Performance, one of her best. B
Team Christina > Nick Hagelin Technically Spot On, Nice Michael Jackson Impression. C
Team Pharrell > Hannah Huston Good Start, then moved into a bit too growly, but still it was pretty good. B+
Team Adam > Laith Al-Saadi - Great Song Choice, Get Down! Bravo!!! A+
Team Blake > Paxton Ingram - Good Effort, But I felt nothing, and I thought he had to flats and couple of sharps. B-
Team Blake > Mary Sara - A Fav & A Classic, Well done, great job, and she looked good too. A
Team Christina > Bryan Bautista - Did not know the song, but I like it, and I liked Bryan's performance of it. A
Team Christina > Alisan Porter - Again I say, what a great voice. A very solid performance. A
Team Blake > Adam Wakefield - Yes, A Ray Charles Tune, Great song choice, if this is done right this song will hook you. Oh Yeah... Ray would be proud. A+
Wow what a night, a few clinkers but some truly good performances as well. Best of the night would be a tie with with Adam and Laith; the bottom two would Daniel & Nick.
My take on last night's show...
..
first of all, it was shameful to see michelle Obama there, as she and her hubby love being on tv and now I hear she is going to be in some tv show, I mean, they are a joke, im sorry.
anyway..
Daniel- yuck and finally, even the judges didn't "gush" over him like they do all of them, but they just cant get themselves to say it was awful either.
shalyah- it was good and heartfelt, but as I said on the Idol board, and here, that I don't care for the "angry black lady" types of songs. but, she did good anyway. why cant they sing happy upbeat songs? sigh.
nick- did a super hard micheal Jackson song.. I mean, its impossible to sing but he knocked it out of the park! and it fit his "girly" voice perfectly. it was not as good as Jackson but it was very close. needed just a bit more energy but wow!
Hannah- she is so funny and down to earth. she sang it a bit ahead of the band vs letting the music hit her first.. not in "time" with the song at first... it was just ave.. but as usual, the judges "gushed". I mean, that's the best word I can think of, week after week, it just fits them.
laith- did "the thrill is gone" and OMG IT WAS FANTASTIC AS WAS THE GUITAR PLAYING, WOWWWWW!
Paxton- sorry- it was way to gay for me (am I allowed to say that?) and .. surprise... you guessed it.. the judges gushed over it.
(omg, did you all see the Verizon commercial that followed about mothers day??--- I usually f/f through that stuff but it and the music caught my eye/ear.. very nice commercial. )
mary- it was too low for her- great song choice though. I love that these kids (watching) get to hear all these good old songs that im hearing on this show. she did very good with the song.
bryan- huh?? oh, he was singing in "Spanglish". it was pitchy and too girly for me but I loved the band and style of music. now, if someone would just ask ferrel (sp?) TO STOP SAYING "LIKE... LIKE....UM... IT WAS LIKE".. just take "like" out of your vocab!
alisan- WOWZA! didn't bowersox, from idol, do or write that one? anyway, she tore that up, fantastic job and the guitarist was also fantastic. wow, what a treat this show is/was so far tonight... I cant wait to show the hubby the good singers on it. so I saved the show on dvr.
adam- OMG, ANOTHER GREAT SONG TONIGHT... he just needed a bit more "umph" but it was so good. piano great too!
my top favs are......
laith
alisan
adam
mary
i agree about owen
correct, but i think i acc said nick and meant adam.
Yep, America did well this week.
Adam & Laith both sing what you call manly.
HARRR!!! I for forgot Laith's name? I must have been in a hurry. The result were taping as I wrote.
Yes, you are probably right about Laith.
Live Results - Top Ten
New Country Star Thomas Rhett Sings - That Ain't Country! Good song, but it is pop.
First Two Saved - Mary Sara I Nick & Nick Hagelin, Fair choices.
Next Two Saved - Laith Al-Saadi & Alisan Porter, Best of the night saved.
Pharrell & Crew sing - Pharell was right last season when he said he can't sing.
Two More Saved - Hannah Huston & Paxton Ingram, Again fair choices.
Christina & Crew Sing - Love the song choice, good performance.
Last Three Saved - Shalyah Fearing, Adam Wakefield & Bryan Bautista, America got it right again.
Owen & Daniel Sing To Stay:
Daniel Passino - Solid performance, but he should be careful with that cockiness, it could backfire on him. B
Owen Danoff - This guy has a very good voice, I like him, However, he more coaching, more experience and more confidence. He let his nerves get the best of him he forgot his lyrics. If he does not give up I think we'll be hearing from him in the future.
No Surprise - Daniel Is Saved.
And Nick eventually as well.
The rest of them is where these decisions get alot more difficult in my opinion, and it becomes more subjective of our personal likes and dislikes in my opinion.
yup and also brian also needs to go.
In my opinion america made the right call on the bottom 2, and who to get rid of in my opinion.
saw last night's "kick one off" show and owen goes home. both he and daniel were on the bottom. daniel sang only a tad better than owen.
also, i had said "nick" in a prior post but i meant that Adam was the other manly man that i like there. NOT nick.
yup, music, politics and guns (guns too right?)
ironically, you forgot to say who........
..
was the last act, but we know it was laith. and yes, he was the best by far
also, i agree, nick is hit and miss, sadly.
i loved laith's performance so much, that i saved it for bryan (hubby) to see and told him how all the men now are very girly, so, when i cranked up the song that laith did, we both got the goosies. (me, for the second time)
sadly, i bet he wont win, only cause of the odd kids now days and what they like, but he, at least, has introduced REAL music into their world.
and im about to watch tonight's show that taped. its late and the hubby and i were watching the outcome of the primaries. goooo trump.
We agree on much.
I agree with you on Allison, spot on. When she is doing well she is usually nailing it.
Live Top 11-Performances
As per my usual all notes were taken before the coaches comments and not changed.
Team Adam > Shalyah Fearing - Started off good and then fell apart as the song went on; I was disappointed, didn't like it. B-
Team Pharrell > Daniel Passino - Soft, so soft there wasn't much there at all. C
Team Blake > Paxton Ingram - Done well enough, but if it was on CD I don't think it would get air time; I did not like it. C
Team Adam > Owen Danoff - Too quiet, no heart, like Daniel it was just too soft and the song was lost. C
Team Blake > Mary Sarah - Her best thus far, in fact it is the best of the night so far. B+
Team Christina > Alison Porter - The song was a bit repetitious, but it was a great performance; Allison is one of the ones to beat at this point this competition. A
Team Christina > Bryan Bautista - I did not like this song, but Bryan did it well enough - it was not his best. B-
Team Blake > Adam Wakefield - Nicely done, a good performance, we see more that lets yell us this he is a front runner. A-
Team Christina > Nick Hagelin I can't figure this guy out, one week he's on top of his game and the next week way off. This was not his best but it was still a good performance. B-
Team Pharrell >Hannah Huston - A True Fav' Song Of Mine. Too high a tone for me, I do not care for her voice hen she's up there; still it was good performance. A-
Team Adam > - Yea, some Blues. Great song choice, I almost reached for cigar and a glass of brandy - that's pretty good as I have not used either in well over 20-years. Best performance of the night. A+
There were a lot of weak performance tonight, at this point in the contest there shouldn't so many poor efforts.
I think Laith stole the show tonight, if it were up to me it would be Owen going home tonight. If not Owen I would think it would be Daniel or Paxton as all were C's in my book.
I wasn't laughing when I got this morning, grabbed my coffee and could not find m show. I may be addicted, when the show was preempted last night it was somebody STOL my cookies, HARR!!!
I'll be back later. I did not get to watch The Voice last night as it was preempted by out Portland Trailblazers palyoff game.
I went to On Demand to watch it and it loaded some stupid azz talk show with Kathy Lee, twice. Now, I am going to put my monitor on my big screen TV and watch, and I'll have to watch commercials... ERR!!!
well, i was about to hit the......
..
sack but you posted, so now i have to reply with my notes, vs in the a/m....
judges always gush over them and never say if they are bad. i did notice that Christina, like the other lady judges on other music shows, show their boobs off vs letting the singers take the attention.
Christina has huge fake ones and they even crinkled (if you paid attention) as the implants got in the way of her moving around with those massive long purple veins being pushed out by the implants. gross!
ok, about the show..
shalyah- boring and a little pitchy.
daniel- on key and all but boring and girly
paxton- sigh- it was ok i guess but i dont know... it was just too churchy for me.
owen- reminds me of clay aken (sp?). pitchy and copied the song exact, mostly.
mary- boring, not moved, week and pitchy at times.
alisan- she did very well, but i never liked that song. but she did good.
bryan- cool vibe but pitchy, and "love boaty"... hated it.
adam- bad song choice but loved that he was at least more manly than what's out there now days. was boring though.
nick- it was good but too high. HE should have been the one to do the James Taylor song, as that would have fit him better.
hannah- very good.. kind of "staged" feeling, but good.
***Laith*** my fav of the night. fantastic.... i see a little boy, watching this show asking "mommy, who was that?" and she replies, "that's a real man... that's how men SHOULD sing"
night night zzzzzzzzzz
My Take on the Show Tonight
1) Shalyah- She comes out and sing well, had a few minor imperfection throughout the song, but she sang well, and it is a good song.
Grade B+
2) Daniel- Sings a classic 80's song if there ever was one. I thought his version was a bit boring, and the so called money nite I didn't love. other then that and okay vocal. Average.
Grade C
3) Paxton-Now in fairness I was so against this guy going through to the top 12, and then last week he surprised us with a pretty good performance. I thought this performance was even better (Best of the night for me), I felt the song, and he sang very well. His best to date by a country mile.
Grade A
4) Owen- Was boring, not a great contest song, sang a barely passable vocal.
Grade C-
5) Mary- Now I'm not her biggest fan, and it is not that she didn't get whiny in a few parts, but most part of the song was good. Her personal best by a country mile, it was overall bordering on good for me.
Grade B-
6) Allison- Back to the vocal olmypics again without a purpose. Don't get me wrong she has the most raw talent out of the bunch. But there are times she over does it, there are times where she is on 10 the whole song pretty much, and their are times she can get a bit screamy. All of that happened in this song in a lot of parts. Now she had moments where she was brilliant as well throughout the song. But a far cry from last week.
Grade B-
7) Bryan- Hello worse performance of the night. Man he was a bit better in the second half, but the first half was brutal to my ears. He was super pitchey, he was off in parts, hated that song for him. It wasn't very good.
Grade D
8) Adam- Sang well, surprised me with a falsetto in a certain part of the song didn't expect that, nice to see he has the vocal range, but should in my opinion continue to stick with his bread and butter. Wasn't his best performance, but he is always at least good in my opinion, and that is exactly what he was tonight.
Grade B
9) Nick- Didn't love it, was a bit better in the second half. But I found the first half of that song rough. was slightly below Average for me.
Grade C-
10) Hannah-sang well, felt the emotion from that song, did a good job, solid vocal control, and a good vocal on a decent song, perhaps not the most exciting song in the world but if covered right (and she certainly did) can be heartfelt in my opinion.
Grade B+
11) Laith- Another good song. Solid Guitar solo at the end. Solid vocal. Sounded very good to me.
Grade B+
My Bottom 2
Bryan
Nick (Could be owen or daniel as well as that wouldn't surprise me.) Well that is my take on the show.
i grew up listening to him so i guess, in that case, he got a pass for the girly voice, but i liked his stuff. he did get weird, but was very talented.
did a great job at the superbowl half time that one year.
Wow... that is too young to die. I did not care for Prince or most of his music, but a true song writing genius and a spotter of talent he was.
