I didn't know about that one Matt!
I have Verizon too. I just got the Storm last weekend and love it.
I also have T Mobile (don't ask) and have the red curve. It's ok but I liked the older BlackBerry 8703e better.
You should also check out Verizon's home phone too that's touch.
it's HOT
I've had the BB 8830 for over 2 years now. Still think it's the best phone I've ever owned.
I'm a Verizon guy, so never have the 'latest' Blackberries. Would have gone for the Curve, but it's only on ATT..blech!
The Storm didn't tickle my pickle, so I didn't upgrade to that one.
However, the new 9630 IS tickling my pickle. Looks like it's being released in May/June. I'll be standing in line for it.

and even another reason to be a crackberry addict
(just when you thought it was safe to put the bb down! lol)

The new BlackBerry handset is intriguing, but the real news is RIM's new, much faster platform.
by Sascha Segan
Buzz up!on Yahoo!
The US' top smartphone maker, Research in Motion, today announced its first major new platform in two years. The BlackBerry Bold 9000 still looks like existing BlackBerrys, but it's packed with new power, most notably a 624-Mhz processor and high-speed 3G networking.
SLIDESHOW (4)
Slideshow | All Shots
The 9000 is only the first of a new line which will come to all major US carriers (both CDMA and GSM— even on T-Mobile's 1700-Mhz band), and will appear in various form factors, much as RIM's existing platform comes in businesslike 8800, casual Curve, and petite Pearl styles, CEO Mike Lazaridis said.
Superficially, the 9000 looks a lot like a streamlined Curve or 8800. The all-important keyboard has the 8800's sculpted keys, but the rows are separated by curved barriers. The screen is higher-contrast and higher-res, at 320 by 480, and the device runs a new version of the BlackBerry OS, 4.6.
"What has made us strong is the iconic BlackBerry look. So we've taken our best-selling product and kicked it up a gear," Lazaridis said.
But the important thing here is the platform rather than the individual device, Lazaridis emphasized. Much as the BlackBerry 8700 evolved into the Curve, Pearl, and 8800, the Bold platform will evolve in various directions as well.
The Bold platform includes a 624-Mhz Marvell Tavor PXA930 processor, 320-by-480 screens, HSDPA or EVDO networking, Wi-Fi, GPS, and support for up to 16GB MicroSD cards. RIM has tuned the phone's "sweet spot" for better phone call quality, and done something unspecified to improve Bluetooth music quality.
The Tavor platform integrates the HSDPA modem and applications processor on one chip, letting RIM maximize battery life, Lazaridis said. With the built-in 1500 mAh battery, RIM expects to get five hours of talk time and 13 days of standby.
One very unusual feature is 1GB of onboard, AES256 secure memory, for corporate IT managers to store confidential data in.
The new OS 4.6 includes DataViz' DocumentsToGo, which allows BlackBerry users to read and edit Microsoft Word and PowerPoint documents; though, oddly, not Excel spreadsheets. HTML e-mails are shown in their full graphical glory. The HTML browser displays Web pages in desktop format.
New desktop software integrates Roxio's media platform better than before, making it easier to transcode music and video to play on the device. The spec sheet specifically promises iTunes integration, which we thought was interesting. Video plays at 30 frames per second in full screen mode.
The browser may also support rich media, such as Flash, in the future, Lazaridis said.
"We're adding all kinds of stuff," he said. —next: Hands-On With the Bold >

AT&T Tilt
One of those everything-but-the-kitchen-sink-type smart phones.
It's packed with just about every feature imaginable to keep the mobile professional
connected and productive on the road, including 3G support, built-in GPS, and Windows Mobile 6.
And did we mention that it has a tilting screen?
Motorola Razr2 V9m (Sprint)
The Motorola Razr2 series is a complete redesign of the handsets.
Save for poor video quality, is a good performer as well.
Price: $249
Motorola W385 (Verizon Wireless)
It's a repackaged, and slightly downscale, version of the Moto Krzr K1m.
Offers a respectable feature set minus the support for Verizon's EV-DO network.
RIM BlackBerry Curve(aka BlackBerry 8320) pale gold (T-Mobile)
Tacks on integrated Wi-Fi.
Sony Ericsson W580i - style white (AT&T)
Deserves credit for bringing music to cell phones.
A robust music player with admirable sound quality before the ballyhooed Apple iPhone.
Price: $219

The Fireflies8800 were a movement of those that protested against the charges
to use the GPS on it, which they felt threatened their market trading livelihood.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Luddites were a social movement of English textile artisans in the early nineteenth century who protested -- often by destroying textile machines -- against the changes produced by the Industrial Revolution, which they felt threatened their livelihood.

Sprint goes global with RIM BlackBerry 8830 World Edition

A Blog from CNET
Jul 5 2007
Dangit! I just got back from Italy, and I totally could have used this while I was over there. Though first announced back in April, Sprint has finally released its version of the RIM BlackBerry 8830 World Edition smart phone. Like Verizon's model, the BlackBerry 8830 for Sprint offers dual-mode functionality so you can make calls and receive e-mail around the world; plus, it adds unlocked SIM capabilities, which means you can use SIM cards from other countries. The 8830 switches automatically between CDMA (for the U.S., Canada, and Mexico) and GSM networks to offer seamless international roaming. In all, you get voice coverage in about 170 countries and e-mail coverage in 75 countries. Other goodies include built-in GPS with a BlackBerry maps application, Bluetooth, a media player (no camera, though), a full QWERTY keyboard, expandable media, and a speakerphone. The RIM BlackBerry 8830 is available now online and through Sprint's business channels for $199 with a two-year service agreement and after a mail-in rebate. The carrier's Worldwide BlackBerry plan starts at $69.99 for unlimited BlackBerry e-mail and Web access, while international voice roaming rates range from $0.59 to $4.99 per minute.
Do you log in to check the Quotes or pay for streaming. I pay Quotemedia for streaming L2's. Etrade i can log into and trade, but not the easiest for quotes.

yeh my broker has a great mobile feature but mostly just watch quotes on it...
Nice. Solid Network. My dad got the silver Wold Phone 8800 since he travels so much through Verizon.
How do you like trading on it? Tried that yet?
Nice. The 8800 is a sweet phone. Who is your provider?
hmmmm Opera sounds well worth it...
i have the 8800, btw (black)
can someone walk me through how to 'sync' my BB w/ my cpu?
Might have to test it out. Thanks.
The answer is "yes" if the following is accurate...
BlackBerry maker Research In Motion isn't happy with:
"It's an article of faith among many BlackBerry users that the best way to access
and view the Web on a BlackBerry is via Opera Mini."
For myself I have zero wireless devices if my three ears are not counter.
:)
Very Interesting. Is it stable on the blackberry?
Flat, whats up buddy?
$199 on the Curve, then 15% off that. Plus 15% off all accesories, which i did not need as my 8700c stuff just transitioned over.
-Spec
Spec...I'm Cingular too...
What was your deal on The Curve hookup?

The world phone version is sweet. Several relatives have picked that one up for travel reasons.
Plus the silver on that one is hot.
I have Cingular/AT&T, and went with the Curve. It has that whole cool factor going on but will still handle my 200 emails a day! ;)
OH SORRY INXR or IFINIX is launching their new trading platform on july 16th and i was just looking at the blackberry board and left the comment that IFINIX is looking to be the trading tool of choice for desktop and mobile traders soon. :)

8830 from Verizon. Best service in the US, hands-down. I cried tears of joy when the 8830 came out, Verizon finally able to go international.
Not sure. Once the browser is open and you are on a page, click the menu botton and select "Full Page"
LOL. Just started hearing rumors of a version coming out in the fall with Wifi and a 3.5 Mega Pixel Camera.
Lol...Maybe i should upgrade..lol
Nice. I like the WiFi capabilities that has, but had to go with the Curve for the camera to snap up them hotties at the bars! ;)
What are you rocking now Matt? Any of the new ones?
so has the stock, unreal!! My 8700 is treating me right, like the curve though, nice..
They've come a long ways!
I think I've owned 4 of them over the years. Started with the 857. They've come a long ways!
Hey Spec...Got the Black One/Sharp Looking
Have you tried this Opera Mini thing?
Try the beta 4 version. That just saved me $600. Cause now I have full blown web browsing like the iPhone but with EVDO speeds instead of Edge...excellent.
Yeah, the camera or MMS is not that big of a deal for me. If I wanted the camera I'd get a Curve. So, that's good to hear. Thanks.
8830 best phone I've ever owned. Its only flaws are lack of true MMS support and a camera. You can't beat the email technology or the phone quality (for a smartphone).
Does that work with the 8800/8830 too? The real page view, I mean.
I just downloaded it. Thanks, I didn't even know about that before...Opera Mini.
Anyone upgrade from the 8700 to 8800 series yet?
I have an 8703e on VZW.
Are there any blackberries that work with VoIP? I was reading something about a Nokia E61 being able to do that. I might just get one of those and downgrade my 8703 plan to the absolute minimum. I'm always around a WLAN, or so it seems.
Hi Spec, My experience with Opera is its ad free, free browser I use on Windows XP.
I'm near clueless what a BlackBerry is, as I think its a wireless telephone and web browser,
but then I have not even ever owned a telephone without needing a plug into the wall :)
My contact with BlackBerry is only having it mentioned on the Opera web site:
