Murray could have trouble against Wawrinka this afternoon. Murray is a 3 to 1 favorite in the betting odds, but at those odds I'd bet on Wawrinka.
Nadal looks awesome and I'd rate him the favorite over Djokovic if they meet in the final as expected.
Serena win her 5th Wimbledon ....1st slam in 2 years, 14th slam of her career...inching further into rarified air.
Espn showing federer defeat over sharapova live...WTF
Have not watch any of it ....need to catch up...as far as Dj...yeah he can nadal seems burned out and rfed is older
Hey, let's get this board going again.
It's pretty unbelievable what Djokovic has done the last six months. Do you think he can keep it up?
I LOVE tennis! I'm lovin' the French Open!!!! Great matches today.
Kim C - offers up a heart felt Beat down..

Maybe Venus can win Wimbledon. If she can get herself in good enough shape to play Roland Garros then Wimbledon shouldnt be a problem as far as conditioning goes. Plus she will probably lose before Clijsters on the clay which will give her more time to prepare for the grass.
Venus will have to carry the mantle for both sisters this year...Not sure she is focused enough to win one of the big ones anymore...the talent is there but is the strength and focus. Serena is not in Australian and no telling when she will be back. She will gain 30 pounds w/o playing...
Kin C...is a beast on the court....she could win them all if she is motivated....
Well then hopefully she will break into the top #10 too.
Ana Ivanovic is certainly attractive, but in my view the best looking woman in the top 100 is Maria Kirilenko ....
another prediction from me...
if Ivanovic returns to the top #10,then a lot more men will be watching womens tennis.
Another prediction -
Ivanovic returns to the top 10, finishing 2011 at #7.
Hello researcher59, for me...
Federer wins the Australien and Wimbledon and
Nadal wins Roland Garros and the US Open and for the women...
Clijsters wins the Australien and Rolland Garros and
Serena Williams wins Wimbledon and the US Open
Predictions for 2011 -
Nadal wins 3 slams, or possibly just 2
Federer wins 1 or none
Murray, Djokovic have a chance at winning 1
Del Potro continues to have wrist problems and plays through it but can't regain his old form and power. Finishes 2011 ranked #20.
*****************************************
Serena and Venus win just 1 slam combined
Clijsters wins 2 slams
Wozniacki wins 1
Henin, Zvonareva and Stosur have a small chance of winning 1
Sharapova finishes 2011 ranked #10, not returning to her former top level. Henin likewises finishes 2011 at #12.
I am picking Roger to win the US Open
I liken Nadal to Bjorn Borg, who never won the
US OPEN and think he lost in the Final 3 times.
This is was not their surface. This hardcourt
surface is just way too brutal for R. Nadal's
body. In fact, I give him maybe two more
productive years, and that in five years he will
be retired. His body just cannot take what he
is putting it thru.
Look at Rogers arms----his biceps look like he
has no muscle....his motion is so fluid whereas
Nadal is powering the ball over, consequently
the differences in style and what it has done
to their bodies...
Roger could play well into his 30's, though I
think he will hang it up here soon----he has
won them all
Briboy
Rafa wins wimbledon.. the french and will win the US open to.. it is only a matter of time.. poor Roger oh.. well it happens to us all... old age that is
No problem. I am taking my daughter to Bible
Study, and I started to think...."You know, that
post to The_Free_Nebula wasn't very nice."
If you knew me, you would understand that I did
not mean it personally towards Serena, but I
get a bit to cynical for my own good, and I
don't like the way our country acts towards
one another, so rather than being nice, I make
a stupid statement like I did.
Peace to you as well. I like the Williams sisters,
but I like Venus better.....she is very classy.
Serena is ridiculously talented.
See ya, and glad we made amends.
Briboy
Peace...Sorry for my tone ... I guess you can tell I am a Serena fan...I was very disappointed in her...But I viewed it an exception and not a rule to define her..
You know, you are right, it was an ignorant
statement. Sorry.
Because you are tying her tirade to her race..to immediately reduce all of what she is and accomplished to some arrogant I am mad at whites for slavery is ignorant...Her life in tennis has almost exclusively been around white people on a global scale...Her tirade was foolish and low rent and I grant you that...but Jimmy Mac is praised for it...So that is why it is ignorant...
A black person telling you that they are bitter about slavery is lightyears from you assuming a women who is a hall of fame tennis player feels the same way...Unless you tell me you spoke to her....
Please tell me why it is ignorant
I have talked to plently of blacks who
are resentful for slavery, even they
themselves were never slaves.
You see, it's easy for people to say
a white person is a racist, but when
it goes in the opposite direction
all of the sudden it is ignorant.
Why is it that many blacks still want
reparations? Is that an ingnorant
statement.
By the way, Obama is at least 50% white
and I happen to be related to him as
well.
So, heck, I'll just say your statement
is ignornant. Why not?
Come on T Free Nebula!
Now, getting back to reality, I have no
idea personally about Serena Williams....
and the remark was just that...she is
likely a nice gal and has no resentments
at all.
Have you ever been called a racist?
See ya
Briboy, for me I am always glad when they finish up a series.I hate waiting from year to year for the next season to come out.Sometimes I just lose interest. Yeah,I thought del Potro played some great tennis. It looked to me like Federer was tired in the 5th set.I didnt watch the whole match though.I only watch Federers matches when it looks like he might lose.I have seen him win so many times it just isnt interesting for me when he wins. I was glad to see that he didnt cry or look too upset after the match.I have alot of respect for Federer and think he is a nice guy,but I never liked him since he fired his first coach (Peter Lundgren).Right when he gets to be #1 he fires his coach because his girlfriend had some problem with him. Take care,Dale
"Probably resentful of
the slavery days and just can't get over it."
This has got to be one of the most ignorant statements I have heard in a long time. And the rest of it is simply martian stuff...
Agree 100%....was great to see.
dale: Just for the record. I loved
Prison Break....really was a bummer they
stopped the program but I guess they ran
out of material.
The prison they were originally in is where
I am from....Joliet. That prison is scary..
is about 150 years old....is a ROCK.
Federer gave up in the last two sets imo
cause I think it appeared he knew this guy
was going to beat him. Reminded me of a
young Sampras beating Lendl when Sampras
came on the scene.
regards
Women's final was pure class! There's a few role models for the younger girls to look up to. The shots at the end with Kim and family were priceless. Both Kim and Caroline get my respect and admiration for a job well done.
bliz: I always thought Venus played with a lot of
class, but Serena has a huge 'chip' not sure where
from since she is so great. Probably resentful of
the slavery days and just can't get over it.
The official said the line judge said Serena threatened
to 'Kill Her' and Serena denied it.
Let's see if Serena comes back and apologizes and shows
and seeks some redemption, or holds on to this.
Had to people mark another Christian Conservative.
Can you say "prophetic stuff happening around the world?"
God bless
Briboy
Just realized that when reading the paper
TY
Thanks....ESPNtoo or ESPN2 or ESPNII or
ESPNto or ESPNtwo
Fooeeeey....at least I saw some of the highlights
Wow, this...already forgot the young man's name,
but he wiped out Nadal.
Nadal will never win the US OPEN...he is like Borg
the court is way too fast for his game.
Watching the Federer/Djokovic match now, Fed
will win, is up one set to none.
Will be a good men final.
Will watch some of the woman final but am a big
Packer fan, they are on tonight.
See ya
just to be clear...Kim and Serena was a semi...the woman's final is tonight along with 2 men's semis during the day...so a full day of tennis that I will miss watching football at the sports bar...Men's final tomorrow...Later...
Oh Well, at least I get to watch the Men's
Final. Hope it is close.
See ya Free
The final between Kim and the teenager is tonight...Should be listed...
Came on late....say around 8:30 eastern...
I wanted Williams...but I like Kim as well...She is a very good...
Crud: When was Woman's final on. It was rained
out on our TV....all day Saturday. This makes me
upset, I was looking forward to watching, and I
thought they canceled it and said it would be on
Sunday. Bummer City
Say what? Please don't tell me I missed the
match. They said it will be played Sunday night.
Oh, I am not happy I looked at this post...not
your fault if match was played.
I was for Kim
regards
Briboy
Looking forward to the Clijsters/Wozniacki final. I don't think Wozniacki has the fire power that Clijsters has but it'll be a fun match. And there won't be any profanity laced tirades or threats. Just great tennis.
Serena’s outburst to warrant investigation
by Martin Rogers
NEW YORK – Serena Williams is set to become the subject of an in-depth investigation after launching into a profane outburst that prompted her exit out of the U.S. Open.
Yahoo! Sports has learned that Williams will be asked to explain her actions and comments toward a female line judge at the end of her semifinal defeat to Kim Clijsters on Saturday night. A source revealed that representatives from tennis’ governing body – the International Tennis Federation – plus members of the Grand Slam Committee, which oversees the four major tournaments – will convene along with U.S. Open referee Brian Earley on Sunday.
The group is expected to review video footage of the incident, seek clarification from the line judge and most likely hand down a heavy fine to Williams. A representative from the WTA Tour is also expected to be included, although the Tour does not have jurisdiction over Grand Slam events.
Williams lost her cool after being called for a foot fault on a second serve while trailing 15-30 and 5-6 in the second set. Clijsters won the first set 6-4.
More From Martin Rogers
The call gave Clijsters a match point, but it was never played as Williams exploded into a verbal tirade at the line judge. According to the Associated Press, Williams screamed at the official, “If I could, I would take this … ball and shove it down your … throat,” Williams said.
The line judge then reported the comments to umpire Louise Engzell, as tournament referee Earley rushed on to the court. Williams was heard to yell again at the line judge, loudly insisting “I didn’t say I would kill you. Are you serious? Are you serious? I didn’t say that.”
A code violation was issued for unsportsmanlike conduct, meaning Williams was penalized a point, thereby ending the contest.
Despite the high profile nature of the incident, Williams may escape a more serious sanction such as a ban from future Tour events. Slam tournaments are governed separately.
The ugly confrontation overshadowed a fine performance from Clijsters, who is now remarkably just one win away from clinching the title in her first major since returning to the Tour following the birth of her daughter.
The on-court controversy was followed by a whirlwind of activity once Williams left the playing area at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
Following a press conference, Williams met with Earley to discuss the situation. She then left Flushing Meadows in official U.S. Open transportation, accompanied by her mother Oracene Price and sister Venus Williams. At her media conference, Serena refused to back down.
When asked if the line judge deserved an apology, Williams said: “An apology for? From me?”
“How many people yell at linespeople? All the people that kind of yell at linespeople, I think it kind of comes sometimes. Players, athletes, get frustrated. I don’t know how many times I have seen that happen.”
Clijsters will face Caroline Wozniacki for the U.S. Open crown in a contest that surely will be overshadowed by the inevitable fallout of Williams’ mental meltdown.

Like I said I didnt see the match, but I thought somebody posted here that she was upset over a footfault call.If it was a bad line call didnt she still have the right to challenge?
I dont believe that is correct....She over-reacted to a bad call. She dereved to lose the point. It happens..she wont be the 1st or the last to do it. Kim C. is going to win the Open..
I didnt see the match, but why didnt she ask for a challenge and see the replay? I would think that you can check for a footfault just as you would for a ball.
Kim had Serena's number as well...I am not surprised at that Kim plays like a Williams...Hard, Fast and Tough...But the way the match ended was tragic..Serena lost it on a bad call. She did a Johnnie Mac and was rightfully deducted a point. It happend to be a match point...
T...
She scared the hell out of the line judge...
The mikes picked up enough of the exchange. Sounds like Serena dropped at least 4 F-bombs while threatening the line judge. And that was just the first time. She came back a moment later and said more. Unbelievable.
And now she easily beat Serena! Nice!!! And it ended when Serena cussed out the line judge on a foot fault that gave Kim double match point. First she told the line judge she'd stuff her tennis ball down her throat and then it sounded like the second time she went back to her and said something else and that did it. What a loser. Serena's career may take a serious blow after that exchange.
LOL, plus some of the younger girls are cute. I think there is a better chance that we will see each other in some bar.Right now I am watching the Federer match, but just until Prison Break starts in about 10 minutes.
Okay Okay Okay....the best I ever did was
almost take a set off Joe Edles......just
using a little transference to Nadal. Maybe
I could get one point a set.
Agree with you on the boring side...I like to watch
womens tennis more. Hardly any serve and volleyers
on the men's side any more....I miss Edberg, Sampras,
Patrick Rafter etc.
Anyway, regards, maybe some day will see you in
the 75 and over division.
