TLLE to Further Expand Wholesale Distribution Business
With its recent divestiture of its long-standing Two-Way Radio Division, along with its Public Safety Equipment Direct Sales operations, Texas-based Teletouch Communications made clear its commitment to becoming a large scale wholesale distributor of cellular and consumer electronics. For over 48 years, Teletouch has offered a comprehensive suite of wireless telecommunications solutions, including cellular, two-way radio, GPS-telemetry, and wireless messaging. The move to focus on wholesale electronics distribution is clearly in line with the company’s long-term strategy of growing their distribution operations.
Teletouch already has a well-established footprint in both the retail and wholesale side of the business with its two major brands, Hawk Electronics and Progressive Concepts (PCI).
Known for their technical expertise and support, retailer Teletouch-Hawk Electronics has long helped Texans fill their mobile and wireless needs, adapting to the latest trends in wireless/cellular communications, Bluetooth integration, hand-free systems, and WiFi data cards.
PCI Wholesale has been a distributor of wireless products to carrier agents, rural carriers, resellers, and other wholesale distributors for over 27 years. They also have over 30 years in wholesale distribution to retail, sub-distribution, and large accounts.
PCI primarily distributes brand name products and support services to national market segments: car stereo and mobile video retailers, and cellular resellers and retailers representing all carriers. The company has been a market leader in both the cellular and automotive entertainment businesses, providing customers with leading edge products, along with all of the training needed so that its dealer customers can rapidly expand into evolving technologies.
Teletouch has been busy developing a variety of distribution agreements, and recently announced the signing of their first direct handset manufacturing distribution agreement with TCT Mobile, one of the largest consumer manufacturing companies in the world and the maker of the Alcatel OneTouch brand of cellular handsets.

TLLE Continues Sponsorship of the ESPN Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl
Teletouch Communications, a leading U.S. wireless services, cellular, and consumer electronics distributor, announced that it will be the Official Cellular Sponsor of the 10th anniversary Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl, being played on Saturday, December 29, 2012, at 10:45 a.m. Central. The post-season game will feature qualifying teams from the Mountain West Conference and Conference USA NCAA divisions and will be televised by ESPN and heard on ESPN Radio broadcasting from the recently renovated Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth, Texas.
Returning for the 7th year as the Official Cellular Sponsor, Teletouch-Hawk Electronics will once again host a free Global Calling and Photo Center for visiting troops attending the game. Men and women of the armed forces will be able to call and send professionally made photos to their friends and family across the globe, at no cost to them. This service has proved very popular with the troops each year.
“We appreciate what Teletouch-Hawk Electronics once again brings to our game,” stated Brant Ringler, executive director of the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl. “Providing the opportunity for our warriors to communicate with and send pictures to their friends and loved ones anywhere in the world during the holiday season is just a small ‘thank you’ for their dedicated service to our country, and represents what the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl is all about.”
“We are proud to once again be part of this great team of ESPN partners that honor our men and women in uniform,” added T. A. ‘Kip’ Hyde, Jr., Teletouch President and Chief Operating Officer. “With several thousand expected active military, reserve and wounded warrior guests, we are pleased to be able to provide our free calling and photo center. There is no better way to ring in the New Year than by watching a great football game and honoring our great American heroes.”
Owned and operated by ESPN Regional Television, the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl has featured the “armed forces” theme for 6 years now. Patriotic overtones recognizing all five branches of the service are prevalent throughout the game. Past Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowls have included fan-fest areas showcasing armed forces hardware, flyovers, demonstrations by several of the military’s top skydiving teams, the awarding of custom homes to wounded warriors, on-field induction ceremonies, armed forces bands and honor guards, the Teletouch-Hawk Electronics Free Global Calling & Photo Center, and the awarding of the annual “Great American Patriot Award” presented by Armed Forces Insurance.

TLLE Provides a Full Array of Wireless Solutions
Teletouch Communications, founded in 1964 and headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas, delivers superior consumer electronics, electronics solutions, and wireless connectivity services to a wide platform of consumers ranging from businesses to state and federal government agencies in the United States and around the globe. These products run the gamut and are offered through an abundance of retail locations as well as various direct distribution agreements with manufacturers and via multiple retail e-commerce websites.
Operating through its wholly owned subsidiary, Progressive Concepts, Inc., or PCI, the company also offers AT&T wireless services and mobile, portable, and personal electronics products through a venue of about 30 local company agents in the Dallas/Fort Worth and San Antonio areas. These agents, far from being merely part of a distribution chain for TLLE, provide expert sales, service, and onsite training for those lost in today’s mobile electronics revolution.
PCI, offering products and services under the Teletouch and Hawk Electronics brands (www.hawkelectronics.com, www.hawkwireless.com, and www.hawkexpress.com), provides a comprehensive suite of wireless telecommunications solutions including cellular, GPS-telemetry, and wireless messaging to an array of entities ranging from Tier-1 (AT&T) to Tier-3, and including rural carriers, auto dealers, and smaller consumer electronics retailers. In this configuration, PCI supports a network of more than 20 retail and agent-oriented locations whose knowledgeable sales and service employees assist customers in buying, understanding, and servicing such devices as the Apple iPhone and two generations of MTX Audio Thunder Marine amplifiers.
In business for 25 years in the same location, PCI offers auto and truck accessories, Bluetooth headsets, car audio and security, cellular communications, digital antennas for communication on land and at sea, tablets, marine electronics, and vehicle and travel chargers. The subsidiary also provides hands-free accessories, mobile video, navigation, and public safety equipment. PCI even offers rear vehicle collision avoidance systems by both Brandmotion and Boyo, featuring such “must haves” as a Ford aftermarket truck rear view backup camera to avoid the rare but devastating (and potentially lethal) accidents that happen in driveways or parking spots between trucks and compact cars or small children, or pets, all of which fall below the truck driver’s visual threshold as a result of a truck’s higher and wider profile.
In recognition for its reliable sales and consistent customer service record, and its all-inclusive Whelen and Havis product line of public safety, emergency vehicle lighting, and siren equipment, Teletouch Communications was recently accorded a multi-year GSA General Services Administration (GSA) Contractor license.
The GSA is an independent arm of the federal government which acts as overseer, protecting, managing, and allocating funding to various government properties and agencies. Addition to this select and limited GSA certified providers list provides Teletouch with a huge opportunity to demonstrate even further its exceptional handling of sales and service from a line of top quality products designed to assist city, state, and federal entities in responding to public safety and emergency management situations.
