In October 2017, Taronis announced that it had completed designing a prototype fourth-generation reactor after four years of work.
In this updated design, a much larger area is exposed to the plasma arc. It is expected to extract around 90% of the useful gas in the
first pass through the plasma arc so that the feedstock only needs to pass through the system once or twice rather than the six to eight times
in the current iteration. Simulations predict that this will reduce the amount of power required per cubic meter by 75%
and increase the gas production rate for the same amount of power by at least five times.
