ROFL! Good one...Welcome to the Board!
yup...that's what she said ie she wish she would have had something to record it...lol
Wow, that would make a great video!
so despite my protestations to the contrary, my wifey has decided to feed the 4 stray/feral cats AND squirrels this winter - never mind that it also draws out these GINORMOUS raccoons at night. So she throws peanuts onto the mounds of snow on the deck for the rodents, er, squirrels and puts out catfood in a plastic container for the cats. All winter, they have been co-existing actually eating away beside each other. Yesterday, one of the cats decided to become playful with his squirrel buds. He would crouch down and when a squirrel would be sitting there eating a peanut, he would pounce at it with no intention of catching it. Then the cat would throw some snow up in the air & swat it...lol. My wife said that this went on for about an hour until the cat got tired. Then they went back to eating their respective food not 2 feet from each other...she said it was a hoot.

Family pets fall victim to subprime crisis
by Mira Oberman
Fri Jan 25, 9:27 AM ET
Forget about the lost furnishings and finances, the most pitiful
victims
of the subprime mortgage crisis rocking the United States are the
family
pets.
Shelters across the country have seen sharp upticks in the number of
people giving up their pets in recent months because they have been
forced out of their homes.
And -- more tragically -- neighbors, police and foreclosure agents are
finding increasing numbers of pets left to fend for themselves in
abandoned homes.
"We're finding too many animals who have starved to death," said
Stephanie Shain, director of outreach for the Human Society of the
United States.
While some people dump their pets on the street, others go so far as to
lock the animal in a closet where their cries for help are harder to
hear, she said.
It can take weeks for an animal to starve to death and desperate
scratch
and bite marks are usually found on doors and windows.
"They will eat anything -- furniture, or carpet or wallboard -- to try
to ingest something," Shain said in a telephone interview.
"It's a very fearful and frantic and panicked situation for that animal
to be in."
While there are no national statistics tracking how many animals are
abandoned or dropped off at shelters, Shain said anecdotal evidence has
shown "huge spikes" in areas hardest-hit by the housing downturn that
shows no sign of easing.
Nearly two million families lost their homes to foreclosure in the
first
11 months of last year after failing to keep up with mortgage payments,
a hefty chunk of which were subprime loans.
That's an increase of 73 percent compared to a year earlier and
represents one out of every 63 households nationwide, according to
RealtyTrac which tracks mortgage data.
The Humane Society recently instigated a public-awareness campaign to
offer tips on finding animal-friendly rental housing and remind people
that pets are much better off in a shelter.
In one of the more shocking stories, more than 60 cats were found
abandoned in a foreclosed home in Cincinnati last May, shortly after
the
foreclosure rate began to spike nationally.
Twenty of those cats are still being fostered while awaiting a
permanent
home, according to Foreclosurecats.org, a group which launched art
projects to help finance the cost of caring for the kitties.
Most are not as lucky. Shelters across the country are habitually
overcrowded and underfunded. Even animals which stand a good chance of
being adopted are often euthanized in order to free up much-needed
space.
That's why one pet rescue group which used to only deal with finding
homes for hard-to-place strays has started temporarily fostering the
pets of owners in distress.
"Most of the calls we get are from people who really want to keep their
pets," said Melanie Roeder, the outreach manager at Chicago's Tree
House
Animal Foundation.
"We try to counsel them and talk about the idea of fostering, or
finding
a place on their own."
The group took in the cat of one woman who only needed a few weeks to
find a new place to live and is open to helping others.
For others who are not able to find such a quick fix, saying goodbye is
the only option.
"It's pretty traumatic for everybody, especially the kids," said Terri
Sparks, a spokeswoman for Chicago's largest shelter, the Animal Welfare
League.
"It's part of the family and they have no other options ... people are
telling us we're losing our home and have to move."
While moving has always been one of the top reasons why people give up
their pets to shelters, Sparks said more people started mentioning
foreclosures a few months ago.
About 15-20 foreclosed families are now coming into the shelter every
week with their pets, and police bring in two or three pets a week
found
abandoned in foreclosed homes.

These folks do a lot of good for abandoned and mistreated animals.Only takes a few seconds to help
get them food for the animals. Please pass this along to your friends.
Animal Rescue
Hi, all you animal lovers. This is pretty simple... Please tell ten friends to tell ten today! The Animal Rescue Site is having trouble getting enough people to click on it daily to meet their quota of getting free food donated every day to abused and neglected animals.
It takes less than a minute (How about 20 seconds) [actually it takes about 5 seconds, I tried it] to go to their site and click on the purple box "fund food for animals" for free. This doesn't cost you a thing.
Their corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate food to abandoned/neglected animals in exchange for advertising.
Here's the web site! Pass it along to people you know.

Dog retrieves his best friend - a cat buried in the garden
--Russell Jenkins
A pet dog missed the family’s dead cat so much that he dug up his grave
and brought the body back into the house.
When Oscar’s owners woke up the next morning they discovered the dog
curled up beside Arthur, the late cat, in his basket.
His owners, Robert Bell, 73, and his wife, Mavis, of Wigan, Greater
Manchester, believe that the dog had licked the cat clean before
falling
asleep.
Mr Bell said that the two pets were constant companions. Arthur, who
was
a large cat, used to help Oscar to climb on to the sofa.
Oscar, an 18-month-old Lancashire Heeler, had watched Mr Bell dig a
grave in the garden and then lower the cat into the hole.Mr Bell said:
“He had managed to climb out through the cat flap in the night,
obviously with the intent to get Arthur back. Bearing in mind that
Arthur was a huge cat, Oscar must have used all the strength he could
muster.
“Then he pulled him into the basket and went to sleep next to him.
Arthur’s coat was gleaming white. Oscar had obviously licked him clean.
It must have taken him nearly all night.”
Arthur is now reburied in a secure grave. And Oscar has a new playmate,
a kitten called Limpet.

Please ask Phil and yourself to pick in Rob's name. Nascar was everything to him.

Robin

This is her post to me:
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Hello,
This is Rob's wife Robin. I am very sorry to tell you this but Rob passed on this afternoon. He passed away in his easy chair just as he wanted.
I had just gotten done holding him to tell him I loved him when he passed. It was very sudden, but he just went during his sleep and was very calm.
I'm so sorry. He spoke highly of all of you. I tried my very best for him, but he just went.
Robin
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
The moderators on the NASCAR board, and Sue, will pick for him next year, and if history tells us anything, he will win the contest next year just like Marie did the year she died.
Must be divine intervention, whatever.
We are going to have a Memorial service for Rob (Goldman) tomorrow evening on the NASCAR board, and request that anyone that cares, please stop by and say goodbye to him.

Also, we are requesting that anyone that knew him or traded posts with him please, please send a PM to his account so his wife can read the posts at her leisure and see how much we cared about him.
