The Trump Solar Wall (or The Wall itself) may never happen . . . though
some sort of prototype designs may be small-scale funded and built.
I am thinking its best for the administration to multi-task its potential options for energy tech (including next-stage nuclear power plants).
Same for clean coal and NG.
Fuel Cells and EVs are rapidly evolving into coming energy systems, based on cleaner energy sourcing. Battery Tech is moving so fast, Tesla may find itself with old-generation battery plant tech on its hands at its NV factory. Latest breakthrough I noted was nano-scale carbon graphene that is not a strategic metal sourcing and way more capable storage efficient.
The real energy 'problem' is China is focusing on national funded and project directed alternative energy systems, and is not adverse to lower
pre/unit profit margins to gain market share. Free or Private Enterprise
in the western sense, is not as prepared to compete fairly against such state competitors.
Western capitalism is not at this time, necessarily willing to drop the petro economy. Volvo (purchased by Chinese
Geely) announced its plan to go solely EV and Hybrids by 2019.
No more gasoline engine cars.
SPWR and Total are presently set-up for the new energy economy.
I do expect SPWR stock price to continue to slowly fall, for now.
Its beginning to look like the Carbon Credit Economy is not going away, whether USA states chose to individually support it or not.
Of course, politically The Administration is siding with certain forms of energy emphasis in lock-step with its special interest donors and back-seat base? Which does leave us all wondering what will come from the EU centric process meeting, in coming months.
SPWR thus becomes an investment instrument that brides troubled waters.
re: Federal government policy verses local government and the market.
People that run for president will try to do what they say they will do. In this case, coal, oil, and gas are favored. There's some state and many local governments fighting the Trump administration's policies on global warming and renewable's by initiating their own policies. When there are many un-coordinated initiatives on renewable energy it's much harder to gauge renewable energy company's outcomes, and the risk we're exposed to on the market. That Sunpower is a global concern with backing by Total is reassuring, still, there's our policies. We've handed renewable energy initiative to China and Europe with our latest policies.
Meanwhile, some have been writing positive statements about President Trump's statements about border wall solar when instead everyone should be watching the administrations actions and policy enactments. Most disturbing was Travis Hoium of Motley Fool as that organization has some credibility for a sizable population of investors. It's good to put these events in perspective. Two to three hundred thousand homes fed by solar is dwarfed by a nationwide, Manhattan Project style initiative on carbon emissions. The later is closer to what we had with the incentives for renewable energy and disincentive for fossil fuel.
If one wants good long view or near long view investment advice, go to Valueline. If you can't afford it, got to a library that has a subscription. Motley has some excellent advice, but one should always remember that the investor takes all of the risks so follow up with deeper research.
Tesla leaving the Trump round table doesn't surprise me. Musk has vision that Trump doesn't understand. That's frustrating beyond anyone's skill with words to describe.
A primer on Musk vision
Quite good comment.
I would say Calif. may go ahead with solar on its portion of Western Border Wall . . . and Silicon Valley is not necessarily against solar electricity production. SPWR Total is committed to EU and world sales of solar cells. That kind of cancels out anti-global warning opponents desires, to stop alternative energy.
I agree (for now) SPWR may be controlled more by shorts . . . we shall find out by Oct.
Noted that Gasoline prices have dropped to say 10 year low range, though this may be partly due to attempt to hurt Russian national budgeting
increase and burn off some of the excess tank storage current?
Looking very much like Big Oil trying to force consumers to take road trips, and concurrently bring above heavy credit card funded vacations
expenses to keep business climate rolling along. <---one the few quick methods to get the economy improving, without recourse to delta defense
spending overseas.
If administration and congress (and FED) boost I rates more, it remains to be seen how this might effect SPWR . . . meaning domestic USA solar companies can lose domestic contacts and yet get foreign solar contracts.
I was somewhat taken aback that TELSA left the Trump Economic Round Table.
Any thoughts anyone on what that means for solar for EVs and households, etc. I also feel keeping some coal mining jobs active, is wise as a disaster energy scenario sourcing. Hard to hack Coal.
Trump and congress are hostile to renewable energy so it's not a good idea to put too much stock in his suggestion, building a solar border wall.
- Congress has proposed cutting 69.3% from Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy.
Department of Energy FY 2018 Congressional Budget Request
- Trump appointed Scott Pruitt to the EPA. He's a lawyer with no understanding of the mission of the EPA especially with regard to CO2 emissions. If he understood the issue, he wouldn't be saying what he's said in the past.
From March 9, 2017 -
EPA Chief Questions Agency’s Right to Regulate Carbon Emissions
- Trump's budget proposal eliminates the Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy, the Title 17 Innovative Technology Loan Guarantee Program, and the Advanced Technology Vehicle Manufacturing rogram because 20 Department of Energy the private sector is better positioned to finance disruptive energy research and development and to commercialize innovative technologies.
America First: A Budget Blueprint to Make America Great Again
Comment: With margins going so low due to oversupply it's difficult for solar companies to make a profit. Recent bankruptcies and quarterly losses in the solar industry prove this. So it's dubious to say "the private sector is better positioned to finance disruptive energy research and development and to commercialize innovative technologies."
- We've withdrawn from the Paris Climate Agreement, so there's no incentive to develop solar power to meet the climate agreement.
Serious government initiatives to support solar would dwarf a 1.4 gigawatt solar installation, enough to power about 220,000 average sized homes.
"Multiplying 812,307 by five, you get 4,061,538 panels in total. Since 72-cell modules usually produce 350 watts (W), you end up with about 1.4 billion W (or 1.4 GW) of power. Grieser says that's enough to power 220,000 average-size homes annually."
How many homes Trump's wall could power if it was covered in solar panels
Mr. Trump has very solar friendly idea: mount solar cells along the Southern Border Wall.
The actual Wall that gets build may only be mostly Electronic Fence.
Means ground sensors, video cams, guard towers, and drone patrols.
Certain sections (like continuance of Western present wall structures along coastal area) will become Test Builds of upon to 6 forms of
submitted contractor designs.
If solar cells installs become fence mounted or in some cases, just ground/pole mounts, they automatically become property of either state or
federal entities. Meaning, Federal or State crime to attack, remove, or disable them. Regular vehicle mounted guard/maintaining crews would service them. Sounds like a sweet supplement private contract for say SPWR or TSLA as service, of government (taxpayer) owned cells?
Throw in to this that the solar cell mounts on suitable sections of The Wall, would contribute to USA energy Independence via Grid or town/city
hookups and one has full filled various national energy and infrastructure and employment goals. What Congress could turn down such a logical program? The Wall would be paid for by producing all the above benefits as a form of low pollution, environmentally sound, worker jobs and taxes sourcing. USA citizens get virtually tax-free electricity. Wow . . . welfare for the taxpayers! And The Elites get paid to build it. Sounds like a Win-Win.
Same goes for Puerto Rica . . . use private funds to order SPWR solar cells installs for their Power Grid Upgrade needs and sell the electricity to PR: exchange the new solar cell funding for PR Bonds and guarantee the value of the PR solar Grid with physical $ producing tangible controlled capital asset.
Lets watch the stock price action next week.
Will SPWR roll down the Golden Solar Brick Road?
Plus no Coal in Arab Desert, but lots of Sun Gold.
As our Solar Cell Designs coming next year or so, are going to be Very Competitive Output % Design for Building-Out their damaged energy Grid.
Artl. today . . . total (EU co. owns 60% of SPWR), refocusing off oil products and moving into EVs, batteries, wind and solar farms.
Trump Admin. 'confused' and going other way (towards oil and coal)/
You cannot make this stuff up . . . LT SPWR stock price slowly climbing back up.
Lets also see what Fed I Rate increase does to Solar installs.
Long Range electricity rates going up via inflation. Get your solar cell installs now and beat inflation (if you own them out-right)? Hard to hack solar cells on your dwelling if you disconnect them from the grid. And, also difficult to hack solar cells grid installed as they do not include many moving parts hackers can attack via SW hacks.
Klein fishing for SPWR injured stock holders (as SPWR stock price near 52 week low). Ok . . . as SPWR and Total steadily bring up stock price . . . what happens to Legal Lawsuits? Who would be mentally challenged to proceed with a Law Suit if stock price is rising? Legal community would roll their eyes.
USA suddenly wants more energy independence . . . who will they turn to? USA-based solar cell companies that have proven quality install methods.
Safe, grid independent and proven solar cell installion USA company roofs. Trump Administration realizes that solar cell farm installs near or on military bases, gets super protection AND boost mil-bases ability to operate in national emergencies. Do not have to transport coal, etc. to base.
I do not foresee much more down movement in SPWR stock price.
If it go lower, I will buy more (right now seems basing 52 week low). This is fine company to bet on for 2018 and beyond.
Note Gold price went up today . . . we also are eco-energy 'Golden Investment' as insurance against rising Inflationary effects on energy from the Power Grid. You going to walk to the local quick-stop and publically trade Gold for "gas, etc." Just me . . . but I would take the solar cells and a green house in my yard behind fenced security.
SPWR has cash, and debt can be backed by power producing plants . . . not bad . . . this is no Dot. Com dream paper company.
SunPower says solar installation starts at new Toyota North America HQ
SunPower (SPWR +10.7%) is surging after saying it started work on an 8.79 MW solar system at Toyota's (TM +0.2%) new North American headquarters in Plano, Tex.
Once complete later this year, the project will be nearly 1 MW larger than its initial plan as well as being the largest corporate office on-site solar installation in Texas among non-utility companies.
As a result of 14 years of partnership, SPWR solar power systems are operating at U.S. Toyota facilities in West Caldwell, N.J., Ontario, Calif., and Torrance, Calif.
Before we look at the $20s, maybe we should work on the daily higher high and higher low...$6.30/$6.37
Anybody here know when the convertible bond is due?
SunPower (NASDAQ:SPWR) has put the 100 MW El Pelicano solar plant in Chile up for sale in an effort to cut costs, Reuters reports.
With the deal with department of defense for $96,252,862 for 26yr 3 month...
Any ideas on price movement or is it not significant enough at 3.6mil a year?
SunPower Corporation (NASDAQ:SPWR) And Cajon Valley Union School District In Solar Installation Deal https://marketexclusive.com/sunpower-corporation-nasdaqspwr-cajon-valley-union-school-district-solar-installation-deal/74096/?icd1
Some pre-market action over $8 this morning
I got some today, might sell premarket Tuesday. Closed HOD, should bring some eyes. All this for a new supply contract with a French company? Is that really it?
A surprising day here to say the least
Why SunPower Corporation (NASDAQ:SPWR) Presents A Mixed Picture For Investors https://marketexclusive.com/sunpower-corporation-nasdaqspwr-presents-mixed-picture-investors/72952/?icd1
As Clubber Lang would say: paaain!
SunPower Corporation Helps Convert Las Vegas Into Renewable Energy City http://marketexclusive.com/sunpower-corporation-nasdaqspwr-helps-convert-las-vegas-renewable-energy-city/53008/?icd1
Be worry now!
SunPower hasn't won any major contracts in the past six months. That's partly out of design, not wanting to lose money on highly competitive bids, but it's also concerning that demand may not return as quickly as hope.
I be long with SPWR a year and buy more when SCTY sell to TSLA. Go SPWR
No I don't. I think Energy in general will turn positive and that SPWR will ride its coat tails.
There may be some clearing of bad investments in people and assets.
Long SPWR.
Do you think SPWR be file chapter 11?
I agreed Crooked Hillary might have trouble staying out of jail long enough to marry her girlfriend. We certainly don't need that $%&@ as president.
TRUMP certainly cannot do any worse that the BANKRUPTED country that he inherited from Obama. He will get the US the respect we should have for our military and not run like a scared girl as it has been.
BUT lets get back to the stock. Long SPWR as the energy of the future company!
Ah ok gotcha, I apologize
Never said that, but he will do a helluva better job than that lyin', murderin' sack of crap Hillary
Not livin there, not from there.. i'm from down under, I am not politically swayed left nor right - I'm a realist. I'm sure there are really great Republicans who want the best for the US - but gimme a break.
Donald Trump is gonna lead the US to the golden land.?
A person without a country or not from US I see.
You live in the U.S.A.? Then he is your prez, sorry
You liberals make me sick. So much for democracy. Canada is waiting for you
Not my president pal & never will be..
OMG Man Up for your NEW PRESIDENT!
This is only goin up if Trump's campaign rhetoric softens & the new admin doesn't follow thru on his ridiculous positions which deny what 98% of world science wud be tellin him. That said, doesn't mean he won't follow thru with disrupting world trade, dismantling NATO & leaving the Paris Climate Accord looking like Aleppo does currently - a rubble. Anything is possible & solar stocks have reacted accordingly. Given there's a 2-month 'grace period' til the new admin takes over, i reckon its a good time to add a bit & play for a bounce purely as a contrarian play for the time being - whilst the focus on the President Knucklehead will be abt his tweets re: Mike Pence's visit to the theatre yesterday or SNL takin the piss abt him or him given it large ones - 'oh had I not been snowed under with new responsibility of bein President, I wud've won that Trump University case & not settled.. annoys me I had to pay 25M just cause I'm president.. so unfair!'..
Fasten up folks, mankind just hit a fork in the road.. & the sharp turn will be very, very rough & turbulent.. & exciting for those who survive it!
should have waited a little bit longer this play is going up up up
Out SPWR @ 6.60===4%

SunPower Extends Partnership With Solar Power Evangelist http://marketexclusive.com/sunpower-corporation-nasdaqspwr-extends-partnership-solar-power-evangelist/36341/?icd1
Mate; A/ Im dont have a vote in this election
B/ i am by no means a fan of crooked hilary
But.. trump is the biggest POS that politics of this size has ever seen.
Lying, scheming, manipulating clown..
So all Im sayin is dont vote for that dickhead.. to put it mildly
Go cast your vote for crooked Killary and doom the world, good one
Btw, I am all for science, 100%. But the people are kept being fed the same lies and BS on all topics if she gets elected. Nothing will change and the world will just keep getting worse
Them being who exactly - the aliens.. you need to follow your own words & do some research..
http://climate.nasa.gov/scientific-consensus/
There's a small starter for you. The fact that Trump even questions the legitimacy of the scientific evidence of the 'human effect' of a warming planet, further illustrates the disaster that awaits if that ridiculous excuse for a presidential 'reality TV' candidate named Trump actually becomes president.
its not real its cycles on earth that happens every so many years just a scam created by yours truly but if you want to send your money to help them fix something they are trying to destroy have at it, do some research of the weather from days of old its all there. think about it, if its happening its because of them.
What makes you think global warming is real? I don't know whether it is or not, but the Earth is constantly going through climate cycles. Unless Trump gets elected, expect govt BS and Clinton lies to continue running rampant. Unless of course, there is an uprising if Clinton wins through rigging the election.
Point is, global warming could or could not be real. The only people that really know are as crooked as they come or scientists who are silenced
Great day to announce results - Nov. 9..????????. Not sure bottom is in, especially if DJ Trump is elected, he who doesn't really believe that global warming is REAL..
