Yep, that should work.
Quasi, let me see if I understood you.
So, this:
[today close < 2 days ago low]
will work intra-day (I understand what you mean about 30 min and daily cart, yes it is for daily chart)
So, if I chose "last intraday update" for scan say half hour before market close, then scan will generally find stocks that are currently below two day's ago low? Is that correct?
I was afraid that "today close" will only work for after market closes.
That's great news for me and thank you for your help
Intraday Scans, daily & weekly.
Just to clarify the term Intraday Scans and the button at the top of the scan page "Use last Intraday Update May xx, xxAM"
These are NOT based on intraday time frames, 60min, 30 min etc, they are still based on Daily or weekly chart data. It just means that during the trading day you are telling the scan engine to take the last set of data points on the chart, say at 3:00PM or 1:30PM etc and set them as the EOD (end of day) market close data points, as if the market closed at the moment you run the scan.
Now for many of the 30,000 stocks in the Scan data base, which are fairly stable and predictable these values will be fairly close to the actual closing values. For some of the more volatile and thinnly traded stocks they could be off by a fair amount.
The primary values the scan engine uses are "Open, High, Low, Close and Volume", everything else is calculated at the time you run the scan, all overlays and indicators.
* Open; this is fixed at 9:30AM, or whenever the stock has its first trade.
* High; this can change thruout the day.
* Low; this can change thruout the day.
* Close; this can change thruout the day.
* Volume; this is the tricky one as its cumulative thru the day and should be avoided for the most part in Intraday scans. IE the volume at 10:00 AM will not be anywhere near the normal volume for the whole day. It is also not linear thruout the day so in most cases there is no way to prorate it thru the day.
hope this helps
Quasi
Quasi, I would like to bug you a little bit if you don't mind
I have a few questions but I will start with one:
Say I have condition, that today's close need to be below two days ago low:
[today close < 2 days ago low] (so far so good)
Now problem is, I would like to scan for this condition before market close.
How should I change upper condition, that half hour before market close I could scan for all stocks that are below 2 days low.
I understand why I can't use world today close intraday lol but I don't know if there is any work around?
They added the "blogger button" back under share.. Maybe I will get my stinker back after all!
Posting charts.
Noticed this information on the StockCharts.com site this morning.
Thought it seemed timely given the current discussion here.

Cush

mick but stock charts can not be posted on i hub anymore. The linkage button is gone. Am I seeing things or did stock charts get rid of it?
Aww man that post was really nice even mick chimed in. I hope time will tell..
lmao.. it's all good.. You see.. I suspect but am not certain that the linkable version button.. Now, locks in the chart style. It's just the voices in my head saying this but might work out in the end.. Time will tell. Still.. I miss the link.. All done here I guess. Problem was probably noted by many imo.
WoW! . . good stuff .. nice details.
Sorry, I never knew about that other way.
I only knew the "brute way" I showed you for iHub . . .
and never cared to hit the SHARE button for anywhere else.
Now that I WOULD like to share on facebook, THAT is very nice to know.
THANKS !!!!!
trending charts are very good pps helpers.
nothing like a beautiful trending chart may be upper or downer.
That was just for chuckles.. All serious traders have at least 3 LED's and many have much, much more.. Stockcharts 1600 pixels are wonderful things.. Long live sc.. If they are ever going to close shop they would need to email me and I would go crazy trying to keep them alive longer by posting 5 minute charts all day not cached with some nice overlays.
Still love the stockcharts.. Can't be beat imho.. I just posted an image describing in detail what I was ranting about. Back to other reads.. ttyl
I love all the flavors at stockcharts. I want more flavors added in the future. Time will tell.
Amen to the stock chart gods. The Pretty Green and Red, in patterns, you can never follow. The Stock Chart Gods gave us the thrill of trying. Ever try the Vanilla or don't they have Mint? Yeah I be making me some chocholate chip mint, but all they have is Nite....
Figured on Stock Charts if I figured out Nite, I would be one of them there Stock Chart Gods. But for some reason, the stock charts is been taken of the list.
I used to do this. Follow and understand.
Once upon a time.. I would for instance post a chart style like this.. cached below link..
Linked here:
http://stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?s=HOTT&p=W&b=2&g=0&id=p07107116908
However.. since the charts would later on, weeks later SOMETIMES end up looking like this and making me pull out my hair..
I discovered the share on ihub via this tutorial that was removed and replaced by another yesterday that only states twitter and facebook.
http://blogs.stockcharts.com/step_by_step/2011/12/how-do-i-share-my-charts-with-others-via-facebook-twitter-or-ihub.html
So the old way I found was
1 - click your chart in StockCharts.com
2 - click share button
3 - click ihub
4 - copy text in box given
5 - (scratches head)
6 - paste it here in your message
7 - and submit your post.
I mean nobody ill intent. I just needed to show you what upset me and someone else.. Only two of us and only me speaking out, so I guess it means nothing.
i'd like to see then again.
good question.. should have used a keyword.
where did do at? here? got symbols?
Is this a joke or something ?!!? . . .
You embed charts in an iHub message just like I've been telling you below . . .
just like you have been able to for the past 8-years that I have been doing it here.
I don't understand all of this activity on this board.
1 - click "linkable version" on your chart in StockCharts.com
2 - Update the Chart
3 - right click "copy the link"
4 - paste it here in your message
5 - select it
6 - click "Image" on the left here
7 - and submit your post.
Seven easy steps . . Too Easy! . .
.
I know this is no laughing matter! Still, That was me being silly via the share links only being "Twitter and facebook and "email to friend" when it should say "email to BCC:buymystock@webuyandselltonsofsharesinc.com" (jk) now seriously.. I miss my ihub link.. It's ok if you never change it back imo. It's like anything else in life I guess. Book stores all gone but a couple, radio stations all play the same thing (less choices). Going to a concert to have your ipod signed instead of LP vinyl. TV is just to make you think like Anderson Cooper after work.. I could go on.. No need..
The reason I took real notice. This message was sent to me by an anonymous user.
this is cracked up to show in my humble opinion.
MacD its 4 charts per post, not sure where you came up with the 4 inch chart requirement.

all stockcharts to be 4" wide? Perhaps all traders do not need HTML embedding or BB code embedding..
I doubt it as they could add a HTML embed or BB code embed choice.. Perhaps they think everyone is looking at 1600 x 8000 pixel charts on twitter via 4" iphone..
I prefer a 3D glasses and 46" flatscreen.. Cheers
Do you have a link to the 3 colored chart test I did yesterday. I can not seem to find it.
I am thinking that the stockcharts entire infrastructure has been updated and the linkable version is now also the share version.. This is more of a hope right now as there seems to be no others that are posting here.
Time will tell. I think it will be ok.
interesting.. I am just speaking of the embedding of fancy charts that may not have been effected at all. Can you pm me an example of what you mean?
I can not see many companies on advfn anymore. what is going on? I can not even see some of the big companies' financials? Does anyone have the same problem?
You got any intel on the inside about the ihub share removal?
Looks like the share option on ihub was removed for fancier charts..
LOL . . sorry . . here we go again:
FIRST remove the "http://" from your image URL ...
THEN add "[Qchart]" before and "[/Qchart]" after the remaining URL.
Do NOT put the 'Q' in those chart-tags.
.
wanna show us that again...no chart..good luck, michael
Yep..I got the same problem..good luck, michael
I can no longer get a chart from stockcharts.com to iHub.
I've always been able to click on the button below a chart
"share". And Investors Hub was offered with that (to copy/paste a URL).
Now it is not, there is only share with
help....
I am offered a linkable version
but haven't been able yet to set it up
to create a chart
I've tried adding [chart] before
and [/chart] after.
linkable version:

Here's a heads-up.
A new blog was added to StockCharts.com last week.
I subscribe to and use StockCharts.com to assist with my trading. When John Murphy and Arthur Hill were added several years ago with their messages, the value of the site increased for me.
Now this "Traders Journal" blog by Gatis Roze has been added. Again, I expect a lot of value-added. This is a man who knows what he is talking about.
Chip's announcement:
http://blogs.stockcharts.com/chipanderson/2012/04/announcing-the-traders-journal-a-new-blog-full-of-real-world-trading-lessons.html
The first Gatis Roze blog:

Good reading and good trading,
Cush
