Oh yes, that's the plan! eom
think of it as building a "engine " to generate more money . You don't spend the engine but you spend the money it generates so it can go on and on.
Oh yes, a great month! Looking forward to September Tim, getting a large sum of money and will be buying more of all the Big Stocks!!! Right now I'm excited and disappointed because I'm not fully invested in any of them, got enough to be happy though!
" big stocks " has had a amazing July !
Thanks Tim, this is actually my second buy, I was fortunate to get a small hit at .55 before it took off, looking to add alittle bit under 1.00, then more in September when my funds clear up!
Hard to buy right now with the gap, will keep the finger on the trigger!
sons - go for it . With a tiny float like this its worth a shot I think.
MKTY is very thinly traded and has a tiny market cap.
If you invest in this type of stock you have to accept that wild swings will happen. It is also the reason that any significant buying could push it to much higher levels.
Remember that ramp from .79 to 1.29 in 2 days on 4xs average volume?
Volume precedes price.
Sorta but when you do go back to those early march , late Febs daily for 2000 on Yahoo, it shows even higher, yet on the 20 yr (monthly) on TDA quite a difference/ Still confused but no matter does not affect present day. Case closed as far as I am concerned. Thx
Did the charts I posted for you in post 135 and 136 not help?
Darn tried to edit my last post. My DD shows this on TD AMeritrade - Charts - have not conquered Think or Swim- would scuba lessons help. : )
Going back to 1995 or so I found this the highest spike was in 2000 on March 1st to be exact.
03/01/2000 Open $68.125 High $101.00 Low $60.00 Close $71.00
Can anyone show me a different s/p?
I just read some document about Dr. Robb owning 5% of MTI Micro - with his Counter Point fund owning another 47&.
This is puzzling to me that 85 year old executive would put those resources into a company in the fuel cell market that failed so miserably in the last decade.
IMO - the assets will be sold to another company that has the resources to take the product to market.
To be a Board member is not a full-time job.
Directors usually get paid for attending meetings several times per year.
I do not know how much work Dr. Robb is doing for MKTY, but he is also on other boards as well and he may be still active as president of Vantage Management, Inc.
'since October 31, 2005, Dr. Robb has been a management consultant and President of Vantage Management, Inc.'
How much work can he be doing for MTI Micro Fuel Cells?
Good work - You all must realize I originALLY POSTED about them to show the use of methanol - nothing more. Now that is clarified.
To all who responded: As for the s/p reaching 200 bucks I use Trade Architect to verify and that shows 50 + never 200 bucks.
Either way at one time this company was viewed very positively, the s/p moving now indicates to me there is something brewing - what it is is what makes us stay tuned.
DD you say..."The investment world if full of companies with directors who get paid good money for their reputations even when they aren't really making good decisions." Unfortunately, often times that is true
BUT,..if you did a little more Due Diligence... you would have discovered that Dr. Robb is the "Lead Director" for the Mobion Fuel Cell as a member on the Board of Directors of MKTY
...not just Wallpaper
Yes. My ignorance is why they suspended operations in 2011.
The investment world if full of companies with directors who get paid good money for their reputations even when they aren't really making good decisions.
I do not know enough about Dr. Robb to say anything definitely. I personally do not see a future BIG stock with methanol fuels. Their may be enough opportunity here to see some gains on this stock, but I am not investing in methanol solutions.
Today's news reports that two different fuel distribution plants had explosions that seriously crippled their operations. One plant was a propane plant in Florida, one is a corn oil (maybe ethanol) plant in Kansas. Both cases are tragic. I am glad that neither plant is a methanol plant.
After a little more due diligence on UltraCell...which is owned by Bren-Tonics, of Commack, NY (20 minutes from my office and the largest supplier of Lithium Batteries to the Military..here is the spoop on the tecnology:
They do not manufacture the complete fuel cell. The reason? Ultracell is really only one part of a much more complicated and cumbersome system then the simple Mobion Fuel Cell.
The "UltraCell" uses Methanol as its "fuel" but must convert it to Hydrogen. It takes the Methanol Converter in the "system" takes 20 minutes to heat up to 300 degrees (do I hear HEAT as in OVERHEATING?), before it can convert the Methanol to HYDORGEN....it then feeds the Hydrogen to a "third party" fuel cell, which then converts the hydrogen into electricity.
Among the issues for commercialization beyond New Zealand? 1. High Heat it requires (not an issue with Mobion) 2. It requires "heating up" for 20 minutes before the process begins (Mobion instantaneous chemical/electric reaction) and 3. Two step process not direct conversion of Methonal to energy (Mobion is a direct conversion process..per patents)
Finally...while it was a "Joint" U.S. and New Zealand mission the Ulracel was tested on ...it was the New Zealand Military which endorsed it...the smallest Western Military in the world, and not the U.S. Military...it was not a vicarious endorsement by U.S. Military.
ps. Would Boeing want anything on their Dreamliner what required 300 degrees to operate? What if it overheated beyond 300 degrees?...IMHO the FAA would take a very long time to look at it.
DD,s comments on Dr. Robb show ignorance of the brilliance and creative genius of the lead director of the motion fuel cell for MKTY. If he weren't a valuable contributor and resource on any Public company's or national laboratory's board he would not remain. His ignorance of Dr Robb's sharpness and sought after expertise is only trumped by his ignorance of the superior technology and simplicity of the Mobion fuel cell.

To our new resident friend Double D
Congratulations on picking a winner in DSNY. How To Find Big Stocks Newletter was recommending it at .36 - .40 way before you showed up. It's too bad you are putting as much negative energy in on this board as you have postive on the Destiny board!
The new issue of HTFBSN explains clearly why MKTY is undervalued even at these new lofty levels, regardless of your great fear that they will gain traction with the Mobion Chip/Drone Industry.
Word to the wise here...you are going to come off on this board like Anydaynow has come off to the DSNY board.
Short of a market crash/collapse...stick around...watch and learn!
Good luck with your Destiny as well. HTFBSN early subscribers are sitting on a 300% plus gain on that one and if things fall right here, we'll be chuckling later at all your negative efforts here.
The Mar 2000 Spike due to the stock bubble shows the price over 200 per share. That was a stock manipulated bubble value.
I can find it on Yahoo finance, although it is a worthless number.
Here you go back in 2000, on March 20th 2000 $203.00 per share:
http://finance.yahoo.com/q/ta?s=MKTY&t=my&l=on&z=l&q=l&p=&a=&c=
I, for one, have read #88 what I was confused about is the statement the s/p at one time was over 200 bucks, could not find any data to confirm this. Anyone have this?
Going back 20 years I found it traded as high as 50 dollars - ? There was a r/s at somepoint 1 for 8 or something like that.
For those who want to read some excellent DD click on the link from post #88.
I found 46 good patents under MTI MicroFuel Cells - with no space between Micro Fuel, and 12 other patents pending. Patents are less than 10 years old.
So that is where some value is.
New York is moving toward adopting green energy according to the Associated press (here) while the Brookings Institution (here) found that the fastest growing cleantech segments of New York’s economy include wind and solar technologies. Renewable Energy World reported here on a recent study outlining a possible route forward to convert New York to Clean Energy. The state's Sun Initiative is also off to a bright start-here.
Some of the work to make the Empire State green is being done in-state. New York was second to California in Clean Energy Patents according to the Clean Energy Patent Growth Index http://www.cepgi.com/ New York had 37 solar patents, 9 hybrid electric/vehicle patents, 10 fuel cell patents and 157 wind technology patents.

As depicted, GE dominated all other New York patentees with 175 patents--mostly in wind energy technologies. GE's total also included a few solar patents, fuel cell patents and even a few hybrid/electric vehicle patents. Familiar name IBM followed in an unfamiliar place with 13 patents all in solar, except 2 hybrid/electric vehicle patents. Corning also had two clean energy patents in 2012, one each in solar and fuel cells, while the rest of those receiving clean energy patents in 2012 received only one.

True. The same can be said for Alzheimer's.
This guy is still on multiple corporate boards. Somehow, I think his activity on these boards is declining.
He retired from GE in 1992 where he did most of his R&D work in the late 80s. I can't see him researching new works at his age even if he is still very healthy and active. The labor investment is better spent on someone younger than sixty.
He started on the board quite a while ago, so he had to have a say in the decision to suspend MTI Micro's operations in 2011.
There is no age limit for an entrepreneur.
Dr. Walter L. Robb, now a management consultant and President of Vantage Management, Inc., was the General Electric Company’s Senior Vice-President for Corporate Research and Development until December 1992. He directed the GE Research and Development Center, one of the world’s largest and most diversified industrial laboratories, and served on the Company’s Corporate Executive Council.
Walt headed GE Medical Systems for 13 years. He directed that organization’s growth into the world’s leading producer of medical diagnostic imaging equipment, turning it into a billion-dollar-plus per year advanced technology business with more than 10,000 employees worldwide.
Is this the Dr. Walter Robb you are referring to.

Age: 85?
Director: MTI MicroFuel Cells, Inc.
Well regarded, yes. recent R&D? Not found.
Please remember that the last quarterly report stated that there are NO EMPLOYEES for MTI Micro Fuel Cells. The company is currently inactive.
What is there to Direct? A perfect job for an 85 year old executive.
The only patent document that appears for any Walter Robb, Inventor is for a Restroom Mat.
ID: D544,282
'CLAIM The ornamental design for a restroom mat, as shown and described.'
Actually very exciting...if you did thorough research into Dr. Walter Robb and his current R&D involvement in this area...
Sometimes Competition is not Competition...but collaborators...sometimes potential suitors...or potential licensees
Yippee, I found 192 expired and near-expired patents from before 1997 under the corporate name - Mechanical Technology Incorporated, using AN/"Mechanical Technology Incorporated". Some are from the mid-70s, but I haven't look at them all in detail. Less than 10 of these patents are less than 20 years old.
The company is in Latham NY.
Zero Patent applications under this company name.
All the patents that I select have no value to investors since the patent protection has expired.
How exciting is that? They can present these patent documents on the Antiques Roadshow.
I found 1 more patent, 1 patent application under "MTI Instruments"
With a 10/03/2002 filing date.
Keep looking you will find them, it's probably best you do some DD before you post. By the way I'm just posting information, not going to argue and waste my time, so put me on ignore now because you have been put there.
Thx ZTTM I am aware of both scenarios. Something is evolving here that is not quite clear to me yet.
Hoping for the luck of the Irish on this one w/ new CEO who wants to prove himself and shine positive light on the company's technology.
Time will tell shortly as 2nd Q earnings are due early August.
In the meantime the methanol BS is just that. Scare tactics imho.
Where are the patents?
www.freepatentsonline.com shows only 9 documents associated with MTI Micro using the search AN/"MTI Micro"
Only two US patents, one World patent application, and 6 other US patent applications that have yet to be approved despite being over five years old.
No recent patent applications - US or World.
The USPTO.gov site shows the same details without the World document.
If they have other patents, they must be under another company name.
Employees
As of December 31, 2012, we had 33 employees including 30 full-time employees.
How many patents does MTI Micro have?
As of December 2011, MTI Micro has filed more than 110 patents (including applications) with more coming all the time.
Our strategy is to apply for patent protection for all significant design requirements. We also enter into standard
confidentiality agreements with our employees, consultants, vendors, partners and potential customers and seek to control access to
and distribution of our proprietary information. We have developed a portfolio of patent applications in areas including fuel cell
systems, fuel refill and packaging, fuel, components, manufacturing processes, and system packaging. The issued patents expire
between 2020 and 2027.
Until its operations were suspended in late 2011, MTI Micro had been developing an off-the-grid power solution for various portable
electronic devices to address this power gap. Our patented proprietary direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC) technology platform, called
Mobion®, converts methanol fuel to usable electricity capable of providing continuous power as long as necessary fuel flows are
maintained. Our proprietary fuel cell power solution consists of two primary components integrated into an easily manufactured
device: the DMFC power engine, which we refer to as our Mobion® Chip, and methanol fuel cartridges. Our current Mobion® Chip is
small enough to fit in the palm of one’s hand. The methanol used by the technology is fully biodegradable.
The presentation gives a lot of details that I can't verify.
Patent count
Stakeholders?
The manufacturing 'line' looks about twice as big as my kitchen and dining room - which isn't all that big.
How are they going to deliver larger government contracts from that small work space?
One of their three Air Force contracts is just about filled from the order delivered in Q1.
I see only two US Patents by MTI Micro and the patent names are similar, so one patent could obsolete the other.
I see only 6 patent applications - all are 5-9 years old. So those may be dying on the vine.
Is their a different company name prior to 2004?
I am just wanting to find the facts, mam.
DD...No one is saying they are selling them, they have over 50 primary patents and 100 secondary patents on the MOBION fuel cell. They also had successful trials with U.S. Military, plus, MKTY has not announced other on-going talks, they might be having, but i believe Military application has already been proven with the Mobion.
MKTY could very well have a patent violations against Ultrcell, butUltracell tech appears to be similar but different technology, since H20 has to be added in the UltraCell, an issue with both weight and additional step in the process of converting Methanol to Electricity in a single light weight unit.

I suggest reading the Investor Presentation from their Shareholder Meeting.
Investor Presentation
Louisa,
I believe the S/P is going up mainly due to a newsletter that is put out called "How to find big stocks". You may have heard of it but if you haven't there is a board here on Ihub with that name. Maybe you want to go there. Great ideas on some new upcoming stocks.
I believe somebody mentioned insider buying as the reason for uptick but I cannot find any info about any of the insiders buying any. Maybe somebody else knows more than I do.
ZTTM _ I posted that to show methanol use. As to success of either companies I am not that far along in my DD. I do find it very interesting that the s/p has been on a steady upward climb and 2 nd Q results are due I think 'round Aug. 9th - 14th.
The conversation relating to pros and cons us using methanol drew me in.
Who says these guys sell Fuel Cells?
The MTI Micro division is currently inactive according to the last Quarterly report.
'Currently, MTI Micro has no employees and projects to spend between $5 and $10 thousand per month for operating activities including rent, limited sales efforts, patent fees to keep the patent portfolio current and minimal consultant costs to perform these initiatives.'
It seems Bren-Tronics, Inc. is the owner of Ultracell and neither one are Public Companies so no joy there. MKTY seems to be a competitor to the Ultracell but they are a Public Company that us peons can buy into.
Would be interested to know how the 2 compare in technology and who has the best chance of succeeding.
