At such instances, as a matter of policy, when adequate current information is not made available, OTC Markets will label the security as "Caveat Emptor." Promotional activities may include spam email, unsolicited faxes or news releases, whether they are published by the issuer or a third party.
Trading Range
Trading ranges can play an important role in determining support and resistance as turning points or as continuation patterns.

Market Order – a market order does not have a set price and is therefore executed immediately at the current ‘market’ price. Markets, especially OTC markets, can be highly volatile and therefore the price of execution may differ dramatically from the price at time of order entry. Those who use market orders are more concerned about the speed of the execution as opposed to the price.
Supply is synonymous with bearish, bears and selling. Demand is synonymous with bullish, bulls and buying.

With the exception of some foreign issuers, the companies quoted on OTC Link tend to be closely held, very small and/or thinly traded. Most issuers do not meet the minimum listing requirements for trading on a national securities exchange. Many of these companies do not file periodic reports or audited financial statements with the SEC, making it difficult for the public to find current, reliable information about those companies.
This method employs a top-down approach that starts with the overall economy and then works down from industry groups to specific companies.
If the broker-dealer cannot, or chooses not to, execute the trade internally, they must attempt to execute the trade with another broker-dealer. This often means accessing the security on OTC Markets Group’s OTC Dealer application and ascertaining whether the order is marketable. Marketable orders are orders where the price specified can immediately be executed in the market. Market Orders are, by definition, marketable. Limit Orders are marketable if the limit price is better than or equal to the bid price (for sell orders) or ask price.

The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regulate trading in the OTC market. FINRA's responsibilities include establishing rules governing the business conduct of its broker-dealer members.
Where Is Resistance Established?
Resistance levels are usually above the current price, but it is not uncommon for a security to trade at or near resistance.

OTC derivatives can lead to significant risks. Especially counterparty risk has gained particular emphasis due to the credit crisis in 2007. Counterparty risk is the risk that a counterparty in a derivatives transaction will default prior to expiration of the trade and will not make the current and future payments required by the contract.[2] There are many ways to limit counterparty risk. One of them focuses on controlling credit exposure with diversification, netting, collateralisation and hedging.

Because long-term charts (typically 1-4 years) cover a longer time frame with compressed data, price movements do not appear as extreme and there is often less noise.
Short selling carries with it unlimited risk because the purchase price of a security can rise to any price point. Conversely, long investors (buyers) may only lose the amount invested – if, for example, the security price drops to zero.

Press releases don't happen by accident; they are an important PR tool for companies. Investors should become skilled readers to weed out the important information and ignore the hype.
Priced quotations in the OTC Link or the OTCBB inter-dealer quotation systems are firm for certain minimum sizes. Minimum quote sizes are based upon quote price. As the price of a quote decreases, the size associated with a price increases. Mandatory sizes assure a minimum amount of liquidity in the market and add weight to a member’s firm quote obligation.

Once broker-dealers have created or updated their quote, they may continue to monitor the market; if prices change (to satisfy the limit price) they may send a trade message to another broker-dealer. They may also receive an OTC Link trade message against their standing quote or for a different price/size.
Resistance does not always hold and a break above resistance signals that the bulls have won out over the bears.

The NYMEX has created a clearing mechanism for a slate of commonly traded OTC energy derivatives which allows counterparties of many bilateral OTC transactions to mutually agree to transfer the trade to ClearPort, the exchange's clearing house, thus eliminating credit and performance risk of the initial OTC transaction counterparts.
The logic dictates that as the price declines towards support and gets cheaper, buyers become more inclined to buy and sellers become less inclined to sell.

From a trading perspective, liquidity is the ability of a security to be bought or sold without causing a significant movement in the price of the security. Liquid securities may be bought and sold in large numbers without a dramatic movement in the price of the security.
After an extended advance from 27 to 64, WorldCom (WCOM)[WCOM] entered into a trading range between 55 and 63 for about 5 months. There was a false breakout in mid-June when the stock briefly poked its head above 62 (red oval). This did not last long and a gap down a few days later nullified the breakout (black arrow). The stock then proceeded to break support at 55 in Aug-99 and trade as low as 50. Here is another example of support turned resistance as the stock bounced off 55 two more times before heading lower. While this does not always happen, a return to the new resistance level offers a second chance for longs to get out and shorts to enter the fray.

The FINRA OTCBB system, on the other hand, is a quotation only system, as it lacks the electronic messaging capabilities of OTC Link. Furthermore, only companies that are SEC-reporting (or bank/insurance reporting) are eligible for quotation on the FINRA OTCBB. Since these securities may also be quoted on OTC Link, many BB eligible securities are ‘Dually-Quoted’ on both inter-dealer quotation systems. Currently, 99% of OTCBB eligible securities are quoted on OTC Link.

Management
In order to execute a business plan, a company requires top-quality management. Investors might look at management to assess their capabilities, strengths and weaknesses. Even the best-laid plans in the most dynamic industries can go to waste with bad management (AMD in semiconductors).
