During his 20+ year career, Mr. Kales has launched and facilitated the start-up of several companies in diverse industries. His experience in guiding both concept companies and established operations through the challenging process of funding and stock market application has earned Mr. Kales a reputation for honesty, decisive leadership and reliable instincts. With respect to SDI, Mr. Kales will maintain a full time leadership role until such time that the evolving business requirements necessitate a CEO with specific experience in the non lethal weapons industry.
After serving in the Israeli Defence Forces from 1972 to 1975, Mr. Dor joined the Israeli Security Services (Shabak) as an intelligence officer. Working world wide in the International Aviation Security Division, Mr. Dor served as Head of Security for the Israel Embassy and El Al Israel Airlines in Cairo, Egypt, and later as Vice-Counsel and Head of Security for the Israeli Consulate and El Al Israel Airlines in Toronto and Western Canada. In 1989, Mr. Dor resigned from the public sector and opened a security consulting firm. In 1991 he was appointed Executive Director Security for the Seabeco Group of Companies where he oversaw international operations in Switzerland, Belgium, Russia, New York and Toronto. Today, Mr. Dor owns and operates a highly successful commercial company.
Mr. Rakesh Malhotra
Rakesh Malhotra has been SDI's Chief Financial Officer since January 7, 2007. A United States Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Canadian
Chartered Accountant, Mr. Malhotra graduated with Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) from the University of Delhi, India, and worked for A.F Ferguson & Co. The Indian correspondent of KPMG.
Having practiced as a Chartered Accountant for over ten years in New Delhi, Mr. Malhotra moved to the Middle East and worked for five years with the International Bahwan Group in a senior finance position. Between 2000 and 2001 he worked as a Chartered Accountant with a medium sized accounting firm in Toronto and then worked for five years as the Vice President of Finance for a private group of companies in Toronto. Since 2005, Mr. Malhotra served as CFO of Yukon Gold Corporation Inc. and a consultant to a number of public companies.
Ilan Shalev Eng.
Mr. Shalev brings over 20 years of experience in the development, production and management of multi-disciplinary systems in the armaments industry, with specializing in the military, police and civilian markets. Currently head of development of Elad Engineering Ltd. - the company responsible for the development of the Lektrox family of of non-lethal electric ammunition - Mr. Shalev was formerly General Manager and Head of Small Arms Development for Israel Military Industries. Among his many achievements, Mr. Shalev is credited for his work on the Negev machine gun in use by Israel Defence Forces as a service machinegun, the Desert Eagle pistol for police and civilian markets, the Crossfire and Timber Wolf rifles, and weapons stations for various calibre machine guns.
Haim Danon MSc., MBA Eng.
With a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Aeronautical Engineering from Israel's Technion, Haifa and a MBA from Tel Aviv University, Mr. Danon has built a career on his ability to accelerate the product development lifecycle, from conception to design, and distribution to support. Currently with Elad Engineering, Mr. Danon previously served as Development Manager for Elan branch in Israel (ELN @NYSE), as Product Manager and Chief Mechanical Engineer for Orbotech (ORBK @NASDAQ), and as a Manager of Aircraft Structure Design Group in the Israel Aircraft Industries Ltd.
Dr. Yoav Paz – Chief Medical Consultant
Dr. Yoav Paz is an award winning heart and chest surgery specialist, and a member of the European Society of Cardiology. Currently working at the Hadassah Medical Center, Jerusalem Dr. Paz previously served on the staff of several other leading hospitals – the Wolfson Medical Center and the Sheba Medical Center, Tel Hashomer. At Sheba he participated in a pioneering project that made computerized entry of patient data standard practice (a joint project with the Ness Company). Most recently, Dr. Paz initiated the Neovasc™ reducer – an alternative approach to treatment for patients with disabling angina who are not candidates for revascularization procedures, a project currently in advanced stage of development. Dr. Paz graduated from the Tel Aviv University Faculty of Medicine from where he later earned both a MHA and a diploma of higher education in heart and chest surgery. He also holds a diploma in Electronic Engineering from the University’s School of Engineering. Dr. Paz was a Major in the IDF Special Forces. Later he graduated the IDF’s Forward Surgical Team, Damage Control course and now serves as a reserve frontline airborne doctor. Dr. Paz also spent some years working for the Israel MoD's Security Services (Shabak) in Israel and abroad.
Emanuel Mendes – Consultant for Product Development
Mr. Mendes brings to SDI four decades working at the forefront of development in Israel’s leading technology industries. Currently serving as CTO of Syro Technologies and Intelijoint and GM of E.M.E., Mr. Mendes previously spent a decade as Amcor’s General Manager and Chief Electronics Engineer and Head of Phototherapy Dept. developing and producing computer-based products for medical diagnostics. Before that he was Manager, Electronic Hardware Dept. at ECI Telecom responsible for the development and production of multifunctional communication systems for land, air and sea applications. As Astronautics’ Chief Engineer he managed the R&D dept. developing military equipment for Air and Armored Fighting Vehicle applications, and prior to that he spent 23 years at Tadiran Communications where he was R&D Manager responsible for the development of military communication systems. After serving as a Major in the IDF Paratroopers, Mr. Mendes began his professional career with 14 years at Tadiran Semiconductors holding positions of Manager, R&D and Applications and Marketing Manager with overall responsibility for R&D, Sales and the SL Planning Center. He is also Israeli National Pistol and Rifle Target Shooting Champion. Mr. Mendes holds a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Israel’s Technion.
Dr. Nathan Blaunstein DSc., PhD. - Chief Scientist
Dr. Nathan Blaunstein is Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Ben-Gurion University, Israel and is a lecturer in the Wireless Cellular Communication Program. Previously an engineer and lecturer, from 1984 to 1992 Dr. Blaunstein was a senior scientist and a professor at Moldavian University, Beltsy, Moldova (former USSR). Dr. Blaunstein received an MSc in radio physics and Electronics from Tomsk University, Russia, 1972, and PhD and DSc degrees in radio physics and Electronics from the Institute of Geomagnetism, Ionosphere and radio wave Propagation (IZMIR), Academy of Science USSR, Moscow in 1985 and 1991 respectively. Dr. Blaunstein’s distinguished career features many achievements including the development of unique theories and mathematical models. In addition, he has published 130 articles, five books, six manuals and holds three patents.
Mr Sullivan has extensive experience and certifications in Use of Force and Firearm Training. He has taught these in both the public sector as well as private agencies including Law Enforcement at college level. Having trained with numerous Federal, State and Local agencies in Canada, the United States and the Caribbean Mr. Sullivan has accumulated widespread contacts in the field and has built an intimate knowledge of the needs, concerns and decision-making factors of various defence and security organizations with regard to the purchase and deployment of lethal and non-lethal weapons.

Dr. Mark Friedman Ltd. is a rapidly growing Intellectual Property Law firm based in Tel Aviv, Israel.
