So...looks like all analysts raised their price target to at least $6 and all maintained buy ratings. One has a price target of $12.
Never mind....RESN has XBAR not XBAW...sheesh..my bad.
Is Akts using RESN's XBAW technology to design filters?

my gut says a consolidation sub $4 for a while.
$4.85, up 24%. Sure is quiet here. I'm ok with that.
I'm seeing a lot of sells and buys for pretty much the same amount. Wondering if these are wash sales and buys for tax purposes. MM's seem to be taking advantage of this and walking it down as a result which makes sense as they would probably like to make a profit on a wash buy/sell.
I own shares in RESN. It was recommended by a friend.
I would like to see RESN Board get active again.

the PR that came out was this patent, but someone tweeted about it that either did not understand it or did and knew others wouldn't...

Lithium *is* used in batteries, of course, and it is used in pharma. In our case, it is used alot like gallium is used in gallium nitride - it is part of a compound crystal. Positive Li atoms and negative niobium oxide form LiNbO3 lithium niobate. It is a very good material for making electrical and mechanical waves interact - allowing a designer to make a very high quality mechanical structure that filters RF waves.
The patent is around new structures and processing methods to make better filters, potentially cheaper filters, etc. Murata has been doing the evaluation because of the promise of the patented technology. Had the patent been rejected, a competitor could have perhaps replicated the invention.
The combination of granted patent and technical proof of concept by the largest filter producer should have done more for the stock, but this year every time someone expresses a covid opinion related to the markets, the reset button gets hit again.
Every cell phone has a number of these filters - most designs use a filter for each LTE or 5G frequency band. It's a large number of filters per phone and a large number of phones (and iot devices, etc.). Individually the filters cost pennies and the income to Resonant is a small slice of that, but the numbers are large.
Like I said though, I have a very small position and have not run the numbers.
Question..Am I on the right path in thinking the patent announcement today is related to the lithium PR that came out last week? You seem to be fairly knowledgeable in this area of technology after looking at some of your previous posts.
https://pdfpiw.uspto.gov/.piw?PageNum=0&docid=10797675
Sometimes not sure if I should be invested in this as the technology is not in my realm of expertise and not sure I quite understand it. The patent news todays does sound good though.

The revenue from the milestone is really immaterial other than as it relates to needing to sell more shares. The only way this stock sees its real potential is if Murata and others use the IP in products. Then they get an ongoing royalty stream.
The milestone is important in that the experimental devices confirmed the advantages of a technology. I am not heavily vested enough to dig into details on any ove it, but I have been in SAW devices since 1979...
Thanks for your replies. You may be correct about the confusing news release, that was odd.
Today's news release is encouraging. Wondering why they did not specify how much the milestone payment was unless it is incorporated into the 10/19 news release with Murata. I looked on Murata's web site and could not find today's release, only the one from 2019.
I'm still having a hard time trying to figure out the potential revenues for this company. Am I correct in thinking it is around 10% of the filter revenues of whichever company manufactures them using RESN technology?
The news today about the milestone with Murata is for more significant - this is a 5G play and an IP licensing play. Getting into production at Murata (or Skyworks or Quorvo) is the play.
whoever put out the PR was trying to pump or was confused. Lithium is an element in the crystals used, but it has nothing to do with batteries or storage or energy.
The news yesterday regarding the patent using lithium is confusing. However, there is a need for 5G/6G technology in self driving cars which will be electric and could be why TSLA and the Lithium mining company are in the release also. So I'm guessing this could be a block buster market also. Not trying to pump, just trying to figure out how the patent news release fits. Any thoughts?
I agree, any idea of future revenue in the next year?
I doubt it would come into play until north of $5. They have plenty of cash near term and making good progress. Technically it seems poised to make a move IMO and the fundamental progress and valuation would warrant it. Just one man's view.

Strong recovery from December lows here.. solid volume and slow steps up. I'm finally back over my average price too which is nice Good things coming here for those who are patient, IMO. Commercial success sure feels more than ever like a "when" than an "if".

See https://stocktwits.com/TenFolds/message/182619199 for some musings on that. Nobody can say when profitable, but share price should definitely improve as revenue ramp begins.. long before profits are in sight.
Way oversold here IMO. I bought a few more today...
I have this company on my watch list.
But after reading the CC transcript it is not clear when they will receive revenue and become profitable?
Can you help me on this?
As much as any long here, I'm frustrated by the absence of material royalties this company has delivered. They have relentlessly failed to deliver in the time frames they set out themselves, over and over.
However stepping back and looking at the company today, their IP, the space they're in, the partnerships and clients they have (quality and quantity), I would argue they've never been in a better situation and that the downside risk here is very low now, versus the incredible upside potential.
If I weren't so jaded, and discovered this company and stock today and was comfortable with a 2-3 year minimum investment horizon, I'd say the exhausted retail long has given me an opportunity to buy in at a bargain price. And I'd likely take a position.
As it stands, I am a little jaded, and slightly below my average price. But taking the emotions out, the company has clearly made significant commercial inroads, and the valuation doesn't reflect the risk/potential here.
I'll be buying more in the coming weeks if the price stays in today's range.

News. Well, not really. This sums it up: "our customers shipped more devices in the three months of the third quarter of 2019 than shipped in total during the first six months of 2019. Royalty revenues in the quarter were also higher than in Q2, although they remain immaterial".
If 1.5MM units leads to immaterial revenue, then even the "tens of millions of units" they expected in Q4 may not be enough to turn the share price around just yet.
Still holding, but still frustrated.

Yes, this previously announced deal is a game-changer for the company and a huge validation of their products. Murata is the 800lb gorilla in this space.
If in addition to this deal, the handset sales this Q and next are as they'd said they should be (millions --> tens of millions) then we could see the stock rise to $10 or more before the end of the year, and next year could see another doubling, IMO.

Wow, very understated conf call just now. $10MM raised at above mkt price (at time of announcement), $7MM of which comes from their new partner. Partner has between 30 and 70% market share, and will pre-pay $9MM in exchange for lower royalties. This all bodes very very well for the company.
They would not come out and say it, but with the latest raise and $ potential from warrants, they seem to imply they'll turn the corner and get cashflow positive before EOY. And the new partnership alone could provide significant revs, albeit down the road several Q's.
Agree. Completely. Inflection will be sudden and highly impactful to revenue ramp. Simply taking longer as it does with many micro/small cap disruptive tech companies.
Once they sign a partner (expected Q2) it will better position them to accelerate. George seemed adamant on the call they see either revs ramping very quickly or non-dilutive cash infusion when asked about concerns for present cash runway. Royalty avg on chips of 9.25% and growing.
“Millions” of units shipping Q2. “Tens of millions” Q3 and ramping further into Q4
Never heard George so bullish. 70+ employees. 18 with PhDs. Things are progressing.
Strong move up happening, but not on strong volume. Once revenue ramp starts and they're reporting it, this stock should see super strong gains.

I've been long-term bullish on RESN for over 4 years, but I'm feel better today about the investment that at any point in the past. I think we're done languishing under $5 where we've been for most of the past 4 years.
Pre-market doesn't look kind, .. if it drops much more from here I'll be adding.
Be careful licensing IP especially in the wireless arena is not an easy task.
I speak from experience having been an IDCC investor for over 20 years.
Ty. Thanks for feedback. Haven’t listened to call yet but been in name for 4 years waiting for this to blossom.
Good to hear revenue ramp is happening now in Q2. Already halfway through. So guidance for Q2 should be accurate.
Curious to see how market reacts tomorrow. I expect green if they listened to call and didn’t panic on headline alone.
GL
Whoa.. on the call just now.. they said customers shipped 800k units in Q1 (revenue was a paltry $134k), but they expect "millions" in Q2 and "tens of millions" in Q3. That would translate to $15-30MM in annualized revenue.
They also described their XBar as "the cat's meow" of the 5G chips, offering double the next best chip's bandwidth.
The management team has never sounded more bullish (and I've been listening to these calls for a few years now).
Has Resonant finally turned a corner? Are they really on the path to a $100MM++ revenue company that they always claimed they can be? Is this a $1bn company in the making, or a $5bn one a few years further out?
News: Resonant Inc. Expands Relationship with Its Largest Tier 1 Customer
Mar. 29, 2019 7:00 AM
Two new designs include a high-performance filter targeted specifically to compete with higher-cost BAW solutions
GOLETA, CA / ACCESSWIRE / March 29, 2019 / Resonant Inc. (RESN), a leader in transforming the way radio frequency, or RF, front-ends are being designed and delivered for mobile handset and wireless devices, signed two new license agreements with an existing Tier 1 filter customer, another ongoing validation in the confidence Resonant's customers have in the power of its Infinite Synthesized Networks® (ISN®) software platform.
The new license agreements include a design for a high-performance filter using TC-SAW that will compete with current higher cost BAW solutions and a single package multi-band duplexer to address non-carrier aggregation cases with China handset vendors. The designs leverage Resonant's ISN platform, which significantly reduces time to market for these complex designs.
''These two new license agreements, for designs of high-performance SAW filters targeted to compete with current, more expensive BAW solutions and to address the sizeable China mobile handset market, demonstrate the power and flexibility our customers find using our ISN platform,'' stated George B. Holmes, CEO of Resonant. ''As our ISN platform can also significantly reduce time to market, our customer believes there is the potential for sampling and revenue from these designs as early as late 2019.''

Resonant’s Strategy to Tackle 5G
By Daniel Carlson -February 13, 2019
Trading up well over 100% in 2019, Resonant (RESN) is the best performing stock in Tailwinds’ Universe. However, this strength is more of a bounce of an extremely oversold condition. There remains significant upside in shares of RESN…if they can execute on their goal of disrupting the RF filter marketplace.
To date, we have been, and remain, very excited about the company’s ISN platform. They have developed a software product that enables faster and cheaper designs of filters. The original plan was that phone manufacturers would be large buyers of these filters. Why wouldn’t they be, right? The products save money and that being price competitive is the key to survival in electronics manufacturing.
The truth, however, was that there’s more to gaining market share than building a portfolio of me-too products. Resonant’s products are indeed everything they are advertised to be. The problem is that gaining customer traction as a small piece of the supply chain is harder and takes longer than anticipated.
When Resonant talks to customers, they have been facing headwinds. Their products compete against those from big companies like Broadcom and Murata. Customers switch from these companies very reluctantly as they have a proven track record of volume production of a qualified, reliable product.
At the same time, RESN designs are going head to head against internal design groups. When your buyer might have to lay off their team if they shift to your product, there will be a major internal discussion (battle?) before any shift is made.
All of which means that, to date, Resonant has delivered on products and design, yet failed to meet expectations with ramping royalty revenues as their customers transition to OEM sales. . Don’t get me wrong, they have been making continual progress and getting closer to an inflection point, but with a royalty-based business model, in the risk averse smartphone market this has been slow.
ISN Leads to Faster Designs
To be clear, this note is not meant as an attack against Resonant. They have delivered technically, which is the most important thing they can do. Yes, sales have been slower to materialize than expected…or guided to, for that matter. But, behind the scenes the progress has been substantial. In this regard, I’m referring to their revolutionary ISN platform.
The ISN product developed by Resonant is indeed industry changing. As a refresher, it enables RF filters to be designed primarily in software. Instead of drafting designs that need to be fabricated, tested, then reconfigured, refabricated, etc., ISN allows the bulk of the design work to take place in the software. The result of this is the ability to create designs much cheaper and faster than otherwise possible.
The other benefit of designing in software is the ability to try new designs and structures without needing a fab nor a significant budget. A radical new design can be tried in software to the level at which its future performance is well enough understood to give it the green light on fabrication. Thus, many possible changes to design and structure of a filter can be sampled theoretically before launching prototypes.
Which leads us to 5G. As someone said to me the other day, “If all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.” Broadcom and others are taking existing filter designs and working diligently on improvements to get them to 5G. This is a long and slow process. And, it might never get there.
5G…A Game Changer?
You may have figured out where I’m going with this story by now. Little Resonant starts out trying to make existing products cheaper and faster, and finds validation of their designs in 4G in a very mature and competitive market. Then Resonant applies the power of its ISN tool to the nascent 5G market.
The next generation of cell phones will all be running on 5G networks. What this means is that much (much!) more data, in particular video, is going to be pushed out to phones. In order to have the bandwidth to support this, network operators are moving to spectrum with broad swaths of availability. This exists in the spectrum north of 3 GHz.
Future filters need to work over a larger bandwidth and also at much higher power. These are the two demands of 5G and the complexity of this shift is leading to many technological challenges. In the RF filter space, Resonant saw that current filter building blocks were going to have a tough time adapting to these new demands; if ever.
Which is the genesis of XBAR, Resonant’s answer to the 5G issue. XBAR is a 5G filter platform. It is also the first product in Resonant’s portfolio that is not simply a better version of an existing product. Instead, XBAR is a whole new structure for filters.
As such, XBAR represents a major tactical shift for Resonant. With XBAR Resonant hopes to be the first to market with a high performing 5G filter for cell phones. Sure, the other filter manufacturers have products, but, in initial testing, it appears the specs on XBAR could offer vastly better performance, particularly in regard to interference as 5G traffic inevitably picks up.
MWC…The Big Unveiling
Later this month, the wireless world will converge on Barcelona for the Mobile World Congress. This is where the first XBAR filters for 5G, currently being fabricated for the Congress, will be revealed.
How will this be received is the big question for investors. I believe there will be two reactions. The first is going to be great surprise and delight. The product being shown will be revolutionary. The structure is very different from the typical BAW structure. Mobile phone manufacturers should be very enthusiastic.
Unless, of course, you were around for the development of FBAR. The current standard in filters took 10 years to perfect. For those in that process, XBAR will look very premature. Except for one thing; ISN. With their design platform, the timeline to development of an acceptable XBAR product available for installation in phones should be degrees of magnitude shorter.
At Tailwinds, having dug deeper into XBAR and having gotten a much better understanding of the product, we are in the excited camp. This product is a game changer for RESN. Instead of fighting for market share in existing product lines, they are moving towards being a leader in the hottest area of wireless: 5G.
We believe RESN needs to be reevaluated based on XBAR. If the product is as successful as it appears it may be, this stock could truly become a 5G must own. There is work to be done, and a product to be proven, but the potential appears greater than ever.
5G will begin to arrive in 2019/2020 although, like anything else, there will likely be obstacles and bumps along the way. Verizon, AT&T, Sprint have promised 5G devices for the first half of 2019, while T-Mobile says a nationwide network will launch in 2020. RESN technology, patent protected, is key to creating cost-efficient 5G phones. 5G will offer faster data and longer battery life. Network availability will be limited at first, but the world will demand 5G. Apple stumbled this past year. 5G’s ability to transmit huge of amounts of data, nearly instantaneously, will unlock many new technologies that humans have dreamt of for decades. Apple and others must get with the program or become extinct. Putting it all together, RESN will rise with the demand for 5G although not in a straight line.
