Pulse Electronics' mCOMET Tunable LTE Antenna Provides 9 Bands in the World's Smallest Antenna Space
2:03 AM ET 2/25/13 | BusinessWire
Pulse Electronics Corporation (NYSE: PULS), a leading provider of electronic components, announces that it has developed a tunable, co-located LTE antenna structure. The developed structure contains two Long Term Evolution (LTE) Multiple Input, Multiple Output (MIMO) antennas in the same end of one device to provide 9 frequency bands of functionality in a volume of just 3.20 cubic centimeters. Called mCOMET, this tunable metal ring antenna configuration is for use in smart phones using RF chips with a two pole double throw (2PDT) antenna switch and metal ring feature.
"With screen and battery sizes increasing while handset architectures remain the same, tunable antennas need to offset the size vs. bandwidth vs. efficiency problem," said Maritta Timosaari, marketing director, Pulse Electronics Mobile Division. "Pulse has done that by putting two tunable LTE antennas together in a space of just 3.20 cc to achieve 9 operating bands for smart phones in the world's smallest antenna space. This provides the user with a better experience in a thinner phone."
Pulse Electronics' new antenna configuration houses the antennas in a metal chassis with a dielectric antenna carrier and antenna volume of 10x74x5mm(3), including USB, and with a minimum ground clearance on the printed circuit board of two times 30x8mm for the two antennas together. The primary and secondary antennas are located at the bottom end and on the side of the device, increasing the number of operating bands at the same end of the device. No additional space is needed for antennas, enabling more freedom of design. Frequency bands for both antennas are a low band of 698-960 MHz and high bands of 1710-2170 MHz and 2500-2690 MHz. The low band envelope correlation coefficient (ECC) is below 0.5. This high performing antenna has a minimized hand-effect so if the user's hand is covering one antenna, transmission is switched to the other antenna (2PDT switch). There are equal transmission line lengths from engine to antenna so equal losses from the line. As it's a modular system, there are numerous integration possibilities.
This new extension to Pulse's tunable LTE antenna offering further strengthens Pulse's role as complete antenna solution provider for smarter devices. The Pulse Electronics' LTE tunable antennas are custom configured to the customer's requirements. They are RoHS compliant and come packaged in trays. Engineering samples are available.
Pulse Electronics experts will be available at Mobile World Congress, Barcelona, Spain, February 25-28, 2013, to discuss these new antennas and other Pulse antenna products. Long way to the 60's, we will see.
Well it's sure heading in the right direction but .65 is still a long way off. I for one hope you are right and will be on here giving that once we double current PPS.
"Wait, could that Ambitions guy be right? No way he called this."
-You
I would stay away today.
There was some problems across a couple of retail trading platforms today, and it looks like several stocks are up quite a bit on nothing.
It's a trap!
Crazy stuff..but I love to see it especially on a Friday.
LOL...I've already been there done that..lol
Patience my friend.
Just because I'm a nice guy, I'll tell you about the best stock available right now.

Pulse Electronics Introduces Ultra-thin NFC Ferrite Sheet Antenna
8:03 AM ET 2/19/13 | BusinessWire
Pulse Electronics Corporation (NYSE: PULS), a leading provider of electronic components, introduces a near field communications (NFC) antenna that is 40% thinner than similar NFC ferrite sheet antennas, while still complying with the EMVCo specification. The new ferrite sheet antenna enables mobile devices to read data from a distance of up to 40mm to enable them to communicate with other wireless devices for payments, access and control, credential storage and exchange, and content consumption. EMVCo specifications ensure global interoperability and compatibility of chip-based payment cards and acceptance devices.
"Reliable antenna solutions are needed for user-friendly and safe contactless commerce, as data from IHS iSuppli predicts shipments of NFC antenna-equipped devices to reach 580 million units by 2015," said Maritta Timosaari, sales & marketing director, Pulse Electronics Mobile Division. "Pulse's new NFC antennas are not only thinner, but they have excellent signal integrity, can be customized to the varying sizes of handset mechanics, are easy to implement, and enable safe, non-contact, wireless communication for NFC connectivity to mobile devices."
Pulse's thinner NFC antenna sends and receives clear signals even when installed in a handset in close proximity to the battery or metal housing. It is 35x50mm in size with a minimum thickness of 0.185mm and a pad size of 2x2mm. The antenna is constructed of a thin ferrite with one-sided flex and a thinner adhesive. The contacts are in the antenna for easy implementation and a smaller area. To achieve the EMVCo target reading distance of 40mm the mechanics are optimized with the antenna. Pulse customizes its NFC antennas, matching the circuit values for the device, so tuning is all that is needed to integrate it into the mobile device.
The NFC ferrite sheet antennas are RoHS compliant, come packaged in trays, and are ready for volume production. They are available in a variety of sizes and can be configured to a customer's specifications. Pulse can optimize multi-antenna configurations with an NFC antenna for all-in-one solutions. In-house testing and measurement are done at Pulse Electronics' global facilities to ensure that the antenna will perform optimally throughout its life cycle.
Pulse Electronics experts will be available at Mobile World Congress, Barcelona, Spain, February 25-28, 2013, to discuss these new antennas and other Pulse antenna products. Pulse Electronics Introduces Pin-in-Paste RF MoCA Filter Modules
8:03 AM ET 1/30/13 | BusinessWire
Pulse Electronics Corporation (NYSE: PULS), a leading provider of electronic components, introduces RF MoCA (Multimedia over Cable Alliance) filter modules that are pin-in-paste compatible. Pin-in-paste manufacturing uses a reflow instead of a wave soldering process to apply solder to the components, saving time, increasing throughput, and reducing costs. These filters are compliant with MoCA 1.1 and 2.0 requirements and are qualified with leading MoCA silicon vendors. A filter module can be configured as a multiband diplexer/triplexer with CATV (Cable TV), satellite, and DOCSIS (Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification) frequencies with an optional built-in surge protection. They can withstand a maximum reflow temperature of 260 deg C and operate over an extended temperature range of -40 deg to +85 deg C.
"The ability to use pin-in-paste technology to reflow solder these modules to a circuit board presents significant savings to set-top box manufacturers," explained Muhammad Khan, product manager, RF Products, Pulse Electronics. "In addition, you get the advantage of having filter modules that meet the highest industry requirements and that can operate in rugged environments over an extended temperature range."
The pin-in-paste method (also called pin-in-hole, intrusive reflow, or through-hole reflow technology) is a process that allows through-hole components to be reflow soldered instead of wave or hand soldered. Using solder reflow eliminates the cost of wave soldering equipment, saves manufacturing floor space, is a no-clean soldering process, reduces heat stress at the component level, is compatible with existing processes, and results in higher reliability at the printed circuit board level due to fewer soldering processes. With pin-in-paste technology, the RF filters can also be inserted into the PCB using industry standard pick-and-place equipment, eliminating the need for manual component placement.
Pulse's RF filters are designed to provide maximum isolation between the bands with excellent return and insertion loss. Pulse offers catalog and MoCA IC suppliers qualified filters to meet the specific needs of each customer. Even in high volume production, these filters are 100% tested to the specifications.
Pulse Electronics' new RF filter modules are readily available. Price and delivery time are available upon request. More information can be found on the Pin-in-Paste MoCA Filter Module data sheet at http://www.pulseelectronics.com/download/3819/pulsefilterguide and on the Pulse Electronics website at http://www.pulseelectronics.com/PinInPasteRFMoCA.
