The ticker no longer exists, thus the (fka) formerly known as PUSH is for I-Hub reference only, ie., when someone wants to access the message board it is easier to remember a former ticker than the company name.
Why did they have a ticker symbol if there are privately held?

Publix Recognized as one of FORTUNE's 100 Best Companies to Work For
LAKELAND, Fla., Jan. 21, 2010 – For the 13th consecutive year, Publix has been honored as one of FORTUNE magazine’s “100 Best Companies to Work For.” Publix was ranked No. 86 on this year’s list and was one of only 13 companies to have made the list every year since its inception in 1998.
Publix also ranked No. 29 on FORTUNE’s Best Large-Sized Company list, one of only four companies on the list with more than 100,000 employees. On FORTUNE’s Big Pay list, Publix ranked No. 27 for salaried employees and No. 84 for hourly employees. Publix also made the FORTUNE list of 18 companies to never have had a layoff and was the only company with more than 100,000 employees on this list.
“This recognition goes straight to our people who help make Publix a great place to work every day. All of our retail and support associates should be proud of this achievement,” said Publix CEO Ed Crenshaw.
According to FORTUNE, a driving factor for the companies on this year’s list were hiring and the ways in which companies are helping their employees weather the recession.
Two-thirds of a company’s score is based on a survey, which is sent to a random sample of employees. The survey asks questions related to their attitudes about the management's credibility, job satisfaction, and camaraderie. The remaining third is based on a company’s responses to the Culture Audit questionnaire, which asks detailed questions about pay and benefits programs, and open-ended questions about hiring, communication and diversity. The story will appear in the Feb. 8, 2010, issue of FORTUNE. More information about the survey and how companies were ranked can be found at FORTUNE’s Web site, www.fortune.com.

Up 600% today...oh well...wait for something EXCITING to happen...
...then who knows...posters maybe? Bah hum bug!!!!!
I work with a guy who move to NC in 1984 from "the cigar city".
I told him I just started a board for a grocery chain in florida that has a really good deli but couldn't remember the name of it...only that it starts with a P. He immediately said "Publix".
OT
If you ever find yourself travelling 77N to Virgina...get off exit 82 and visit downtown Elkin! I have a small furniture store downtown beside Wachovia. You could give me some tips on this "Ihub thing" and I could buy lunch.
I lived in Orlando area until about 5 years ago. I miss Public's too. Living in North Carolina now and there isn't one chain that even compares. The Bakery departments here are the worst followed up by the Deli.
Originally from the north with fine grocery stores. Publics is the only chain that even resembles past shopping experiences.
OT: I know this makes no difference but...I saw your fishing pic a long time ago and thought you were the guy on the right. I saw it again tonight and realized your the guy on the left...oh well!
Going there next weekend and fully intend to get me a sack of Publix chicken fingers and BBQ sauce!
You'll just have to visit God's country from time to time...
I love Publix!!! I've missed this place so much since I moved to California.
They've got the BEST deli.

Q: How old do you have to be to work at a Publix store?
A: Federal and state laws regulate the employment of minors. These laws specifically regulate the hours that individuals under the age of 18 may work, the occupations in which they may be employed and the hazardous equipment and/or materials from which they are restricted. Publix only accepts applications from job seekers who are at least 14 years old. However, not all of our stores hire minors due to the positions and shifts available at each location.
Q: What positions can a minor apply for?
A: If you are 14 or 15, you could be considered for Front Service Clerk ("bagger"), Cashier or Floral Clerk. If you are 16 or 17, you could be considered for those positions, as well as for eight others: Bakery Clerk, Demonstrator, Dairy Clerk, Frozen Food Clerk, Housewares Clerk, Grocery Clerk, Produce Clerk or Health & Beauty Care Clerk. See our Job Description Chart for more details.
Q: How do I apply?
A: Go to the store where you want to work and look for the Job Application Center. Use the computer to provide Publix with your information. (Most applicants complete this process in less than 20 minutes.) Nearby Publix stores may also see your application, so if you are called for an interview, please make sure you know where to go for the interview.
Q: How do I know what positions are available at a specific store?
A: Each Publix location has different needs. When you apply at the Job Application Center inside the store, a flyer above the computer monitor indicates the positions available at that store. Remember that other stores may view your application, and hiring needs can change quickly within stores, so don't be discouraged if the position you want isn't listed. Apply for all of the jobs you are interested in.
Q: If I am interested in a position in one of your stores, where do I send my resume?
A: We do not process resumes for non-management store positions. All applications for our stores must be completed in person at the store of your choice.
Q: Will I be called after submitting an application?
A: Only applicants who are chosen for interviews are called. Store Managers wish they could call every applicant and thank him or her for considering Publix during a job search. However, the number of applications we receive makes that impossible.
Q: How long is my application active?
A: For 30 days. If you don't hear anything within the first month after you apply, we encourage you to return to the store to update your application, which will make it active for another 30 days.
Q: Can I update my application at any time?
A: Yes. You don’t need to wait 30 days to do so.
Q: What is Publix' environmental policy?
A: Publix is committed to preserving and improving our environment. Our goal is to reduce, reuse and recycle as much as possible. The cornerstone of our corporate conservation program, which has been called "Get into a Green Routine" since 2002, really began with our cardboard recycling program in the early 1970s. Our "Green Routine" program has been so successful, we were awarded the Council for Sustainable Florida large business award in 2007. Also, we are a partner company in the Environmental Protection Agency's "Energy Star" and "GreenChill" programs.
Q: Where is the corporate office located?
A: Our address is 3300 Publix Corporate Parkway, Lakeland, FL 33811. Please note that Publix Corporate Parkway is also known as Airport Boulevard.
Q: I received a check that appears to be from Publix, and the letter that came with it says I won a lottery or was chosen to be a mystery shopper. Is this a genuine check?
