Steve - Nothing to do with PLUG, but congratulations. Most folks have no idea about that area of Vegas. Snow capped mountains, skiing, tall trees ..
I hope you don't have to manage many stairs. Going downstairs is especially painful.
Kudos on Qualifying for Boston.
Can we get back on topic now please?
Good news! I completed the Mt. Charleston marathon in 4:09:02 which qualifies me for Boston in 2025 with almost 11 minutes to spare so I will not get cut. This year cut off was over 5 minutes from the BQ time. Maybe by Thursday I'll stop hurting so bad. I have been running for a bit over 11 years now and it took me 7 marathons to finally make it.
B_B - Off Topic ? No mention of Hydrogen or PLUG ?
China’s AS700 airship completes maiden ferry flight
BY MIQUEL ROS 2024-04-03
China’s new civilian airship, the AS700, completed its maiden ferry flight on April 2, 2024.
The flight took off from Jingmen and landed at Jingzhou, both in Hubei province of Central China, after a flight of one hour and 46 minutes.
The AS700, which is the first Chinese thrust-vector-control airship to be certified, can carry 10 people, including crew, in a single capsule. With a maximum takeoff weight of 4,150 kg and a maximum flight range of 700 km, the AS700 can stay aloft for up to 10 hours.
Its developer, the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC), has orders for 18 units of the type and expects the AS700 to enter service commercially before the end of 2024.
The AS700 airship will first be used in the tourism market, although it is likely that other applications, such as search and rescue missions, will be developed at a later date.
Airships are also making a commercial aviation comeback in the West, where companies such as United States-based LTA, Britain’s Hybrid Air Vehicles (HAV) and France’s Flying Whales are all developing new generation airships for passenger and cargo transportation.

Yes, it's this project, but no FID yet.
B_B - Is this the Project in Australia which has been delayed because there is no funding ?
NO FID ?
Fortescue is yet to say where its electrolysers will be utilised first, but they are not due to be used at the company’s planned 550MW Gibson Island project in Brisbane, Queensland, despite the new factory being a little over 500km away.
The preferred electrolyser supplier for Gibson Island is Plug Power, which would supply its machines from New York state, about 18,500km away.
Billionaire Forrest’s Fortescue officially opens new 2GW PEM hydrogen electrolyser factory in Australia
Electrolysers were designed in-house after initial deal with Plug Power fell through

…..
In October 2023, when Fortescue announced Plug as the preferred supplier, a company spokesperson told Hydrogen Insight that the move was a reflection of an impending supply squeeze on electrolysers.
“Right now, there are not enough electrolysers in the world to support the amount of green hydrogen we are set to produce,” the spokesperson said at the time.
“That is why we are partnering with other world leaders in this space to secure our green energy supply chain, and we’re excited to secure capacity with Plug to help us achieve our goals.
“Fortescue has always said we are technologically agnostic and will always use the best solutions at the best price for shareholders for each of our projects.”

If the DOE loan is not confirmed yet, other good news would be pointless and the stock will fall back again (JB 🙃).
Plug needs sufficient working capital in the medium term, increase sales and reduce losses to demonstrate that the company has the potential to be profitable soon.
April

Of course Shell and Vattenfall will delay hydrogen projects, because hydrogen will power the energy independence.
It could bankrupt Shell and Vattenfall.

“Massive new industry:”Fortescue opens 2GW factory to build its own hydrogen electrolysers
Giles Parkinson Apr 8, 2024
Andrew Forrest’s iron ore and energy giant Fortescue Metals has officially opened its 2GW hydrogen electrolyser factory in Gladstone, Queensland, using in-house technology that it says heralds a massive new manufacturing industry for Australia.
…..
The company will produce Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolyser stacks that have been developed in-house by Fortescue teams in Australia and the US. Fortescue has also received approval to build a 50 MW green hydrogen production facility at the site.
There is no immediate word on the technology’s costs, an important consideration given the problems that have befallen other electrolyser makers, including one time partner Plug Power, whose share price has tumbled in recent months.
…..
Mark Hutchinson, the CEO of Fortescue Energy who is overseeing the investments in manufacturing, green energy, and hydrogen supply deals, says the opening of the huge facility establishes the company as one of the world’s leading Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM).
…..
“We will continue to research, manufacture, source and invest in new electrolyser technologies across the world to give us the best possible competitive position,” he said.

JMI - CORRECTION :
JMI - Just 3 days ago you posted ,
"Interesting quote from the Hydrogen Council, referenced by ReutersEvents in their Notice of the upcoming " Hydrogen Investment - Strategies for Success":
" While the Clean Hydrogen Project Pipeline has grown to $570 Billion, just 7 % of Hydrogen Projects have secured Final Investment Decision."
Just shows you what the pent-up Demand is, and how much $$ is sitting and waiting for the Decisions on 45v, etc, that we are seeing daily here with the stagnant, low-volume Sector trading.
Tick tock......
Thanks !
smile
JMI"
To which I responded :
JMI - Actually 7% is pretty low.
The historical industry average for funding and completion of major capital projects in the energy sector is closer to 10%.
Another troubling sign : Project Delays in Australia, The EU and North America
Is the hydrogen Novelty beginning to fade ?
I didn't say anything about the Hydrogen Council", Jack/Benny/Sven."
JMI
JMI - Thank you for confirming my original premise.
It looks like the novelty of Hydrogen is wearing thin.
As you pointed out recently : The Hydrogen Council reports that only 7% of major hydrogen projects reach FID, compared to 10% for Energy Projects overall.
"Jack/Benny/Sven" here is trying to jump to the wrong conclusion and call it fact, again.
A typical Lie that the Trolls on here engage in.
Read the piece yourself and you will see that it actually says that the reasons that Shell canceled the project are that it relied on tanker ships for liquid H2, and there would be an insuffuicient number of them in time for this project's completion, making it economically unviable.
But that here are alternatives for transporting H2, such as with ammonia or other liquid organic hydrogen carrers (LOHCs).
The title of the piece is:
" Exclusive: This Shell Backed Project to Ship Vast Volumes of Liquid Green Hydrogen From Portugal to the Netherlands has been Scrapped."
Also, there is no mention in the piece about H2 vehicles, and PLUG is not involved with H2 automobiles, so that added nugget is simply and out-of-left-field, bizzare statement by "Jack/Benny/Sven."
To try to make a sweeping statement that " The novelty of Hydrogen is wearing thin", is laughable, and typical of the disingenuous "Hair on fire !", bloviating overstatements these Trolls try to make on here all the time.
And remember, this "Jack/Benny/Sven" if just one of several Trolls on here who are Linde and Air Products Pumpers, who come here to Bash PLUG because PLUG is building Green Hydrogen Plants, and has a substantial lead in building them over Linde and Air Products. For example, Linde is building a Green Hydrogen Plant in the Western US, but it is only scheduled to be operational sometime in 2027.
Maybe............
Also, PLUG is currently a customer of Linde and Air Products, buying their gray Hydrogen for PLUG's customers. But once PLUG has it's LA Plant online, scheduled for Qtr 3 2024, PLUG will make sufficient Hydrogen itself with it's GA, TN and LA Plants to service it's own customers. And once PLUG's TX and NY PLants are built and online, sometime in late 2025 as currently scheduled, PLUG will be selling Hydrogen themselves i the Market, and will be a competitor to those companies.
Now you can see why "Jack/Benny/Sven" and other Trolls are here to Bash PLUG and Pump LIN and APD.
Just the Facts........
Thanks !
JMI
B_B - From Another Board :
"
A proposed 400MW green hydrogen project that was to ship liquid H2 from Portugal to the Netherlands called H2sines has been cancelled. The project lead partner, Shell, pulled out because the project was not economically viable for a variety of reasons.
Elsewhere in Scotland a electrolyzer project at the Gordonbush wind farm has been cancelled and earlier another project in the UK, Dogger Bank D also scrapped its hydrogen plans and will just feed the grid.
Yet another project, Vattenfall, in Scotland has also been cancelled.
B_B - Wow ! Anecdotal news.
Speaking of news ... Any PLUG news lately ?
Any mega deals?
Eeriely quiet.
The gas and oil companies are slowing down the adoption of hydrogen and fuel cell vehicles by disrupting the hydrogen supply and closing down the hydrogen filling stations. Only China is protected from these practices. Hydrogen/fuel cell companies are focusing on China, where the grass/hydrogen is greener.

Show me just one concrete reason to bet against this powerful Negative Trend ?
Show me just one concrete "BUY" signal.
Increasing overall DEBT with a government handout may NOT be a positive. Yes, PLUG will enjoy a little bump, because everyone is starved for news ... any news.
But for more than three years, every PLUG bump and rally has faded within days to new LOWS.
There is no way I am betting against that and ruin my batting average on/with PLUG.

GE 71 - Or even Maglev.
But bottom line, electricity and not hydrogen is their choice for zero carbon trains.
I think that instead of overhead charging cables, why not put the cable under the track. The trains could be equipped with a wireless charging system that could be installed under the train.
big oil worldwide made themselves the poster children for hydrogen...so while they are raking in many many billions of dollars in profit continuing to pump out dirty oil, they are trying to make themselves out to be saviors of the environment they helped pollute...
but even then, they will only do so if they can get the governments to send them welfare checks so they can make billions off of those hydrogen projects as well....and they have the nerve to state that if they dont get free money to do the right thing, then the world can continue to choke on the pollution they continue to make...
gee...wonder why hydrogen isnt going so well?...
big oil has taken the stance that the beatings will continue until morale improves...

Is the hydrogen Novelty beginning to fade ?
so many announced hydrogen projects that were hailed as the second coming of energy, are suddenly evaporating...
solar, nuclear, wind and battery applications are seeing improvements almost daily somewhere...they are finding huge deposits of hydrogen all over the world...
its no wonder why very expensive hydrogen production projects are losing their luster...
More Bad News :
Austrian Railway scraps hydrogen plans.
The Zillertal railway has scrapped its hydrogen plans after a independent study found that a electric approach using batteries, overhead lines, or a hybrid version would be much less expensive and lead to faster decarbonization. The Vienna University of Technology analysed 6 different drivetrains while the state of Tyrol has outlawed the use of overhead lines on the entire route. Batteries and partial overhead line use were found to be more cost effective than hydrogen.
Last year, Stadler, admitted that hydrogen will almost always be more expensive than battery trains due to the replacement costs of the stacks(3yr) and maintenance on the high pressure storage tanks. Those comments came after the first hydrogen railway in lower Saxony announced they would only buy battery trains due to the operating costs of their hydrogen trains.
The primary reason batteries cost less than hydrogen in Central Europe is that railways there are rarely less than 80km from a station with an overhead charging line, which can be used to charge the battery with 15,000 volts — 15 minutes of which is enough to power the train for a further 50-150km.
Poor Hydrogen Economics ! UH, OH.
