For every share or ebay you owned as of july 8th you receive one share of paypal. The price of paypals shares and ebays is determined by splitting the current market price of ebay so as it is i believe paypal becomes rougly 40 a share which place ebay down at about 25 a share pre split

On July 20, 2015, PayPal Holdings, Inc. (“PayPal”) (Nasdaq: PYPL) will celebrate its new status as an independent public company trading on the Nasdaq Stock Market under the ticker symbol “PYPL” in New York’s iconic Times Square. The company is inviting visitors to participate in this milestone by enjoying photo booths and food giveaways.

Guests will be able to have their photos taken and projected on the Nasdaq’s seven-story digital billboard in Times Square. In addition to streaming photos around Times Square, the images can be shared across social platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and more using #PYPL. NEW YORK, July 14, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- S&P Dow Jones Indices will make the following changes to the S&P 100, S&P 500, S&P MidCap 400 and S&P SmallCap 600 indices:

PayPal Holdings Inc. (PYPLV) will replace eBay Inc. (EBAY) in the S&P 100 and Noble Corporation plc (NE) in the S&P 500. Noble Corporation plc will replace HMS Holdings Corp. (HMSY) in the S&P MidCap 400, and HMS Holdings will replace Swift Energy Co. (SFY) in the S&P SmallCap 600. These actions will be effective after the close of trading on Friday, July 17. Ebay is spinning off PayPal to shareholders in a transaction expected to be completed on that date. Ebay will remain in the S&P 500 following completion of the transaction. Noble has a market cap that is more representative of the mid-cap market space. HMS Holdings and Swift Energy rank near or at the bottom of their respective indices.
