Dan Ives Is Bullish on the News
The news of the NATO contract was quickly picked up by Wedbush analyst Dan Ives, one of Palantir's most bullish analysts. At one point, he referred to the company as the “Lionel Messi of AI.”

In a research note to clients on Monday, Ives remarked that the deal “suggests that the firm (Palantir) continues to be viewed positively by Washington. In particular, PLTR’s prowess in AI continues to be appreciated by the U.S. government.”

Ives maintained his Overweight rating and $120 price target on PLTR stock.

Concerns About Losing Government Funding Are Fading
One headwind facing Palantir stock since the beginning of the year was the possibility that its revenue from the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) might be cut as part of the Department of Governmental Efficiency (DOGE) review. It was a fair concern since over 50% of the company’s revenue comes from its U.S. government contracts.

However, recent news from Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth suggests that the fears are unfounded.

The DOD is planning to make $5.1 billion in DOGE-related expenses. Hegseth remarked that much of the cutting will come from “ancillary things like consulting and other non-essential services.” Palantir’s services for the government are neither ancillary nor non-essential.

That doesn’t change the reasonable obstacle that exists regarding Palantir stock’s valuation. But if the bears are looking for a reason to sell, a decline in government revenue is not a safe bet.

Palantir Technologies Inc (NASDAQ:PLTR) stock is up 4.7% at $92.69 at last check, enjoying tailwinds after President Donald Trump's tariff update included exemptions for the semiconductor and tech industries. The equity just nabbed its best week since early February, and now sports a 308.5% year-over-year lead, with support from its 160-day moving average capturing last week's pullback.



It appears options traders took advantage of Palantir Technologies stock's dip. The security was among the popular names among options traders during the past 10 days, per Schaeffer's Senior Quantitative Analyst Rocky White's list of stocks that attracted the highest options volume within that period. PLTR saw more than 3.6 million calls and 3.7 million puts traded. Leading the charge was the weekly 4/25 60-strike put.



Options traders have been much more bearish than usual, though. This is per PLTR's 10-day put/call volume ratio of 1.18 over at the International Securities Exchange (ISE), Cboe Options Exchange (CBOE), and NASDAQ OMX PHLX (PHLX), which sits at the top of annual readings.

Options look like a good way to go when weighing on next moves, per the stock's Schaeffer's Volatility Scorecard (SVS) of 88 out of 100. This suggests shares outperformed options traders volatility expectations during the past 12 months.

Palantir (NASDAQ:PLTR) and the NATO Communications and Information Agency finalized the acquisition to deploy Palantir's Maven Smart System into NATO's Allied Command Operations, which will utilize artificial intelligence applications to bolster battle capabilities.

Palantir shares jumped 6% during pre-market trading on Monday.

"NCIA is pleased to team up with Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) and Palantir to deliver MSS NATO to the Warfighter, providing customized state-of-the-art AI capabilities to the Alliance, and empowering our forces with the tools required on the modern battlefield to operate effectively and decisively," said Ludwig Decamps, NCIA General Manager, in a statement.

NATO's Allied Command Operations are expected to deploy the new system within the next 30 days. NATO noted the procurement of Palantir's Maven Smart System only took six months from outlining the requirement to adoption of the system.

"ACO is at the forefront of adopting technologies that make NATO more agile, adaptable, and responsive to emerging threats," said General Markus Laubenthal, SHAPE Chief of Staff. "Innovation is core to our Warfighting ability. Maven Smart System NATO enables the Alliance to leverage complex data, accelerate decision-making, and by doing so, adds a true operational value."
