Been a while. 'sup?
ha! you email me, i'll email you. tit for tat. lol
Okay, turns out as I finally suspected, the two auto replies were doing a defcon 5. The party I 'd emailed was on vacation. They had around 50,000 emails from me when they got back.
OUCH!
Thanks! My biz requires an auto reply...
also.. I would suggest that if you have any control over your account at the internet level, you might try filtering from there. Some services do allow rudimentary, at best, control of that type.
AD.. an interesting article on auto-reply flooding by Fred Langa
http://www.informationweek.com/shared/printableArticleSrc.jhtml?articleID=14700320
This massive repeat of an incoming email is crazy! I thought I had it licked because I realized that it was two auto-reply messages bouncing back n forth like mad. So , I turned off my auto reply.
Hopefully that will do it. But so far, it's still racing like mad,,,incoming email at about 100 every 20 seconds.
Maybe it's pent up action that will subside soon. Has to be it.
pc, you aren't going to believe this. I 'm getting a massive repeat on my incoming.
I sent a note to a colleague who is on vacation. The auto reply is now sending me it's 'vacation' message , ad infinitum. I just deleted 4,200 and there's another 830 in just a few mintues.
I'm trying to find a fix on the ? help line , on outlook but don't see one. Guess I could try to block the incoming sender altogether, but that's only a bandaid.
Any ideas welcome.
pc, yes what a joy to have email working again;--)
glad it worked for you AD. J
New Sun that's a great idea, but my particular photos which are causing issues, are as compressed as they'll get. Opening in safe mode solved it.
thank you
PC,,, safe mode did it. THANK YOU Kindly/
PC jockey, thank you. That sure does address my exact question.
Very kind of you.
Thank you,Microsoft updates sound like a worthy effort. Much obliged.
thx jac, i tried moving it , it won't budge and I'm on cable.
Every time I try to move it or send it, it just says, no can do, already sending. hoping the techie that helps once ina while, can drop by this week. grrrrrrrrrrr
AD,
I agree with the previous poster, and I also wonder whether the email with the 2 attachments is still in the Outbox and if Outlook is attempting to send it each and every time you click Send/Receive. If so, you may want to try moving that message from your Outbox to some other folder (Drafts?) then try again to Send/Receive. If it works OK then, then maybe you're running up against a max-size-for-sending issue. Or, if you're using a dial-up connection, it just may be taking that long to send. If a max-size-for-sending issue, then that can probably be resolved in Outlook's settings (I use Outlook Express, so I'm not sure where Outlook does it, but there is an option to break apart messages larger than X (you choose) Kb in size. For OE, it is in Tools>Accounts>Properties>Advanced) The email program then breaks apart the message into mailable chunks, then the recipient's email client "reasssembles" it on the receiving end. Check Outlook's Help file for details.
Good luck.
AD - I posted your request on another board and so far have received this reply from duittuit. If I receive any more, I'll bring them over - or you might watch that board for a couple days also.
I use Outlook 2002, but these are things I would do to troubleshoot the problem.
Close Outlook and reboot the system.
If that doesn't fix it, any of the following may.
Send a test message to veriry the account is working properly. They can look in Tools/e-mail accounts/view or change e-mail accounts/change. The send test message button is there. Just do not change anything!!
Go to Microsoft Update Page, link from the Windows Update Page and be sure that all fixes and security updaes are installed. When you change to MS update, it will update all of your MS software that needs it, so if you have illegal copies of anything you may have a problem doing this.
Be sure that the file is not larger than your e-mail provider will let you send. Sometimes an issue.
Zip the attachment. Sometimes makes a huge difference.
I was having copy and paste issues with Word the other day, hanging and not pasting, kind of the same thing in reverse, went to the MS update and something fixed it. LOL

Is there an OUTLOOK 2003 knowledgeable techie out there?
My Email is 'stuck'.
I tried emailing 2 large photos and it wouldn't go. I was sending one per email with no prob. But now that this particular email, with 2 didn't go, I can't delete it, and worse, nothing else will send right now. Not even w/o photos.
Any ideas welcome.
TIA
Took a look micro.. will keep it in mind. I'm subscribed to too many boards already. lol. Thanks for mentioning it.
PCJ,
Have you been here yet?
http://www.atomicbobs.com/index.php?board=222
This is a wonderful, problem free board and site that we are looking for our folks' opinions as to move here or not in lieu of all the trouble at RB.
Take a quick visit, sign up, and say howdy!!
BR,
micro...
micro... if RB ever comes up, until its issues are resolved, you may want to create your post in Notepad, save it and then post it. That way if it doesn't show up, you still have the effort saved and can post it later.
Just a suggestion.
Looks like RB is down.
I cannot even get there.
NewSun, I have a post for you on Atomic Bob's full of links.
the best,
micro...
Hi Mark and NewSun,
I would email Tony and ask him about it. He has experience setting up the board on Yahoo already.
Man, I just posted a lengthy message to Nigel on RB and don;t you know it is not showing up? I am not going to attempt to re-type it because of the length and directions I gave.
I am starting to dislike RB more and more.
I vote we give Tony a shout and see what we can do.
the best,
micro...
Vgolf - I've taken the liberty
of doing some research on Yahoo - there are several computer advice boards - I took the liberty of sending an IM to the owner of this one: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/freecomputerdoctors/message/1
asking if they had any objections to being our back-up site as well as sent a link to our RB board so they could check us out before replying. If they say no - then I have no problem with opening up a board myself - I'm thinking maybe it should be public? Also - would you and Micro be willing to help administer it? I know you have that option over there cause Tony gave me moderator rights on the Folding board.
Just a thought as a possibility - I'm game for whatever the group wants.
Sun
new_sun,
thanks for the approval - as far as the 'other' folding board, it was the same one all along, I saved a 'favorite' that pointed to an old set of messages, not to the refreshed msg list....... Let me know what you think of my prev post, I too think it would be a good idea to have both these backups on the same site as many of us use both. Ayone know Truiz well enuf to see if he wants to start another up?
Micro,
thanks for the info - I remember reading about the limit, and also have a free trial I can activate as well, but have not done it yet as I dont use this very often. Would it be worth having Truiz fire up another board over there for a PC Advice backup? Or should one of us? If we get one going, I'll look into getting rid of this, and posting the links to BOTH yahoo backups on the RB boards. Let me know what you think!
Micro and Vgolf - I agree - I like this format,
but am not willing to pay what they're wanting.
Mark, you're approved and can post - I only know of one Folding board over on Yahoo - can you post a link to the second one?
Sun
Vgolf,
I'd let well enough alone for right now. Actually, I think a pc advice board over there would probably be a good thing. Here you are limited to 18 posts for free. There you are not limited.
I belong to other forums here as well so my 18 posts can get eaten up pretty quickly.
I do like this venue better than Yahoo but I am not willing to pay the asking price for the additional posting privileges.
The best,
micro...
micro,
I found it, I seee there are two different folding boards through yahoo - one has an invite option, the other does'nt. I wonder if it would be allright to create a folding board on investors hob, and have em both on the same site, or if it is better to leave well enough alone ?!?!
micro,
I don't see any way to get a post placed on that yahoo folding board, does that mean I have to be invited yet? I also do not see any choice for requesting aninvite, and idea what I do to 'get in' ??
V-golf,
RB is down. I keep getting the server error message.
I am a little concerned for Nigel's sake that he is alone and has no support team.
Couldn't you just hear his frustration?
Now, I grant you that he brings a lot of it on himself though with everything he downloads and then he has no protections set to keep the bad stuff off his computer.
Oh well,
I hope it all works out for him and the guys at the techsupport for HJTHIS will clean out the "sludge" from his computer.
Glad you started this alternate site.
I went over to the folding board at Yahoo to see if anyone was around then came here.
Got to go take the dog to get bathed and groomed. She smells!!
the best,
micro...
RB down? Is anyone else having trouble accessing the RB boards today?

pattydady0,
I'd be happy to look into it, but I honestly have no idea what or where that is, can you give me some more info please?
tia
Sorry for the delay, not in the habit of using this thread regularly.
Yes he is. eom
Hi vgolf, same vgolf from RB?
I figure you must be, thanks again for all the great help and advice over on PC Advice RB over the years!
jonesie
Hi Jaques, I'm using Windows Firewall. If I have active scripting disabled then when I click the "Submit Public Post" button after writing this post then nothing at all happens. The post isn't submitted. However, when I have active scripting disabled it does solve the problem with the scripting error. I have SBC DSL and SBC has their own browser which is based on Internet Explorer. I've found a work-around--If I open Internet Explorer and bypass my SBC browser then I don't have the problem. I appreciate your help, Thanks!
LowFloat...What happens if you have active scripting DIS-abled? Does that change anything? Just curious. BTW, what firewall are you using?
Thanks jacques. If I have active scripting enabled then I get the internet explorer script error everytime I click on a new post:
Object Expected
http://adserv.stocksite.com/ads/vc_728_ih.asp
If I disable active scripting then I can submit a post.
I entered the string in my firewall but nothing seems to work.
LowFloatGoat...
Do you have a firewall? If so, then add the strings "adserve" and "stocksite" into the strings that are blocked by your firewall. I've encountered the same thing in the past and my firewall (Outpost) now blocks them.
Also, FYI, I have active scripting disabled in the Internet Zone, but enabled in the Trusted Zone, allowing me full functionality for sites that I allowed into the TZ.
Finally, you can download and install this little utility from Microsoft. It is, allegedly, for IE 5.x, although I use it on my up-to-date IE 6.x machine (I probably had it in place when I had 5.x, and it remained effective after the upgrade to 6.x. Still, I would install it and give it a try). It adds a couple items to the right-click context menu when using IE: Add to Trusted Sites, Add to Restricted Sites. If you are visiting a site that you want to have the increased functionality of active scripting (and you trust the site), simply right-click and select Add to Trusted Sites. Now, refresh the page. When you're done, do the same and---this time---it will remove the site from the trusted sites and return it to the Internet Zone. It's a very handy function to have.
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/previous/webaccess/pwrtwks.mspx
Good luck.
I'm getting 'Internet Explorer Script Errors' on almost every page on I-hub. I think it's related to "active scripting" and the ads. The offending URL inlcudes the words: "http..adserve...stocksite.asp".
I disabled "Active Scripting" from Tools-Internet Options-Security and that solved the problem but then other web sites didn't work.
any ideas?
Vgolfmaster,,I think it would be good to put links to related sites in the info box..PADDY
Mark: Thanks, buddy. You're bookmarked! (btw: I'm jacques0 over here).

vgolf, thanks
