As I make it, Ricky Consummate Consumer 256, youse been on IHub for over a year and a half and this is your first Oracle post.
Looking for somebody to do some deep due diligence work for youse for nothin' or what?
Allow me to give youse all youse will ever need to know about Oracle:
When Laaarrry is IN (that connotes doing Oracle business), BUY Oracle; when Laarry is OUT (that covers America's Cup, buying Lanai, property accumulation in Malibu), SELL Oracle.
If youse keeps your eyes and ears open to Laarry's activities, youse will probably be RIGHT most of the time. All IMHO.
this stock has been pn the rise in the alst several years
SIA-Chart for ORCL : After a decent earnings report the chart below is very bullish: Besides having a superman show up, which happens when the stock goes 5% above its 100 day moving average. We also have a super cross show up which means that the 50 day moving average has broken above the 100 day moving average, which is also very bullish and means that buyers are coming in big time.
ORCL Oracle net rises, but sales weaker-than-expected

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) - Oracle Corp. (ORCL) on Thursday reported a fiscal first-quarter profit of $2.03 billion, or 41 cents a share, compared with a profit of $1.84 billion, or 36 cents a share, for the year-earlier period. Revenue was $8.18 billion, down from $8.37 billion. Adjusted profit was 53 cents a share. Analysts were expecting the company to report a profit of 53 cents a share, on revenue of $8.41 billion, according to a consensus survey by FactSet Research
Can Lanai HI be turned into a huge vinyard?
Is Laaarrry partial to French wine? Italian wine? Spanish wine?
Argentine wine? Chilean wine? Australian wine? South African wine? California wine?
Is Lanai suitable for commercial wine production? Pineapple, as you probably know, was once the stable agricultural crop of Lanai; the pineapples starters were "imported," probably from South America under cover of darkness. Pineapple cropping has virtually gone from Lanai; maybe Laaarrry will try importing the proper wine grapes and open a Lanai winery.
Of course, if all else fails, Lanai private lands might be available for surrepticious cultivation of the same noxious weed that is known when harvested as Maui GOLD. Who knows....
As an investor in Oracle, I get somewhat worried when Laaarrry goes off on another billionaire's adventure and leaves Marky Hurd and others to run Oracle. Now I don't begrudge Laaarrry having his second (or is it sixth?) childhood, but not at the expense of Oracle and its stalwart shareholders. All IMHO.
Laaarry bought 98% of the Island of Lanai from Castle & Cook who probably stole it from the Hawaiians in the first place.
When I lived in Paradise, Lanai was one huge Dole pineapple plantation. That agricultural crop went away to the competition elsewhere and Lanai has been one of those exclusive and very expensive vacation destinations for the VERY wealthy.
Just how big is Laaarry's ego, anyhow?
Beautiful yachting waters all around that island. And while life is very good at the very top, how about letting a few bux slide down the pyramid to the peonistic shareholders with a nice, bright stock price circa $36? All IMHO.
I wasn't expousing any position on Hurd, Lycus of Yore- I was delivering the news.
MG
And what can you inform us about Hurd's performance since joining his tennis buddy Laaaarry at Oracle?
Did he turn anything around and make the shareholders happy?
Was he able to use his rolodex and bring new clients to ORCL?
Yes, Miami Gent, pray tell us how smart the move was to bring Mark Hurd into Oracle.
Methinks Laaaarry is just loyal to old buddies and wanted to pick up Markie before he became a discard on the scrap heap of competitive American capitalism. All IMHO.
Interesting thought, Lycus- Hurd's, and anyone's personal stumble always sets everything back.
OK, Ok, ok.
Wake me when Oracle reaches the $40 share price threshold.
This remains an oversold, widely-held heritage stock. Dances to its own tune. Should have, could have, would have picked off HPQ at a bargain if Hurd wasn't still trying to build his credibility instead of being aggressive and capturing the best of HPQ hardware and ink lines to make ORCL move leagues ahead. All IMHO.

ORCL After-Hours Trading Range Analysis: ORCL
BY MidnightTrader 5:50 PM ET 06/18/2012
http://stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?s=ORCL
Oracle (ORCL) : Stock popped as high as 29 in the wake of the company's early release of its quarterly results. It saw support at 28.50 and above through the mid-session of night trade before sliding to levels between 27.82 and 28.42. A pre-bell open Tuesday may have potential surrounding the 28 mark. ORCL has seen an earnings-driven after-hours gain in 20 of the 33 quarters MidnightTrader has tracked. In 15 of those quarters, 75% of the time, the stock has added more aggressively to its gain in the following day's regular session. The strong historical performance on the upside bodes well for longs Tuesday, but we would still be cautious considering the surprise nature of the early release of numbers, as well as any potential news to come off the company's conference call later Monday night. Longs targeting entry points based on the ranges so far may want to look at the 27.50 to 27.90 area, levels that could form as a base support and perhaps see some strength back toward the lower- to mid-28s.

ORCL Oracle 4Q Net Up 7.5% On Improved Software Revenue
BY DJ Realtime News 5:34 PM ET 06/18/2012
http://stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?s=ORCL
Oracle Corp.'s (ORCL) fiscal fourth-quarter earnings rose 7.5% as software revenue improved, though services and hardware-systems revenue fell.
Oracle (ORCL) shares rose 3.1% to $27.96 after hours as adjusted earnings beat the company's expectations by a penny.
The company also said its board has authorized up to an additional $10 billion in share repurchases.
Strength in Oracle's (ORCL) traditional software business has led to improved earnings in recent periods, offsetting weak top-line results in the company's hardware segment. The technology giant has aggressively promoted its line of server equipment following its $7.4 billion acquisition of Sun Microsystems in 2010.
For the quarter ended May 31, Oracle (ORCL) reported earnings of $3.45 billion, or 69 cents a share, up from $3.21 billion, or 62 cents a share, a year earlier. Excluding items, per-share earnings rose to 82 cents from 75 cents.
The company's March forecast called for earnings between 76 cents and 81 cents a share.
Revenue rose 1.3% to $10.92 billion, or 5% in constant-currency terms.
Operating margin widened to 42% from 40%.
New license revenue, a key measure of software growth, increased 6.7%. Total software revenue rose 5.7%, while revenue at the much-smaller services segment edged down 3.7%. Hardware-systems revenue declined 14%.

But, Hanging 10 with Oracle, youse did NOT pay billions of bux for SUN. Laaarrry's got to protect his assets and his a$$. All IMHO.
I dont agree with Larry on this one. He does not have my backing and Will not mess my Hang Ten with ORCL. Still a solid company you have to admit.
I am hoping for a wipeout my father and I loaded up on ORCL today GOOG is going to get what they have coming.
While youse B touting, olde water-boarder in the ocean, how's about predicting the outcome of the Oracle vs. Google current court case?
Will it B Laaarrry riding the curl or will it B a simple wipeout?
ORCL is going to go up up up!!
Glad to know that at least one Ancient Mariner is confident about an American equity play.
Good luck with your antiquated investment strategy of BUY and Forgetaboutit. All IMHO.
I am very confident Ye Ole Mythology. A company like ORCL with a low PE and pps 5 year trending up its a no brainer.
ORCL is not a daytrade stock but a LT hold and buy below $30. The last earnings report prior to the recent was a great oppourtunity to buy.
Buy this stock on the dips and forgetaboutit!
Loves your confidence, grey-headed water-boarder.
But with both IBM and SEP playing in the same pool, Laaarrry and his marked-up hurd had better buckle in and get very competitive.
In this New Age of Investing, Buy-and-Hold strategies don't seem to work too well; have my doubts about buy-and-fuggetaboutit plays. All IMHO.
ORCL is a buy and forget about it stock at these levels.
$29.72 IMO going back up.
Where the hell is bottom ????
Not sure, and not warranted for the pps. I expect this stock to continue to rise. IMO
Why the sudden drop ?
More Gap Up Tomorrow!
Oracle 3Q Profit Climbs 18% On Growth From New Licenses
Oracle Corp.'s (ORCL) fiscal third-quarter profit rose 18% as new licenses from the technology giant's software business continued to offset weaker hardware revenue.
Shares rose 2.1% to $30.75 after hours on a stronger-than-expected core profit. Oracle's shares had climbed 17% so far this year through Tuesday's close.
Strength in Oracle's traditional software business has led to improved earnings over the past year, offsetting weak top-line results in the company's hardware segment. The technology giant has aggressively promoted its line of server equipment following its $7.4 billion acquisition of Sun Microsystems in 2010, though revenue from the hardware business has lagged other segments and continued to decline in the latest quarter.
Oracle, in its more recent acquisitions, have focused on makers of web-based software, otherwise known as the cloud. Those purchases include a $1.5 billion deal in October for RightNow Technologies Inc., a maker of customer-management software, and a $1.9 billion deal last month for Taleo Corp. (TLEO), a provider of human-resources software.
The recent buyouts reflect software developers' growing interest in products delivered as a service from a network of servers. So-called cloud-computing products let companies avoid many of the costs associated with installing and maintaining their own software.
The latest results faced a tough comparison against the 78% profit jump reported a year earlier, when the company's software revenue surged and hardware sales more than tripled.
For the quarter ended Feb. 29, Oracle posted a profit of $2.5 billion, or 49 cents a share, up from $2.12 billion, or 41 cents a share, a year earlier. Excluding stock-based compensation, acquisition costs and other effects, per-share earnings rose to 62 cents from 54 cents.
Revenue climbed 3.1% to $9.04 billion. In constant-currency terms, the top line grew about 4%.
Oracle's December forecast called for a per-share profit between 56 cents and 59 cents with 2% to 5% revenue growth.
Operating margin widened to 36.7% from 34.1%.
New license revenue, a key measure of software growth, increased 7.2%. Total software revenue rose 7.9%, while revenue at the much-smaller services segment edged down 0.4%. Hardware segment revenue declined 11%.

The sellers have arrived....
Gap filled. Excellent short opportunity here on daily chart in my opinion; very good risk/reward with the proper use of stop loss. Currently 28.55.

Going pretty well now, I hope that you added yourself some shares down there in the $25's, if not these $26's are going through now. Best of luck to in you in 2012.
Well shit, if they wouldn't settle it chances are we'll see some money at trial. Or a bunch of wasted legal fees.....
I'll hope for the money coming in, not out. God bless our legal system. Straight to the top ORCL!!
If I start losing money because of some assholes inability to reel in pussy with his checkbook, I will be thoroughly embarrassed. Seriously, she's a no talent wannabe actress. Look she even posed for Playboy.
http://blogs.houstonpress.com/hairballs/2010/08/jodie_fisher_hp_playboy.php
Come on Mark, what the fuck are you doing. Those titties didn't even look good in 1980. Certainly not deserving of wasting your time and money. Can't you be like all other executives and waste your money getting blow jobs in strip clubs while shoving blow up your nose? I know that's the only reason I dream of being an executive one day.....
The moral of this, is please ORCL, do not lose money when we reopen Tuesday.
Previous Chief Executive Officer of Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE:HPQ) and currently president of Oracle Corporation (NASDAQ:ORCL) Mark Hurd was compelled to share a letter specifying claims of sexual harassment made against him when he was CEO of Hewlett-Packard, after a Delaware court rejected his request to keep it sealed from community view.

Having the trotts, supporting the losing Old Miss football team, and owning ORCL makes for three (3) strikes!
Lots of us need a better 2012 to make up not just for 2011, but for a decade of stagnation in the equities.
May take clever stock-picking to make a dime next year. GLTA owning and trading Laaaaarrrry's , Ms. Katz', and Marky's empire. All IMHO.
I couldn't agree more-ORCL has nowhere to go but up within the next few months.
I got into it as a long term play around 25.00 because I really don't see Oracle going anywhere, and it's trading wicked low!
I am ready for the bounce here, I loaded up at $25 now is the time for it to go up. This time of the year, with folks dumping everything that has a loss, we may have to wait until January or February for the real money from Oracle. I am semi-patient sometimes! Best of luck to all of us here, and all our investments.
The NASDAQ Composite index slipped for the day, weighed by concerns regarding Oracle Corporation (NASDAQ:ORCL) earnings that effect the technology stock. Other indexes increases were also unsatisfactory because of worries about the effects of the European Central Bank’s newest lending program.

Picked up a call with a strike of 26. Go up up and away
Just got in on Oracle last night at 25.60, can't wait to see this hit above 27 by the end of today or tomorrow and hopefully 30 by the EOY. This is the first stock I've ever bought, so I'm hoping to stay in the green! Holla!
The NASDAQ Composite index finished the day lower, pondered by apprehensions regarding Oracle Corporation (NASDAQ:ORCL) earnings that punch the tech sector. Other benchmarks gains were also restricted by doubts regarding the effects of latest lending plan by European Central Banks.

Oracle Reports Bearish Earnings; Misses Street Estimates............On the documented basis on which Wall Street evaluates the firm, Oracle posted net income of $2.8bn, or 54 cents a share, in contrast with the 57 cents experts had predicted. Formed on official accounting rules, net income climbed by 17% to $2.2bn, or 43 cents a share.

Not a "doom sayer," Pumper Man.
Just a truth-teller.
No disclaimer here; I am a long, long, long stuck long; both my wife's Roth IRA and my Roth IRA are packed with ORCL.
Nothing that I want more for Chanukah, Xmas, Kwanzah, and the New Year 2012 than to see Oracle rebound and soar. The base is there, but lots of good things have to happen to catalyze an upward trend in this stock any time soon. But I do have a SELL target on the up side, will be holding in this slump. All IMHO.
Happy Holidays!
Sky is falling after the first bad qurter in long time. Cry me a river doom sayer!
Yeah i think their was overreaction... but whatever i will take advantage of the situation.
Attaway to go, pumpers! Build up the spirits and morale on this seldom-read obscure message board to push your dreams.
Face it:
Business is bad.
ORCL lacks a mobile capability.
They couldn't digest SUN, much less make it work and meld the two cultures.
Mark Hurd can't get it together at Oracle, yet.
Laaarrry is probably more concerned with Defending the America's Cup than enhancing shareholder value; somebody told me he was down $4BILLIONS at one point in today's trading and was unphased.
Guidance appears to be weak.
The Ellison Dream was always to successfully compete with IBM across the world and WIN. The Oracle blueprint needs some revisions, updates, and lots of hope. All IMHO.
