I believe that Congress being unwilling to honestly evaluate making cannabis a legal substance, will prevent Session's from prosecuting anyone in State's where it's legal by cutting off his funds to do so, and they'll do it later this month when the debt ceiling is once again raised. I really don't know whether the upcoming vote will be a meaningful one, or if they'll only put off the Govt. closure for a matter of weeks, as it will require action on the Dreamer's to significantly raise the ceiling, and their is also the matter of Trump's wall.
Personally I hate what's happened in Govt. where parties are putting Party way above Country, but that's it, and it's no better if you're a Democrat or Republican, both are putting Party line above Country needs. I am a Democrat, so I disagree with much that's happening, but I believe that Democrat's have as much gilt as Republican's in not doing what's right for the Country, or the World for that matter by implementing regulation that doesn't have consensus, and isn't therefore law, so it can so easily be turned around.
Here in California, in this morning's L.A. Times, it was clear that California will fight not only Session's on marijuana, they'll also fight to prevent new offshore drilling. While I believe that offshore drilling today would be safer than it was decades ago, hardly a year goes by when we don't have big problems on at least one offshore rig, and the result is often pollution on shore. I frankly don't believe that we need the oil at this time, so I'd rather keep it in the ground. If we work on improving efficiency, greater use of bio-fuels, solar and wind power, etc. we might never need to tap these resources.
