Danone Joins OTCQX as Market Capitalization Exceeds $1 Trillion
http://www.otcmarkets.com/news/otc-press-release?id=363
May 6, 2011 – NEW YORK – OTC Markets Group Inc. (OTCQX: OTCM), the company that operates the world's largest electronic marketplace for broker-dealers to trade unlisted stocks, announced today that Danone (OTCQX: DANOY) has joined OTCQX®, the highest tier of the U.S. OTC market. The addition of Danone marks a significant milestone, as OTCQX reaches 200 companies. With a combined market capitalization exceeding $1 Trillion, OTCQX offers investors exciting investment opportunities with companies ranging from smaller U.S. entrepreneurial businesses to global leaders.
“Danone is an elite organization that belongs on the premier tier of our marketplace, where companies provide the highest quality disclosure to U.S investors,” said R. Cromwell Coulson, President and Chief Executive Office of OTC Markets Group. “We are pleased to welcome Danone as our 200th OTCQX company.”
Danone, an international leader in the food and beverage sector, chose to trade its American Depositary Receipts (ADRs) on OTCQX International Premier to better serve their existing and potential U.S. investors by providing easier access to their financial disclosure and increased trading transparency.
Today, OTCQX stands 200 companies strong with a combined market capitalization over $1 Trillion. The OTCQX tier has grown from 108 to 200 companies over the previous 12 months, adding global powerhouses such as AXA, BNP Paribas, Deutsche Telekom AG, Repsol, and Zurich Financial Services Ltd., as well as 70 TSX-listed Canadian companies and a number of entrepreneurial U.S. companies. Equally impressive has been the growth of the OTCQX Designated Advisor for Disclosure/Principal American Liaison (“DAD/PAL”) advisor community. Today, OTCQX companies have access to a diverse pool of competing Investment Banks, DR Banks, and Attorneys to choose from to meet their unique advisory needs.
“We’d like to thank our first 200 OTCQX companies for sharing our vision of a superior platform for OTC companies to provide their investors with high quality information in an efficient manner,” stated Coulson. “OTCQX has become the most successful innovation for OTC companies since NASDAQ was founded 40 years ago. The rapid growth of OTCQX has proven the need for a transparent and trusted alternative to the traditional U.S. exchange model.”
OTCQX represents nearly 5 times the market cap of LSE AIM and the TSX Venture combined, demonstrating its position as a leading competitor in the global alternative marketplace space. In 2010, OTCQX was the leader among alternative or entry level markets, by average dollar volume per security. This indicates a compelling demand for quality companies that provide transparency to U.S. investors through financial disclosure.
On the threshhold of 200 quality companies listed...

Pink OTC Markets Announces Proposed Amendments to OTCQX Rules:
Proposed Changes Strengthen Listing Standards of the U.S. OTC Market’s Highest Tier
http://www.pinksheets.com/pink/about/news.jsp?id=166
Nov 2, 2009
Pink OTC Markets News Service
NEW YORK, November 2, 2009 - Pink OTC Markets Inc. is pleased to announce proposed amendments to the OTCQX Rules which strengthen the listing standards of the OTCQX marketplace. The amended rules modify the financial eligibility requirements for all OTCQX companies and will become effective on February 1, 2010.
The introduction of enhanced quantitative standards will benefit all OTCQX participants by further improving the overall quality of the marketplace. Investors prefer the quality-controlled listing process on OTCQX to easily identify OTC companies focused on valuation and transparency. The new OTCQX rules establish minimum financial eligibility standards that are easily understood and provide investors an objective measure to distinguish the best securities traded over-the-counter.
The OTCQX marketplace is the premier tier of the U.S. over-the-counter market. Leading international companies and compliance-driven U.S. companies use the platform to provide a better market for their shareholders than the OTCBB or Pink Sheets. There are 73 companies currently listed on OTCQX with a combined market capitalization of over $450 Billion.
Details of the proposed changes are available at the following links:

A Korean syndicate holds the remaining 30%. Baja is the project operator. The target date for commissioning Boleo is 2012. LCT is internationally recognised for its research and development of therapies in disease areas that typically have no cure or poor treatment options. Our most advanced therapy, DIABECELL® for Type 1 diabetes is in Phase IIa trials.
LCT is focused on building a successful cell-based therapeutics business and in 2007, established itself as the only xenoimplantation (animal to human implantation) company to have achieved clinical trial status under the current regulatory environment. LCT is now poised to take its products through the clinical trials process, and to market.
The company’s commercialisation strategy is to progress products through clinical trials, then offer the cell transplants to patients through marketing partners. LCT is well positioned to bring pig cell therapeutics to the market ahead of our competition and is committed to developing life-changing treatments while maximising shareholder value.
LCT is listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX:LCT) and the US-based OTCQX (OTCQX:LVCLY).
__________
Company History -
http://www.lctglobal.com/about-living-cell-technologies.php
Living Cell Technologies was established in New Zealand in 1987 by Professor Bob Elliott with the support of local entrepreneur, David Collinson. Mr Collinson served as the company's CEO and is now a non-executive director at LCT.
Mr Collinson’s son developed diabetes at the age of two. The family experienced first-hand the difficulties of daily management of the disease and the impact it had on the lifestyle of a young child.
Upon learning what was ahead for his son as he reached middle age – from the possibility of a shortened lifespan to kidney and heart disease, problematic eyesight, and even lower leg amputation – Mr Collinson visited the surgery of Professor Elliott.
When Mr Collinson heard Professor Elliott describe his research into a treatment that could restore quality of life to diabetics, and also reduce the severity of the secondary health issues of the disease, he committed himself, and his money, to the cause.

The innovative OTCQX platform offers companies and their shareholders a level of marketplace services formerly available only on a U.S. exchange.
Who Should List on OTCQX
Many U.S. companies list on OTCQX as the final step toward a NASDAQ or NYSE listing. Others enjoy the efficient compliance-driven model it offers their shareholders outside of a traditional exchange listing which may come with considerable cost savings. For companies moving off an exchange, OTCQX is the ideal home that provides most of the services they and their shareholders have come to expect on a listed market.
Why Investors Prefer OTCQX
Investors prefer the quality controlled listing process on OTCQX which identifies the segment of OTC-traded companies focused on valuation and transparency. Companies that list on OTCQX demonstrate their commitment to providing superior information to shareholders and maintaining the highest quality standards.
OTCQX is fully electronic and gives investors access through all major online and full-service brokerage firms in the U.S., including Schwab, E*TRADE, Scottrade, TD Ameritrade, and Fidelity. Trades are settled and cleared in the U.S. similar to any NASDAQ or NYSE security and trade reports are disseminated through Yahoo, Bloomberg, Reuters, and most other financial data providers.
In addition, Real-Time Level 2 Quote Display (full quote montage) is available free to the investing public.

Who Should List on OTCQX?
Reserved for international companies listed on a qualified stock exchange in their home country, OTCQX International provides easy access to U.S. investors and the ability for a company to diversify their shareholder base. OTCQX companies require a Level I Sponsored ADR program in the U.S. or a foreign ordinary that is DTC eligible (such as Canadian companies). This requirement helps ensure that only the best companies, which have already been pre-screened by a qualified foreign stock exchange's listing process, are eligible.
All OTCQX International companies appoint a qualified, third-party Principal American Liaison (PAL) sponsor to help them with the listing process, post disclosures in English, and be available as a trusted resource regarding all aspects of U.S. market protocols and investor information needs.

Each advisor must submit a DAD/PAL Application to qualify as a DAD or PAL. The application must be submitted in conjunction with an issuer's application for OTCQX. Upon admission to the OTCQX, the advisor's name will be included on Pink OTC Markets' List of Designated Advisors. The OTCQX marketplace is the premier tier of the U.S. over-the-counter market. Investor-focused companies use the quality controlled OTCQX listing platform to offer investors transparent trading, superior information, and easy access through their regulated U.S. broker-dealers.
The OTCQB market tier helps investors easily identify companies that are current in their reporting obligations with the SEC or report to a U.S. banking or insurance regulator. OTCQB securities are quoted on OTC Markets Group's quotation and trading system and some may also be quoted on FINRA's BB. See OTCQB Fact Sheet
This security is one of approximately 30 OTC securities that are quoted solely on FINRA's BB quotation system so market makers must use the telephone to make any trades.
Companies that follow the International Reporting Standard or the Alternative Reporting Standard by making filings publicly available through the OTC Disclosure & News Service pursuant to OTC Markets Group Guidelines for Providing Adequate Current Information (pdf) are designated as OTC Pink Current Information. The Current Information category is based on the level of disclosure and is not a designation of quality or investment risk. This category includes shell or development stage companies with little or no operations as well as companies without audited financials and as such should be considered extremely speculative by investors
Designed for companies with financial reporting problems, economic distress, or in bankruptcy to make the limited information they have publicly available. The Limited Information category also includes companies that may not be troubled, but are unwilling to meet OTC Markets' Guidelines for Providing Adequate Current Information. Companies in this category have limited financial information not older than six months available on the OTC Disclosure & News Service or have made a filing on the SEC's EDGAR system in the previous six months.
Indicates companies that are not able or willing to provide disclosure to the public markets - either to a regulator, an exchange or OTC Markets Group. Companies in this category do not make Current Information available via OTC Markets Group's News Service, or if they do, the available information is older than six months. This category includes defunct companies that have ceased operations as well as 'dark' companies with questionable management and market disclosure practices. Publicly traded companies that are not willing to provide information to investors should be treated with suspicion and their securities should be considered highly risky.
There are no market makers in this security. It is not listed, traded or quoted on any U.S. stock exchange or the OTC Markets. Trades in grey market stocks are reported by broker-dealers to their Self Regulatory Organization (SRO) and the SRO distributes the trade data to market data vendors and financial websites so investors can track price and volume. Since grey market securities are not traded or quoted on an exchange or interdealer quotation system, investor's bids and offers are not collected in a central spot so market transparency is diminished and Best Execution of orders is difficult.
Buyer Beware. There is a public interest concern associated with the company, which may include a spam campaign, questionable stock promotion, known investigation of fraudulent activity committed by the company or insiders, regulatory suspensions, or disruptive corporate actions. During the time it is labeled Caveat Emptor, any stock that is not in the Current Information category will also have its quotes blocked on otcmarkets.com. |
