A quick scan of IHUB shows me that as a 'mistaken promoter' of NXPI or any of a couple thousand other stocks, Cramer is hardly alone in being deceptive or wrong most of the time . He may not own all his failures but at least he doesn't continue to promote them under a new name after he makes his mistake...
SBB
In all fairness Cramer is a windbag. He trumpets his triumphs and does not mention his utter failures.
I'd love to hear him say "mea culpa" and then list them all.
Trueheart
In all fairness, the market as a whole corrected a couple times since his recommendation as markets are prone to do. Blaming every stock decline on Cramer when it falls is about as fair as Obama's critics blaming him for everything in the world that has gone wrong in the last few hundred years. First, Cramer is not a promoter of NXPI as a trade, he is a long term holder in which case an occasional pullback is irrelevant as anything but another buying opportunity. Secondly, whether you use the metrics of earnings, forward P/E or M&A valuations in the industry, NXPI is dirt cheap even at $103...which makes it a screaming bargain long term at $84. Third, if you were taking that recommendation on NXP as a trade (and he initially made it in the low to mid 90s as I recall, not $103), then it should probably have been sold on any 10-11% quick gain anyway.
SBB
Your comment about Cramer is interesting.
He did recommend it some time ago, when it was about $103, saying that he didn't like auto companies but a play that was car related would work. He named NXPI. The share price plummeted shortly after and the coward has yet to own it.
Trueheart
Not this time EC. Even the bald squirrel finds an acorn in his wig once in awhile.
The combination of debt pay down from sale of the low tech cyclical chip business and their smart car platforms (along with one of the most brilliant and astute management teams and BODs I've ever researched) makes Jimmy C right this time. By any metric of semis NXPI is worth $130 a share as it sits here. Once grandma is letting the Buick drive her to the market (I estimate as early as 2019-20), NXPI is going to explode into the next AAPL. I've been a holder of the common stock since $35 accumulating on pullbacks and I'll be holding it in another 15 years when it's that price again....after five or six 3/1 stock splits.
SBB
If Cramer recommended it, then it is for sure time to sell it.
The last two weeks have been brutal, dropping 8 points.
Trueheart
I should shed this stock and take my loss. NXPI is the leader in the field of auto electronics and function integration.
It was going up until Cramer mentioned it as a buy in lieu of investing in auto manufacturers. The market may be punishing him for the call.
Trueheart
The Cramer Effect may be in play in the market.
Last night he recommended the stock as an alternative to buying high tech cars. Buy the electronics. He owns it.
Trueheart
I think you are correct. Small stocks have been getting hurt for months. Then the big ones get hit, the averages finally take a fall. I do not know very much about this company, and saw it bounce from the level it just went through, twice.

My impression is that stocks in general are in a bear market, and the tide is taking good companies such as NXPI out to sea.
Techs are taking the brunt of the surge.
Trueheart
The new low comes on increased volume an no news also. Is this just with the market?
picked up some calls when it spiked through support at 72.05, and recovered. Looking for a bounce back toward 80.
NXP "Smarter World Tour" Begins Its European Journey, and stock falls to 76 on increased volume?
Nice action here today. profiting.
Case study: NXP Semiconductor
The Fool actually recommended NXP Semiconductor (NASDAQ:NXPI) many years ago, but it was a bit premature. Only recently has the NFC-powered mobile payments thesis begun to play out. But now that NFC-powered mobile payments are starting to see some adoption, they're here to stay (thanks in large part to Apple).
The irony here is that NXP received perhaps the most attention for its leadership position in NFC chips, but NFC chips are actually a modest part of the overall business. NXP is a diverse semiconductor company with a wide range of products; no single operating segment accounts for more than 21% of sales.
NXP is notable because it is one of the few Apple suppliers that has outperformed the Mac maker over the past five years. Perhaps more importantly, this outperformance has almost nothing to do with Apple, since Apple only recently adopted NFC and became a meaningful customer.

NXP Announces Final Regulatory Approval and Closing Date for Merger With Freescale
NXP Climbed through the 50% retracement, now we know why.
1 Major Growth Opportunity for NXP Semiconductors
While the semiconductor maker is highly diversified, mobile payments represent a significant growth opportunity.
http://www.fool.com/investing/general/2015/11/17/1-major-growth-opportunity-for-nxp-semiconductors.aspx?source=eptadnlnk0000002&utm_source=advfn&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=investorshub
The chart retraced 50% and it is going lower. Where is a bottom?
50% retracement is normal on a sharp decline. NXPI after it does that, may continue down.
There is the merger, with Freescale Semiconductor Ltd, going on also. Too risky for me to deal with here.
Yeah, I thought so too. But it's going up.
It looks like this could fall more:
"For the next period, NXP set the bar very low. Sales are expected to fall in each of the company's six reportable divisions, typically at double-digit percentage speeds. Overall, total revenues are seen falling something like 15% sequentially. To put that forecast into a seasonal perspective, NXP issued flat sequential sales guidance from the third quarter of 2014 to the fourth. In the final tally, sales actually rose 1.5%.
In other words, this forecast is distressing and investors acted accordingly."

I saw on CNBC NXP is going to open 15% lower.
NXP posts mixed results, issues soft guidance
Oct 28 2015, 22:57 ET | About: NXP Semiconductors (NXPI) | By: Eric Jhonsa, SA News Editor
NXP Semiconductors (NASDAQ:NXPI): Q3 EPS of $1.57 beats by $0.02.
Revenue of $1.52B (flat Y/Y) misses by $30M.
Expects Q4 revenue to be down by a low-to-upper teens % Q/Q. Implies revenue will be below a $1.58B consensus.
Management's commentary: "As we entered the third quarter, we noted a weakening of demand as our customers began to communicate concerns with an uncertain economic environment. As the third quarter progressed, our end-customers, across multiple end-markets continued to voice an increased and significant degree of uncertainty around any increase in demand. This has resulted in lower than planned sell-through and an increase of channel inventory. As a result, our guidance for the fourth quarter reflects a much more cautious view of near term sales which may occur during the quarter."
Shares finished after hours trading up 1%. NXP reported earnings shortly following the end of after hours trading.
It is at a high price! Yes I think that Motley Fool article does confirm that fact. I confirm. Best wishes!!
That is what I determined by searching. I did not subscribe to MF for confirmation. I was hoping you could confirm that. At such a high price, I could not buy many shares.
Supplies chips for NFC nice!! Thanks much!! Sounds promising!! : )
This is the company that supplies chips for Touchless Near Field Communications, NFC.
From David Gardner Motley Fool;
MOTLEY FOOL RULE BREAKERS
A simple summary of Rule Breakers's recommendation.
Buy NXP Semiconductors (NXPI)
NXP has a finger in many of the exciting technologies unfolding right now, from wearables to driverless vehicles to secure mobile payments. It was in turnaround mode when we recommended it four years ago, but that's changed under top-notch management. The Freescale merger would have been impossible with NXP's debt position back then, but now it is getting a great, complementary business that will give it more scale to dominate specific niches, particularly around automotive and secure payments. I'm eager to see what NXP will do in the next four years, and I think you should be too. (as of 8/19/15)

NXPI now recommended highly by Motley Fool investor service. Did anyone else see that?
At the low of the day the share price was down an astonishing 31%.
The bear is growling!
Trueheart
The stock price has been pathetic since the $114 high.
Trueheart
I know..accumulate makes more sense
NXPI simply makes no sense to hold. This is a trading stock.
Trueheart
crazy buy at the end... chart pattern looks weird.. not sure how this will play out.
I think NXPI will release good earnings but the flailing market may dismiss them as the fall in semiconductors continues.
Trueheart
Everyone think this is a solid buy ahead of earnings or should I wait?
Wish I had caught those sub $86s. Investors seem to have forgotten that NXPI is more, much more, than an Apple supplier.
It's coming back.
Trueheart
NXPI after market at $87.75, down 5.03%.
Coming off Apple's lukewarm results.
Trueheart
Sir, if you would.
Trueheart
Yes sir/ma'am you as well
Roger that, MK.
I'm still holding but with a jaundiced eye on where we're going.
Best to ya.
Trueheart
Solid foundation here...SWKS dipped twice to about 92.50 and 93 in about a month span from 110.00 good company we have here (if your still holding) I think it'll climb back up for you to at least break even
Agree to disagree True
I disagree with you, MK.
This is NXPI's second dip into the low $90's in a bit over a month. I think that last time it was in the high $80s.
Trueheart
It'll run back up I took a hit in SWKS it did the same thing but like I said seemed the whole chip sector got slammed recently
I'm getting killed in NXPI at the moment. I gave up a good profit on the recent run up. Should have taken advantage of it.
Trueheart
now is the time to buy seems like all the chips had a bad week last week
