I thought NM's price held up quite well today. It outperformed the major indexes which were WAY down. It is also near a 52 week high and holding, with a huge apx 12% dividend!

Nice. Thanks for the post. I had not heard that news. I added to my shares early October when it was down some. Glad to see one of my BDI shipping stocks holding up. I was concerned the dividend might drop, I guess that concern is off the table now. Kinda raises the ante for the other BDI stocks! Nice that they announced it pre-earnings!

Tempts me to sell my other junk and just buy more NMM stock.

I buy on the dips. I wish I knew about NMM in OCT. Three something a share still paying ~$1.60y divy! Damn. I found this CEO in FEB09.

The sister NM, well I have a position there also.

There is another sister company although from my DD it is not public or not traded on US exchange.

China has used it's currency to buy mines and raw material around the world, dry shippers will deliver it to their homeland.

While NMM has not been a very exciting stock lately ( a good thing for long term investors in a volatile scarry market) it has made a nice strong move up today, to a new recent high, and has held its value better than most (if not all) other dry bulk shippers of late. Great dividend here, almost unheard of yield, up around 12%, and seems to be here to stay. I bought more about 10 days ago, still long and adding. Also BDI is on the rise again boosting dry bulk shipper stocks. The high dividend seems to be related to the LP structure with NM as the general partner, and it seems to be set up to pay out most of earnings as dividends. IIRC NM owns over 50% as the GP, so most of those earnings go to NM.

PIRAEUS, GREECE--(Marketwire - July 27, 2009) - Navios Maritime Partners L.P. ("Navios Partners") (NYSE: NMM), an owner and operator of Capesize and Panamax vessels, announced today that its Board of Directors has declared a cash distribution of $0.40 per unit for the second quarter ended June 30, 2009. This payment represents $1.60 per unit on an annualized basis. The cash distribution is payable on August 11, 2009 to all unitholders of record as of August 6, 2009.

With the long term contracts and newer fleet I'm hoping for $.35+

NM paid their usual $.06 dividend.
