Mydecine Selects Substance Use Disorder and Smoking Cessation for Novel Psychedelic Molecule MYCO-004
Post published:June 24, 2021
Post category:Press Release
DENVER, June 24, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Mydecine Innovations Group (NEO: MYCO) (OTC: MYCOF) (FSE: 0NFA) (“Mydecine” or the “Company’), an emerging biopharma and life sciences company committed to the research, development, and acceptance of alternative nature-sourced medicine for mainstream use, today announced that it has selected substance use disorder and smoking cessation as the initial target indications for its proprietary psychedelic molecule MYCO-004.
MYCO-004 is a patch-delivered tryptamine compound. Its properties include short duration (~2hours), transdermal, precision dosing and long-term compound stability.
Mydecine has selected the substance use disorder and smoking cessation for MYCO-0004 as it addresses the underserved and drastic need for treatment. There are approximately 19.7 million adults in America suffering from substance abuse disorder. Of those 8.5 million suffer from both substance abuse disorder and mental health disorders. The costs to society through lost productivity, health care costs and crime are more than $740 billion in America alone. Specific to nicotine addiction, there is a current lack of efficiency and safety in the current nicotine treatments. Tobacco, and its active ingredient nicotine, is one of the most highly addictive substances in the world, and one of the deadliest.
Currently in America there is a disadvantaged market of patients as approximately 31.4 million Americans smoke cigarettes and have untreated addictions to nicotine. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention, cigarette smoking is responsible for one out of every five deaths in the United States, roughly 480,000 people every year. Additionally, the current inadequate medications already garner significant market share as the market for treating the addiction was valued at $6 billion in 2019 is projected to reach $13.6 billion in 2026.
This initiation follows on the heels of MYCO-001 in treating smoking cessation. MYCO-001 is pure psilocybin from natural fungal sources, is in planning for late stage clinical trials, ensuring the quickest time course to regulatory approval. MYCO-001 analogous molecules have shown significantly higher efficacy rates in treating smoking cessation in well known studies conducted by Johns Hopkins University while also showing significantly better safety profiles.
“We have taken a methodical and iterative staged approach in our drug development pipeline developing first and second-generation treatments to address some of society’s largest unmet needs. MYCO001 is our first iteration of a generation one drug for both smoking cessation and PTSD, which is currently in a late-stage clinical trial and we believe will be one of the first psychedelic treatments to receive approvals from the FDA. Generation one analogous MYCO001 pure psilocybin, in which MYCO-004 was base templated from, has shown efficacy rates as high as 85% in a study conducted out of Johns Hopkins University. MYCO-004 represents a second-generation improvement to replace the first generation of drugs with improved half life control, uptake time, scalability and stability,” said Mydecine CEO Josh Bartch.
“MYCO – 004 represents our leading approach to stepwise modifications of already potent molecules, like psilocybin, in order to improve safety and efficacy in clinical practice. The company has several patent pending protections around numerous stackable features which result in our MYCO004 product,” said Rob Roscow, Chief Scientific Officer, Mydecine.
One of the most common treatments to improve Nicotine Addiction is Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT). NRT is used to help patients get through the early stages of nicotine withdrawal, as well as provide long term relief to those suffering from extreme addiction. NRTs stimulate the brain receptors targeted by nicotine to relieve symptoms. Despite wide use, a study by the Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine in Switzerland found that NRTs only have a 7% success rate.
Although research is limited on the matter, preliminary data from both short-term and long-term studies conducted by John Hopkins University on the use of Psilocybin to treat Nicotine addiction show participants with significantly higher rates of success than those who use traditional methods to quit smoking. By the 16+ month mark, 60% of the participants had successfully quit smoking.

DENVER, June 16, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Mydecine Innovations Group (NEO: MYCO) (OTC: MYCOF) (FSE: 0NFA) (“Mydecine” or the “Company”), an emerging biopharma and life sciences company committed to the research, development, and acceptance of alternative nature-sourced medicine for mainstream use, announced the launch of its in-silico drug discovery program in conjunction with researchers at the University of Alberta.
Led by top computer-aided drug development expert, Dr. Khaled Barakat, the program is focused on developing artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) supported drug screenings, including both the ability to build drugs from the receptor up and assess drugs around the receptors of Mydecine’s choosing. With its broader R&D capacity in drug development up and running, the in-silico program will enable the Company to more rapidly screen hundreds of thousands of new molecules without the need to produce them, allowing Mydecine to focus on the strongest potential therapeutics for its chemical and natural development programs. Mydecine will also be able to more efficiently screen its proprietary library of novel compounds designed by Chief Science Officer Rob Roscow and Advisory Board member, Dr. Denton Hoyer.
“Years of research have shown that the chemical components of psychoactive and non-psychoactive mushrooms can be extremely powerful in a therapeutic setting and yet, there is still so much that we don’t understand about how these molecules can affect biological systems. As the next evolution of drug discovery progresses forward, we strongly believe that this new age will be fully led by artificial intelligence and machine learning,” said Josh Bartch, CEO of Mydecine. “Expanding our R&D efforts with the addition of our cutting-edge AI/ML drug screening program will allow our research teams to take a leading role within the psychedelic community to more efficiently expand our knowledge of these components and their pharmacological value.”
Dr. Barakat, who completed his postdoctoral fellowship under 2020 Nobel Laureate Michael Houghton and is a member of the Li Ka Shing Institute of Virology, has spent his career focused on applying state-of-the-art computational drug discovery tools to discover new antiviral and immune checkpoints in small molecule drugs. Serving as an Assistant Professor of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Alberta, Dr. Barakat and his team specialize in understanding the nature and biophysical processes underlying protein-drug interaction, protein-protein interactions, protein-DNA interactions, drug off-target interactions and predicting drug-mediated toxicity.
“Dr. Barakat and his team have built an impressive reputation as leaders at the intersection of technology and pharmacological science. Adding their specialization in developing innovative computer models and novel technologies to predict protein-protein and protein-drug interactions will bring tremendous value to Mydecine’s research and enable us to more quickly bring to market effective drugs that can produce better outcomes for patients,” added Bartch.

Mydecine Discovers Over 40 Groundbreaking Potential Pharmacologically Active Novel Compounds in Mushrooms
Post published:June 8, 2021
Post category:Press Release
DENVER, June 08, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Mydecine Innovations Group (NEO: MYCO) (OTC: MYCOF) (FSE: 0NFA) (“Mydecine” or the “Company’), an emerging biopharma and life sciences company committed to the research, development, and acceptance of alternative nature-sourced medicine for mainstream use, announces that the Mydecine R&D team has made groundbreaking advances in psilocybin research with the discovery of over 40 compounds with pharmacological potential in mushrooms.
Over the past months, Mydecine’s research and development teams have screened over 25 mushroom species, including various varieties of p. cubensis, and has selected and analyzed over 40 unique compounds found throughout the various species. Of these compounds, a large majority appear to have never been reported before and could be vital to the critical effects of naturally-sourced mushrooms on human health and wellbeing as well as synergistic effects with pure psilocybin.
“Most mushrooms, especially the noxious species, have not been investigated for their chemical components,” says Senior Scientist, Duff Sloley. “Most of these compounds are evolved to protect the mushroom’s fruiting body from predation by insects, nematodes and bacteria and are complex and metabolically expensive to produce. Since these compounds are evolved to affect biological systems and aspects of metabolic pathways, they stand a higher chance of proving to be useful pharmaceuticals,” he continued. “As a consequence, studies of the structural, chemical, and possibly fortuitous pharmacological properties of these unknown compounds may lead to the development of beneficial pharmacological treatments for a number of disease states.”
Dr. Sloley holds a PhD in Biology from the University of Waterloo and has over 35 years of experience in analytical research and product development including positions at the University of Saskatchewan’s Neuropsychiatric Research Unit, Novokin Biotech, Sinoveda, and Radient Technologies. Dr. Sloley’s specialties include comparative neurobiology with a focus on neurotransmitter identification, metabolism and disruption as well as botanical composition. Dr. Sloley has extensive experience working in analytical biochemistry in a GLP setting including HPLC, LCMS/MS, UV absorbance and fluorescent detection. Additionally, Dr. Sloley is an active member of the Alberta Mycological Society and will be instrumental in characterizing and discovering new potent compounds as well as working with Society to source novel fungi.
“We have seen accelerated progress through Mydecine’s fully integrated research and cultivation facilities,” stated Josh Bartch, CEO of Mydecine. “These tremendous advances in our treatment development could not have been possible without our state-of-the-art R&D center and world-class research team. We not only have the ability to discover new compounds, but test them for efficacy, manufacture them for clinical research through a scientific rigor. This end-to-end capability is a critical to successful drug development and sets Mydecine apart.”

1000% agree re helping Veterans. I am also big in MindMed (and have investments in some others, including a large one in Revive). Like all biotech / LS / pharma companies, am confident they will raise funds along the way 'the right way'. GL.
I’m a fan of anything or anybody trying to help veterans with PTSD. I’ve got all my money split between MindMed, Numi and Mydefine but their cash on hand is making me nervous
Normal course I would say. You a fan or not?
Don’t they only have enough money for another quarter? They will have to raise money and dilute the shares
IMO Mydecine is a screaming buy - so under the radar but check out the investor section of their website for starters to see just how much they have going on, and how much talent is driving their mission internationally.

MYCO – 004 is a patch delivered tryptamine compound. Properties include short duration (~2hours), transdermal, precision dosing and long-term compound stability. The target use is mid-to-late-stage clinical trials, taking advantage of current publicly-available data.
These drug candidates were developed with the research team at Mydecine, led by Chief Science Officer and Co-Founder of Mydecine, Rob Roscow, along with collaboration from Dr. Denton Hoyer, drug-discovery expert and Mydecine Scientific Advisory Board Member. Mydecine believes that these drug candidates are unique and patentable in the United States and Canada and has received advice from counsel confirming such belief.
“In addition to Mydecine’s natural product portfolio, we believe these natural compounds also provide excellent starting points for new compounds which further meet the demands of the clinic and have improved safety, efficacy and formulation properties. Our research focus on molecular design achieves these goals,” said Dr. Hoyer.
“These candidates add layers of safety and dose-ability for the use of psychedelic compounds in medical research and eventually medical practice,” said Mr. Roscow. “We are essentially taking the value that is currently present in natural molecules, such as the psilocybin molecule in MYCO-001, and adding in patentable safety features. We want to create attractive features for the research community by providing compounds that can enhance therapy, reduce anxiety, and maximize delivery mechanisms.”

100%. Buying and holding as many as I deem makes sense. Promising future without doubt. x10 bagger easily IMHO.
Still holding all my shares here. Markets in general have been very choppy lately. Regardless of whether this trades at .30 or .40 area, I'm holding here for dollars down the road. If their Phase 2 trials for PTSD go well and bear fruit, that's a huge opportunity given how many people suffer from it.
That would be nice!
SLEEPING GIANT. Load up and lock it in a cage. 10x short term from here, 100x down the road a bit.
Another strong green climb today. Very upbeat about the room this stock has to run. Adding more as funds become available.

Company Appoints Former Novartis Norway CEO as President of European Operations, and Partners with Dr. David Erritzoe in the set up of a novel collaborative psychopharmacology/psychedelic research clinic between Imperial College London and a major mental health NHS Trust in London.
DENVER, March 16, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Mydecine Innovations Group (CSE: MYCO) (OTC: MYCOF) (FSE: 0NFA) (“Mydecine” or the “Company’), an emerging biopharma and life sciences company committed to the research, development, and acceptance of alternative nature-sourced therapeutic medicine for mainstream use, announced that it has appointed Michel Rudolphie, former CEO and President of Make-A-Wish International and former Novartis Norway CEO, as President of the Company’s European Operations. In addition to adding new leadership, the Company also announces that it has partnered with Principal Investigator Dr. David Erritzoe at Imperial College London (ICL) to conduct leading research in the expanding field of psychedelics, as well as the creation of a novel collaborative psychopharmacology/psychedelic research clinic between ICL and a major mental health NHS Trust in London.
In an effort to further develop the Company’s international footprint and expand upon its existing clinical research efforts, Michel has been appointed to develop and lead Mydecine’s strategy, business development and comprehensive success across Europe. In addition, he will oversee Mydecine’s European clinical research initiatives and partnerships including its current Phase 2a clinical trials of psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy to treat chronic PTSD in veterans and EMS personnel at Leiden University Medical Centre in the Netherlands.
Michel, a Dutch citizen with a MSc and MBA in Healthcare Management and Policy from Erasmus University in Rotterdam, has an impressive career record in the healthcare industry, with a succession of leadership positions at Novartis for 14 years, including four years serving as CEO of Novartis Norway.
“We have significant plans in 2021 to capitalize on the international renaissance for psychedelics-based therapies amongst the medical community and researchers. European universities and other research organizations, particularly those in the U.K. and Netherlands, have shown great enthusiasm and determination to better understand the science of how these drugs work and how they can be utilized to help people suffering from PTSD,” said Josh Bartch, CEO of Mydecine. “In our conversations with Michel, it quickly became clear that his extensive experience in the international pharmaceutical space coupled with his knowledge of developing and executing partnerships with both non-profit and for-profit organizations would be a great asset to our growth. His impressive personal qualifications and as importantly, his demonstrated passion and commitment to advocating for enhanced PTSD treatment for uninformed individuals, perfectly aligns with the vision and mission of Mydecine and we are thrilled to add him to our senior management team.”
In 2018, Michel joined Make-A-Wish International as CEO and President and was responsible for moving the international headquarters from Phoenix, Arizona to the Netherlands, in addition to assembling a new team and developing the foundation’s internal and external strategy. Prior to joining Make-A-Wish, he served as the CEO and President of the Dutch Cancer Society, the largest health charity in the Netherlands. He has also previously served in a number of senior management roles within the healthcare industry including as CEO of Bioness and Vice President of European Operations for Nucletron, a global medical device company specializing in innovative products used for cancer treatment.
“Throughout my career, I have leveraged my experiences in the healthcare sector to advance both start up and mature companies through their various stages of development,” said Michel. “I’m very excited to join the Mydecine team, which has outstanding expertise in new approaches to innovative solutions for treating mental health and enhancing vitality. Having built a culture of scientific excellence, and building a global network among leading research collaborators, Mydecine is poised for its next evolution in meeting compelling patient needs in mental illness and mental disorder.”
With regard to Mydecine’s work with ICL and Dr. Erritzoe, the research to be undertaken in the new NHS-based research clinic is set out to cover:
Experimental psychopharmacology research in healthy populations and in addictions, obsessive compulsive disorder, eating disorders, and affective disorders;
Proof of concept studies and clinical trials testing efficacy, safety and mechanisms using a range of doses from micro- to macro-doses of psychedelics and associated compounds;
Use of multimodal human brain imaging to investigate mechanisms behind the actions of classic psychedelics and ketamine.
Part of Dr. Erritzoe’s current work includes studies that evaluate the science and efficacy of different doses of psychedelics in order to uncover mechanisms of actions and effects on brain plasticity, and cognitive and emotional processes. “The research of Dr. Erritzoe, who has published extensively on the science of psychedelics and microdosing, is critical to advancing the scientific efficacy of psychedelic medicines, and the results of studies from his team will be of critical importance as we develop the drug design and protocols for future controlled studies led by Mydecine,” said Mr. Bartch. “We are honored to be working with the Centre for Psychedelic Research and the new NHS-based research clinic as they progress and collect this important information to ensure safe use of psychedelics with the goal of producing the best possible outcomes for patients.”
Dr. Erritzoe is a Clinical Senior Lecturer in Psychiatry at Imperial College London. Alongside his clinical work in medicine/psychiatry, he conducts psychopharmacological research, using brain-imaging techniques such as PET and MRI. He was trained in PET imaging at Columbia University in New York and later undertook a PhD at University Hospital Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen. Since 2009 he has been involved in post-doc imaging research in the neurobiology of addictions and major depression at Imperial, and, together with Professor David Nutt and Dr. Carhart-Harris, he investigates mechanisms and therapeutic potential of MDMA and classic psychedelics.
“It is a very interesting time for psychedelic science and we are privileged and thankful to have received support to start an exciting new research clinic based at St Charles Hospital in CNWL Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust that will allow us to expand our clinical psychopharmacological research conducted from the Centre for Psychedelic Research at Imperial,” said Dr. Erritzoe. “Mydecine supports the expansion of ongoing work in the Centre at ICL and their contributions and enthusiasm for furthering this important work.”

So many developments here. Latest news is a major advancement play. Buying all I can here before the anticipated surge in the coming months.
Creeping back up towards the .40s range. Still long here and will likely hold this one for several months to see if they have any big updates that push this past the .50 area resistance.
Anyone else scratching their head at MMs OTCX and VALX? They seem to be working in tandem to drive the ask price downwards. Constantly down ticking one another and flashing often large block ask sizes. Bizarre.
Yes. The market got slaughtered. I’m still eyeing this one but have sold my position
It is the entire market collapsing vs any Mydecine's shortfalls. I am in about 25 stocks and only one was green today. The NASDAQ was down around 667 pts at some stage I read. Even MindMed has fallen to below $3.00 again which no-one ever expected. It is dodgy manipulation as a backlash to the Reddit crowd I am hearing (speculatively).
All this good news and the sp keeps sinking
