And yes they would love it!
ha ha! i saw s.c. on the skids back in 1991, i believe... buddy of mine knew a few of those cats... lolol... too funny!
hehe.
btw Southern Culture on the Skins: not bad at all.
I like having a board where I can post a story like this without being too off topic.
CJ and I went to see this band Southern Culture On The Skids (they rock), and they have a song called Banana Pudding. So CJ made up a batch of Banana Pudding and brought along some vanilla wafers- during the song he got up on stage with the band and hand fed the audience cookies dipped in pudding as the band rocked on and the rockers lined up. lol, so freakin funny:)
Banana Pudding
Using Instant Vanilla Pudding, follow directions and add a bunch of mashed ripe bananas before chilling.
Top with Whipped Cream and a sprinkle of Cinnamon, or Cocoa, or Both!
Try it with Lorne Doones :)

i was probably at one of those shows. ;) thems were the days.
Tahini dill reminds me of a freak I used to work with ... loved this kid ... he would make dressings like Banana Dill and Tahini Apple then take them to punk shows and sample them out to the crowd, hehe, making me laugh just thinking about 'ol CJ :)
That's a good idea Dean ... maybe I'll add trail mix to the salad bar :) The kids would go nuts over that one. (no pun intended, lol)
Hey manyVIIs ...
great board and great recipe.
One thing I do when in a pinch for the sunflower seeds and raisins is toss in a 1/2 (or more) cup of trail mix. Not the dried fruit and m&m one but the good one with lots of raisins and sunflowers.
:)
I'm gonna get back to you on that k?
Lunch: Gyro Day!
Served up with warm pita, hummus, tzadziki sauce, greek salad, and Ginger Carrot Soup!
The Hummus: Garbanzos, Tahini, Garlic, Cumin, Lemon Juice, Olive Oil, and Salt.
The Soup: In a pot ... saute onions with butter and fresh ginger, add carrots, add stock, bring to a boil and let simmer till carrots are soft. Puree in a blender with some heavy cream and a few slices of white bread. Season to taste with salt and white pepper- add a little sugar if needed :)
Quote of the day from one of the kids: "This hummus is good, but not as good as it is in Israel." lol
Breakfast: Hot Oats and Cream o Wheat w/ All The Fixins :)
Bueller?
lol :)
great looking board.
I've got her marked down.
hey, how about tossing that with my tahini dill dressing. tastes a lot like bleu cheese, but a lot healthier for ya... ;)
And no preservatives either, you can add a couple spoonfuls of sour cream or yogurt to that if you want it creamy.
Sometimes I throw in a small handful of Parmesan cheese and some fresh herbs like basil and it really comes alive.
You can make substitutes with the oils and vinegar but you just cannot beat olive oil and Balsamic, it's a top shelf combo.
For the holidays, do you have a simple yet elegant dessert to bring to the relatives I visit?
I usually find that my choices require destroying my kitchen or bringing something that I need to warm (like a cobbler) in the hostess' oven.
Thanks.
Wow. I had no idea that dressing was so simple to make. Thanks, I will no longer buy it by the bottle. I prefer to make my own dressings when I use them anyhow.
thanks..the dressing sounds great..hog
That's sick....Could you make me up a batch? tia
Fortunately for these kids I've hired a weekend cook, lol. She spoils them with lot's of goodies while I'm away:)
Thanks for visiting!
My favorite salads are simple:
Mixed Greens ... I like the mixed organic baby greens, or just romaine.
Tomato and Red Onion
Garbanzos and Chopped Hard Boiled Eggs
Sunflower Seeds and Raisins (these are key)
Balsamic Dressing (here is the easiest dressing to prepare and likely the finest tasting as well imo)
In a blender ...
Garlic
Red Onion
Balsamic Vinegar
Salt and Black Pepper
Blend till smooth then slowly pour in Olive Oil until the mixture stops spinning. Add a dash of water and Voila!
Rule of thumb for Oil to Vinegar ratio is 4 to 1 :)
****
For a slightly fancier salad but just as simple- using the same dressing try ...
Mixed Greens, Goat Cheese, Tomato and Fresh Basil. Yum!
GL!
