It is interesting that this has been bought on at least two occasions while on the expert market. If there really is a patent, someone out there will try to gain control and revive it. This could be a huge runner.

It costs nothing to pay the fee. You can pay by credit card on the USPTO website.

That's how I pay the maintenance fee on my three patents.

You forgot about the Lawyer fee. Lawyer fee is expensive. These are the choices as to who paid for the lawyer and fees:

1) someone from MCET. MCET was owning the patent

2) A stranger on the street

3) The lawyer himself who decided to work for free and donated his hard earned personal money to MCET. Lawyer fee aint cheap. I know some lawyers got paid enough to retire on one job.

4) big pharma

5) other options???


Out of the choices above, I picked the most logical choice which is number 1

The maintenance fee is not cheap, and no lawyer would want to work for free. Someone from MCET wants to keep the patent alive !!!! That someone paid the lawyer and that someone paid for the maintenance fee through the lawyer.

I believe a little clarification is in order.

There is no proof that it was MCET itself who paid the patent fee. It was not paid directly by MCET (because MCET has no employees). Also, MCET does not have an active DUNNs number so they probably don't have an active bank account.

The patent fee was paid by the lawyer in San Diego who has been responsible in the past for the fees on this one patent held by MCET. (You can look him up yourself if you like.)

The lawyer is not a member of the California Bar and has not replied to emails nor answered the phone or replied to phone messages.


In some cases when a company goes out of business any active patents will revert to the inventor.
