Anne Hathaway Joins Cast of DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS Remake
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Oscar winner Anne Hathaway (LES MISERABLES) will join Rebel Wilson in a remake of the 1988 comedy DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS. The remake, to be titled "Nasty Women" will be released by MGM Studios, and will see the female comedic duo as a pair of con artists teaming up to scam a technology prodigy. Jac Schaffer pens the script.
The original film was directed by Frank Oz and starred Steve Martin, Michael Caine and Glenne Headly. The screenplay was written by Dale Launer, Stanley Shapiro, and Paul Henning, it is a remake of the Shapiro and Henning script for the 1964 Marlon Brando/David Niven film Bedtime Story. In 2004, the film was adapted as a Broadway musical, with music and lyrics by David Yazbek and a book by Jeffrey Lane. The musical premiered on Broadway in 2005 and ran for 626 performances despite mixed reviews. It has since received tours and international productions. A West End production opened in 2014,
DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS tells the story of two men competing to swindle an American heiress out of $50,000. Caine played the suave, charming British con man Lawrence Jamieson, who believes in conning corrupt, rich people out of their money so he can spend it on culture and a lavish lifestyle. Martin played his laddish, arrogant American rival, Freddy Benson, who believes in conning just about anyone in order to get a free meal. It takes place in the French Riviera.

MOCI: Beijing's Jiahe Shiji to Co-Finance Modern Cinema Group's Five Violent Men
Nov 30, 2015 13:23:00 (ET)
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Nov. 30, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Modern Cinema Group Inc. (OTCPK: MOCI) is proud to announce the signing of multiple contracts with Beijing's Jiahe Shiji Movie & Television Company to co-finance its first movie, Five Violent Men, a highly entertaining and relevant movie written by Dale Launer. According to the deal, Jiahe will fund $22 million for production of the movie and will own the distribution rights in China. Matching funds have also been negotiated with a fund based in Europe. Participation from large cable television and satellite operators is expected as well. Therefore, the total production budget to be in the range of $45 - $50 million.
Ross Cooper, CEO of Modern Cinema Group says. "This co-production with Jiahe is the culmination of many months of planning and negotiation that will allow for a steady flow of movies to be co-produced between China and Hollywood. Our first movie, Five Violent Men is expected to establish an innovative model that not only works for us, but for other studios and production companies as well."
Industry Expert and former Paramount executive, Ajay Dugar says, "Modern Cinema Group has spent its formative years developing new avenues for raising the money needed for production financing. It's good to see these efforts come together at a time when its first movie is going into pre-production."
Principal photography for Five Violent Men will start on or before May 1(st) , 2016. Parts of the movie to be filmed in the United States, however the majority to be filmed in selected foreign countries.
Jiahe has produced and distributed many movies in East Asia over the past 10 years, such as:
"Bounty Hunter", "Deep Breath", "Days without Love", "Woman at the Field", "Produced by a Star", "Mom Learns to Drive", "Red Clay Chamber", "Weiliang Pearl", "Children in the Empty House", "Watermelon is Round", "Bird in the Skyline".
This is Jiahe's first collaboration with a studio based in Hollywood for the purposes of co-producing and co-distributing important Hollywood action movies with established international movie stars. Five Violent Men is a highly plotted action movie with strong characters and dark humor.
Modern Cinema Group based in Beverly Hills, founded in San Diego has spent the last three years designing and patenting a new model that allows both studios and operators to integrate their systems to leverage each other's natural advantages. Plans for an advanced international distribution network are in the works as well.

Dale Launer Options New Screen Play, Five Violent Men, To Modern Cinema Group Inc.
Nov 16, 2015 12:45:00 (ET)
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Nov. 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Modern Cinema Group Inc. (OTCPK: MOCI) is proud to announce the signing of a literary option agreement for the screenplay "Five Violent Men" written by Dale Launer. Although the details of the story are confidential, it is a highly plotted action movie with strong characters and dark humor. The screenplay is highly entertaining in true Dale Launer style, and depending on casting, is expected to go into principal photography by Q2/2016.
Dale Launer with two screenplays (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and My Cousin Vinny).on the Writer's Guild of America list of the "101 Funniest Screenplays" has written numerous scripts for major studios such as Disney, Fox, Tri-Star, Paramount, Warner Bros and Dreamworks.
Ross Cooper, CEO of Modern Cinema Group says. "When we decided to start a new Hollywood-based Studio using a co-operative model for large video service operators, I wanted our first movie to be high-concept with international box office "comps" in the mid-$400 million range. I believe Dale's screenplay will live up to expectations." Ross Cooper goes on to say, "This all started at the Monaco Film Festival, where Dale earned a "Best Picture" award for a prior film. He gave me a detailed, 45 minute pitch on a screenplay he was working on, playing out the characters and creating a vivid vision so distinct I felt I'd seen the movie. It was tremendously entertaining. I just couldn't get it out of my head. It's one of those movies you just can't wait to see. So I got in touch with him asked if it can be our first production. We're lucky he agreed."
Dale Launer says, "It was one of those remarkably, fortuitously-timed events. I was waiting for an opportunity like one that Ross had presented -- and he was looking for someone with a penchant for writing a very specific type of material. Over the years I've been pro-active in the screenwriting community regarding the treatment of screenwriters. Too often I've found that the goose who lays the golden eggs is treated more like a day-laborer rather than the primary creative engine. Modern Cinema Group has an approach that is novel, unique, revolutionary, yet simple. In a nutshell, it's what I would call "A Fair Deal". For those screenwriters familiar with traditional Hollywood deals -- this innovative approach is a breath of fresh air. It offers up a more holistic creative dynamic which utilizes the writer's talents in conjunction with existing and novel technology and not just in the movie itself, but in production, post-production and marketing. Writer's talent is both respected and fully-exploited.
Mitch Goldman, former New Line President of Marketing and Distribution says, "I've heard the long pitch for this story and it's a doozy. It's about as high concept as you can imagine and populated with some very intriguing characters -- some are based on real people, some composites of real people and some are made up. It's got strong roles that should attract major talent, some atypical shoot 'em up action, dark humor, twists, and some scenes which are fall down hilarious. It's fresh, taps into a rich vein of zeitgeist, and mines genres we're familiar with (and love), and to that a dash of fish out of water. It's a true Tent Pole movie that will send a shot across the bow of the greater motion picture industry. This movie should really perform as the story is timely, relevant, and perfect for international audiences looking for action and escape."
The agreed price for the Dale Launer screenplay exceeds industry standards at $1.5 million. The message to highly talented screenwriters being, there's a new buyer in town working to earn your trust.
Modern Cinema Group based in Beverly Hills, founded in San Diego has spent the last three years designing and patenting a new model that allows both studios and operators to integrate their systems to leverage each other's natural advantages. MOCI:Modern Cinema Group Inc. Receives Approval From The Chinese Government For Its Own Film Fund
Nov 04, 2015 14:57:00 (ET)
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Nov. 4, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Modern Cinema Group Inc. (OTCPK: MOCI) is proud to announce its new motion picture Film Fund that was approved by the Chinese Government. This new Film Fund owned and operated by Modern Cinema Group is expected to reach the $100 million by the Spring of 2016, it is known as the Zunhao Film Fund. The total capital available to Modern Cinema Group will now reach $200 million based on its Joint Venture with Beijing Jaihe Shiji Movie & Television Company and its Zunhao film fund. Access to both of these funds will provide enough capital for MCG's own slate of movies and TV shows in addition to important acquisitions that will commence over the next few months.
Ross Cooper, CEO of Modern Cinema Group says, "We are deeply grateful to the Chinese government for granting Modern Cinema Group the right to have its own Film Fund based in Shanghai. This Film Fund allows us the flexibility to enter into deals that we would otherwise be much more difficult for us. In addition, other Hollywood studios and production companies can now come to us with their proposals, and we can "green light" them on our own."
Mr. Ajay Dugar, former Paramount Pictures' Executive Director of Digital, says, "This is a watershed moment for Modern Cinema Group. They've worked hard to get their funding in place, and are now in pre-production with their first Dale Launer movie. These recent deals are putting MCG on the map!"
The person responsible for the recent success of Modern Cinema Group with both the Jiahe Film Fund Joint Venture and the establishment of MCG's new Film Fund is Ms. Selina Mo. Selina as Executive Producer and President of International Affairs for MCG has spent a great deal of time both with local Chinese officials and high level government agencies in order to integrate the financing, marketing and distribution processes between Hollywood and China. Says Selina, "We are highly motivated to build infrastructure between the United States and China in the early years of Chinese motion picture expansion as the China market alone will soon dwarf most of the other major markets for Hollywood content."
Zunhao, is also the name of the corporate entity MCG established in Shanghai to administer the funds. Here in the United States, the Film Fund will simply take the name Modern Cinema Group Fund I. Modern Cinema Group may establish additional funds in other cities not only in China, but in other parts of the world as well.

Modern Cinema Group Inc. Announces JV With Jaihe Shiji Movie & TV Company
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Oct. 28, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Modern Cinema Group Inc. (OTCPK: MOCI) is proud to announce the signing of an agreement with Beijing Jaihe Shiji Movie & Television Company creating a joint venture for the purpose of co-owning and managing a film fund based in China. Although the total amount of money in this fund is not expected to exceed $100 million, considered a mid-level fund by Chinese standards, there will be enough money to co-invest in MCG's slate of high-concept action movies as well as individual movies targeted to Asian audiences.
Ross Cooper, CEO of Modern Cinema Group says. "We're thrilled with this opportunity to work with Jaihe. The structure of our agreement is ideal for us, as they have agreed to invest half the money we need for each production while global television operators invest the other half. In this way, Jaihe will benefit not only from profit participation but from the all important Chinese distribution rights as well. As for our constituent television operators, they will have more ammunition to fight emerging on-line threats that encroach their markets every day."
In addition, this agreement allows Jaihe to purchase a ten percent stake of MCG's stock before the end of this year, taking one board seat.
Mr. Liguo Chen, CEO of Jaihe says, "The goal of this joint venture with MCG is to co-finance a certain number of Hollywood movies each year with a new studio model that is well suited to our fund. We especially like the operator co-operative approach that generates enough financing to match our investment. This means we have long-term financing partners who are strategically aligned. We also appreciate the initiatives MCG is taking to build a new and forward-thinking distribution infrastructure. All of this appeals to us very much!"
Mr. Ajay Dugar, industry expert and former Paramount Pictures' Executive Director of Digital, says, "I'm very happy to see MCG begin its operations by establishing important relationships in China. If Dale Launer can continue to make the movies he's known for (My Cousin Vinny and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels), they will be a fun group to watch."
