Meru Networks to Explore Options, Cut Jobs

Meru Networks Inc. (MERU), which makes networking products used to provide Wi-Fi service, said it would evaluate its options, including a potential sale, as it unveiled a restructuring plan.
Meru, which also warned of disappointing fourth-quarter revenue, expects to cut more than 10% of its full-time workforce as well as about 20 contractors. The Sunnyvale, Calif., company had 419 employees at the end of 2013 and reduced about 18 positions in the first half of 2014 under a cost-reduction program.
Meru also said it hired Deutsche Bank to advise the company on strategic options, potentially including a partnership, sale or merger.
Additionally, Meru said its vice president of sales for North America, Kevin Coppins, will resign effective Jan. 12. Tom Palomaki, vice president of worldwide support and services, will replace Mr. Coppins.
Meru expects to report fourth-quarter revenue of $21 million to $22 million, compared with previous guidance of $23 million to $27 million.
Investment firm Castle Union LLC reported a 5.7% stake in Meru in May. The firm said it was concerned about the company's "consistent underperformance" compared with peers and called for the company to pursue a sale process.

Wow, looks like an empty room. But there has been a party
here today. Chairs turned over, trash cans full, cups on floor,
kegs empty, room smells like cigar smoke, stale beer and sex.
Question is, will the celebration last thru the weekend or is
MERU a one-trick pony and celebrates at the end of each
quarter? Up a buck to $3.40 in one day on 2,2 M volume ,
could be a day traders dream. Going to watch this one.

I figure it will have to settle close to 2.40 or higher today. They pushed it down hard trying to get any sellers and it look like it didn't happen. Not much volume between 2.25 and guessing back to 2.40. The next leg back to 2.85 probably will take a alot longer.

Sold My MERU, in the 5.20's...

...had to lock in the gains after not being able to maintain the breakout and with the market going red. Will definitely be looking for a re-entry. Solid play for this year, but I am still a trader.

MERU - when I read the filings, I considered the RSU provisions as a standard provision, but it's true that NeoCarta specializes in mergers and they have been loading. I don't have in comment on insider trading there, as I'm not a lawyer and don't play one on TV. I will say that with the continued filings, large bid sizes and the way the chart is shaping up, that I'll be holding on tight until the story unfolds completely.
