I agree with your comments. Price is moving as EIA data was more bullish than expected.
WTI currently up 4% today to $47 @ bbl.
I agree MTDR is positioned well for 2016 however the oil world is anything but normal right now. What it should do and what it will do is 2 different things. The top firms on Wall St have been saying oil remains under heavy pressure due to oversupply.
There is no reason to be seeing an oil rally today but here we are.
It's crazy ...we seem to be in opposite world.

Wunderlich upped its MTDR price target to $37 from $35, positively surprised by the "excellent valuation" of $143M for the midstream assets, which the firm says should give MTDR plenty of dry powder to finance drilling and more midstream projects in 2016.

yup, she is doing well--no pun intended
Matador Resources reports record quarterly production
Apr 6 2015, 11:32 ET
- Matador Resources (MTDR +10.1%) says it achieved record quarterly production of ~2.1M boe during Q1, nearly double the 1.1M boe produced in the year-ago quarter and up ~10% from 1.9M boe produced in Q4 2014.
- MTDR attributes the strong result to newly completed wells in both the Delaware Basin and the Eagle Ford shale, as well as earlier completion dates on several Eagle Ford wells leading to less shut-in production during Q1.
- MTDR says production during March averaged ~25K boe/day for the first time in the company's history, and reached as high as 29K boe/day during the final two weeks.

*Although normally good this news of record production is further evidence that despite the drastic lowering in the number of domestic rig counts in the last 6 months many E&P's continue to produce record numbers of BBL/day. Until this trend reverses, and or demand greatly increases, the price for WTI crude will remain under pressure ...and very volatile imo.
Storage is becoming a growing issue as well. Where do you put all this oil?? Got tank!

DALLAS, Mar 02, 2015 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Matador Resources Company MTDR, -0.87% (“Matador” or the “Company”), an independent energy company engaged in the exploration, development, production and acquisition of oil and natural gas resources, with an emphasis on oil and natural gas shale and other unconventional plays and with a current focus on its Eagle Ford operations in South Texas and its Permian Basin operations in Southeast New Mexico and West Texas, today announced on Friday, February 27, 2015 it completed the previously announced combination of its Delaware Basin assets with Harvey E. Yates Company (“HEYCO”), a subsidiary of HEYCO Energy Group, Inc. As a result of the transaction, Matador will assume operatorship of all of HEYCO’s operated properties in the Northern Delaware Basin.
Key attributes of HEYCO’s properties include the following:
• Approximately 58,600 gross (18,200 net) acres located in Lea and Eddy Counties, New Mexico.
• Approximately one-third of the acreage is operated, one-third is non-operated and operations on the remaining one-third will be pursued by Matador under various operating, farm-in and other agreements.
• Essentially all of the acreage is held by production from existing wells and production units with high net revenue interests greater than 75%.
• Average net daily production during the fourth quarter of 2014 of approximately 530 BOE per day (approximately 70% oil), including production from the recently drilled CTA State Com #3H and #4H wells.
• Net proved developed producing (“PDP”) oil and natural gas reserves of approximately 1.3 million BOE (approximately 60% oil) as of September 1, 2014, based on an independent reserves analysis prepared by Netherland, Sewell & Associates, Inc., excluding any contributions from the CTA State Com #3H and #4H wells. Notably, no proved developed non-producing (“PDNP”) nor proved undeveloped (“PUD”) reserves have been assigned to these properties.
The HEYCO assets strategically link Matador’s existing acreage in its Ranger and Rustler Breaks prospect areas. The acquired acreage increases Matador’s total acreage position in the Permian Basin at March 2, 2015 to approximately 152,400 gross (85,400 net) acres, providing Matador with an increased operational footprint throughout the northern Delaware Basin.

Makes sense. Thanks for the info.
JMO but it all has to do with the drop in oil. IMO the oil procuding countries are afraid of the us oil and gas companies--thus keep the oil low and drive the us companies out of business.
Heard this AM that Russia is cancelling plans to build a pike line under the Black Sea to Europe because oil is so cheap.

Executing on its strong strategic focus, Dallas-based Matador was able to boost its oil and natural-gas revenue 72% to $269 million last year, and it expects to boost oil production around 40% this year after 76% last year.
Matador considers it a very promising area to drill, as company founder and CEO Joseph Foran described on a fourth-quarter 2013 conference call with analysts: "Not only do we consider this one of the best resource plays in the country, along with Eagle Ford (Shale Region)," he said, "but we consider the large majority of our acreage to be prospecting for multiple oil- and liquids-rich targets, including Wolfcamp and Bone Spring plays."

March 25: Marcellus expected to help refresh nation's natural gas reserves
Natural gas in storage has fallen below 900 billion cubic feet for the first time in 567 weeks, according to an U.S. Energy Information Administration report today.
The EIA reported today that the nation's volume of gas in storage was 896 Bcf for the week ending March 21. That is down 57 Bcf from the preceding week and is the lowest since May 2, 2003. It is half the volume of gas in storage a year ago at this time and half the EIA's five-year average, having fallen below that average's lowest point.
The week before was the first time since 2003 -- years before the first Marcellus well was drilled -- gas in storage had fallen below 1 trillion cubic feet. Gas in storage has declined 19 weeks in a row.
A harsh winter in parts of the country prompted the withdrawals to keep supply constant. And even though the EIA earlier this month forecast record injections of gas into storage this summer, the agency predicted levels in October would be the lowest since 2008.
In 2008, the company produced an average of 1,506 barrels of oil equivalent a day. In 2011, that shot to 7,049 boe/d. And in 2012, production increased to an average of 9,000 boe/d.
Total proven reserves of 23.6 million barrels of oil equivalent.
And the company has grown production exponentially over the past five years.
Matador Resources has locked up a 165,486 gross acres (41,302 of which are in south Texas' Eagle Ford).
Out on that trade for the bucker plus. Talk of strategic reserve being sold. We're overstocked, imo.
They didn't give me the 50, so had to settle for a price a little above it. Appears as if I'll be a happy camper! Their hedge sucked, we'll see what tomorrow has in store.
DICK’s Sporting is not the only firm we are looking up to this earnings season. The following companies are also likely to beat earnings in the to-be-reported quarter:
Matador Resources Company (MTDR) with Earnings ESP of +7.14% and a Zacks Rank #3
Same. I got it under $8 also...BIG LOL! Later!
I win on this one ;)
C'mon, where's the love? At minimum I pump quality!
Took some off the table. Putting lipstick on this pig, being greedy (not good), but wanting that 'final push' into earnings.
