The company owns or operates 27 marine shore based terminal facilities and 12 specialty terminal facilities among other assets. I first wrote about this limited partnership in November when it was trading some $15 a share lower.

The company continues to enjoy the solid revenue growth that attracted me to the shares in the first place. Revenues are expected to increase in the mid-teens both for FY2013 and FY2014.

The shares yield just under seven percent (6.9%) and Martin has incrementally and consistently raised its distribution payouts over the last decade, including right through the financial crisis. Insiders have been small but frequent buyers of MMLP in recent months.

Infrastructure investment firm Alinda Capital recently agreed to acquire a 50% economic interest and 49% voting interest in the company's general partner, Martin Resource Management. This caused Raymond James to upgrade MMLP to Outperform from Market Perform as it expects cash flow could improve materially as the result of asset dropdowns, potential acquisitions and other opportunities.

Martin Resource Management Corporation Announces Partnership With Alinda Capital Partners

Martin Resource Management Corporation ("MRMC"), owner of the general partner of Martin Midstream Partners L.P. (Nasdaq:MMLP) ("MMLP" or the "Partnership") announced today that certain affiliated investment funds managed by Alinda Capital Partners ("Alinda") will acquire a 49% voting interest (50% economic interest) in MMGP Holdings LLC ("Holdings"), a newly-formed sole member of Martin Midstream GP LLC ("MMGP"), the general partner of MMLP. Alinda is one of the world's largest infrastructure investment firms with approximately $7.8 billion in equity commitments. The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2013 and is subject to customary closing conditions.

MMLP yields close to nine percent (8.8%) and has more than doubled its payouts since it became a public entity in 2003.

Analysts are projecting that the company will grow revenues at an approximate 7.5% CAGR over the next two years. I would look for distribution rate growth on a similar path over the next two years as well.

Insiders have been small but consistent purchasers of the stock over the last two years.

The company is using divestitures to reduce its exposure to natural gas gathering and processing. Martin will be able to focus more on its oil storage, sulfur services and marine transport businesses which will help to streamline the firm.

Martin Midstream Partners L.P. ("the Partnership") reported net income for the first quarter of 2012 of $10.5 million, or $0.40 per limited partner unit. This compared to net income for the first quarter of 2011 of $7.3 million, or $0.31 per limited partner unit. Revenues for the first quarter of 2012 were $338.3 million compared to $283.0 million for the first quarter of 2011.

For the quarter ended March 31, 2012, net income was not impacted by non-cash derivative losses. For the first quarter of 2011, net income was impacted negatively by $0.5 million, or $0.02 per limited partner unit, in non-cash derivatives net losses from certain commodity and interest rate hedges that are subject to mark-to-market accounting.

The Partnership's distributable cash flow for the first quarter of 2012 was $22.8 million. Distributable cash flow is a non-GAAP financial measure which is explained in greater detail below under "Use of Non-GAAP Financial Information." The Partnership has also included below a table entitled "Distributable Cash Flow" in order to show the components of this non-GAAP financial measure and its reconciliation to the most comparable GAAP measurement.

Ruben Martin, President and Chief Executive Officer of Martin Midstream GP LLC, the general partner of Martin Midstream Partners, said, "We are pleased with the Partnership's first quarter financial performance. For the quarter we earned distributable cash flow of approximately $22.8 million and a strong distribution coverage ratio of 1.17 times. The Partnership benefitted from stronger than expected performance in our Sulfur Services Segment as our fertilizer and molten sulfur divisions continued their positive momentum and strong margin levels we saw in the fourth quarter last year. Operationally, our fertilizer production units are running at very high levels of utilization that coincides with strong customer demand for our product offerings.

Collectively, Terminalling and Storage, Natural Gas Service and Marine Transportation were all slightly below management's expectations for the quarter. However, we continue to be optimistic regarding the throughput level at our marine shore based assets as incremental deep-water offshore drilling seems imminent. Additionally, our marine assets are seeing day-rate improvement and high utilization across both in the inland and offshore divisions.

Looking forward to the second quarter, we expect continued strong performance in our Sulfur Services Segment fertilizer division. In addition, the Partnership will benefit from additional assets coming on line in our Terminalling and Storage Segment."

Cardinal is a joint venture between Redbird and Energy Capital Partners that is focused on the development, construction, operation and management of natural gas storage facilities across North America. In conjunction with the formation of the Joint Venture, MMLP acquired all of the Class B equity interests in Redbird for approximately $59.3 million (the "Investment").
