This is good news as far as I see it...positive move for the enviorment and willingness to prevent any pollution.
Marathon Petroleum (NYSE:MPC) says a brief electricity shutdown disrupted operations at its Garyville, La., refinery, one of the U.S.’s largest with a 522K bbl/day refining capacity.
Marathon Petroleum (MPC +0.4%) agrees to pay a fine of nearly $3M and spend another $2.8M on pollution controls at its distribution terminals in Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio as part of a settlement reached over allegations of Clean Air Act violations, the U.S. Justice Department said yesterday
Employees at Marathon Petroleum’s $MPC Galveston Bay refinery are expected to vote Monday on whether to accept a new contract offer that would end a strike that began more than three months ago.

Hi Weston I have not yet applied for private messaging facility yet,
Anyway to add on I feel that $MPC is very near to my Intrinsic Value so I would generally try not to hold on too long after that.
$MPC reported 1Q14 Refining & Marketing operating income of US$362m compared to our estimate of US$454m.

$MPC Refining and retail operations were hampered in the quarter by heavy Gulf Coast turnaround activity at both the Garyville, LA and Galveston Bay, TX refineries and winter weather-related operational impacts within its refining, logistics and retail businesses in the Midwest.
Haha yes Weston! What you think of it's upcoming quarter ?
Things are looking great for Mpc.. Quarter 1 rev. Coming!!
From my earlier post, it looks like $MPC has indeed reached very close to US 98.. for those traders out there..

MPC seems like its on the right direction of going up.. this can last till I believe around 98 then you might want to reduce..

MPC currently moves waterborne crude into its Midwest refining system due to insufficient inland crude supply at the Patoka crude hub.
I believe these pipelines will allow MPC’s Midwest refineries to run 100% inland crude.
MPC will fund US$975m (37.5%) of the US$2.6bn cost of Sandpiper and receive a 27% interest in the project.
As well as an additional 10% interest in the 300kb/d ENB/Southern Access Extension pipeline from Flanagan, IL to Patoka, IL.
MPC already owns 25% of Southern Access Extension.
MPC has agreed to be the anchor shipper on Enbridge’s 225kb/d Sandpiper pipeline, which will stretch from the Bakken to Superior, WI and come into service in 2016.
MPC is going to 100. The profit spread has been rising to the same levels levels as April when it was trading at 90.

Bought a good sized chunk at these prices. I have always liked this company even though it is volatile. I'm in. Turnaround will be fast IMO on higher oil prices.
Similar to which board?
Nice support here and others making mistakes. Hard to spill oil all over underground imo.
Marathon Oil is upgraded to Overweight with a raised $35 price target (from $30) by J.P. Morgan, which believes improving results in the Eagle Ford and Bakken shale plays underpin a loftier near-term production growth outlook, and a potential sale of oil sands operations could unlock additional value and an exploration program could spark share price catalysts.

The company and its subsidiaries have been busy on acquisitions and business development. Speedway LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of MPC, has been acquiring convenience stores, which helps the company to expand its presence in the retail segment as part of a broader expansion strategy.
Marathon is working to close on the purchase of a Texas City refinery from BP (BP) while it is also working with the privately held Harvest Pipeline to develop a truck-to-barge transportation project on the Ohio River.
The company will have almost 150,000 bpoe of upgraded refining capacity coming on line within the next three months.
So long as crude stays above $85/bbl and crack spreads stay wide then revenues should accelerate in 2013.
This is a great investment for those looking for near term and long term growth.
Marathon's recent closing price was $53.05, within a 52-week trading range of $30.24-$60.04.
It currently trades at a Price to Earnings ratio (PE) of 7.1 with earnings per share of $ 7.50.
The company pays a quarterly dividend of $0.35 a share for a 2.65% yield, off a tiny and conservative payout ratio of 14%.
Marathon Petroleum has a current ratio of 1.42, a profit margin of 3.29% and an operating margin of 5.08%.

Spartan Stores and Speedway Expand Fuel Rewards Partnership
Quick Stops and Speedways now reach consumers statewide with Fuel Rewards
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Jan. 11, 2012 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Spartan Stores and Speedway LLC (Speedway) announced today they are expanding their highly successful Fuel Rewards program statewide to provide fuel discounts to Michigan consumers who are eager to leverage their food and fuel budgets. Additional supermarkets will be able to offer Fuel Rewards to their consumers because of the expanded Speedway partnership effective January 8, 2012. With this expansion, Fuel Rewards are offered statewide at over 90 D&W Fresh Market, Family Fare, Glen's Markets and VG's locations, owned by Spartan Stores, through the yes Rewards program. Participating supermarkets with a Quick Stop Fuel Center in close proximity will issue Fuel Rewards for the Quick Stop center. Those without a Quick Stop Fuel Center in close proximity will issue a Speedway Fuel Reward. The Speedway partnership also allows Spartan Stores to extend a Fuel Rewards program to over 375 Spartan supplied independent grocers.
To participate in the Fuel Rewards program consumers will use their yes Rewards card to earn a Fuel Reward based on their grocery purchases. An example: A consumer purchases $50 in groceries and will receive a $0.05 per gallon discount on fuel. Fuel Rewards can be redeemed at Spartan owned D&W, Family Fare, Glen's or VG's Quick Stops or Speedway locations in Michigan, as well as Speedway locations in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky. The initial Spartan Stores-Speedway fuel partnership was launched in May 2011 and piloted through Spartan Stores' VG's stores and the 290 Speedway convenience stores throughout Michigan. Alan Hartline, Executive Vice President of Merchandising and Marketing for Spartan Stores notes, "Spartan Stores consumers are delighted with our Fuel Rewards partnership with Speedway. Since we launched the pilot program, consumers have saved nearly $250,000 on over 1.7 million gallons of fuel sold at Speedway locations across the state. We found in the VG's pilot that our consumers are very mobile and we are averaging redemptions at over 275 different Speedway locations each month across the state. Value is top of mind for the consumer, and we want to help them make their dollars go further at our supermarkets and fuel centers. Our stores are playing a key role in helping consumers manage their tight budgets by offering the many benefits of the yes Rewards program - free groceries, email savings, fuel savings and free prescription program that offers select free antibiotics, free prenatal vitamins, and free diabetes medications in addition to $4/30 day and $10/90 day supplies of nearly 300 generic medications to all members of the yes Rewards program." Grant Heminger, Vice President of Marketing for Speedway LLC, commented: "The Speedway -Spartan Stores partnership is a prime example of how two like-minded organizations committed to offering quality, convenience and value have combined forces to better serve our consumers. We are excited to expand the program and allow Spartan Stores' consumers to redeem their Fuel Reward vouchers in more than 1,200 convenience stores throughout Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky. This provides consumers even greater flexibility and mobility with their rewards while in their neighborhood or traveling for business or pleasure." In addition to value and service, Speedway offers consumers the quality they expect. For the third year in a row, Speedway is the Highest Ranked Gasoline Brand in the nation according to the prestigious Harris Poll EquiTrend® survey of more than 25,000 consumers. This ranking resulted in Speedway being named the 2011 Harris Poll EquiTrend® Retail Gasoline Brand of the Year. How the partnership works
