DENNIS GARTMAN'S NOT-SO-SIMPLE RULES OF TRADING
1. Never, Ever, Ever, Under Any Circumstance, Add to a Losing Position... not ever, not never! Adding to losing positions is trading's carcinogen; it is trading's driving while intoxicated. It will lead to ruin. Count on it!
2. Trade Like a Wizened Mercenary Soldier: We must fight on the winning side, not on the side we may believe to be correct economically.
3. Mental Capital Trumps Real Capital: Capital comes in two types, mental and real, and the former is far more valuable than the latter. Holding losing positions costs measurable real capital, but it costs immeasurable mental capital.
4. This Is Not a Business of Buying Low and Selling High; it is, however, a business of buying high and selling higher. Strength tends to beget strength, and weakness, weakness.
5. In Bull Markets One Can Only Be Long or Neutral, and in bear markets, one can only be short or neutral. This may seem self-evident; few understand it however, and fewer still embrace it.
6. "Markets Can Remain Illogical Far Longer Than You or I Can Remain Solvent." These are Keynes' words, and illogic does often reign, despite what the academics would have us believe.
7. Buy Markets That Show the Greatest Strength; Sell Markets That Show the Greatest Weakness: Metaphorically, when bearish we need to throw rocks into the wettest paper sacks, for they break most easily. When bullish we need to sail the strongest winds, for they carry the farthest.
8. Think Like a Fundamentalist; Trade Like a Simple Technician: The fundamentals may drive a market and we need to understand them, but if the chart is not bullish, why be bullish? Be bullish when the technicals and fundamentals, as you understand them, run in tandem.
9. Trading Runs in Cycles, Some Good, Most Bad: Trade large and aggressively when trading well; trade small and ever smaller when trading poorly. In "good times," even errors turn to profits; in "bad times," the most well-researched trade will go awry. This is the nature of trading; accept it and move on.
10. Keep Your Technical Systems Simple: Complicated systems breed confusion; simplicity breeds elegance. The great traders we've known have the simplest methods of trading. There is a correlation here!
11. In Trading/Investing, An Understanding of Mass Psychology Is Often More Important Than an Understanding of Economics: Simply put, "When they are cryin', you should be buyin'! And when they are yellin', you should be sellin'!"
12. Bear Market Corrections Are More Violent and Far Swifter Than Bull Market Corrections: Why they are is still a mystery to us, but they are; we accept it as fact and we move on.
13. There Is Never Just One Cockroach: The lesson of bad news on most stocks is that more shall follow... usually hard upon and always with detrimental effect upon price, until such time as panic prevails and the weakest hands finally exit their positions.
14. Be Patient with Winning Trades; Be Enormously Impatient with Losing Trades: The older we get, the more small losses we take each year... and our profits grow accordingly.
15. Do More of That Which Is Working and Less of That Which Is Not: This works in life as well as trading. Do the things that have been proven of merit. Add to winning trades; cut back or eliminate losing ones. If there is a "secret" to trading (and of life), this is it.
16. All Rules Are Meant To Be Broken.... but only very, very infrequently. Genius comes in knowing how truly infrequently one can do so and still prosper.

i am taking that advice period.. proactive..
real
early summer this year, imo......look to shift your thinking early, gang.....if not, you could be subject to long waits in lines, compliments of various companies.....ala......much talk about non existant shorts...&...the word "soon" being used once too often.......if you are holding a mover and a shaker and that sucker hasnt moved out of the channel for 2-3 weeks.......it "may" be dead money, and you "may" want to look elsewhere for the move.....go for the shorter plays......singles and doubles.......if you can get in and out with good profit on the first move....take it and move on.....the second move will probably tie up your money, (see above, shorts and soon) and will take a helluva lot longer than the first move.....quit marrying stocks.....quit drinking the damn koolaid....be pro-active and take the offense......take their money before they take yours....quit being wimps.....big board players kills for 20% moves, follow their lead.....quit paying so damn much attention to posters as to your own preservation of funds.....that guy doesnt pay your bills......if you see something on a stock that doesnt look right.....point it out(with good taste and grace) but point it out, nonetheless......if you have become "pals" with some ceo, promoter, ir guy, etc......keepem at arms length.....you have him right where he wants YOU........and last but not least....albert einstein once described "insanity" as doing the same thing over and over again, each time expecting different results........been there done that.......and i might add.....just a few months ago......dont think for a minute because some ole boy has been trading for 10 years or has a gazillion member marks, he doesnt make mistakes......he does......some of us just shift quicker......and i have problems changing, believe me........but if i can change my strategies in a trashy market.......you can too!

very very brief t3 indicator setup

A VISIT BACK THROUGH 2006......
welllllllll the ole man got caught up in a little bit of bigshotitis from late 05 through appril/may 06......my portfolio absolutely went through the ceiling........i could do no wrong....then an amazing thing happened......within weeks, i could do no right.....so what did i do.....why hell, what every redblooded american trader should do......PUSH THE ISSUE....force the trades....and if it doesnt work, get on the phone and holler at someone, or send out blistering emails or im's....doesnt matter who: friends, neighbors, family, ceo's, promoters, ir guys, pumpers, dumpers, and even an occassional market maker.......quite honestly i have never hollered and cussed so much in my entire life......my wife had to remove all hard objects in my office and replace them with a few sleeves of styrofoam cups.......the walls are better for it now.....
i have been trading online for approx 10 years and have probably made every mistake known to man.......quite frankly i had kinda figured out the learing curve and had a pretty good handle on all the do's and dont's......and my portfolio was showing it, too.........in 05 i probably paid more in taxes than most people make, trading........i had arrived......and naturally i could do no wrong from that point going forward..........but for some strange reason, just about the time i wrote that check out to the irs........within a few weeks of the signature, all hell broke loose.......i somehow managed to find myself caught up in every known pump/dump bullshit pos known to man......my trading skills went right out the gd window......and the walls began to suffer somewhat, too.....while at the same time, my phone bill began to grow, exponentially........back years ago, one of my mentors taught me how to talk to some of these pump artists......hell, as a matter of fact, i had gotten pretty good at it, too.....i could decipher the bs from the facts and make a good decision based on what i called my bsfactor........bsfactor of 90 meant that most all that came out of the mouth into my ears was just that.......bullshit......a bsfactor of 50 was about as good as it got.......only half of what they said was the truth, damn near angelic in littlestock land.......somehow in 06, the 50's became 90's and even 100's in some cases........all lies, deceit, and bullshit....in some cases, the "rumors" never materialized.......hell as a matter of fact the "rumors of rumors" never even materialized......oh please gimme back my beloved 2005.......where did it go? what happened to the bs50's??......ok, here is another email/im/pump/tip/surething.....now who the hell are these guys and where in the hell is "his" group.......ala....."my group is buying"..........to coin a well known phrase by butch....."who are those guys".......well what the hell, lemme throw a couple of bucks at it.......it might go........oops......lemme make that second buy.......good, a better buys......stage those buys......ahhhhhhhhhh yes, a bottom in place.......third and final buy.....all in......take off time, imminent.......hold the phone.......sob is falling.........WTF is going on.......pick up phone, much screaming and hollering......."calm down mikey, lotta good stuff working" "trying to get to the bottom of mm:DIRT who, we know, is 'short'"...........well it looks like a gd dumpathon to me, bubba........."no way,we are being shorted"......who........."someone".......who is "someone"......"we dont know".......so lemme get this straight sport, you are the ceo and you have access to the entire shareholder base, the xfr agent, the dtc's and the infamous nobos and the best you can come up with is "SOMEONE"......(NOTE HERE: last year guys like this, may have been a bs50, and therein lies the problem for 06, for the ole man....)......ok, i will give it another week or so.....
so bottom line for 2006.........mistakes made:
1. didnt pull the trigger fast enough on the sell side: the market changed and i was looking for the homerun ball to recoup whatever losses i had up to that point.......my mistake
2. i believe wayyyyyyyyyy too much of the bullshit that was spewed upon us........when one tries to live an honest life, even with the wrinkles, warts, flaws, character defects, and baggage........you kinda look for the honesty and integrity in others.........sometimes....many times, in fact.......it is MIA....my mistake again
3. the overall market conditions for 2006 changed dramatically over 2005......way too many companies came over to the dark black side and was dumping paper......the various reports of "shorts" every where.......proved to be a carrot that was dangled way too often, and was used very effectively, too. and here is why you and i bought the "short" bs......deep deep down in our subsubconscious.....the thought might have reared its ugly head....."what if its true".......so we hung in there another week or so......the thinking being: they might have to cover sooner or later........and the dumpage continues......wasnt shorts........it was every man for himself DUMPAGE by 'SOMEONE'.........that nameless faceless character that no one seems to know or can find!.....my mistake, by not adapting fast enough, and "ACCEPTING" the fact that those bs50's had indeed become bs90's......ala........where the hell did the germans, go?........my mistake again
4.for the most part, charting went right out the damn window this year.....oh sure, there are few stocks that manipulation didnt play a part in, but overall.........charting was intraday, at best.....imo......i do realize that there are those that live and die by the charts, and will not agree with this........but i can guarandamntee you that charts will NOT show when the dump is gonna start.......or the pump for that matter..........the pop and drops were too damn abused in 2006.......yep, they have always been around, but in 2006.........the ABUSE of them was horrendous!.......this business of otcbb/pinksheet trading can be deadly or it can be amazingly rewarding if you are on the right side of the trade.....most of us know what we are getting into by playing the "little" market..........
5. there are a couple of guys in our trading room that did very well this year,,,,,,,,but they were scalping here and there on the littles and playing nazcrackers.........my biggest mistake this year was probably TUNNEL VISION.......i only started trading the littles in 2003......prior to that, i ONLY played the bigs........i would see the messages scroll by on the nazcrackers......and not pay any attention......why?.....cause i was probably on the gd phone hollering at someone, or answering some im about dirt.ob which is set to fly next tues.......or fixing a hole in the wall.........why i did not play these plays is beyond me.......HUGE HUGE MISTAKE
took a couple of weeks off to reappraise my year.........pulled up an old statement.........was in 22 stocks, one month.......16 of which were priced at below .10..........8 of those were below .05 and two of which were .000 stocks...........oh the gd humanity......what the hell was i thinking?, my portfolio is such that i dont need to play these pos's..........so i dumped everything........and i do mean everything and reloaded an fired again this week.........i am not much on numbers, and believe me i could care less when some goober sends me an im stating "i own 40million shares of DIRT"..........my typical reply is "gimme a heads up when you are gonna start dumping"......i digressed again........this week was banner for me......i was able to recoup a substantial amount by getting back to basics......and doing those thing that i KNOW will work........
i look forward to 2007, very much and in fact, i am just damn excited about it...........and i hope this note helps a few people.........to hell with the ego thing..........glta.......mikey

Morgan Stanley fined $500,000 by NYSE over short sales
The Associated PressPublished: November 8, 2006
Ref: http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2006/11/08/business/NA_FIN_US_Morgan_Stanley_Fine.php
NEW YORK: Morgan Stanley Inc. was fined $500,000 (€391,359) by the New York Stock Exchange for failure to file accurate short-interest sales reports to several U.S. stock exchanges.
The Big Board said Wednesday the brokerage failed to "establish and maintain appropriate procedures" to disclose its short selling. The inaccurate reports were filed during an "unknown but significant" number of years, according to the NYSE.
The fine will be split between the NYSE, National Association of Securities Dealers, and the American Stock Exchange. The NASD is the regulatory body responsible for the Nasdaq Stock Market.
Morgan Stanley agreed to the fine, and neither admitted or denied wrongdoing. The fine was given to the New York-based financial company through NYSE Regulation Inc.
Short-interest transactions involves the sale of a security at the current price, which is then settled with shares lent to the seller by a third party. The seller hopes to make money off the trade by betting the price of the security will go down.
Brokerages are required to report their short positions on a monthly basis.
Morgan Stanley fell 36 cents to $75.54.
Open a margin account. Ask your broker about it.
Any way around the Three Business Day rule?
I have just opened an account with E-Trade and the first thing I noticed was that if I sell some stock I have to wait three business days before I can use the proceeds from that sale. Am I doing something wrong and/or is there anyway around this? Maybe switch to a different type of broker like TradeStation? I was told that this is an SEC regulation and there is nothing you can do about it.
Thanks for any advice!!!
Mr. Bill

Thanks franky but I was looking for a list of the MM's and what it means when they are ont the bid (example some MM's on the bid can mean dilution) and when they are on the ask (some MM's on the ask is a very good sign) just looking for a list of the MM's and what their position on a stock means?

Okay guys I got a question the other day when I was on here I noticed that a member on one of these sites posted a list of mms and what it meant when they were on the bid and when they were on the ask. I should have saved it then but i didn't. Anyways if anyone knows this or has a list of this I would greatly appreciate it this could help many newbies also to look at a Level II and know what mm's to be looking for.

THE PURPOSE OF THIS BOARD IS SIMPLE: to try to educate our novice and new traders! I am astounded at some of the messages that i see written on some boards. It is quite obvious, that some of our brethern have no idea what they are doing, and more importantly, dont even know where to look to find information.
I am going to be asking some of the better traders to "throw down" some of their better LINKS to success in the otcbb market......
the link can be technical, fundamental, news, filings, etc....i simply dont care what link is posted as long as its applicable to trading!
i am going to encourage all new traders to use some of these links in their everyday trading and in some cases, there will probably be some great information in that link, as well!
no offtopic posts will be allowed! no posting on stocks will be allowed! no pumping will be allowed! no bashing will be allowed!
i would ask posters to follow the format that i use in post number 1.........in the subject, spell out what the link refers to and in the body........post the link!
this board is primarily for use by anyone, but we are trying to help the newbie/rookie.....i think we are coming into otc season... its upon us... and we want to give our newer friends every possible resource that they can find!
