Liberty Gold Reports Weighted Average 82.9% Extraction in Phase 2 Metallurgical Column Testing at Black Pine Project, Great Basin, USA
18 August 2020
High and Rapid Recoveries Relatively Insensitive to Crush Size Continue to Support Simple Heap Leach Processing
VANCOUVER, B.C. – Liberty Gold Corp. (LGD-TSX) (“Liberty Gold” or the “Company”) is pleased to report results from Phase 2 metallurgical column testing on oxide material from drill core at its Black Pine Project in southeastern Idaho.
Gold extractions from 29 variability composites designed to test the full range of rock types and grades encountered in the drill holes were rapid, with >80% of the leachable gold extracted within 10 days, and final column leach gold extractions ranging up to 94.5%. These results are in-line with and slightly better than Phase 1 bulk sample column test results (78.9% weighted average extraction) and historical column tests from bulk samples and drill core (80.8%) (see press release June 16, 2020).
The Phase 2 metallurgical test work continues to provide support for a simple heap leach mining scenario. Large diameter core drilling in support of a Phase 3 metallurgical test program will commence on August 19, targeting the recent D-3 discovery, D-1 Southeast Extension, F zone and new M Zone target.
Metallurgical test work included fine and coarse bottle rolls and column tests using 0.5 inch (12.7 millimetre (“mm”)) and 1 inch (25.4 mm) crushed material. In total, 87 bottle rolls (29 coarse mesh and 58 fine mesh) and 29 column tests were carried out on material composited from six large diameter (PQ) drill holes in the D-1, D-2 and Rangefront target areas.
Results from the metallurgical test work demonstrate that oxide material from Black Pine responds well to column testing and should contribute to low capital and operating costs in the future. The test work undertaken on the project to date has significantly mitigated the metallurgical risk related to the known mineralization. Virtually no transitional or sulphide mineralization has been encountered to date at Black Pine in over 2000 drill holes.
The work was supervised by independent consulting metallurgist Gary Simmons, formerly the Director of Metallurgy and Technology for Newmont Mining Corp. Mr. Simmons has managed or supervised a significant number of metallurgical testing programs on similar deposits throughout the Great Basin. According to Mr. Simmons, “Data from metallurgical testing to date at Black Pine continue to indicate rapid leaching and relatively high gold extractions, with a remarkable insensitivity to particle size, and suggest that a combination Run of Mine and coarse crush/agglomeration heap leaching may be the preferred process options at Black Pine.”
Key Points:
Twenty-nine column leach tests produced a weighted average* 82.9% gold extraction. With a range up to 94.5% gold extraction. See Table 1, below, or click here: https://libertygold.ca/images/news/2020/August/Gold_Extraction_Data.pdf
Gold extraction was rapid, with >80% of the leachable gold extracted within the first 10 days of column leaching. See Figure 1, below or click here: https://libertygold.ca/images/news/2020/August/Cumulative_Leach_Curves.pdf
Percent gold extraction is well-correlated with head grade, with the highest-grade composites returning the highest extraction numbers.
Twenty-nine coarse bottle roll tests (target of 80% passing 10 mesh or 1.7mm particle size) produced a weighted average 78.8% gold extraction.
Twenty-nine fine bottle roll tests (target of 80% passing 200 mesh or 75 micron particle size) produced a weighted average 81.5% gold extraction for direct leach, and 29 fine bottle roll tests produced a weighted average 84.1% for carbon in leach (“CIL”).
Gold extraction is relatively insensitive to particle size. Most composites can be projected to coarse particle sizes approximating run of mine conditions without significant loss of gold extraction.
Results generated by this program are consistent with historical column test results generated by Noranda in 1988 prior to mining, as well as Phase 1 metallurgical testing by Liberty Gold using large diameter columns and 300 kilogram bulk samples.
A first-ever metallurgical test of material from the Rangefront Zone, located approximately 2.5 km southeast of the D-2 zone and other holes used for this study, returned extractions ranging up to 81.5% from four composites.
*Weighted average gold extraction is obtained using the following equation: (composite head grade (grams/tonnes) multiplied by extraction (%

Sounds like you have a lot of history about this company. What are your projections on their projects and share potential? Thanks
Just to clarify; in 2011, when Newmont Gold bought Fronteer Gold for $2.3 Billion ... the Long Canyon Gold Mine (Nevada) was the main asset that Newmont was interested in.
Pilot Gold was originally formed as a smaller spin-off company from this large transaction; Pilot then carried forward with Fronteer's other assets, projects, and prospects.
In 2017, Pilot Gold re-branded as Liberty Gold , with new ticker symbols, etc.
Liberty is now focused on rich, Carlin-style gold projects in Nevada, Utah and Idaho.

Next to buy next month '-)
PLGTF$ This group has a proven track record. I wouldn't worry. The gold in Nevada is close to another Newmont operation, who bought them out (Fronteer Gold) last time for 2.3bil. The Turkey operation will most likely be bought out by Teck Corporation. Now is the time to add, IMO. Just takes patience on this one. Good Luck!

Jeb Handwerger It may seem like a confusing time to be a mining investor, but Jeb Handwerger, of Gold Stock Trades, insists it doesn't take a rocket scientist. "Stick to the fundamentals," he says. "The technicals will eventually reflect the fundamentals." In this interview with The Mining Report, Handwerger talks about what companies have the right foundation to shine after the market dusts itself off and starts to climb.
Section of interview;
TMR: What else in Nevada should investors watch?
JH: I've always told my subscribers to watch Kinsley Mountain. Let me back up a little. In 2011, Fronteer Gold Inc. (FRG:TSX; FRG:NYSE.MKT), which had the Long Canyon discovery, was our major pick. Many of my subscribers and I made a lot of money off of the takeout by Newmont Mining Corp. (NEM:NYSE) for $2.3 billion ($2.3B). Pilot Gold Inc. (PLG:TSX) is the spin out of Fronteer. Pilot has one of the top geologists who helped advance Long Canyon for Fronteer, Moira Smith. Pilot recently hit nice results from Kinsley Mountain. After selling Fronteer after the Newmont takeout, I just got back in and took an initial position after the good results. It's very impressive. Once this market turns, people are going to become aware that this may have the potential to be the next Long Canyon.

Pilot Hits Home Run

There are some wonderful aspects to getting old and coming down with Alzheimer’s. For one, you get to hide your own Easter eggs . As a writer you can go back and read what you wrote a few months ago and think, “By golly, that writer got it just right,” when reading your own crap.
I wrote a piece about the Kinsley Mountain project of Pilot Gold two months ago. By golly, I got it just right. Other than misspelling the name of the Rock Whisperer, Moira Smith.
On the 18th of November, Pilot announced the drill results of some 32 core and RC holes at the Kinsley project. Assays are pending for an additional 26 holes. The company has drilled about 14,200 meters of a 20,000 meter program due to end this month.
When I visited Kinsley two months ago Moira told me that her theory was that Alta Gold was producing from the wrong package of rocks and if they could drill the same rock sequence that they had found at Long Canyon, she thought the project had district scale potential.
She also felt the NS trending structures were as important or more important than the prevailing NNW structures that Alta had been mining. Alta had been mining the Candland Shales and she thought the limestone and shales underneath the Candland sequence would show better mineralization.
In short, Moira and her team wanted to apply the Long Canyon model to Kinsley. The initial drill results from the 2013 program support her theory. Proof of Concept came in the form of a 36.6-meter intercept of 8.53 g/t gold. To give you an idea of how significant that is, the hole was located some 550 meters from Alta’s mining. It was the single best intercept of over 1300 drill holes drilled at Kinsley.
I’d say Pilot and Moira Smith and her team just hit a giant home run. I wonder if Newmont has another $2.3 billion they would like to spend on another multi-million ounce deposit in the Long Canyon Trend.
Pilot has about $23 million in the bank and is well cashed up for the coming future. Look for more drill results in the next month.
Pilot is an advertiser and I am biased. Do your own due diligence.

Expert Comments: Pilot Gold.

Joe Mazumdar, Canaccord Genuity (10/7/13) "In the Biga District of Turkey, Pilot Gold Inc. has been drilling at the KCD project on the northeastern part of its now 90-sq-km land package, and anticipates more drill results over the next six weeks followed by a December 2013 resource update. KCD is a multiple mineralized system hosted in volcanics and volcano-sediments that appears to be closed off at depth by a low angle, normal fault. . .of interest is the southern part of the district (Karaayi). . .the area centered on potential oxidized, high-sulphidation gold mineralization that present targets amenable to low-strip, open-pit mining and heap-leach processing."
Tara Hassan, Haywood Securities (10/4/13) "Pilot Gold Inc. reported results from its 30,000m 2013 drill program at its TV Tower project in Turkey. . .today's results from TV Tower continue to deliver excellent intersections from the silver and recently discovered oxide gold zones, extending the zones. The new zone of oxide mineralization overlies the silver zone and could have important implications for a future production scenario at KCD as it could provide an early, low-cost cash flow opportunity. . .considering the potential for Pilot's projects and its strong cash position, which will fund exploration through 2014, we continue to expect the company to outperform its peer group."
Tara Hassan, Haywood Securities (10/4/13) "Results from Pilot Gold Inc.'s TV Tower project continue to deliver excellent intersections from the silver and recently discovered oxide gold zones, extending both. Jeff Killeen, CIBC World Markets (10/4/13) "Pilot Gold Inc. has reported drilling results from the KCD target of its TV Tower project located in Turkey. Drilling was successful in expanding the silver zone to approximately 600m by 650m, and extended the recently discovered oxide gold zone down dip over 200m to the northeast, with both zones remaining open to the north. . .Pilot's 2013 drilling program at the KCD Target has shown continuing expansion of mineralization, while defining both a new silver and gold oxide zone. . .we believe that further upside exists at the property and we expect it will be defined during 2014."
The Gold Report Interview with Bob Moriarty (10/2/13) "I went to see a project I first visited 12 years ago called Kinsley Mountain, owned by Pilot Gold Inc. It was first put into production in 1994 and went out of production in 1999. Kinsley Mountain is one of those projects that may be a Long Canyon–type project—which would be 2, 5, even 10 Moz—or not. Even if it's not a Long Canyon, it would still be 500 Koz, and could still sell. It won't cost Pilot Gold anything to drill, because it can recover the money. Pilot's management team is the best in the industry, with most members coming from Fronteer Gold. When Newmont Mining Corp. bought Fronteer out for $2.3B, it was an absolute homerun for shareholders. Pilot is doing the same thing. You're buying at a 60% discount to what it was nine months ago.
"A year ago, I visited Pilot Gold's projects in Turkey. One is a copper-gold porphyry; the other is a gold-silver epithermal system. Both were very attractive and had great technical success and great drill results. It's important for your readers to understand that the decline in shares since January has not been rational. Nor has it been manipulation or shorting. It's been hedge funds and gold mutual funds being forced to sell shares. Often, they sold the best projects just because they could. They needed cash and sold everything they could to raise it. . .the company's joint venture with Teck Resources on the big porphyry project in Turkey is in a holding pattern. It's not attractive at $3/pound copper, but it's very attractive at $4/lb copper. The company is drilling the heck out of the TV Tower project and Kinsley Mountain. It has plenty of cash and an incredible ability to raise money." More >

Bob Moriarty, 321 Gold (9/23/13) "When you are looking to invest, find a junior where they recognize success. Pilot Gold Inc. is such a company. . .my opinion, humble as it is, is that [chief geologist] Dr. Moira Smith is going to hit another home run. . .Pilot has two company-making projects and one potential company-making project. . .investors will wake up, they will see great value in stocks like Pilot and they are going to make gains they never dreamed of before."
Tyron Breytenbach, Cormark Securities (9/11/13) "Pilot Gold Inc. continues to expand the KCD target, its current flagship project on the TV Tower land position; recent results include a stepout hole grading 90.2 g/t Ag over 91.5m, well above the weighted average assay grade and the forecast 30 g/t resource grade of the Ag 'blanket' zone. We are moving our resource forecast up to 40 Moz Ag. . .we leave our $1.70 price target and Buy rating unchanged."
Morning Coffee (9/11/13) "Pilot Gold Inc. is advancing on multiple fronts; the company reported that drilling on the near-surface zone of silver-only mineralization at the KCD target at TV Tower continues to return strong silver results, including 90.2 g/t silver over 91.5m in stepout drilling. . .Pilot is advancing KCD towards resource definition while continuing to develop the district-scale potential across TV Tower, which is a joint venture with Teck Resources Ltd. Pilot is the operator at and can increase its interest in the project to 60% (from 40% currently) through sole funding of exploration over a three-year period."

5 Gold Juniors to Watch
Wednesday May 29, 2013, 4:30am PDT
By Andrew Topf - Exclusive to Gold Investing News
Picking a gold junior that will find exploration success and grow your investment dollar is no easy task, especially in today’s markets, where the shine has come off of precious metals.
At the recent Cambridge House mining investment conference and trade show, which ran from May 26 to 27 in Vancouver, exploration pundits gathered for an informative seminar chaired by investment guru Rick Rule. While Rule conceded that there have not been many good exploration stories to talk about in the last year or so, he pointed to a few high-performing companies that have done well, such as GoldQuest (TSXV:GQC), which went from 6 cents to $1.60, Colorado Resources (TSXV:CXO), whose stock price rose seven-fold after a discovery hole yielded strong results, Reservoir Minerals (TSXV:RMC) (26 cents to $3.60), Africa Oil (TSXV:AOI) (80 cents to $10), Alpha Minerals (TSXV:AMW) and Fission Uranium (TSXV:FCU).
“There is nothing that can yield you speculative gains like anticipating exploration success,” Rule said before introducing the panelists, Brent Cook, John Kaiser, Lawrence Roulston and Jordan Roy-Byrne.
Below are five gold companies that were recommended by panelists. They appear in no particular order.
Asanko (formerly Keegan Resources) (TSX:AKG) Asanko’s flagship project is the Essase gold property in Ghana. It hosts 4.41 million ounces of gold in the measured and indicated categories averaging 1.45 grams per tonne. The company has completed over 278,000 meters of drilling to date and it plans to released a feasibility study in the fourth quarter of this year. A prefeasibility study published on May 13th shows annual production of 200,000 ounces and all-in cash costs of $990 per ounce. The project has a net present value of $355 million and a 23.2-percent internal rate of return, based on a gold price of $1,400/oz.
Riverside Resources (TSXV:RRI) Riverside Resources is a prospect generator with a number of gold, silver and copper projects. In April 2013 Riverside signed a $2.25 million exploration alliance with Hochschild Mining (LSE:HOC) for explore the Mega-shear gold belt in Western Sonora, Mexico. That adds to exploration partnerships with Cliffs Natural Resources (NYSE:CLF) to identify and acquire iron oxide copper gold projects on Mexico’s west coast, and Antofagasta Minerals (LSE:ANTO) to explore for copper in British Columbia. Riverside has 9 gold or gold-silver properties at various stages of exploration, with all except one in Mexico. It also has two option agreements, with Guerrero Exploration (TSXV:GEX) and Sierra Madre Developments (TSXV:SMG), on its Cerro Azul and Penoles targets.
Pilot Gold (TSX:PLG) Pilot Gold is the company spun off from Fronteer Gold, which was acquired by Newmont Mining (NYSE:NEM) in 2011. Pilot has identified 13 early-stage targets in Nevada and Turkey. Its latest news release in May 2013 reported the first 10 holes of a 13-hole campaign at TV Tower’s KCD target. Highlights included 93 grams per tonnes silver over 122 .7 meters at the silver zone and 1.63 g/t over 40.7 meters in the gold zone. Step-out drilling is currently underway.
Premier Gold Mines (TSX:PG) Premier Gold Mines owns gold properties in central Canada, Nevada and Mexico, including the Rahill-Bonanza joint venture that is the last piece of the Red Lake trend not 100-percent owned by Goldcorp. (TSX:G, NYSE:GG) Premier’s Cove project in Nevada is within the Eureka-Battle Mountain trend that hosts multi-million producing and past-producing mines, and according to the company, is “one of the most under-explored projects in Nevada.” On Tuesday Nevada’s Bureau of Land Management approved a Plan of Operation for the Cove-Helen Underground Mine which allows Premier to do exploration drilling through its subsidiary Au-Reka Gold.
Corvus Gold (TSX:KOR) has precious metals properties in Nevada, Alaska and Quebec. Its flagship North Bullfrog project in Nevada hosts 1.6 million ounces of gold. According to a preliminary economic assessment released in December 2012, the mine would produce an annual 78,400 ounces of gold over 10 years at average cash operating costs of $816/oz. Corvus initiated a 20,000-meter drill program this month.

Still looking a little alive
Well, at least it has been showing signs of life in the past few weeks.
So Pilot has now ridden down from about $3 in July to about $1 now.
And down another 15% since the last post. Really, really not good.
Ditto yet again. Trend has continued in the general direction of down.
Frankly, I'm glad I sold off when the Newmont deal went down, and didn't place my hopes in Pilot. Thus far, it would have been a waste of my time and money.
And now it has continued down to around the $2.60 level. Not really zooming, is it?
Well, from about $3.60 at launch to about $3.00 now. Not exactly zooming skyward.

Hockmir, I am still holding on to my shares.
I held FRG for a few years, made a lot of money and really respected the team that led FRG. They seemed to have a knack for unlocking shareholder value. So, I want to get the Pilot shares because if the same team isn't exhausted or too wealthy I think they will continue to wheel and deal with skill.
Also, I recently exited a profitable buyout a little early and promptly deposited the proceeds in a security that lost value. So, I intended to see this ride through to its end.
So, thank you FRG! You assuredly added a couple of years to my retirement and a semester to my children's college education!
