The Energy Absurdity of the Week: Media Suddenly Discovers Politicians Make Promises for Campaign Donations
But only when Trump does it.
David Blackmon
May 09, 2024
The news today is filled with reports by the legacy media outlets that form the propaganda wing of the Democrat party expressing shock and surprise that a presidential contender made some promises to business executives as he asked them for big contributions to his campaign.
Why, the nerve! That’s never happened, has it? Apparently, media outlets ranging from the Washington Post to Politico to Reuters to the New York Times to the Guardian to the Atlantic had never heard of such a thing happening until it involved a dinner for oil and gas executives hosted by - you guessed it - Donald J. Trump.
You don’t have to believe me: Just go out to Google and do a search on “Trump and oil executives,” and see what comes up.
Here’s what I found:
I especially love the headline from Politico: “A little bold and gross: Oil industry writes executive orders for Trump to sign.”
Hey, you never saw that publication complaining about the NRDC, Sierra Club or PETA writing executive orders for Joe Biden to sign. You sure as hell don’t see any of those propaganda outlets bitching when the Center For Biological Diversity dictates endangered species listings to the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, or when EV makers and wind and solar developers literally wrote entire sections in the Inflation Reduction Act that now plow billions of dollars of subsidies back into their own pockets.
Truly, the sort of rampant crony capitalism running out-of-control in Washington right now is fantastic to the media so long as Democrats are in charge.
But let Trump promise to take action to reverse some of Biden’s climate alarm policy madness while soliciting donations, and you’d think the damn world has come to an end.
One of my favorite excerpts from the WaPo story comes in the first 2 paragraphs:
Former president Donald Trump repeatedly ranted about wind power during a fundraising dinner with oil and gas industry executives last week, claiming that the renewable-energy source is unreliable, unattractive and bad for the environment.
“I hate wind,” Trump told the executives over a meal of chopped steak at his Mar-a-Lago Club and resort in Florida, according to a person with knowledge of the meeting, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe a private conversation.
[End]
Wooo-hooo! Who do I send the check to? I’m happy to pay for truth-telling like this, and so should every one of those present at that Mar-a-Lago event.
Meanwhile, the writers at the far-left Guardian seem to be having a case of the vapors here:
In front of more than 20 executives, including from Chevron, Exxon and Occidental Petroleum, he promised to increase oil drilling in the Gulf of Mexico, remove hurdles to drilling in the Alaskan Arctic, and reverse new rules designed to cut car pollution. He would also overturn the Biden administration’s decision in January to pause new natural gas export permits which have been denounced as “climate bombs”.
[End]
I mean, this is just the same kind of stuff Trump did in his first term. Were these clowns just not paying attention?
And that last sentence about Biden’s ‘pause’ in LNG export permits: Are we really to believe these fake journalists aren’t aware that order was made purely as a sop to Biden’s own campaign funders in the climate alarm lobby?
Like it or not, this is how American politics work: Individuals, NGOs, unions, companies and entire industries tend to donate money to politicians who promise to take policy actions that are best for their own interests.
One of the big media complaints about Trump is that he tends to be so direct and blunt about it, or as multiple stories complain, he takes a “transactional approach” to politics. Well hell, all that means is he’s being unusually honest about what everyone knows is going on here.
What these propagandists still don’t get after all these years of covering Trump is that his direct and blunt approach to politics is one of the main reasons why he won in 2016, probably won in 2020, and is increasingly likely to win again this year. The fact that his behavior is “unusual” for a political figure is actually one of his main assets.
Back in 2016, an unusually high percentage of oil executives supported Hillary Clinton instead of Trump. If they make that same mistake in judgment again this time around, well, they will richly deserve what they get from a second Biden term.
That is all.

Carnival Rides
“These agencies are not trusted because they are not trustworthy.” — El Gato Malo on “X”
James Howard Kunstler
May 10, 2024
The miasma of anxiety befogging so many brains in our troubled land begins to lift as every narrative served up by the US fascist intel blob goes annoyingly stale and impotent. The worst media meme — that a vicious officialdom is “defending our democracy” — gets laughed out of the room now when repeated incessantly by such shills as Jen Psaki and Lawrence O’Donnell of MSNBC. Everybody understands they want to “defend our democracy” by cancelling your freedom of speech, pounding you into bankruptcy, and stealing whatever remains of your stuff.
Likewise, everything else: that our doings in Ukraine are a “fight for freedom,” that “white supremacy” lurks just out of sight getting ready to pounce on the “marginized” (who are actually running things, and doing it very badly), that “Joe Biden” turned around the economy, that “voting rights” equals non-citizens getting to vote, that election fraud is a “big lie” (and that the J-6 riot over it was an “insurrection”), and that the Covid vaccines were “safe and effective.”
None of these dishonest persuasions work anymore, and all of the persuasion machinery stands in plain sight like so many nauseating carnival rides. One by one, the rides are flying apart, scattering debris and body parts of the poor slobs who were on the rides all over the fairgrounds. And so, the fear rises in the ones running the carnival. The county sheriff stands by looking to round up the sleazeball carnies with their missing teeth and needle tracks inside their elbows. Before long, they will find themselves in the courtroom. . . .
The vicious officialdom put up the carnival and all of its rides to distract the public from the crimes they committed during and after the 2016 election. Donald Trump’s idle talk about putting Hillary Clinton in jail struck nerves throughout the federal bureaucracy, the halls of Congress, and the strongholds of the Clintons and the Obamas.
The Clintons had literally bought the Democratic Party apparatus under the DNC, using the money they grifted into the Clinton foundation from such operations as the Uranium One deal, the Skolkovo war-tech transfer deal, and the Haiti earthquake relief effort. They were sure that ownership of the DNC guaranteed the election for Hillary. It did guarantee that she would overcome Bernie Sanders’ primary election victories and the delegates that came with them, even after Julian Assange’s Wikileaks release informed the world just how the Clintons bought and paid for the DNC and the whole Philadelphia convention. Call this the birth of the “misinformation” cult, in which everything true was converted into a “big lie.”
The problem was, Hillary lost that election. What a surprise! Buying the convention was not enough, it turned out. Those “deplorables” did the unthinkable: cast enough of their stinky votes in just the right rust belt precincts to elect the Golden Golem of Greatness, who was as surprised as anybody, and really unprepared to cobble together an actual governing administration — in the process of which, Donald J. Trump was completely buffaloed by the outgoing Obama gang. They plotted by the lights of the White House Christmas tree to go after the interloper with all they had, starting with the surgical removal of a most dangerous appointee, National Security Advisor Mike Flynn, who knew all the secrets. . . and from there onto four years of Russia, Russia, Russia. . . .
It’s hardly a mystery anymore how “Joe Biden” got elected. It’s perfectly obvious despite the “big lie” narrative that the 2020 election was stoked with a veritable orgy of ballot fraud and direct election interference by agency rogues, especially the ones leaning hard on Facebook, Twitter, and Google to manipulate what the public actually saw. Don’t believe your lying eyes they told the nation. What is a mystery is why they chose “Joe Biden” to front for the cabal around Barack Obama actually running the show. Never before in US history was there a president who left such a slime trail of bribery and corruption. Just as they had spent all their energy the previous four years in undermining Mr. Trump, they had to spend the next four years propping up and defending “Joe Biden,” and then desperately trying to save their own asses from a Trump return. Meanwhile, they set out on their mission to wreck the country sufficient to clear the way for establishing a transhuman public-private utopia of crypto-Marxian “equity” (theft of property).
All of this political legerdemain summoned up the miasma of anxiety that beclouded the people of this sore-beset republic, and the nearly final blow to them was the Covid-19 operation, set in motion with the phony PCR test, that has now left a substantial number of citizens, vaccine-injured, disabled, and on-course for an early death — a pretty grotesque affront to our democracy. The victims are beginning to realize it.
The battery of Trump trials and lawsuits meant to put him totally out of business are now all simultaneously collapsing. Special Counsel Jack Smith is left doing Chinese fire drills around his office Keurig coffee machine. When the prank-fest in Judge Juan Merchan’s courtroom concludes, whether the jury sees the show for the farce that it is, or not, the Golden Golem of Greatness will be at large again among the voters. If he is clever enough to pick a capable veep that represents something like “assassination insurance” — say, Vivek, Tulsi Gabbard, or JD Vance — then the Obama cabal and the blob that has been protecting it will be swept out of power and into a dragnet of a kind of law actually associated with the word justice.
They are running out of ways to avoid it. All they’ve got left are the direst resorts: war, crashing the economy, another bio-weapon op against their own people, or an outright coup d'état. And even those probably won’t work.

California AG Bonta Prepares Lawsuits Ahead of Possible Trump 2024 Win
California Attorney General Rob Bonta (D) is preparing a barrage of lawsuits in the event that former President Donald Trump wins the 2024 election, studying his agenda and planning to stop it in advance in a repeat of 2017-21.
Bonta is planning to repeat the work of his predecessor, Xavier Becerra, who returned from Congress and revived a dormant law license to sue the Trump administration in liberal federal jurisdictions to tie down his presidency.
The Los Angeles Times reported Thursday:
California Atty. Gen. Rob Bonta said he and his staff have been reviewing former President Trump’s second-term agenda in detail to prepare a potential onslaught of environmental, immigration and civil rights lawsuits in the event Trump defeats President Biden.
…
Bonta, a Democrat who is mulling a run for governor, said he has been reviewing the work of his predecessor, Xavier Becerra, who filed more than 100 suits against Trump policies before leaving the office to become Biden’s secretary of Health and Human Services. Bonta and his deputies are also looking closely at a document drafted by the Heritage Foundation, a Trump-aligned think tank, known as “Project 2025,” that offers a blueprint for Trump’s second-term policy goals.
…
Asked for comment on Bonta’s plans, Anna Kelly, a spokesperson for the Republican National Committee, said, “California liberals will try anything to spread their failed, fringe-left agenda far and wide, but they won’t stop President Trump from making America great again.”
Bonta’s office failed to respond this week to a query from Breitbart News about what the California Attorney General was doing to uphold the civil rights of Jews on campus, after antisemitic “encampments” spread across the state.

FBI agents PLANTED evidence at Trump Mar-a-Lago raid; judge postpones trial indefinitely
BLAZETV STAFF
MAY 09, 2024
It doesn’t matter whether you hate or love Donald Trump. What’s being done to the former president by our government should disturb every single American.
Reports have revealed that FBI agents placed “cover sheets” onto allegedly classified documents found during its raid of Mar-a-Lago in order to make the photo they took of the documents far scarier.
The cover sheets indicated the highest levels of secrecy — and without question, the media then fell right in line and used the doctored evidence to slam Trump.
“This is never done,” Glenn Beck says, shocked.
Now, the federal judge presiding over Trump’s classified documents trial has delayed the trial indefinitely.
“They have postponed the document trial because they’ve said, ‘There are too many things here that don’t add up, there are too many things the FBI did that they never did nor should they have ever thought of doing,’” Glenn says, adding, “That is at best propaganda.”
Meanwhile, our envoy to Iran, Robert Malley, lost his top secret security clearance. According to whistleblowers, he allegedly transferred classified documents to his personal email account, downloaded the documents to his personal cell phone, and someone received them.
It’s now believed that a hostile cyber actor was able to gain access to those documents via his email and phone and obtained top secret information.
“These allegations have a substantial impact on our national security, and people should be held accountable, swiftly and strongly. But we’re not doing anything about him, we just downgraded his security clearance,” Glenn says.
“Are you kidding me? This guy is a spy for the Iranians. You’re trying Donald Trump, and you are using propaganda techniques to hype it up, and this guy, you won’t even tell the American people what we did,” he adds.

Dead Worm Found In RFK Jr.’s Brain Already Polling Higher Than Biden In 11 States
May 8, 2024 · BabylonBee.com
U.S. — Following the revelation that a deadly parasite was once removed from his skull, political experts were shocked to learn that the dead worm found in Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.'s brain was already polling higher than Joe Biden in 11 states.
The latest poll results indicated a large portion of the electorate had abandoned Biden in favor of the deceased parasite that had previously been lodged in RFK Jr.'s brain, leaving the White House scrambling to formulate a strategy to combat the dead worm.
"We weren't expecting to see numbers like these," said one high-ranking Biden campaign strategist under the condition of anonymity. "We considered the fact that Joe would struggle up against living competition, but seeing him fall behind a worm that isn't even alive is a huge red flag. We're really fighting an uphill battle here. And, from what I've heard, you never want to fight uphill."
A campaign team had already begun to coalesce around the dead brain worm, believing it to be the most viable candidate on the left to provide an alternative to Biden. "Brain Worm 2024!" shouted one excited campaign staffer. "Why risk another four years under a failed Biden administration when you can take a stand for a brighter, more prosperous future with a dead brain worm at the helm?"
At publishing time, rumors had begun swirling that the dead worm from RFK Jr.'s brain was in discussions to name the fly that landed on Mike Pence during a debate as its running mate.

Mistrial Bait – Stormy Daniels Testifies Again Thursday
The big question that no one is asking.
by Liberty Nation Authors | May 9, 2024
Adult film actress turned TV host Stormy Daniels will take the stand today, May 9, to once again testify against former President Donald Trump. It’s her second day on the stand as the star witness for Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s case against Mr. Trump. Bragg adopted a novel legal theory and prosecuted the former president for improperly misclassifying a payment to Ms. Daniels. The actress’s first day on the stand was a series of hints and allegations that dropped like bolts from the blue.
But what is the legal purpose of bringing forward a witness who does not know about the subsequent paperwork filings? And is her appearance a symptom of a greater malaise in the case against Donald Trump? We spoke with Liberty Nation Legal Affairs Editor Scott D. Cosenza, Esq., to find out just what games are being played in the most high-profile case of the year.
The Stormy Daniels Surprise
Mark Angelides: Scott, let’s start with the question everyone seems to ignore. Why is Stormy Daniels even testifying? What possible knowledge could she have of how her “hush money” payment – which no one denies she was paid – was processed and recorded?
Scott D. Cosenza: There is no dispute that they (Trump and Daniels) entered a confidentiality agreement. Typical big-box reporting notwithstanding, the so-called “hush-money” agreement broke no laws and is not disputed. I’m reminded of the breathless stories about Kyle Rittenhouse crossing state lines as if that were illegal. Why bring Daniels to court, indeed? It depends on the goal.
Mark: Ms. Daniels’ testimony was inflammatory, to say the least, dropping hints about Trump drugging her. These accusations have never been made before; was this even admissible?
Scott: Well, it wasn’t a direct accusation. Still, it’s a textbook case of testimony that would generally be regarded as inadmissible as prejudicial. Because cameras and audio recordings are not allowed in the courtroom, we are relying on press members present who quoted her saying she “felt drugged.” Later, she said she “blacked out” after sex with Trump and “was staring at the ceiling and didn’t know how I got there.” The clear implication is that Mr. Trump somehow acted upon Daniels without consent. Reports say judge Merchan allowed the testimony.
Mark: Wasn’t Harvey Weinstein’s conviction just overturned for this exact thing?
Scott: Weinstein was granted a new trial because several women were allowed to testify that he sexually assaulted them, even though he was never charged with those crimes. So, the testimony here is not directly analogous – but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a lesson for Merchan from the Weinstein ruling. Alan Dershowitz, the famed lawyer and law professor, called what happened in Merchan’s courtroom a “clear reversible error” based on the opinion in the Weinstein case. He said Bragg followed a roadmap of what you cannot do in court.
Damage Done?
Mark: Is there any recourse for Donald Trump to fight back against the allegations? Or is the damage already done?
Scott: The political damage may be difficult or impossible to fight against. On the legal side, our system generally provides appeals only after a conviction.
Mark: This seems to me – as a layman – to be a highly unorthodox way of prosecuting a case. Rather than bringing in witnesses and evidence to support the crimes you are charging, instead, bring in witnesses to assassinate the defendant’s character. Or have I misdiagnosed Mr. Bragg’s intent?
Scott: Mr. Bragg’s novel charges and the prosecutorial pathways he’s pursuing seem less like a search for truth or an attempt to deliver justice with each passing day. Instead, they appear more to be a political attack against Trump. Seen through this lens, bringing Daniels to court to talk about her alleged liaison with Donald Trump is a no-brainer. It puts an unflattering story about Donald Trump on the front page of the nation’s papers.
Mark: What can we expect from Ms. Daniels as her testimony continues?
Scott: Today, she will be facing Donald Trump’s lawyers in a cross-examination. They will do their best to impeach her testimony on direct examination, including by attacking her veracity and character. After her previous day of testimony, when the defense team requested a mistrial, although he denied it, Judge Mechan conceded that “there were some things that should have been left unsaid.” Perhaps today, her testimony will convince the judge that he should grant the mistrial motion after all.

Biden Treasury is Vaporizing Billions in Potential Hydrogen Investments With 45V Rule
David Blackmon
May 09, 2024
In May of last year, I wrote about how U.S. Treasury Department’s then-proposed rules for the hydrogen production tax credit (Internal Revenue Code Section 45V) could impact the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) power-plant rules.
While low greenhouse-gas (GHG) hydrogen was listed as a key technology to decarbonize power-related emissions at the time, EPA reversed course this year, removing the technology from its final rule released late last month.
Here’s how the Houston Chronicle put it: “And in a blow to clean hydrogen developers in Texas and beyond, the EPA dropped language encouraging power companies to burn hydrogen fuel at gas plants after pushback from power companies.”
The reason for the pullback is obvious. The activist-driven draft rules that Treasury published in December make it extremely difficult and costly to qualify for the credit, which means hydrogen will not be produced at the volumes necessary to supply the need. Green hydrogen producers are required to source their power from new zero-emission sources and match their hydrogen production to the carbon-intensity of the grid on an hourly basis.
Meanwhile, so-called “blue” hydrogen producers must use a national average to estimate upstream emissions, meaning there’s no incentive to use the cleanest natural gas to produce hydrogen. Both are policies that will result in the same outcome: less clean hydrogen on the market and higher costs, all of which was completely foreseeable last May.
It is notable now that individual companies are speaking up and warning about cancelling planned investments. Last year it was all speculative, and activists dismissed industry warnings as just fearmongering. Well, now companies are clearly not playing around.
Here are some examples of just a few big hydrogen investments that could be paused or cut entirely as a result of the unworkable rules:
Mark Klewpatinond, global business manager for hydrogen at Exxon Mobil, told the Houston Chronicle: “If we’re not able to differentiate natural gas production, it’s highly unlikely Baytown would proceed. It needs to compete for capital against other projects we have.”
Kathleen Barrón, executive vice president and chief strategy officer for Constellation, told the BloombergNEF Summit held in New York City in mid-April that her company, which is already producing hydrogen using electricity from one of its nuclear power plants, will file for the 45V production tax credit despite the fact that the project does not meet the draft criteria. Barron said Constellation was prepared to “visit with the courts to sort out whether the final guidance is consistent with the statute.”
Axios reported on May 6 that metals giant Fortescue’s CEO Andrew Forrest says the company will cancel its own major investments in hydrogen unless significant changes to the Section 45V credit regulations are made. “Projects we have across North America will stop” without such changes being implemented, Forrest said.
Fortescue’s array of hydrogen-related investments in the United States include a federally subsidized plant in Washington state, another plant in Arizona and a car manufacturing site in Michigan. All are now in jeopardy.
These announcements by major companies seeking to commit billions to new hydrogen-related projects if the rules make sense fly in the face of a claim by left-wing activist group Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) that industry complaints that the regulations as written “will hinder industry growth consistently flout on the ground evidence and are contrary to the best analytical findings.”
Regardless of what “analytical findings” NRDC was relying on, the evidence on the ground as of today is clear: The Treasury interpretation as it currently exists will kill billions of dollars in job-creating investments in the United States, exactly as so many warned a year ago.
In an article published on its website last year, NRDC asserted there is “no tradeoff between scaling up the industry and safeguarding against emissions increases,” and that projects “can be cost-competitive from day one” under the rules they supported (and which Treasury adopted). But obviously, such a tradeoff does exist and the companies willing to risk billions of dollars on U.S. hydrogen development are not going to move ahead with such investments under a set of regulations that renders their projects non-profitable.
Corporations exist for one reason: To generate profits for their investors. They are not charitable organizations and no amount of high-minded rhetoric and wishful thinking from the climate-alarm lobby can alter that reality.

‘Princeton Princess’ whines that she’s ‘starving,’ blames university after choosing to go on anti-Israel hunger strike
By Isabel Keane Published May 9, 2024 Updated May 9, 2024, 11:00 a.m. ET
(Send them to Gaza. FWIW, the moronic tub o'lard looks like she could live off her fat reserves for at least two weeks... or more.)
A student-led hunger strike began on Princeton’s campus on Friday.
X / @CollinRugg
An anti-Israel protester at Princeton University sounded off about how she was “starving” during her self-imposed hunger strike and accused the prestigious university of purposefully “physically weakening” students.
Video shows the woman and other female protesters railing into a megaphone about the New Jersey Ivy League school’s refusal to divest from Israel following Hamas’ unprovoked attack on the Jewish state on Oct. 7.
“This is absolutely unfair. My peers and I, we are starving. We are physically exhausted. I am quite literally shaking right now as you can see,” the protester says into the megaphone in a widely shared video on X.
A student-led hunger strike began Friday, with protesters demanding the school meet with them to discuss divestment and drop the criminal and disciplinary charges against two students who were arrested for erecting tents and 13 other peers who were arrested for trespassing an academic hall last month, Princeton’s student newspaper, the Daily Princetonian, reported Monday.
After meeting with administrators on Monday, students indicated that they have no intention of halting their protest, which has left them “immunocompromised,” according to the female protester whose rally cry has gone viral online.
“We are both hot and cold at the same time. We are all immunocompromised and based on the university’s meeting yesterday with some of our bargaining team, they would love to continue physically weakening us because they can’t stand to say no to unjust murder,” she said to cheers and banging of drums.
Despite the complaints, the woman in the video concedes that going on a hunger strike was her choice.
“I will say I truly do not feel like I am doing anything special. This is my choice, and I would not spend my birthday doing anything other than being here,” she said.
“No matter how physically weak we may be, united we have never been stronger,” she added as the crowd began to chant, “The people united will never be defeated!”
According to the student newspaper, at least 15 students were taking part in the hunger strike Sunday night.
It was not immediately clear how that number may have changed throughout the week.
School president Christopher Eisgruber, graduate school dean Rodney Priestley and Amaney Jamal, dean of the School of Public and International Affairs, told students in an email Tuesday that administrators were working with the protesters.
“My colleagues and I are now in direct conversation with the protestors,” he wrote. “I have told them that we can consider their concerns through appropriate processes that respect the interests of multiple parties and viewpoints, but we cannot allow any group to circumvent those processes or exert special leverage.”
