The Bad Faith Olympics
“This is the weirdest era in human history. By far. Nothing else even comes close. Billionaires trying to kill everyone. Civil society unable to form a coherent thought. Institutions lie in smoldering ruins. Poisons handed out like candy. We are Neanderthals with iPhones.” — Dr. Toby Rogers
Did it warm your heart to see all those blue and yellow Ukrainian flags waved by our elected officials in Congress Saturday night with the passage of the $60-plus-billion aid bill to the Palookaville of Europe? You realize, don’t you, that the tiny fraction of that hypothetical “money” — from our country’s empty treasury — that ever reaches Ukraine will rebound on the instant into Mr. Zelensky’s Cayman Islands bank account. The rest of the dough enters the recursive shell-game between US weapons-makers and the very hometown folks in Congress waving those blue and yellow flags, who will receive great greasy gobs of fresh “campaign donations” from the grateful bomb and missile producers. No wonder they’re cheering.
What the $60-plus-billion won’t do is provide any fresh arms and equipment to Ukraine’s sad-sack army soon enough to prevent Russia from bringing this cruel, stupid, and unnecessary war, which we started, to a close. Yes, we started it, not Russia, in 2014 with our Intel blob overthrowing elected President Viktor Yanukovych in the so-called “Maidan Revolution of Dignity” (what Wikipedia calls it). And for what reason? To jam Ukraine into NATO as a prelude to “weakening” Russia sufficient to bust it up and gain control over Russian oil, ores, and grain.
Yes, that was actually the neocon’s game, equal parts megalomania and hubris, a fiasco as strategically ill-fated as Hitler’s push to gain control of Russia’s oil fields via Stalingrad in 1942-3. With failure and humiliation looming in Ukraine, the blob’s objective for now, in theory, is the vain hope of prolonging the hostilities just long enough to get its hologram president, “Joe Biden” re-elected, so that said blob can continue its amoebic digestion of what’s left uneaten by it in our sore-beset republic. You’ve got to wonder, of course, what this blob thinks will remain to rule over when it’s done gobbling up everything and jailing everyone from sea to shining sea who objects.
You tell me what conceivable way Ukraine can prevail in this proxy war now without just tripping off the civilization-ending nuke exchange? America does not have enough tactical missiles and artillery shells at hand to send over there. What we did have is gone. NATO never had much to begin with. Ukraine has run out of available cannon-fodder to conscript from its dwindling population. Despite Mr. Macron’s recent bluster, NATO can’t raise a credible army, or even agree on which country would send what. Nobody is riding to the rescue. Instead, Russia is fortifying its home-grown armaments industry and its military while systematically turning off the electricity all over Ukraine by blowing up the power stations. Very soon, Ukraine will be reduced to medieval living conditions — no lights, no phones, no Internet, no shopping, no ability to conduct modern warfare. End. . . of. . . story.
This is apt to play out much faster than America’s blob-controlled news media will be able to lie about. I’d guess it can be functionally over before mid-summer. The result will be yet another humiliation on the “Joe Biden” scorecard. When it’s over, you can be sure the Russians will abstain from an end-zone dance so as not to provoke America’s genius-losers into some final petty grand act of requital. Russia will just soberly declare what is self-evident: that for centuries Ukraine has been in its sphere-of-influence, as Mexico is in ours, and that they have reestablished the natural order of things in that corner of the world.
After that, America and the rest of Western Civ can get on with the collapse of their financial system and very likely a period of profound political and economic chaos in which governments fall, nations change boundaries and shapes, and their populations suffer dramatically from an imploded standard of living. That process may actually play out somewhat slower than the end of the Ukraine war over the coming years. It will look like a combined game of musical chairs and hot potato, with the opportunities to get a seat steadily fading, and the losers left holding things they can’t handle.
In the meantime, our country — remember it, the USA, when it had its once-enviable mojo working? — is busy being insane and finding sixty ways to Sunday to commit suicide. How do you suppose the Democratic Party will actually pretend to put up “Joe Biden” for re-election when the Ukraine failure is completed? Answer: they can’t. This dumbshow of the old gaffer hiding at his beach house and avoiding direct engagement with reality is also drawing to a close. Instead of calling “a lid” on “JB’s” activities, some humid morning in the swamp his handlers will call in “a medical alert” instead, and that will be the last we see of that dreadful apparition.
It’s also looking more and more as though the Republican Party faces its own civil war, especially after Speaker Mike Johnson’s perplexing flipperooski on the Ukraine aid vote. You recall, just weeks ago he said no dice to such a deal without a stop to the invasion coming across our Mexican border. Then, the intel blob boys lured him into a SCIF (Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility) where they showed him . . . something. . . ! Everyone’s dying to know what. A secret signed agreement making Ukraine our 51st State? Photographs of Mike engaged in unwholesome recreations with Gawd knows who or what? Or did they just have a little talk with him about how stuff is supposed to work? Whatever it was has made Mike Johnson untenable in his position. And he has explained nothing. He’s got to go.
At the other end of all that stands — or, rather, sits at a defense table — Donald Trump, the seemingly inevitable leader of a party seeking to cough him up like a hairball stuck in its craw. And yet, every week that passes, the various lawfare traps set up to snare him look more amateurish and gauche — while the Golden Golem of Greatness somehow manages to power through all that adversity. A big faction of the party he leads is in on that nefarious game. The wild card is the increasingly inflamed mood of the American people, in whose name the game is supposedly being played. With absolutely everyone lying to them about everything, it’s turned into some kind of bad faith olympics.

Patriots owner Robert Kraft pulls support from Columbia after anti-Israel protests: ‘No longer an institution I recognize’
By Ronny Reyes Published April 22, 2024, 1:16 p.m. ET
(Good for him. I hope other big bucks donors will pull their support from Columbia and all other big name schools that turn a blind eye to this vile wave of antisemitism.
While they're at it, I'd give them bonus points for going after woke DEI.)
New England Patriots team owner Robert Kraft announced Monday that he was pulling his support from Columbia University over the ongoing anti-Israel protest at the Manhattan campus.
“It was through the full academic scholarship Columbia gave me that I was able to attend college and get my start in life and for that I have been tremendously grateful,” Kraft said in a statement. “However, the school I love so much – the one that welcomed me and provided me with so much opportunity – is no longer an institution I recognize.”
“I am deeply saddened at the virulent hate that continues to grow on campus and throughout our country,” Kraft added. “I am no longer confident that Columbia can protect its students and staff and I am not comfortable supporting the university until corrective action is taken.
“It is my hope that Columbia and its leadership will stand up to this hate by ending these protests immediately and will work to earn back the respect and trust of many of us who have lost faith in the institution,” he continued.
“It is my hope that in this difficult time, the Kraft Center at Columbia will serve as a source of security and safety for all Jewish students and faculty on campus who want to gather peacefully to practice their religions, to be together and to be welcomed.”
Kraft, who is worth $11.1 billion, has been a prolific donor to the university and funded the Kraft Center for Jewish Student Life across from Columbia’s campus.
The center was kickstarted with a $11.5 million donation in 2000, with the billionaire donating another $1.5 million in 2005.
Two years later, The Kraft Group pledged another $5 million in support of Columbia’s athletics program, which led to the naming of the Robert K. Kraft Field at the Baker Field Athletics Complex.
The 82-year-old Massachusetts native has ramped up efforts to fight antisemtism following the Oct. 7 massacre in Israel, with his Foundation to Combat AntiSemitism running a 30-second ad during the Super Bowl as part of his “Stand Up to Jewish Hate” campaign.
Kraft has also committed $25 million to raise awareness about rising antisemitism, according to The Wall Street Journal.
He has previously donated millions of dollars to causes in Israel, including the funding of sports complexes and other philanthropic endeavors.
Kraft made his announcement following the high profile protest taking place at Columbia University where hundreds have gathered to demand an end to the war in Gaza.
The demonstrations, however, have included ugly episodes where protesters could be heard shouting antisemitic, anti-Israel and pro-Hamas chants.
What to know about the antisemitism controversy at Columbia University:
• Columbia University president Minouche Shafik was accused of “gross negligence” while testifying before the House Education and Workforce Committee about antisemitic incidents at the school and pro-Palestinian indoctrination. Shafik defended the school’s response after Oct. 7, but refused to tell lawmakers at the hearing if the phrase “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” is antisemitic.
• A report from the Ivy League school’s Task Force on Antisemitism found “repeated violations by student groups” at Columbia after the Oct. 7 Hamas terror attacks in Israel.
• Ahead of the hearing, Jewish students told The Post that they have been targeted and witnessed antisemitism at the Morningside Heights campus. The Columbia University Jewish Alumni Association told The Post that the college’s administrators must “do their job” in reining in unauthorized student protests.
• Shortly after the Oct. 7 attacks, more than 100 Columbia professors signed a letter defending students who support the “military action” by Hamas.
• In February, an antisemitic poster depicting Israel as a skunk appeared on campus — which experts liken to a propaganda poster used by the Nazis in World War II.
• An unsanctioned “Resistance 101” event was held on campus in March by a Palestinian activist with alleged ties to a group labeled a terror organization by the US. Four students who participated were later suspended by Columbia.
• While the congressional hearing was in progress, Columbia students erected 60 tents on campus to demand that the university divest from Israel. One of the leaders of the protests, Ilhan Omar’s daughter, Isra Hirsi, was suspended from Barnard College — a women’s college affiliated with Columbia.
• Shocking video footage captured a protester near the university declare, “We’re all Hamas” and “Long live Hamas” Wednesday. Another protester was arrested Wednesday night for repeatedly hitting and scratching an NYPD cop, according to law enforcement officials.
• On Thursday, more than 100 other protesters were arrested after Shafik announced the campus’s closure.
• Columbia canceled in-person classes on April 22 as the protests continued. Israeli-born professor Shai Davidai was barred from campus after he attempted to lead a pro-Jewish rally.
• Every New York House GOP lawmaker demanded that Shafik resign immediately for failing to crack down on the “large unauthorized antisemitic riot” on campus. Columbia University’s Jewish Alumni Association also called for Shafik’s resignation.

JUST IN: Alvin Bragg’s Prosecutors Lie About 2016 Election in Opening Statement to Jurors
by Cristina Laila Apr. 22, 2024 11:00 am
Opening statements were underway in President Trump’s ‘hush payment’ trial in New York City on Monday morning.
Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg’s top prosecutor lied during his opening statement and claimed Trump “orchestrated a criminal scheme to corrupt the 2016 presidential election” when he paid porn star Stormy Daniels to keep quiet about their alleged affair.
Trump has denied the affair.
Bragg’s top prosecutor who gave the opening statement on Monday – Matthew Colangelo – previously worked in the Justice Department (Biden appointee) and is a lifelong left-wing activist.
“The defendant, Donald Trump, orchestrated a criminal scheme to corrupt the 2016 presidential election. Then he covered up that criminal conspiracy by lying in his New York business records over and over and over again,” prosecutor Matthew Colangelo – a former top Biden DOJ appointee – told jurors, according to AP.
Alvin Bragg indicted Trump last April on 34 felony counts related to ‘hush payments’ he made to Stormy Daniels.
Trump was accused of paying porn star Stormy Daniels, AKA, Stephanie Clifford, ‘hush payments’ through his then-attorney Michael Cohen in a scheme to silence her and stop the story about their alleged affair from being published in the National Enquirer.
The payments made to Stormy Daniels did NOT come from Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign.
The payments were made through internal business records – there was no tax deduction taken and there was no obligation to file it with the FEC, according to Trump attorney Joe Tacopina.
Alvin Bragg didn’t explain what exactly he wanted to convict Trump of in the charging documents.
Bragg told reporters he doesn’t have to tell anyone what the underlying felony is.
This is a glaring example of a two-tiered justice system.
Recall that the FEC in 2022 fined Hillary Clinton and the DNC $113,000 for lying about funding the fake Russia dossier.
The FEC fined Clinton and said her campaign violated the rules because they failed to disclose payments funneled to Fusion GPS through DNC law firm Perkins Coie.
Hillary Clinton got a light slap on the wrist for her crimes while Trump is on trial in New York City.
But President Donald Trump sits in court and is abused and slandered by the prosecutors and presiding judge, a far left Trump-hater.
Democrats are destroying our justice system like everything else they touch before our eyes.

Hollywood Devastated by Massive Woke Loss – Top Studio Finally Closes Down for Good
April 21, 2024 Eric Beaton
Hollywood was an iconic part of American culture for generations. People looked to the home of legends and heroes as a wondrous escape from day-to-day living.
This was all before Hollywood turned its nose up at the people who supported this fantasy land. Woke actors and directors decided they needed to tell America how to live instead of providing universally accepted productions.
Wokeness took over Hollywood, and the downfall of movieland began. Hollywood’s misfortune continued this week with the failure of one of the most prolific studios that funded leftist-leaning productions.
From Breitbart:
Left-wing billionaire Jeff Skoll’s woke film studio Participant is reportedly shutting down operations and eliminating most of its staff — the latest victim of Hollywood’s sharp downturn that has seen a bloodbath of layoffs and budget cuts.
Participant, founded in 2004, often financed projects with social justice and globalist themes, including former Vice President Al Gore’s climate change documentary An Inconvenient Truth and its sequel. Other titles include the Obama’s Netflix documentary American Factory and the Ruth Bader Ginsburg doc RBG.
Skoll delivered the bad news to the studio’s staff of about 100 people on Tuesday. Most were set to lose their jobs with no new content development or production. A skeleton crew was set to remain to handle the studio’s library of more than 130 titles.
Participant was caught up in the industry revolution that changed the way content is “distributed and consumed,” according to a memo credited to Skoll. This tectonic shift sent movie productions straight to streaming services versus the past pathway to consumers that depended heavily on distribution through movie theaters. Specialty titles, like many from Participant, couldn’t leverage word-of-mouth support from consumers that helped create buzz during awards season.
Despite bankrolling two best-picture Oscar winners — Green Book and Spotlight – Participant couldn’t avoid the flip side of success as if suffered high-profile box office flops. These included the environmentally themed Dark Waters, starring Mark Ruffalo, and the Matt Damon thriller Stillwater.
Hollywood continues to reel from the shift in consumer preferences where Americans have walked away from theaters and cable television. Hollywood has suffered deep financial cuts as Americans continue to cancel their cable TV subscriptions, TV advertising dwindles further, and streaming losses push into the billions of dollars.
Writers and actors in Hollywood contributed to the downturn of the industry after going on strike last year. This decay from the inside also contributed to big studios such as Walt Disney Company, Paramount, Warner Bros. Discovery, and Amazon MGM slashing their employee numbers.
For those who miss the glamour days of the silver screen, the tears of Hollywood moguls watching their woke empire collapse delivers a fitting ending to a sad story of betrayal against the American consumer.

BREAKING: Judge Smacks Down Letitia James, Rules in Favor of Trump in Fight Over $175 Million Bond
by Cristina Laila Apr. 22, 2024 12:40 pm
A judge on Monday smacked down Marxist tyrant Letitia James and ruled in favor of Trump in a fight over a $175 million bond.
On Friday, Letitia James asked a judge to void Trump’s $175 million bond that he posted to appeal the civil fraud case
Letitia James argued that California-based Knight Specialty Insurance Company (KSIC) is not approved to do business in New York.
James also questioned whether KSIC has the funds to back up the $175 million bond Trump previously posted.
“Based on KSIC’s policyholder surplus in its most recent annual financial statement of $138,441,671, the limitation of loss on any one risk that KSIC is permitted to write is $13.8 million,” Letitia James’ office wrote in a 26-page filing according to Fox News. “The face amount of the bond exceeds this limitation by $161.2 million.”
James also argued in her filing: “KSIC is not qualified to act as the surety under this standard because its management has been found by federal authorities to have operated affiliated companies within KSIC’s holding company structure in violation of federal law on multiple occasions within the past several years.”
“KSIC does not now have an exclusive right to control the account and will not obtain such control unless and until it exercises a right to do so on two days’ notice,” James’ office wrote in the filing.
Letitia James asked the judge to void Trump’s bond and require him to post another bond within 7 days of the court’s decision.
The judge ruled against Letitia James on Monday and said Trump’s $175 million bond can stand.
Fox News: Court rules Trump $175 million bond stands pic.twitter.com/se9KBxVP9d
— The Post Millennial (@TPostMillennial) April 22, 2024
Fox News reported:
Former President Trump’s $175 million bond judgment stemming from his non-jury civil trial will stand, a New York judge ruled Monday after New York Attorney General Letitia James attempted to invalidate it.
Lawyers for James on Monday argued that the court should void Trump’s slashed judgment of $175 million in his non-jury civil fraud trial. James questioned whether the company that posted the massive bond, Knight Specialty Insurance, could actually pay the bond if needed.
The court, though, ruled against James, deciding that the bond will stand.
The court decided the $175 million needs to be in cash — not in mutual funds or securities where the value can fluctuate. The court said Knight Insurance cannot trade or move the money, but said they will retain control of the account.
The court also ruled that Knight Insurance must provide a monthly financial statement to James showing the $175 million in cash and decided that the agreement cannot change without approval from the court.

They say they’re the police, but are they really? What would you do?
By Molly Slag
Last Sunday afternoon’s neighborhood coffee klatch at the local Grange Hall took an unusual twist. After the usual introductory good fellowship chit-chat, Harvey, one of the old-timers in the neighborhood, seized the center of the conversational chessboard with a serious and sobering question.
“I have been thinking about this puzzle for some time,” said Harvey, “and I can’t see clearly what the solution should be.”
We knew Harvey and his wife as salt-of-the-earth kind of people, so we sipped our coffee and paid close attention as he continued.
“Suppose that I am awakened at three o’clock in the morning by the loud bang of my front door being kicked open followed by voices shouting ‘Police! Everyone come out with your hands up!’
“There is no reason I can imagine why the police would burst through my front door. But were that to happen, what do I do? If they really are the police, I should, of course, cooperate. But if they are not the police (and I know this has happened), then my wife, children, and grandchildren are in harm’s way. So, should I meekly submit? Or should I snatch my spotlight and .357 off my best post and confront them, perhaps with the demand that they wait outside on the porch while I call 911?”
“An interesting scenario,” commented Francesca, the Grange manager, worker bee, and go-to person, “and if you confronted them with your spotlight and .357, and it turned out they really were police, you might then be really in deep do-do.”
“Amen, sister!” replied the others at the table. “It’s a serious concern,” added Telly, “because at the moment you are awakened, your only options are submit or confront without knowing the identity of your antagonists.”
Harvey started to enlarge, but Wally cut him off, injecting, “But Harvey, did you really just imagine this, or have you been reading about Dexter Reed?”
“Dexter who?” asked Harvey. “Who’s he, and what about him?”
“Well,” offered Wally, “It seems that at 6 p.m. last March 21st, this Reed fellow was sitting in his car on a street in some Chicago suburb when suddenly five plain-clothed police officers in a tactical vehicle surrounded his car.”
Wally added, “The police say it was a traffic stop because Reed wasn’t wearing a seat belt.”
“Is that supposed to be a joke, or does it just sound funny?” asked Harvey.
Harvey sipped his coffee and looked around the table. “Sounds to me like Dexter Reed had my 3 a.m. problem at 6 p.m. on a city street.”
Marcella, a teenager who had just joined the klatch, asked, “Suppose you were in your car stopped at a light, and suddenly five people surrounded your car and demanded you roll down windows and unlock your doors?”
Her question described what one sees in a CNN report entitled, “What the Videos show.” It illustrates Reed’s dilemma. While seated in his car, a person in a ball cap and hoodie approaches Reed’s vehicle with gun drawn and pointed at Reed. The caption on the photo reads, “A Chicago police officer gives Dexter Reed several commands before gunfire breaks out.”
“Hmm,” Wally wondered aloud. “What are these guys doing out of uniform pointing guns at people. If I had been Reed in that photo I would have assumed it was a hold up.”
Harvey looked at the assembly and summed things up. So, the question for all of us is, “What should we do at 3 a.m. when we hear that banging on the door and, perhaps, the sound of the door being broken? From my point of view, if I do not challenge the intruders, then my wife, children, and grandchildren are at risk from criminals. If I do challenge them and they turn out to be police, then I am at risk for having resisted arrest and, perhaps, even harmed an officer of the law.”
We nodded solemnly, recognizing something we often think about and that keeps us up at night.

Biden Claims His Uncle's Heart Was Ripped Out During Human Sacrifice Ritual In India
WASHINGTON, D.C. — At a recent press conference, President Joe Biden recounted a harrowing tale from his family's past: the time when his uncle had his heart ripped out and was sacrificed during a mysterious ritual in India.
Biden somberly recounted the gruesome events, describing how his uncle had been lured into a dark temple deep in the jungles of India. With a furrowed brow and a trembling voice, Biden detailed the scene.
"There he was, my uncle, standing before a group of chanting priests with strange, twisted faces," Biden recounted, his eyes misting over with emotion. "And then, in an instant, they reached into his chest and pulled out his beating heart."
As gasps filled the room, Biden continued his gruesome tale, describing how the next thing he knew, his uncle was being lowered into a pit of molten lava, somehow screaming all the way down. His uncles' squadmates barely survived, Biden claimed, after narrowly escaping a collapsing rope bridge and also dodging a big round boulder.
"Seriously folks — not a joke!" Biden insisted, his hand placed solemnly over his heart. "And if you don't believe me, then I'm not a Professor of Archaeology."
At publishing time, Biden's face had become grim, his gaze piercing through the camera lens as he warned the press you never know what dangers lurk behind those ancient stone walls.

Taylor Swift course now offered at Harvard, other universities: Can’t wait to pay for these student loans
April 22, 2024
There’s no denying that Taylor Swift dominates pop culture, but the fact that her politics align with the left, which has a stranglehold on pop culture, helps explain why colleges and universities all across the nation are featuring classes on the singer — hell, even Harvard is offering a class dedicated to Swift.
And we wonder how an entire generation can be so uninformed. But make no mistake, the driving force is Taylor Swift’s politics, with the Trump-hating singer proving to be a great platform to further advance the prescribed left-wing narrative.
“We will learn how to study fan culture, celebrity culture, adolescence, adulthood and appropriation; how to think about white texts, Southern texts, transatlantic texts, and queer subtexts. We will learn how to think about illicit affairs, and hoaxes, champagne problems and incomplete closure,” reads the Harvard class listing.
The University of Tennessee class listing says: “In our semester-long study of Taylor Swift, we will explore fan culture, celebrity culture, girlhood, music industry ethics, marketing and promotional strategies, and social media theory, along with race, sexuality, and feminism.”
Swift did not endorse a presidential candidate in 2016 and took a lot of heat for it. After Donald Trump defeated Hillary Clinton, the left-leaning Guardian said of the disdain for his presidency, “But a notable voice has been missing from the chorus: that of Taylor Swift, the world’s biggest pop star. Her silence is striking, highlighting the parallels between the singer and the president: their adept use of social media to foster a diehard support base; their solipsism; their laser focus on the bottom line; their support among the ‘alt-right.’”
Prior to the election, NPR leaned hard on Swift to elicit the proper response: “So, this is happening: Some white supremacists have anointed Taylor Swift an ‘Aryan goddess,’ claiming that she secretly espouses far-right beliefs and is waiting for Donald Trump’s ascension to the presidency to make her true views known.”
Suffice it to say, Taylor Swift did not make the same mistake in 2020, as the pop diva was quick to get behind Joe Biden. And now she is held up before the nation for unchecked adulation, including being the subject of study at university.
Some Twitter response:

Supreme Court to hear arguments in Trump election interference case >
The Supreme Court will take up former President Donald Trump’s “absolute immunity” defense this week, and if he wins, the result could knock down many of the criminal charges he’s facing.
The case is groundbreaking. No former president has ever found himself in Mr. Trump’s situation or asserted the kind of protection from prosecution for acts taken while in office.
Mr. Trump has asked the justices to dismiss a federal indictment accusing him of a conspiracy to subvert the 2020 election. He faces another federal criminal case over his handling of classified documents, a Georgia case over the 2020 election and a New York case over hush money payments made before the 2016 election.
Experts said the cases dealing with his actions while in the White House could topple, should the justices accept his broad immunity argument.
“There could be quite a ripple effect,” said Ted Cooperstein, an appellate attorney representing defendants in the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol.
Even a narrow ruling, in which the justices kick the election interference case back to lower courts to decide what exactly constitutes an official act, could result in delays in reaching a trial, effectively pushing the issue beyond November’s election.
SEE ALSO: You’re on your own: Dems want to send Trump to prison without Secret Service protection
The case raises big questions about the presidency, its powers and its leeway for action.
Mr. Trump argues that a president must be free from fear of legal jeopardy for “official acts” in order to carry out the job. Worrying about a later prosecution could leave the world’s most powerful official constrained at times requiring the most flexibility.
His lawyers told the Supreme Court the only exception to absolute immunity is when the House impeaches and the Senate convicts and removes a president.
Short of that, allowing laws written by Congress and judged by the courts to constrain the president, as co-equal branches of government, would upend the Constitution’s balance of power, Mr. Trump’s lawyers said.
“The Founders viewed protecting the independence of the Presidency as well worth the risk that some Presidents might evade punishment in marginal cases,” Mr. Trump’s lawyers argued in their legal filings.
Special counsel Jack Smith, who is leading the two federal cases against Mr. Trump, calls those claims “novel and sweeping.” He said a president must prove he was acting under a specific presidential power to claim immunity and Mr. Trump can’t point to any power he was exercising when he tried to upend the results of the 2020 election.
He said all previous presidents understood they could face criminal liability once out of office. Indeed, former President Richard Nixon accepted a pardon from his successor, President Gerald Ford.
“Nothing in constitutional text, history, precedent, or policy considerations supports the absolute immunity that petitioner seeks,” Mr. Smith told the justices in his filings.
Curt Levey, president of the Committee for Justice, said a ruling in favor of Mr. Trump could affect Mr. Smith’s document-handling case in a federal court in Florida and the election interference case in state court in Georgia.
But he said the New York hush money case is different. The action in question there took place when Mr. Trump was a candidate for the 2016 election.
“I think in the Florida and the Georgia cases you have a stronger argument they are official acts,” Mr. Levey said.

The losers will lose everything
By Robert Arvay
The only reason Clinton lost in 2016 was because the Left lied, cheated, stole, but not enough. In 2020, the limits came undone, and the left pulled off the greatest fraud in history.
They fully expect to do it again, but on an even grander scale.
Any political prediction for the remainder of 2024 must, to be taken seriously, account for one overbearing fact: neither side can afford to lose. For one side or the other, it will be game over. Political power will thereafter be denied forever to the defeated party.
For conservatives, the specter of another four years of radical leftism means another forty. Unprecedentedly massive, government-sponsored, illegal immigration will inevitably lead to a new, loyal and permanent, voting bloc, legal or otherwise. The entire purpose of government-funded illegal immigration is to bring about illegal voting for leftists. Not only that, but even after the election, the 2030 census will, if leftists prevail, bestow representation in Congress to people who break the law every day, just by being here, people who do not share our heritage or values, people who in many cases hate us. Those representatives will tend overwhelmingly to be leftists. They are supposed to represent you, but they will instead support those who are taking your job and siphoning off your tax dollars.
There are other factors that will spell the end of constitutional democracy, the end of the rule of law, and the bastardization of our culture but government-funded lawbreaking will be sufficient to do its intended job.
The other side of the coin is that the leftist nightmare already occurred in 2016, when Hillary Clinton unexpectedly lost her throne, and Donald Trump was elected president. The Left escaped its fate by immediately moving to cripple the Trump presidency, by endlessly undermining his every effort, and by carefully plotting never again to lose the White House. The Left learned its lesson. It is not enough to lie, cheat, and steal. The lies must be Josef Goebbels’ “big lie.” The cheating must be shameless, even when it is exposed. The stealing must be on a grand scale, leaving no mail-in ballot unblemished. The only reason Clinton lost in 2016 was because the Left lied, cheated, stole, but not enough. In 2020, the limits came undone, and the left pulled off the greatest fraud in history.
They fully expect to do it again, but on an even grander scale.
Only this time, even fraud will not be enough. If the leftist candidate officially “wins” in a historic landslide, nobody will believe it. The ordinary American, shocked into inaction since the January 6 incident, is in no mood to hand over his country to yet another blatant, obvious theft. State legislators are on notice. In order to certify their electors, there must be no reasonable doubt that the vote was conducted within the requirements of the law. The legislators now know, as many of them did not in 2020, that no one can require them to certify an elector until they have performed their due diligence. That power is theirs alone, not the secretaries of state.
But the Left is also aware of this. Their game plan will factor that in. Some Democrats in Congress have already stated, in advance, that they will refuse to count electoral votes which would cause their party to lose the presidency. They can’t surrender. A leftist defeat will be utterly unacceptable to them.
How, then, will the deadlock be broken?
In short, my prediction is that November 6, 2024, the morning after election day, will see the most serious constitutional crisis since 1861, the year in which the Civil War began. How that will shake out is unpredictable, except for one unavoidable reality: the losers will lose everything, and they already know it.

It's a shame how this country has devolved.
Back in my wonderfully misspent youth we protested on campus in favor of peace and love.
Now they protest in favor of hate.

‘Conspiracy Theories’ Aren’t Theoretical Anymore
By John Green
The national mood in the mid-twentieth century was very different from now.
The United States was respected around the world -- even if not necessarily liked.
Technology was advancing faster than at any time in human history.
Our cities were mostly orderly, safe, and clean.
We believed there were few hardships which couldn’t be overcome with hard work. Opportunities seemed endless, as was our optimism.
We were completely naïve about the danger posed by our own government.
Not everything was sunny. We had problems that needed attention. That is the nature of human existence after all. But when Ronald Reagan said, “Government is not the solution to our problem, government is the problem,” we just thought he was promoting self-reliance and highlighting government inefficiency. As I said, we were naïve.
Along with that naivete, was a belief that our government would never intentionally harm us. It might be incompetent, but we didn’t think it was malicious. Theories of vast government criminal conspiracies were considered delusional. Going to the police and claiming that President John F. Kennedy was assassinated by the CIA (as Robert Kennedy Jr. is suggesting), would have gotten one labeled a “conspiracy theory” nut; and more likely would trigger a psych evaluation than a criminal investigation. That was the American worldview before Barack Obama.
Things changed in 2016 when the conspiracies stopped being secret. Government operatives decided they could work with a political party to stop an outsider from playing in their sandbox -- by any means necessary. The FBI, CIA, DNC, and MSM created the Russian collusion hoax to undermine Donald Trump’s campaign -- but he won anyway.
Four years later, the same conspirators colluded to withhold critical information from the voters which likely would have changed the outcome of the election. Seventeen percent of Biden voters claim they would have voted differently had they known about the Hunter Biden laptop. This time the plan worked, and Trump was removed from the Oval Office. But he was still a threat.
When Trump announced his intent to run for office again, the DoJ in collusion with Democrat state and local prosecutors commenced a campaign of lawfare to scuttle Trump’s campaign. They twisted the law, and corrupted any notion of justice to indict Trump using legal theories which had never been tried before. They have identified their target, and are trashing our criminal justice system to get him -- and only him. Lavrentiy Beria would be proud.
Of course, the trials are being held in deep Blue Democrat party strongholds. Partisans in robes -- laughably calling themselves “judges” -- are ensuring that trials by Trump’s “peers” are actually trials by the Trump Derangement Syndrome-afflicted. Conviction seems inevitable.
To make sure the Trump problem is solved permanently, Democrat congressman Bennie Thompson has proposed a bill to strip Donald Trump of his Secret Service protection if he is convicted. Does anyone doubt Trump’s fate if placed in Attica or Sing Sing without his protective detail? Though the bill is unlikely to pass, it does reveal the Democrat mindset. They are perfectly willing to see a political adversary murdered -- so long as they maintain plausible deniability. But sure, Donald Trump is the real danger to our country.
Shockingly, the Democrats aren’t even trying to hide their intentions anymore. Apparently, they consider us too stupid or too powerless to stop them. That’s a rather sobering thought.
As we watch all this unfold, we know that vast government criminal conspiracies are no longer theoretical. There is nothing demented or delusional about believing our government would willingly facilitate the murder a political threat. The actions of the DoJ in conjunction with the legislation proposed by the Democrats makes that perfectly clear.
The plot to place Donald Trump at the tender mercies of a prison’s “genpop” is not the only evidence of government criminal conspiracy.
The ATF really did traffic guns to Mexican drug cartels to promote gun-control legislation. One federal agent and countless civilians were killed with those guns.
The DoJ sought to remove a duly elected President -- even to the point of the Deputy Attorney General offering to “wear a wire” to record conversations with the President (with cabinet support).
The FBI really did set up some useful idiots to advanced their domestic terrorist narrative (the Governor Gretchen Whitmer kidnapping). It was a classic entrapment scheme in which federal assets planned the crime, and hapless stooges stepped in the trap.
All this is changing our worldview and is causing us to observe our government with a new level of skepticism.
The deaths of Vince Foster, Seth Rich, and Jeffery Epstein were rather politically convenient for the Democrats. Were they something other than two random acts of violence and one suicide?
COVID was created using our tax dollars in a Chinese lab, and caused a pandemic which affected the 2020 election. Was it really an accident committed by well-intentioned, but careless scientists -- or something else? Certainly, the Democrats didn’t let that crisis go to waste. Many thousands died. Were they just the broken eggs needed to make the make the election omelet?
A Chinese spy balloon was allowed to cross our continent and collect information from our most sensitive facilities -- apparently with the blessing of the Biden administration. But we’re told that the millions of dollars flowing from China to the Biden family had nothing to do with the President’s decision to leave the reconnaissance craft unmolested.
Two whistleblowers (Gal Luft and Alexander Smirnov) have come forward with evidence of Joe Biden selling government influence to foreign nationals. Conveniently, both have been arrested by the same DoJ which is setting a death trap for President Trump.
Things have changed a lot since the mid-20th century. The children of the 21st century have a completely different worldview.
The United States is a corrupt and impotent international laughingstock.
We’ve become technically stunted. Replacing the Francis Scott Key bridge is expected to take three times longer than building the Golden Gate bridge almost a century ago.
Our cities are becoming unlivable post-apocalyptic hellscapes.
“Living the American dream” is no longer a middle-class expectation.
We know that fear of our own government is a prudent mindset.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. doesn’t sound so crazy now that the conspiracies are no longer theoretical.

How Do You Solve a Problem Like Mike Johnson?
By Brian C. Joondeph
The Sound of Music was an iconic movie for my generation. We watched it at movie theaters when made its yearly appearance, then eventually on television. If you missed it, you had to wait a year until it was rebroadcast as there was no video on demand as there is today.
It was a fun movie, featuring sing-a-long music, romance, mischief, and a realistic view of jackbooted Nazis destroying a beautiful country. There was no same sex marriage, no transgenders, no mention of global warming, diversity, wokeness, or any other message permeating current movies and television shows.
Naturally the media bristled, especially since the jackbooted thugs in the movie are now the modern Democrat party, in all three letter government agencies, harassing and imprisoning their political opponents.
The Daily Beast claimed, “Everyone hated The Sound of Music”, just as they claim that everyone hates Donald Trump, white men, Christians, heterosexuals, gun owners, patriots and the like, all of which are modern day Captain Von Trapp’s.
One popular song was “How do you solve a problem like Maria?” Fifty years later we have a new Maria, a “flibbertijibbet” House Speaker named Mike Johnson. And a problem he is. Can he be solved?
Johnson replaced Kevin McCarthy, who broke numerous promises to his caucus including the full release of January 6 videos, a proper budget process as opposed to “omnibus” bills that Congress had little or no time to review and bringing each spending bill to Congress for a separate vote.
McCarthy was replaced by a compromise choice of Mike Johnson. As The Who sang, “Meet the new boss, same as the old boss”, Speaker Johnson is the new boss, also pushing massive omnibus spending bills, not releasing all the January 6 entrapment evidence, supporting continued warrantless spying on Americans, and pushing endless aid to secure the borders of countries thousands of miles away from America while leaving America’s borders wide open.
He follows the pattern of past GOP Speakers – Boehner, Ryan, McCarthy, and now Johnson. It seems Republican voters continue to ask and vote for a medium rare steak only to be served a burnt, inedible slab of meat.
Ukraine aid.
At the time of this writing, 100 House Republicans, along with all Democrats, voted “Ukraine First”, leaving America Last. As Senator Rand Paul tweeted,
Ukrainian flags fly in the chamber of the UNITED STATES House of Representatives as they vote to send more of your hard-earned money to a corrupt foreign regime. And just like that they shout “UKRAINE! UKRAINE!” while happily working to secure Ukraine’s borders, not ours.
The bill also included billions for Israel and Taiwan while 78 percent of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck, and 300,000 known illegal migrants enter the U.S. each month.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he was “personally” grateful to “Speaker Mike Johnson for the decision that keeps history on the right track,” meaning, the deaths of tens of thousands more Ukrainian men.
Is the family of Laken Riley, brutally murdered by an illegal alien, “personally grateful” to Speaker Johnson for his tough stand on our open border?
So much for Congress representing the American people. Do Americans think borrowing money from China, since America is broke, and sending it 4,000 miles away is a good thing?
"This is the best possible product that we can get under these circumstances, to take care of these really important obligations," Johnson said Friday. Does he have any obligation to struggling Americans? Apparently not.
The Speaker is also a believer in white privilege and systemic change. What difference would it make if AOC or Maxine Waters took Johnson’s place as Speaker? Democrats are advancing their agenda with a Republican House Speaker. They want to keep Johnson right where he is.
Johnson is playing a dangerous game, defying much of his GOP caucus, “Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson, putting his job on the line, relied on Democratic support this week to set up a series of votes on three aid bills.”
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene wants to remove Speaker Johnson via a “motion to vacate.” She has some support within her caucus, but then what?
With a one-vote majority, the GOP is playing a dangerous game. If they remove Johnson, maybe he quits the House as did McCarthy and GOP Reps. Ken Buck and Mike Gallagher, leaving Democrats in charge.
Former President Trump muddied the waters with his support of Johnson, “Trump says he thinks Speaker Mike Johnson is ‘doing a very good job’ amid ouster threat from Marjorie Taylor Greene.”
I doubt this is some form of 5D chess from Trump, only the simple reality that if Johnson is ousted and Democrats take control of the House, the November election is over for Trump.
Remember the U.S. Supreme Court decision on “insurrection” claimed by the Colorado Supreme Court? The March 4 decision stated:
The Constitution empowers Congress to prescribe how those determinations should be made. The relevant provision is Section 5, which enables Congress, subject of course to judicial review, to pass “appropriate legislation” to “enforce” the Fourteenth Amendment.
In other words, Congress, by a simple majority, can pass a bill claiming that Trump is disqualified from election due to being an “insurrectionist.” That would be the first order of business by a Democrat-controlled House. The Senate would pass the House bill and President Biden would sign it.
If you don’t believe the Democrats would try to disqualify Trump in this manner, a bill is already teed up, introduced by Democrat Rep. Jamie Raskin.
Per Axios:
Raskin pointed to legislation he introduced with Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) in 2022 creating a pathway for the Justice Department to sue to keep candidates off the ballot under the 14th Amendment.
"We are going to revise it in light of the Supreme Court's decision," Raskin said.
Raskin suggested the bill would be paired with a resolution declaring Jan. 6 an "insurrection" and that those involved "engaged in insurrection."
The SCOTUS decision mentioned, “Subject of course to judicial review.” Would that stop such a scheme? Why would SCOTUS block such an act of Congress that they green-lighted in their recent decision?
This would explain Trump supporting Johnson. Does Rep. MTG realize how this could play out? Is she acting out of principle or is this a backhanded way of undermining Trump? This is where the 5D chess machinations come in. Washington D.C. is indeed a swamp.
While I would love to see a principled conservative America First Speaker of the House, and a similar GOP caucus, we got what we got, and some GOP members “cutting off their nose to spite their face” is not a good strategy.
Keep the House in GOP control with Johnson in charge and elect a new Speaker next year. Losing the House means losing Trump and any hope rescuing America from its rapid decline.
A Democrat Congress and White House would stack the Supreme Court and rewrite the Bill of Rights. The border will remain open with amnesty and voting rights for all illegals. Election laws will be changed, despite this being under states’ jurisdiction per the Constitution. That didn’t matter in 2020 so why would it matter in 2024?
How do we solve a problem like Speaker Johnson? Removing him now isn’t the answer as the alternative may be far worse.
As with Maria, “Many a thing you know you'd like to tell her. Many a thing she ought to understand.”
I’m sure Speaker Johnson understands. He is driving through treacherous mountains with no guardrails. Is he compromised as some in the Capitol are?
The nuns thought Maria “a clown.” Many think the same of the Speaker and many of his America-Last GOP caucus. So let the Congressional circus go on!

Monday's Energy Absurdity: Climate Change is Homophobic Now
David Blackmon
Apr 22, 2024
What better way to celebrate Earth Day than to roll out perhaps the ultimate example of academic researchers concocting a climate-related “study” for no reason other than to obtain a federal grant? In this one, the Los Angeles Blade reports on a study conducted at the Williams Institute at UCLA School of Law that purports to find that the all-knowing, all-seeing, all-causing, all-powerful boogeyman we like to call “climate change” is now a homophobe.
No, I’m not making that up: The headline atop this piece is, to paraphrase a line from a great Seinfeld episode, both real, and spectacular.
According to these geniuses at UCLA, it turns out that same-sex couples are not just equally susceptible to the vagaries of the climate boogeyman, but are in fact even more vulnerable to those vague, mysterious impacts.
No, really, that’s what it says. Here’s an excerpt from the story:
LOS ANGELES – A new report by the Williams Institute at UCLA School of Law finds that same-sex couples are at greater risk of experiencing the adverse effects of climate change compared to different-sex couples.
LGBTQ people in same-sex couple households disproportionately live in coastal areas and cities and areas with poorer infrastructure and less access to resources, making them more vulnerable to climate hazards.
Using U.S. Census data and climate risk assessment data from NASA and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), researchers conducted a geographic analysis to assess the climate risk impacting same-sex couples. NASA’s risk assessment focuses on changes to meteorological patterns, infrastructure and built environment, and the presence of at-risk populations. FEMA’s assessment focuses on changes in the occurrence of severe weather events, accounting for at-risk populations, the availability of services, and access to resources.
Results show counties with a higher proportion of same-sex couples are, on average, at increased risk from environmental, infrastructure, and social vulnerabilities due to climate change.
[End]
So, there you have it: In addition to being racist, as we wrote about here a few months back, and in addition to being the cause of every weather event so long as that weather even is a negative event that can be used to hype up public alarm, the climate boogeyman is now a homophobe to boot.
A joyous thanks go out to great energy writer and my podcasting partner Irina Slav for tipping me off to this glorious gem of a story.
You just cannot make this stuff up, folks, and why would anyone even want to try?
That is all.

Boo Hoo: Ilhan Omar’s daughter, Isra Hirsi, says she’s homeless, cries poverty after suspension from $90K-per-year college over anti-Israel protests

If this is the face she has when she turns 25, I dread the face she'll earn by the time she's 50.)

Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar’s daughter, Isra Hirsi, has revealed that she has nowhere to live and nothing to eat after she was suspended for taking part in a disruptive anti-Israel protest at Columbia University last week.
The 21-year-old was among the more than 100 people arrested and summoned for trespassing by NYPD officers after the group of demonstrators set up a tent encampment on the Ivy League school’s campus to protest Israel’s war against Hamas terrorists.
Now, after being temporarily booted from the prestigious, $90K-per-year Barnard College, Hirsi said that she’s been evicted from campus housing and banned from using the dining hall.
“I was a little bit frantic, like, where am I going to sleep? Where am I gonna go? And also all of my s–t is thrown in a random lot. It’s pretty horrible,” she told Teen Vogue.
“I don’t know when I can go home, and I don’t know if I ever will be able to.”
Hirsi said that when she sought help from administration staff at Barnard, she heard crickets.
“I sent them an email like, ‘Hey, I rely on campus for my meals, I rely on my dining plan,’ and they were like, Oh, you can come pick up a prepackaged bag of food, a full 48 hours after I was suspended,” she said. “There was no food support, no nothing.”
Hirsi was hauled away in cuffs by the NYPD Thursday afternoon after the protesters erected a tent city on campus.
By late afternoon Thursday, the protests had dispersed, and cleaning crews were brought in to disassemble and remove dozens of tents that littered the campus.
“We had so many people who were born female in our group that they didn’t have enough space for us,” Hirsi told Teen Vogue of her arrest. “It was a very slow process in getting everybody into the cells.
“I was zip-tied for about seven hours and wasn’t released for about eight,” she added.
Hirsi also slammed Barnard’s president Laura Rosenbury.
“I think it’s really on a school-by-school basis, and Barnard has decided to take a very egregious stand against us,” Hirsi said.
She added that Rosenbury’s leadership “feel like there isn’t a big limelight on them right now and that they have the ability to do this, because [Columbia President Minouche] Shafik was on the congressional stage and is actively being harassed about what she’s doing.”
Hirsi’s mother has since spoken out about her daughter’s arrest, saying she is “enormously proud” of her taking a stand.

Weekend at Biden's: Democrats are using an infirm 81-year-old Joe Biden to defraud the electorate
By Miranda Devine Published April 21, 2024, 10:37 p.m. ET
There was a macabre familiarity to the sight last week of a dead man in Brazil being wheeled into a bank by a greedy relative to sign a loan document.
The woman is seen on social-media video talking to the corpse in the wheelchair while trying to hold up his floppy head with one hand.
In her other hand she clutches a pen lodged between the dead man’s fingers as she attempts to sign documents to secure a loan of $3,250.
“Uncle Paulo, are you listening?” the woman, named by CNN Brazil as Érika de Souza Vieira Nunes, tells the late Paulo Braga, 68. “Sign so you don’t give me any more headaches. I can’t take it anymore.”
Uncle Paolo does not respond. His eyes are closed. His mouth is agape.
“He doesn’t look well,” the bank teller says, in the understatement of the year. “He’s very pale.”
Rio De Janeiro police who arrested Nunes said Uncle Paulo, who was actually her cousin, had been dead for at least two hours. They charged her with fraud and abuse of a corpse.
Pander platform
Isn’t it a pity we can’t charge the Democratic Party with the same offenses? After all, the barbaric treatment of Uncle Paolo in Brazil is a metaphor for how Democrats are using an infirm 81-year-old Joe Biden to defraud the electorate.
Those of us not in on the scam are the bank teller saying: “He doesn’t look well. Are you sure he’s OK?”
It’s as if the whole country is strapped in with the corpse in that wheelchair as it hurtles toward a cliff edge.
Most Americans agree that the “Weekend at Bernie’s” presidency has not turned out well.
It’s not just Biden’s sepulchral presentation, but his administration’s increasingly unpopular policies covering the economy, the border, foreign affairs and a raft of fringe social engineering projects, such as Friday’s rewriting of Title IX, which effectively abolishes the distinction between women and men.
The nation was not exactly crying out for this Orwellian policy, but it’s part of the curious tapestry of bespoke pandering that constitutes Biden’s re-election platform.
Pretending you’ve stopped inflation, pretending you need Congress to shut the border, pretending that your uncle was eaten by cannibals: these are not vote-winners for Biden.
Whether he’s walking “like a toothpick,” as Donald Trump describes the president’s stiff gait, falling over, garbling teleprompter scripts, or breaking into sudden angry yelling, in the normal political calculus, such a candidate should be heading for a car crash.
Even worse, the back-up plan is Kamala Harris, who doesn’t even have the benefit of the vapor trail of Honest Joe’s self-mythology that has fooled America for 50 years.
With Harris, what you see is what you get: a complete phony spouting condescending claptrap.
The polls reflect the Democrats’ problem.
You could sense their heads exploding as they watched NBC’s “Meet The Press” Sunday, where a new poll showed Trump smashing Biden by between four and 22 points on “Handling a crisis” (46% to 42%), “Strong record as president” (46% to 39%), “Dealing with inflation and cost of living” (52% to 30%) and “Necessary mental and physical health” (45% to 26%).
The ouchiest of all was Trump’s 9-point edge on Biden over who was “Competent and effective” (47% to 36%), a category where Biden had a 10-point edge over Trump in 2020.
There were more head explosions for the Dems over at CNN where voters in the battleground states of Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin viewed Trump more favorably than Biden by four points, 47% to 43%. In 2020 the situation was flipped, with Biden ahead 50% to 45%.
“Donald Trump is, in fact, better liked than he was four years ago — and is better liked than Joe Biden is right now,” declared CNN polling analyst Harry Enten. Double ouch.
As if to emphasize Biden’s disconnect from the voters, his campaign rolled him out three days in a row last week in Pennsylvania, the state pollsters say he cannot lose.
The motto was “Scranton v. Mar-a-Lago: Making the Wealthy Pay Their Fair Share,” as if Biden doesn’t live a billionaire’s lifestyle in a bespoke mansion he built on a lakefront estate in chateau country in one of the ritiziest parts of the country, and as if his son isn’t facing tax fraud charges in California over the family influence peddling operation.
The folksy “Working Class Joe” schtick appears to have worn thin, judging from the lackluster reception he received from regular folk when he made supposedly “unscheduled” campaign stops at eating establishments to pick up food.
The true purpose of these stilted interludes seems to be so the campaign videographer can obtain footage of the president interacting with real people. But you really don’t want to look too hard at how the sausage is made.
When he entered a Sheetz gas station mart in Pittsburgh, for instance, Biden never took off his trademark Aviators. Video footage shows him standing in front of a woman and a little girl, gawping at them wordlessly, before he moved through the store, not interacting with a soul until he reached the counter where the shop assistant was primed to ask for a selfie.
Biden posed, and then woodenly exited stage left. Reporters tried to call out questions: “Are you concerned the new steel tariffs will hurt your relationship with Xi Jinping?”
“No!” said Biden, pausing in the doorway before delivering his inexplicable and well-worn riposte: “Don’t jump!”
The comparison with Trump’s crowd-engagement charisma is inescapable.
Fan favorite
The former president was mobbed in Harlem last week when he took a post-courtroom opportunity to visit the bodega where Jose Alba fatally stabbed an ex-con in self-defense and then was unjustly charged with murder. Unlike Biden’s random campaign pit stops, there was a point to Trump’s visit.
He wanted to highlight the skewed priorities of an unjust justice system, which has been weaponized to neutralize him as Biden’s opponent.
At one point in Pittsburgh, a reporter pointed out the obvious to Biden: “When you drive around the area, you see a lot of Trump signs, not very many Biden signs. Do you feel like you’re in trouble here?”
That didn’t go down well with the president, who is only animated by anger.
“Well, you haven’t been driving in the right places, pal,” he snapped.
Snarling denials of reality probably aren’t a recipe for electoral success. But these days that isn’t the only way to win elections, and turnout will be key this year as voter enthusiasm sinks to all-time lows.
Even if Biden is a dead man walking, you can bet Democrats have plenty of dirty tricks up their sleeves.

Former National Enquirer Publisher David Pecker Reportedly First to Testify in Trump Trial
ELIZABETH WEIBEL21 Apr 2024 2:02
(Is Pecker his real last name?)
David Pecker, former publisher of the National Enquirer, is reportedly set to be the first to testify in former President Donald Trump’s hush money trial.
Pecker, whose tabloid reportedly engaged in “catch and kill” practices to bury damaging stories about Trump, will be the first to take the stand after opening arguments in the trial on Monday, a source close to the matter told the New York Times.
Trump is facing 34 counts of falsifying business records in the first degree in relation to hush money payments made to adult entertainment star Stormy Daniels during the 2016 presidential election.
The hush money trial will center around allegations that Trump falsified his business records to hide reimbursement payments made to Michael Cohen, his former attorney.
Cohen was provided with reimbursement payments after he had arranged hush money payments to people such as Daniels to bury negative stories about Trump.

As Pecker takes the stand on Monday, he will reportedly “recount” multiple conversations he had with Trump “about the hush money,” according to the source.
The trial will also bring up hush money payments made to former Playboy model Karen McDougal and a “onetime doorman” to Trump who alleged that the former president had fathered a child out of wedlock.
Pecker was reportedly able to buy the silence of the doorman and buy the rights to McDougal’s story, only to have it killed.
After learning about Daniels’ potentially damaging story about Trump, the National Enquirer contacted Cohen, who said he arranged to pay the porn star $130,000 for her silence.
Cohen has pled guilty to arranging deals to pay both Daniels and McDougal for their silence and has claimed he acted at Trump’s direction.
Trump is currently under a gag order that prevents him from speaking about witnesses and counsel in the case, with the exception of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.

Melania Trump Selling $245 Mother’s Day Necklaces: ‘Being a Mother Is One of the Most Important Roles’
ELIZABETH WEIBEL 21 Apr 2024 1:54
(Cheesy... Priced at $2.45 would be fair. JMO)
Former first lady Melania Trump revealed on Sunday that she is selling $245 necklaces ahead of Mother’s Day weekend on May 12, noting that “being a mother is one of the most important roles.”
The customizable gold necklace, which is named “Her Love & Gratitude” became available on the former first lady’s website on Sunday morning. It is described as a “flower pendant” necklace with an “adjustable chain.”
“Being a mother is one of the most important roles in life,” Trump told the Hill in a statement. “For this Mother’s Day, I have designed the ‘Her Love & Gratitude’ necklace to express immense gratitude and honor all mothers.”
The necklaces can “be engraved with names, initials, or significant dates to create a one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry,” according to Trump’s website.

Each necklace also comes with the former first lady’s signature on it.
Trump has largely remained out of the spotlight as former President Donald Trump campaigns for reelection in the upcoming 2024 presidential election.
A political and social source close to the former first lady told People that she “dislikes a petting zoo” and will attend events “when she has to.” The former first lady has also been known to focus on raising her and the former president’s son, Barron.
“Melania dislikes a petting zoo. She goes when she has to but if it’s not essential she prefers to stay out of the public eye,” the source told the outlet. “When an event is packed full of campaigning types and crowds of people even at Mar-a-Lago, she tries to opt out.”
The former president has also been known to sell his own items, from shiny, gold high tops with the American flag for $399, to Bibles for $60.
