Intel breaking out to new 52-week highs after catching an upgrade to Buy at Mizuho this morning; chip maker is coming off back-to-back beat-and-raise quarterly reports, fueled by recovery in PC market

Added shares at $42.98
Trend Analysis
INTC appears to be in a strong bullish trend. Its 200-day moving average is upwards sloping and the MACD histogram is above 0. Comparative Relative Strength analysis shows that this issue is outperforming the S&P 500.
Momentum for INTC is strongly bullish. The 14-period Slow Stochastic oscillator is above 80, the level which many analysts call overbought. This means that investors have been actively purchasing shares and driving the price higher.
Today's volume is on track to be lighter than usual, with 13,644,145 shares having traded so far. The On Balance Volume indicator (OBV) is bullish. The slope of the indicator is positive and suggests that buyers are presently more active than sellers.
Bollinger Bands® use standard deviation of the closing price around a moving average to measure volatility. The Bollinger Bands® are presently wider than usual, as a result of greater than normal volatility that accompanied the recent price move. Events such as this may precede a pause or reversal in the near term trend.

I think the drop is because 18A was slated as ahead of schedule and probably out in late 2024. Yesterday the CEO was talking that everything is going well and 18A should be out by early 2025 - so possibly a little slip there
After a rise of share price from the level of $32 to the $38 area within couple of weeks I see the down move as short term profit taking. However the longer term picture is unchanged. I was tempted as well. This is normal. For long term holding one should not be focused on day to day price changes especially given the economic and geopolitics uncertainties, etc. I understand that depends on one's own approach or style of trading. There is also resistance ahead in the $39-40 level to overcome as I see the charts. The Intel challenges are big.
"Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) – Intel is leading the race to secure billions of dollars in funding for secure microchip production facilities for U.S. military and intelligence use. The facilities aim to reduce dependence on imported chips from East Asia and would be funded by the $53 billion Chips Act from the Biden administration. Additionally, Intel canceled a planned investment in Vietnam that could have nearly doubled its operations in the country. Vietnam was seeking to expand its chip industry, but Intel suspended the expansion plan citing concerns about power supply and excessive bureaucracy."
It appears to me Intel is focused mainly on growth of the company securing funds every way it can to better meet the AI challenge ahead and think it is well qualified and capable.
Where is this stock headed and why was dividends cut ?

Earnings significantly exceeded expectations. Strong QOQ growth, with forecast now showing return to YOY growth next quarter. Should see a nice pop in the stock price Friday.
Intc share price had a Double Bottom Breakdown on 20-Oct-2023.
The good thing is that the technical picture is looking good. I follow them. My shares are increasing in price.
Did the intc share price really end in the negative today? GLTY & GLTA
PS:The Weeklies and the Dailies are in sync and both in uptrend mode right now.
Today's company presentation ended up being quite a disappointment and the reason for the almost 4% decline in price. They touted the new chip (available in December), but did not give any update on the foundry business or standalone AI chip development. I expect the stock will decline in the near term.
ShawnyD: It's nice to see intc do well in this down market.
My acct shows dividend credited.
Share price still in Double Top Breakout continuation mode since it happened on 29-Aug-2023.
Cheers & Have fun
The dividend went from 5% to 1.17% this year… they need to compete against apples M1 chip.
Good for you! Congrats.
I wonder if I got as well. My buying of shares are quite recent. I know they are now trying to build up again and it will take time. Intc is good for st swing trading and for long term.
Almost all good computers had intl chips inside. It was the best company few decades ago. I remember CEO Andy Grove.
Also I used to see new Intel building offices spreading in cities that I traveled from SF to S Lake Tahoe, quite often. Go Intel!
I got my $6 in dividends today! Ohh boy!
This path appears to lead to $38.60 >>> $39.01 and higher while the chart pattern is still propelled by the DB on 29-Aug-2023.
Go Intel!
made the best 1 day gain in quite a while----interest rate is bugging the hedge fuds
Added more shares to account at $36.53
Intel share price Double Top Breakout today on 29-Aug-2023
PS: I am resisting my urge to buy here. However, will wait for the next opportunity at lower prices. GLTA
In 2036 maybe lol
Doubled owned shares buying at $33.15, this time, yesterday. That was step 2.
Cheers & GLTA
Dividend dived after I bought.. terrible management
Judge Albrights ruling that the SVM-RFE patent fails Alice adds credence to Intel's process.

Intel share price had a Double Bottom Breakdown on 16-Aug-2023
I bought shares at $36.00 when the signal for a breakout was first given on July 27. That was step 1.
I shall see where this downtrend will lead to, and when another breakout signal is given. GLTA
It's an absolute shanda what this company has done to Health Discovery Corporation! Intel and it's goons are a total disgrace.
Intel share price had a signal of Ascending Triple Top Breakout on last Thursday 27-July-2023.
The challenge now appears to be to try to rise and again to hold $37.11 or above. Today it failed.
May be that's too much to ask for as it rose even higher then settled at $35.77 at market close.
I bought some shares at $36.00 It used to a great stock few decades ago under Andy Grove.
However, it looks like a "slow moving train" at this time. Too much competition by better companies.
GLTA
I agree. This is super cheap compared to where we will be 2024 on.....$INTC long and strong!
They are also spending massive amounts on building a new chip infrastructure. The buildout will pay off in the long run, so take your dividend and wait.
Intel recorded a $2.8 billion loss - its biggest quarterly loss of all time - and profits fell by 134 percent during the first quarter of 2023, when compared with the same period a year ago, due to falling sales in key markets like datacenter servers and PCs.
Intel will receive an enlarged subsidy package worth about €10 billion $INTC LONG AND STRONG!!!
INTC was mentioned on Blumberg......NICE VOLUME ---is good for both sides
INTC announced layoffs around 6 months ago.
Looking at the Q4 earnings statement, they did not drop headcount at all. Q1 indicated they had finally dropped about 6K people. I think they need to drop another 15K or so to get the costs under control. I know a few folks who have taken a package deal. I suspect to hit the goal they will need to layoff some folks who would rather stay.
Very unfortunate news, but massive layoffs at Intel coming!

Intel's Datacenter and Client computing groups are receiving ~10% budget cuts
It's up to divisions to figure out how to cut
Given fixed costs, means as much as 20% layoffs in groups

Two questions I honestly don't know the answer to.
(1) Is there any evidence Intel has used these patents after the interference proceedings were completed?
(2) Is Intel liable for usage of these patents prior to clear ownership of the patents?
AFAIK, all of the use cases listed in the lawsuit predate the conclusion of the interference trial. The life of the patents were extended due to the time it took to resolve the interference, bringing into question the liability prior to the conclusion of the interference trial.
So far HDVY has struggled with the first hurdle of proving the patents are valid.
It seems the second hurdle of proving Intel illegally used the patents will also be difficult.
HDVY is a notorious patent troll. How many times are they going to take a run at this after being repeatedly bounced out of court?

BREAKING Intel Exiting the Server Business Selling to MiTAC
In line with Intel’s continued efforts to prioritize investments in its IDM 2.0 strategy, we have made the difficult decision to exit our Data Center Solutions Group (DSG). As part of this plan, MiTAC, an edge-to-cloud IT solutions provider and longstanding ODM partner of DSG, will have the right to manufacture and sell products based on our designs. We are focused on ensuring the DSG team and its stakeholders are supported during this transition. (Source: Intel Spokesperson to STH)
