Todays Thought
Ten Spiritual Tonics
By Abraham L. Feinberg
1. Stop worrying. Worry kills life.
2. Begin each day with a prayer. It will arm your soul.
3. Control appetite. Overindulgence clogs body and mind.
4. Accept your limitations. All of us can't be great.
5. Don't envy. It wastes time & energy.
6. Have faith in people. Cynicism sours the disposition.
7. Find a hobby. It will relax your nerves.
8. Read a book a week. It will stimulate & broaden your views.
9. Spend some time alone. It gives peace, solitude, and silence.
10. Try to want what you have, instead of spending your strength trying to get what you want.
THE ESSENCE OF A NEW DAY
"This is the beginning of a new day.
You have been given this day to use as you will.
You can waste it or use it for good.
What you do today is important because
you are exchanging a day of your life for it.
When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever;
in its place is something you have left behind.....
let it be something good."
"Far away in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them, but I can see the beauty, believe in them,
and try to follow where they lead."
~Louisa May Alcott
Night Prayer...
God, forgive me where I have been resentful, selfish, dishonest or afraid today. Help me to not keep anything to myself but to discuss it all openly with another person - show me where I owe an apology and help me make it. Help me to be kind and loving to all people. Use me in the mainstream of life, God. Free me of worry, remorse or morbid (sick) reflections that I may be of usefulness to others. AMEN
That's how I felt. It was meaningless. Everyone needs something to uplift their spirits throughout the day. Glad to have you around. :)
Okay, I was wondering how this board popped up, lol.
Great idea, stock boards are a dime a dozen, that's why I consider your music board the best ihub has to offer.
Glad you started such a board as this.
Agreed, probably not.
a coincidence that we both love it? Probably not... :)
The poor sick squirrel. :(
OOPS! I haven't read much of this board yet. Have had that item posted on the board in my office a few years, I love it too.
MMMMM, dat squirrel makes me hongry! haa! he'd be good with a lil gravy and some bisquits.

You know... the other day, I was meditating, mind over matter stuff, about my stocks, I envisioned them trading on my streamer all green. They are today, with but a few exceptions. Amazing...
Hey, Whips! We posted the same thing! I loved that so much too!

IT DOESN'T INTEREST ME
Indian Elder, Oriah Mountain Dreamer
It doesn't interest me what you do for a living.
I want to know what you ache for,
and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart's longing.
It doesn't interest me how old you are.
I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for love,
for your dreams, for the adventure of being alive.
It doesn't interest me what planets are squaring with your moon.
I want to know if you have touched the center of your own sorrow,
if you have been opened by life's betrayals,
or have become shriveled and closed from fear of further pain.
I want to know if you can sit with pain, mine or your own,
without moving to hide it or fade it or fix it.
I want to know if you can be with joy, mine or your own;
if you can dance with wildness and let the ecstasy
fill you to the tips of your fingers and toes
without cautioning us to be careful or realistic,
or to remember the limitations of being human.
It doesn't interest me if the story you're telling me is true.
I want to know if you can disappoint another to be true to yourself,
if you can bear the accusation of betrayal without betraying your soul.
I want to know if you can be faithful, and therefore, trustworthy.
I want to know if you can see beauty even when it is not pretty every day,
and if you can source your life from God's presence.
I want to know if you can live with failure; yours or mine,
and still stand on the edge of a lake and shout "Yes!"
to the silver of the full moon.
It doesn't interest me to know where you live or how much money you have.
I want to know if you can get up after a night of grief and despair,
weary and bruised to the bone,
and do what needs to be done for the children.
It doesn't interest me who you are or how you came to be here.
I want to know if you will stand in the center of the fire with me and not
shrink back.
It doesn't interest me where or what or with whom you have studied.
I want to know what sustains you from the inside when all else falls away.
I want to know if you can be alone with yourself,
and truly like the company you keep in the empty moments.
Thanks for the inspiration, Missy.
Just thought I would drop in with this pirated post from elsewhere.....
I had a friend in Port Huron, Mich.,
who went to see Elvis in Detroit, about that same year. And he told me about the karate, also. Guess it was just something Elvis wanted to do.
I always have felt empathy for Elvis and his unwillingness to live amongst the citizenry. When you draw your life circle down to a small size, you miss out on so much that is important. Instead of trying to limit the size of my circle, I keep trying to expand it. I believe that is why I am a truck driver. The farther you go, the more people you come in contact with. So, Ronnie, where are you going today?
By the way, I was working in the shop that I had in a big barn on August 16, 1977. The shop was located in Goodells, Michigan. On the wall, I had a small radio that played 24/7. The barn, because its location was in the country, was out of earshot of everyone, and it was easier to leave it playing, than shutting it off everytime I left the shop, and turning it on everytime I walked in. I am not certain what I was doing that morning, or early afternoon; but, I remember hearing of Elvis' death, and for about an hour, I just stopped working and thought of Elvis and the effect that he had on the world. I think I was experiencing some kind of culture shock syndrome. Perhaps I felt like Don McLean in 1971 with his "American Pie," the eight-and-a-half-minute epic track inspired by the tragic death of Buddy Holly, the Big Bopper (Hello, Baby!) and Ritchie Valens was released.
Whatever, I knew then, as I do now, that, arguably, the most influential person in the music industry, to that date, had been silenced.
I love this painting of Elvis. It comes from the following site:

Reason, Season, And A Lifetime
People come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. When you figure out which it is, you will know exactly what to do.
Some people come into our lives and quickly go..
Some people become friends and stay awhile...
leaving beautiful footprints on our hearts...
and we are never quite the same because we have made a good friend!!!
When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed outwardly or inwardly. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally, or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend, and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrong doing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they act up or out and force you to take a stand. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled; their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and it is now time to move on.
When people come into your life for a SEASON, it is because your turn has come to share, grow, or learn. They may bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it! It is real! But, only for a season.
LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons; those things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person or people involved; and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships, and areas of your life. It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.
When you read this, just recite the following prayer.
That's all you have to do. There is nothing else attached.
This is the power of prayer at work.
May today there be peace within you.
May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be.
May you not forget the infinite possibilities
that are born of faith.
May you use those gifts that you have received,
and pass on the love that has been given to you.
May you be content knowing that you are a child of God.
Let His presence settle into your bones,
and allow your soul the freedom to sing,
dance, and to bask in the sun.
It is there for each and every one of you.
"In the morning let me know your love
for I put my trust in you.
Make me know the way I should walk;
to you I lift up my soul."
Rescue me, Lord, from my enemies;
I have fled to you for refuge.
Teach me to do your will
for you, O Lord, are my God.
Let your good spirit guide me
in ways that are level and smooth.
For your name's sake, Lord, save my life;
in your justice save my soul from distress."
Psalm 143:8-12
ohhhhhh! Those look nice! I'm going to get other colors and mix them all up! Thanks, luv!
Some w/ stars, some w/out. COLOR EXPLOSION
Hey, Ron...Thanks for the link on those flowers.
While admiring the flowers in a neighbors yard on one of my walks this spring, the neighbor pulled 4-5 of 'em and gave them to me.
He told me the name of them, but I could not remember it.
I looked for days, but all I could remember is it started with the letter p.
Thanks again! :)
hmmmm, we have some of these growing in the front yard. I wonder if it's the same star flower? They've stopped opening up so much because of the cooler weather now. We have the purple and yellow ones, intermixed. I love them.
Clovis, California :)
Isn't that beautiful. Ron sent it to me a while back and I just fell in love with it.
When I was growing up on the ranch, we had nearly 100 wild peakcocks around there. I use to collect the feathers and put them in big milk cans and then sell them to people. We had a few that were part white but not true albinos.
This is still a fav, Ron. Takes my breath away.
Albino Peacock
I don't think that's it? It doesn't have the start in the middle?
Oh, thank you Ron! I loved the little star in the middle. I'll go try t find some. Thanks!
they was very nice, he passed the sign on to others,
beware love can be contagious with no vaccine available!
;)
I passed the inspiration on. Check your mail. LOL.
Hi, Missy...
That flower is called: Moss Rose, Purslane
Portulaca grandiflora
In California, the flower has reportedly done well in the following areas:
Castro Valley, California
Clovis, California
El Sobrante, California
Elk Grove, California
Knights Landing, California
Murrieta, California
Taft, California
http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/241/index.html
They can be propagated either by seed, or by cuttings. But, undoubtedly the easiest way to get them going is to buy some plants already started professionally. IMHO.
;o Zzzzzzzzzzz.....
Me too!!! {{{{HUGS!!!}}}}
that makes me want to hug u. watch da foot! lol! 8^)
from Zan, on Cyber's board. Now that's inspirational!
