(Alliance News) - Ilika PLC on Tuesday noted the company's recent share price surge, but reiterated the guidance it issued in November.
Shares in the solid-state battery technology provider were 25% higher in London on Tuesday mid-morning at 249.00 pence, topping at 280.00p. The company started December trading at 101.00p, and the stock was worth just 29.45p at the start of 2020.
At the beginning of November, Ilika had said trading in its first half, ended October 31, was in line with expectations. It noted that, despite restrictions, revenue recognition in half came in at GBP1.3 million, down from GBP1.5 million a year earlier. Loss before interest, tax depreciation and amortisation was unchanged at GBP1.0 million.
Ilika on Tuesday noted the growing interest in solid state batteries in the media in recent weeks regarding their future potential in automotive applications but cautioned that more work needs to be done.
"In particular, whilst the board is confident about the prospects for the company's Goliath larger format batteries, mass market commercialisation is dependent on further technical development and successful manufacturing scale-up," Ilika added.
Ilika plans to publish its interim results on January 14.

Very sweet day for ILIKF. Looking for a continuation all week
QuantumScape 48.90 down 35.55 on ticker after hours today.
Yikes!
Interesting how they capped us today at $2.55 tons of buying and yet they couldn't break the cap. Tomorrow is another day. :)
Great video. Thanks. Purdy mentions automotive McLaren. Have you seen movie "Rush". At one point James Hunt is racing McLaren against Niki Lauda in a Ferrari. Great racing movie.
"The interim results for the period ended 31 October 2020 will be released on 14 January 2021."
OEM partnership discussions must have concluded by the end of 2020. Announcement on January 14th?
Yes indeed considering what it is and “that” patent they hold this is an easy set it and forget it play

Short attack must be. This rose to much too fast. It will come back
Good morning Subslover
Yes indeed .....
it has been an awesome finish
Lets start strong in the new year!!!
GM Mr. Breezy. An amazing end to 2020 with these powerful % gains! More to come!!!

ILIKF uses:
...says Graeme Purdy. “Other players in the field of solid-state batteries have chosen to use lithium metal anodes, whereas we use a silicon anode. Some of our rivals use sulphur-based electrolytes, whereas we use a ceramic oxide. We come from a different starting point which has enabled us to develop robust, well-functioning miniature solid state batteries that we are scaling up for larger applications such as cars.”
Thanks so much this good info.

https://eresearch.com/2019/06/28/otherreports/stock-gumshoe-stock-teaser-revealed-x/ (Good 2019 review of ILIKF, at only circa $0.53 per share, by the 'StockGumshoe' chap)
This is a BRITISH CO., that has been working for years to revolutionize (heard that before?) the battery industry by producing the most COMPACT & POWERFUL versions thereof. Back in March, 2019, I bought this Stock at circa $0.53 per behind the "StockGumshoe.com" Site, which had guessed that this Company was the one being hyped by that WHITE-DUDE-WITH-THE-GREY-BEARD, who claims to be the World's best 'Silicon Valley Insider' since Pre-Colombian times.
That is good to hear my money-making friend. :))
Yes Sir
Great holiday better next year. Hope same for you
Today could be amazing ??
Yes at the place on fire and turn this thing into a cash wheel
Hey Mr. Breezy! Hope you had a nice holiday weekend bro! Gonna be fun again today ILIKF
yeah, Parkwalk Advisors decreased its stake. I guess we will find out who bought when their stake increases to more than 5% ??
What matters most is not the anode/cathode material alone. It is the chemical reactivity /degradation / dendrite formation at the interface with the electrolyte.
So yes, Si is cheaper, but if degrades when in contact with the solid electrolyte under non-equilibrium conditions/high currents, than you only end up with a prototype that can do only a few cycles/low current, i.e. doesn't meet automotive requirements. I believe Goliath is at this stage.
The most important and difficult to achieve is a single cell that hits automotive requirements. QS is there, Ilinka's EV baterry is not there yet.
That being said I still invested in Ilinka because:
- the price is relatively decent. if Ilinka's EV battery prototype reaches the stage of a working cell that meets automotive requirements, the price would jump more than x10 the actual price.
- the price recently increased without news; I deduce this is not a pump and dump, otherwise they would have released some PR before the pump.
- the stock must have been recently bought by a hedge fund, idk which one though. I see however that another fund decreased accordingly its stake in Ilinka, see:

Vs QuantumScape
QuantumScape uses pure lithium metal anode. Tested well on one cell but yet to be tested on required stacked cells.

Silicon is:
Gooder
Cheaper
Faster
Ilika vs Tesla.
Ilika uses silicon anode.

Tesla wants to use silicon anode.

Problem to be solved: silicon bloats.
this is such a nice piece of information to have access to so thank you.
Fully expect that this will run at a fever pitch next week. GTLU
This is Lee from Christmas dinner
This looks like a great investment for someone looking 5 years forward. The larger battery (for EVs) needs more R&D to meet automotive requirements but of it gets there it will be a great success. This is not guaranteed (solving issues related to chemical reactivity at the electrode/solid-electrolyte interface is not trivial, it may be solved with grading and/or other approaches but may also require a completely different electrolyte) but overall I'm long term bullish. All in.

% change: +272.2
For a change, the best performer at the halfway stage did not just hang on to its early gains it moved even higher. There was a share price dip in line with the market during March, but there has been an upward trend for the whole year. Battery technology developer Ilika (LSE:IKA) has evolved its strategy for the manufacturing of its Stereax solid-state battery technology.
Stereax batteries are designed for wireless sensors and medical devices. Contract manufacturing was considered but management has decided to establish its own manufacturing facility. This will speed up the product launch and lead to improved operating margins.
In March, Ilika raised £15 million at 40p a share, so there is plenty of cash in the bank to invest in the manufacturing facility. This should start at the beginning of 2021 and production capacity will be 70 times the current level by the end of the year.
Revenues will start to build up in the year to April 2022 and the following year they could exceed £12 million, which could make the company profitable. Longer-term, there is the larger Goliath battery, which can be used for electric vehicles. This could address an enormous market.
This recommendation proved well-timed considering the years of investment that have gone into the battery technologies. The share price is high enough for the time being, but the technology being developed will have a substantial value over the next decade.
Merry Christmas everyone and GLTU
I still think the news is coming and soon
BREAKOUT! $4.24 HOD. Merry Chrismas!
Big exchange would explain. Not sure what the conditions are for such a transition.
I am wondering if their cells already hit automotive requirements, or rather more R&D is needed?
Yes, what's going on here I posted yesterday.
Anyone knows what's going on here? I see no news to justify the pump. It seems that a hedge fund took over -perhaps take advantage of the hype in solid-state batteries? Are there underground developments - say OEM partnerships?
Stumbled across this yesterday and bought 3k shares on a chance. Thought I bought too high at $2.40. Glad I held. Just broke $4.20. Hahooooo!
