Hm. Price drop from 26.99 to 24.14 but no change in 600 share volume. What's that about? Hm. Then 100 to 700 brings it to 26.00. Something's wacky, because i'm showing 1000 shares traded when I look by bar.
Mr. Nerges only buys, on the open market, so far he does not sell:

3/14/14 Interesting. The price had held well all day against a fearful market (Russia/Ukraine/Crimera and poor China data) light volume, quiet since a trade came in at 12:28:08 pm, then these came in at 16:00:00 (495, 37 shares) and 16:00:02 and (61,81, 64,5, 244 shares) dropping it from 24.9999 to 24.11.
Was it the elusive Mr. Nerges, once again stealth buying?
What interests me about the digital texturing of molds is that maybe in the future we will produce MOST of an object via AM, then cast a slightly larger finished piece using the AM piece as core. What do they call it in sculpture? Armature? From what I read, one of 3-D printings current challenges is smoothness and uniformity in finished product. This approach would not meet uniformity in composition, but at least uniformity of surface appearance.
And expertise in UV reactive films and transfers, that sounds interesting, too.
3/7/14 28.81 ? -1.87 (-6.10%)
After two strong recent gains, Feb 21 volume jump from 100 to 27,874 and $16 to $24.26, and then on March 5th volume jump from 12,417 to 29,993 with a sp jump from 25.95 to 30.68, I was very relieved today to see a pullback hidden inside a full market shaker -- we down 6.47% on 3x vol. and NASDAQ down 0.37%. Looks very good. Some or many of the newcomers have clearly cashed and gone.

Looking MIGHTY strong. Might see volatility, but so far, so good.
Just heard about the 3D adaptation of current products. You can expect a lot of action very soon.
I plan to get in at the market opening.
GLTA!
Duh. I was thinking that by trouble filling orders you meant for the float shares on the open market. Only later I realized that you mean production capacity. So. I'll need to go back to their site and read more to see if I can get a better value.
You make sense. I hope that if they do, they make it sweet enough. I hope if they did get an offer, they would part the company out. There are several buisnesses here, I am extremely interested in the aerospace micromachining as well.
Can you imagine if the auto companies give them an order for their dashboards in the quantities that they need? How many systems will just GM need? And if some aircraft company does the same? How many have they built so far? One? More than one? What about their technical issues that they had? Solved? Their patents, their float, their recurring revenue model and the future of mold texturing are all in alignment but I smell a buyout and escape from Duluth.
I agree. At the time when I wasn't getting filled, day after day, I thought I had trapped myself into a holding that wasn't going to trade (at all!) and that if it was going to stay flat, I wasn't going to get a great price if I HAD to sell. Anyway, if the price/value is good enough, trade will loosen up, IMO. There is one inside buyer who has been accumulating this for years, one piece at atime. Maybe he'll make it a market. I hope so.
There is good value here. An established company that obviously recognized that they needed to reinvent themselves, to apply their long developed expertise in new ways. I think additive manufacturing is our (collective) future, but right now one of the main drawbacks is surface texture. A company who has a system that can digitally alter surface appearance, this is important I think. Lately I've been reading that we might be best if we combined traditional styles of manufacturing with new. Maybe as we transition, maybe we take the best of what each has to offer.
I looked at this just after its big run. My concern is that if large orders come in, the capability to fill them is questionable IMHO Maybe it does not influence the buyers of the stock

Hello and welcome, sttone! We had a very strong close today, in price appreciation (up 9.33%)and volume. Starting at 14:40, volume started coming in, and kept up right through the close.
There were days on end that I had bids in just under the ask, and the sellers would not budge an inch. Very good to have steady hands in control of this.

2m out 900k float under 50m cap..at last a full fledged low float 3d printer...could easily be much much higher once seen and understood.
I wish I had another person to discuss this stock with. Up 7.41% as I type. Anybody? Yooo Hooo...anybody.......
2/27/14 JDS Industries Distribution Agreement
With fourteen distribution centers throughout the United States and a decades-long reputation for consistent delivery, exceptional customer service and a diverse product offering, JDS is uniquely positioned to avail IKONICS Imaging products to geographical markets traditionally outside the focus of IKONICS Imaging, including those customers JDS has been supplying for years
2/21/14 "We are also seeing a ramp up of our Micro Machining aerospace business, and we plan to increase our capacity in the second quarter in anticipation of this business." Ulland cautioned, "This business is being driven by a new technology used by our customers, and its growth will be determined by industry acceptance of this technology. However, we believe that we are supplying the cutting edge of the aerospace industry and that growth is likely to be substantial as the technology is adopted. To manage Micro Machining, we have hired John Palmer, who has strong industry experience including working for IBM Global Engineering Solutions, Northrop Grumman, and Space Systems Loral. He will be responsible for meeting our current customer demand and bringing new business to IKONICS."
I know that those last couple posts were not recent events, just wanted to bring new investors to date on things. This week is the Singapore Air Show. It could bring interesting things to the IKNX doorstep.

6/21/13 IKONICS® Corporation to Be Added to Russell Microcap® Index
In addition to our focus on sound deadening, we recently announced an exciting project with Lockheed Martin for the machining of ceramic matrix composites (CMC). We are seeing additional interest in this application of our technology from other companies. In the aerospace industry, CMC is projected to replace metal, thereby reducing weight and improving performance in a new generation of jet engines as indicated in this educational video produced by General Electric:

IKONICS Corporation (“IKONICS” or the “Company”) was incorporated in Minnesota as Chroma-Glo, Inc. in 1952 and changed its name to The Chromaline Corporation in 1982.
In December 2002, the Company changed its name to IKONICS Corporation.
The Company’s traditional business has been the development, manufacture and selling of photosensitive liquids (“emulsions”) and films for the screen printing and awards and recognition industries. These sales have been augmented with inkjet receptive films, ancillary chemicals and related equipment to provide a full line of products and services to its customers. These products are sold worldwide through distributors.
In 2006, the Company began a major effort to diversify and expand its business to industrial markets. These efforts now include the Company’s Micro-Machining business unit, which uses the Company’s proprietary and patent applied for photoresist film for the abrasive etching of silicon wafers, glass wafers, industrial ceramics and composite materials. The customer base for Micro-Machining is primarily the electronics and aerospace industries.
Based on its expertise in ultraviolet curable fluids and inkjet receptive substrates, the Company has also developed a patented digital texturing technology (DTX) for putting patterns and textures into steel molds for the plastic injection molding industry. The ultimate original equipment manufacturer (“OEM”) for the Company’s DTX technology is primarily the automotive industry. The Company offers a suite of products to the mold making industry. Industrial inkjet printers, which are integral to the DTX system, are manufactured and sold by strategic partners.
In 2010, a first generation DTX printer was delivered and subsequently sold to a customer beta site.
In January 2012, a second generation printer was sold to a North American mold maker. The Company’s business plan is to sell consumable fluids and transfer films. For most markets these sales are direct to the mold maker, except in Japan and Southeast Asia, where the Company has a strong distributor.
