Yes, the three are in the free zone. That's what the hubbub is about. It's Matt's preogative to change the User Agreement as he sees fit. The problem is he doesn't.
are all three boards in the free stock area?
There are three boards for WAVX also, but only one is in the freebie area, the other two are premium...
I, for one, enjoy your surveys and vote in them all.
The best way to spam your next survey (IMO) would be to hit a handful of high-readership boards (Jail, QA, etc.) and then, since your survey is political, if there are also a couple stock boards you want to hit, PM the moderators first so there's no complaints.
New scenarios always come up that the Admin has to respond to with new decrees... I think the message here is, "If a moderator has a new political survey, please don't spam it around on a lot of stock boards."
Even though you had the netiquette to label it OT, it would be bad if a lot of moderators started doing the same thing with other surveys.
Just my 2 cents, where's my penny change
Thanks Ruellit,
You clearly hit the nail on the head here...
He owns this place and does what he wants
It's a shame that he does that, and also allows for the creation of 3 stock boards for ONE company, which has clearly been against his rules before.
I think he makes up the rules as he goes along.
Interesting reply Burp!
I guess my "rant" here is whether people on IHUB even know what is meant by OT (OFF TOPIC).
Most all Message Boards allow for OT posting. And mine was clearly marked as such. Whether it was on a stock board or a non stock board should not make a difference.
To me, once even the administrators of a message board service choose to both acknowledge and understand that OT means OFF TOPIC, these issues will continue to haunt the internet world.
In "NETIQUETTE" most people have learned what OT stands for, but when a webmaster himself is deciding that OT is not ethical or warranted, my ears perk up !!!
My questions follow for input from other IHUB Moderators...
1). Should OT (Off Topic) Messages be allowed on IHUB Stock Boards?
Why not!
2). If an IHUB moderator feels an OT post is in bad taste, is that justification to remove the post?
Definitely!
3). If no IHUB moderator felt the need to delete my post, why would I have received a complaint via PM from IHADMIN Matt?
He owns this place and does what he wants.
I think we have to use our instincts... if we have a new survey, or a new contest, we can spam it around somewhat, but if we hit too many boards we increase the chance of someone complaining.
Perhaps since it was of a political nature, it cheesed someone off, and we know Matt does like to keep stock boards unburdened of politics.
If it had been a new contest, nobody may have cared.
It may be a mistake to go macro, though, and elevate this issue into a question of, "Should OT messages be allowed on stock boards?" It's really a case of, if one has a new survey, don't hit too many stock boards with it.
PS: Here's a thought. Next time, if there are stock boards you *really* want to spam, PM the moderator first and get permission.
Opinions requested...
Hi Gang,
I recently submitted a survey regarding the upcoming National Presidential Elections.
I have been conducting this survey monthly for the past six months. In all the prior surveys, I limited myself as to what boards to post the survey on, but for this last survey, titled the LATE OCTOBER Presidential Survey, I decided to post a link to the survey to more boards on IHUB than I had in the past.
Subsequently, to date 150 IHUBBERS have replied to the survey, which is the highest response that I have ever known of for any survey on IHUB.
But alas!!! IHADMIN Matt PM'd me, and chastised me for spamming the survey link regarding the election survey and questioned why I had posted the link on STOCK BOARDS at all....(although I had clearly marked the message as Off Topic)
My questions follow for input from other IHUB Moderators...
Should OT (Off Topic) Messages be allowed on IHUB Stock Boards?
If an IHUB moderator feels an OT post is in bad taste, is that justification to remove the post?
If no IHUB moderator felt the need to delete my post, why would I have received a complaint via PM from IHADMIN Matt?
For the record, I did receive a couple PM's from one angry IHUB user that chastised me for not including more choices on the survey, such as the Green Party (I don't even know what candidate the Green Party is supporting!)
Any input would be of great interest to me because in my opinion if the Survey Feature on IHUB is to be of benefit, the linking to any survey should be freely allowed on all IHUB boards.
Comments? Opinions?
LOL... Cool, I've been warned!
While I am still a reg over on the politics board as a reader, I am determined to keep my yap shut till it's over. So, just remember.. I'm keeping a close eye on you!! LOL
Why thank you sir, I appreciate that!
HARR!!! Burpzilla's on the job!
Grub.
Talk about shameless!!
Deft, I tell you, deft indeed.
Maybe they just woke up, and have "pillow face." That happens to me sometimes. Give them some coffee & wait a while.
doggy water?? a little starch maybe and a quick run over with the iron should do it
LOL!
I think you have to rehydrate those things. Try placing them in the bathtub overnight.
I know.. I'm a friggen genius... and this is a board about moderation.. n'est pas?
i see, once again, I have to use the threat of unleashing my pit bulls.. as soon as i finish ironing them
Nice maneuver there, twisting this conversation over to the topic of moderation.
yeah.. it gets kinda scary over there, and the closer the election, the more intense people become. I am doing my damndest not to post there but it ain't easy LOL I do however enjoy reading the posts, and I must say ONEBGG is pretty fair handed in his moderator role.
Don't worry, now that I have him marked -- non-surreptitiously, mind you -- I'll be keeping an eye on him.
easy burp.. I know how to REMOVE membermarks
Yep, But I know Hasher from my GOV board where we disagree but get along, like I wish more of us could and would, JMHO!
The fact that hasher didn't know that basic information, makes me wonder about his background... hmm..
Did you notice how expertly he conned you out of that information?
I see it now.. thank you my good man
Bottom Left of post in white Letters, "Add Boardmark".
How do you boardmark a board?
I boarmarked the board, but I fessed up, LOL!!!
How rude of me!
Okay, check again. It wasn't for you, though, it was for your cute kitty cats.
where's my friggen membermarks?? more terrorist activity, no doubt
Yeah, there's nothing worse than people who place board-marks surreptitiously.
Maybe Matt can look in the server & tell us exactly who board-marked this board without letting us know about it. What sneaks. They may be terrorists, too. Clearly they are up to no good.
Amen, brudda.
At least no one will blame me of shamelessly contriving issues with which to stir the embers buried in the hearts of those who would surreptitiously mark my board.
I agree.
Aw, shucks.
That's THREE!!!
Fred
Fred,
Miracles never cease.
LOL
Have fun,
Phil
Bingo!!!!!
That's TWO (issues on which we agree).
Wow! Does the sun still set in the west?
Fred
If what everyone is saying were true, we'd all be blasting IHUB for posting ads, no???
I can't see Ihub ads so I'd say no comparison.
Political siggies should be taboo on the stock boards, period.
Have fun,
Phil
IHUB and ethics? This is truly an oxymoron if ever there was one.
Of course. Have fun.
All in good humor. Another day in Paradise.
At least you have the right name for it.
VOTE FOR WANTOBE 2004.
Paid for by the vote for wantobe foundation.
Yes, I AGREE!
Regarding "SIGGIES"
Since we are all adults <assumed>, this discussion of political siggies seems very moot. I believe that even Matt and Bob would agree on this.
If I had a link in my siggie that suggested that Old Drummerman be elected President of the USA, would that in and of itself FORCE people to click on the link that I would supply regarding said political inference?
I thought not. LOL!
Everyone who uses and understands IHUB knows that users have distinct siggies. And everyone who uses the internet knows that they are of their own choosing what to click on and what to not click on.
If what everyone is saying were true, we'd all be blasting IHUB for posting ads, no???
Whining? LOL, So, expressing an opinion, agreed to by others, means we're all whining? Did I hit a nerve or something?
I thought it was known the subject at hand was about stock boards...I said nothing about non-stock boards. Maybe you should have more coffee before jumping to conclusions.
Would you have responded as you did if I had used 'Vote for Kerry in 2004' instead?
BTW, stock board or not, I think it's kinda hypocritical for a moderator who states on a board that there are only two board rules.....No Dixie Chicks and no politics.....and violates both.
No Dixie Chicks is a political thing, and your siggie statement is a political statement plain as day!
Double post? LOL, wasn't a double post you edited......Nice try though. :)
HARRR!!!
I have foudn that you have to tell MATT NOT to do something in order to get it done. lol. Trust me, he IGNORES everything I say also. Maybe get TLC or GRUBMASTER to SUGGest it. It may have more weight if one of those dudes get involved. Unless of course if TLC is still seeing stars from his honeymoon and can't find his keyboard...lol
