What about the people that have hundreds...that probably don’t deserve ten that Never visited the “Personmark Exchange Board”.

Fact is; many of the people here on iHub that have hundreds of Person Marks might only deserve ten "in our opinion" but, so what.
Who "Really" deserves any Person Marks, what does it "Really Matter"?
Since we can’t see other people’s Private Messages, the ones with hundreds of Person Marks “could” essentially be Private Messaging a lot of people (daily or weekly) asking others to exchange Person Marks.
I’m not saying that’s the reason and, I have no doubt a lot of the people that do have hundreds of Person Marks receive them from people that like something about that person. BUT . . .
iHub is NOT like eBay or one of the other on-line auction sites where "feedback" numbers and, especially. . . high "positive Feedback percentage" can make all the difference as to whether someone trusts you enough to buy from you, as well as sell to you.

Look at all the people here on iHub that have hundreds of Person Marks that you don't like, the people that bash on stock boards over and over, the people that simply irritate endlessly for no apparent reason, we all know our share of these people and more likely than not, we too are those irritating people to some. Do any of these people really deserve "any" of their Person Marks?

On iHub (IMO) Deserve/Earn in reference to Person Marks sounds more like an oxymoron.
Plus, I’ve made a lot of money from stock tips from people with less than one hundred Person Marks as I have from stock tips from people with hundreds and thousands of Person Marks.
Couldn’t it also be considered RIDICULOUS that people get Person Marks even though, there seems to be no real indicator of a person’s reliability, integrity, knowledge or trustworthiness?

Personmarks were originally designed to be able to help determine the creditability and reputation of any member that posts on IHUB.

That may have been the well intentioned idea behind the system but I can tell you that it failed miserably. When I look down the list of the iHubbers with the most person marks I don't see those with the most credibility or most trustworthy, I see nothing but the biggest pumpers and front men for large iHub pump groups, nothing more.

These people get a lot of followers because where they go their group goes, this create volume and generates momo, the stock might be the biggest POS in the world, that is inconsequential. Following those types of people means nothing unless you chase momo, of course if you buy in you should also know it's been heavily front-loaded so there is a good chance you will be one of the numerous bagholders they leave behind in their wake. If you think a stock is of good quality just because there are a lot of posters there who have big followings......THINK AGAIN..!!!

I have very few people that I follow but the guy that created that "other" person mark group is one of them, not because he marked me in exchange but because he is one of the few people on iHub that I trust and enjoy reading his posts. He's a smart guy he knows darn well that the person mark system is flawed and a complete and utter joke, if there were any integrity to it whatsoever he would NEVER have started that board.

I believe in passion for a cause and maybe this one is good enuff so personmark to all. A good reason for exchanging personmarks? Most are given just because someone frequents a board no matter if dd is offered or good stock referrals or whatever should be criteria.

I have given a few just so I see folks that I know when I visit other boards.

Therefore, the system is flawed just for the reasons above which have nothing to do with cheating..

I keep trying to remember to post there, (freebies can't vet the posters) so I can have Admin ban me from their board. If the other detractors follow suit, it would be like having an 'anti-board' on their board =) I always check the ban list on boards I frequent, and Admin is more than happy to oblige posters who want to be banned from a particular thread.

Not too sure about keeping that list in the I Box; but I looked over that very list only yesterday to see who all posted there..

I do know for a fact that a couple of the people that posted over there were only stating their disagreement and disapproval for the mere existance of that board and what it represents..

So you can`t 100% rely on that list for accuracy..

People that support and utilize the board will probably have posted there often, so the worst abusers names will more than likely appear fairly close to the top..

You can click on their number of posts to the far right and determine exactly what their activity on the board consisted of..

Also pay attention to the last date they posted to see how recently they last utilized the board..

Some people may finally feel guilty for resorting to that board to increase their personmarks..

IHUB members that feel the temptation to go over to that other board and CHEAT to get personmarks should be forced to visit this board FIRST and read the I BOX and some of these posts..

If they have any sort of guilty conscience this would probably prevent them from visiting that board...

I'm going to amend that statement on another issue that has been seemingly abused as of late, and I'm going to touch on a few points about it.

It is the process by which IHUB is assigning 'followers' to individual posters. ( The old Person Mark system).

I'm assuming that by using the term 'follower', it is in theory supposed to be bestowed upon a poster for advancing ideas, due diligence, positive results, and the like for active members to gain from their contributions to the IHUB community. A great idea and valuable to both members who would like to commend another, and not so active members to check to see how much 'faith' they might want to give to another view point.

I recently observed a campaign on certain boards to bestow 'follower' marks upon one individual in order to propel said person up in status on the follower ratings page. This is what got me thinking about abuses to the system and how it might affect the member who is unsure of their investment, and by using the rating assigned is led to believe a member of high 'follower' count is some person of worth.

Obviously the system has been seen as a process to be 'gamed' to sway how a particular member is going to be perceived in the IHUB community.

It is a tricky dilemma in my opinion. While IHUB makes it quite clear that members are responsible for their individual investment actions and take very clear policy of stating so, by installing a system that posts a 'rating' for members, it has set up a scale of 'merit' that has little to no oversight.

By direct, or indirect, consequence this system has now become a bellwether for members to check on another members credibility. And the system has seen systemic abuse as of late in much greater proportion than the past IMO.

What I'm trying to get at in this long winded diatribe is this, since in my opinion rewarding 'follower' marks is a system that in theory is based upon credibility, but the system is being gamed by an individual or group to advance their agenda or sway other members perception, maybe it is time to rethink how it is presented to the IHUB community.

What I'd like to see is Admin consider either one of two things ( and any other suggestions are very welcome). The list of top 'follower marks' has become a way to achieve status either deserved or undeserved in the IHUB community. By removing the numeric scale grading system to view it removes how that member is 'rated' in relation to all other members.
This does not make IHUB intrusive into the process of whether the 'follower' mark is worthy, and marks are still bestowed that are seen in the profile of a member, but protects the new member, or less informed member, from using that #1 to infinity scale as a judgment tool.

The other process I have contemplated is that if the system has been set up to reward a member for actions that will sway investment decisions ( like I said, a consequence that must be taken into account since it is in direct conflict with the policy of this site), than a system would need to be installed as an opposing view. A 'black mark' per se.

The second system is prone to abuses too in my view and less desirable. But an argument can be made if a member is allowed to be awarded a positive mark, then a system should be in place to be awarded a less than positive mark also. And just putting them on ignore is not a counterbalance when one is visible to see by the community and the other is not. A numeric rating system for ignores is not available.

I'd like to point out this old post that I read recently ( by Matt/Admin) is what got me finally writing about this, it has been bothering me for a while...

This board is the most shameless pump board I've seen in a long time -- maybe ever.

You guys are posting absolutely garbage posts, clearly to promote the stock. It also "looks" like there's several of you that are being paid in some way but aren't disclosing.

All of you need to take a step back for a day or two and read the nonsense you're writing.

You should all believe what you're writing to be true and make sure what you're posting to the board isn't nonsense to hit the top of some active list/etc. Most of you have been on this site for a very long time and have earned major points (peoplemarks) for the valuable contributions you've made over the years.

I'm in shock to see the shameless touting and senseless babble some of you old time iHubbers are posting here. This is not what iHub is for -- nor what any of you have acted like over the last 9 years. iHub should be about friends/investors sharing DD - positive or negative - for the benefit of each other. This is absolutely not what is going on here.

I'm shutting down the board to think this through.

EVERYBODY wants more personmarks. There`s a right way...

and a wrong way to go about it though..

Using the board that gives out personmarks based on the three criteria I listed above in the I Box is definitely the wrong way to go about doing it.. It is basically underhanded and very misleading in my opinion..

Those are some NICE words to describe it.. I could use some other not so nice words for it, but I will let the rest of you fill in the blanks..

If a person wants to credibly build up their personmarks; get out there and work your tail off to do it..

I can think of several examples off the tip of my head of some good posters that worked hard posting due diligence, charts, and the such and amassed a nice personmark following doing so..


The moral of the story here is:

If you want more personmarks.. Start EARNING them !!

Begging for personmarks when the reason you do not have any in the first place is because people do not like you is pathetic.

The next board should be "Why are Boardmarks never removed?" Multiple aliases deleted, non-active posters, aliases created just to boardmark: all are never removed per iHub.

If they were, 600-800 boardmarked boards would go to 100-200 overnight.

Just showing my support for your forum.

I think the way personal marks are being abused takes away from the true purpose and spirit of why personal marks even exist.

Maybe it is time for the IHUB to consider allowing members to follow other members without keeping an actual public count of how many followers (member marks) each member has?
