Headway Corporate Resources Appoints New Chief Operating Officer


David S. Meyercord Selected to Oversee Organizational Strategy & Operations

RALEIGH, N.C., June 5, 2007 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Headway Corporate Resources, a full- service human resources solutions company that provides recruiting, staffing and HR support services to a range of business sectors, today announced the appointment of David S. Meyercord as Chief Operating Officer. In the new role, Meyercord will provide leadership, coordination, management, and vision to effectively streamline and grow the organization's operations.

Meyercord was also Senior Vice President, Investments at Irwin Ventures, where he was responsible for the Venture Capital portfolio. He was also responsible for Strategy and Corporate Development for Irwin Financial. Prior, Meyercord was Field Project Director for the Pan American Development Foundation in Haiti, and a Community Development Specialist for the United States Peace Corps in the Dominican Republic.

Meyercord's undergraduate degree from Wake Forest University was followed by an MA from the University of Florida and an MBA from University of Virginia.

Sakey was initially brought in as a turnaround
CEO in 2003, when Headway was going
through bankruptcy, partly as a result of
acquiring too much debt when it went public.
Within 18 months, Sakey and his investors and
management team took the company out of
bankruptcy, built a solid balance sheet, wiped
away the debt and overhauled the company’s
business model — all without losing a single
client. Not surprisingly, the company’s board
asked him to remain in the C-suite.
Sakey’s next move was to relocate the company
from New York City, where it was founded
30 years ago as the Irene Cohen Personnel Agency,
to Raleigh, in part to be closer to a big client
(Sakey wouldn’t name the company). For the
past year Sakey and his team of 70 headquarters
employees have been enjoying the view from
the 10th fl oor of the Bank of America building
on newly reopened Fayetteville Street.
