http://seekingalpha.com/article/253142-top-24-small-cap-stocks-being-chased-by-smart-money
The following is a list of small cap stocks, with market caps between $100M and $500M. All of these companies have seen significant institutional and mutual fund buying over the last two quarters.
If you're looking for small-cap exposure, this list might offer an interesting starting point.
The smart money seems to think there's more upside to these names. What do you think? Full details below.
Institutional data sourced from Fidelity, short float and performance data sourced from Finviz.
[...]
Hanmi Financial Corp. (HAFC): Regional Bank. Market cap of $201.1M. Net institutional shares purchased during current quarter at 6.7M, vs. 6.6M net purchases during previous quarter. Net mutual fund shares purchased during current quarter at 4.7M, vs. 2.5M purchased in the previous quarter. Short float at 2.25%, which implies a short ratio of 2.24 days. The stock has lost -32.49% over the last year.
Fair Close Today , some run off eod it appeared, mm still tryin to catch up on the short bags.
I will now be able to Thank you much for the alert, along time ago for HAFC.
Good one to you Bill, looking for some good Asian Stocks, of at least $1 per share.
Looking Sweet For me now, Go HAFC, make next quarter 25 cent a share Earnings.
I seen you first time over here today, bashing like mad, but as far as I know no one except an mm can short HAFC. So not sure what special broker you use, I tried to short ABKFQ at $3 Plus but no dice either.
http://messages.finance.yahoo.com/mb/HAFC
Finally added a chart in the box for hafc.
End of cc was said HAFC is doing the best in this ASIAN BANK USA STUFF.
HAFC has the plan going for EXpansion now not Contraction and Whoori maybe out , that's ok , they can get more per share now, the HAFC is coveted, this was also said by a good news artical LA times I believe. Said By a person at Wilshire Bank.
No matter they earned 4 cents , that's not POS at all they have made a huge dif in 9 months time.
They used the money very wise. Go hafc if you short, well that's you thing, I sure wouldn't short it here, maybe a day trade short when it hits 2 plus and than buy back again.
Last I checked Amertrade will not short this stock, so I don't know how our short less your the market maker also.
Amertrade won't short this one until 4 dollars I believe.
Easy short here, should head back down to 1.10
Dont forget, this company is a diluting POS company. Printed out 100 million shares back in june..
right now they are just dishing that out.
from 50 mil shares to 150 mil shares... this shouldnt even be passed a dollar right now
HAFC getting some activation
Hafc pull back 1.10 fill maybe, than up, I thinks very over sold
HAFC support is about 1.08 if you wanted to chance and wait or have and order in at 1.09 you may get filled, but it rocketed up a year ago in about 1 week and it may just be on the launching pad right now , we will see, if so I think $4 in short term is possible.
The big investment is still waiting approval, for another 200 million investment into hafc. I think they want it but don't need it, 22nd to 28th is earnings, think they will beat again.
Howdy! Looks like a good pick...I'm thinking about hopping in!
HAFC News update::
Hanmi Financial Corporation Enters Into Amendment No. 2 to the Securities Purchase Agreement With Woori Finance Holdings
LOS ANGELES, Nov 30, 2010 (GlobeNewswire via COMTEX) -- Hanmi Financial Corporation /quotes/comstock/15*!hafc/quotes/nls/hafc (HAFC 0.92, -0.03, -3.36%) (the "Company"), the holding company for Hanmi Bank, announced today that it entered into Amendment No. 2 ("Amendment No. 2") to the Securities Purchase Agreement, dated May 25, 2010, by and between the Company and Woori Finance Holdings Co. Ltd. ("Woori"), as previously amended by Amendment No. 1 ("Amendment No. 1") to Securities Purchase Agreement, dated September 30, 2010 (as amended, the "Purchase Agreement").
The Amendment changes the Outside Date (as that term is defined in the Agreement) from November 15, 2010 to December 31, 2010, frees the Company from exclusivity with Woori, and eliminates the Company's obligation to pay a termination fee. The Amendment allows the Company, if needed, to pursue further fundraising efforts and/or alternative proposals to acquire control of the Company.
In addition, the termination provision of the Agreement is supplemented by the Amendment to allow either party to terminate the Agreement in the event the Company sells any capital stock at a price per share less than a $1.20, and Woori to terminate the Agreement if sales of the Company's capital stock prior to the Closing (as that term is defined in the Agreement) would result in Woori acquiring less than 40% of the capital stock of the Company on an as-converted and fully-diluted basis at the Closing, assuming the sale at the Closing of 175 million shares of common stock of the Company to Woori at $1.20 per share.
Finally, the Amendment also provides for a release of the Company by Woori from liability for any losses that Woori may suffer on or after the date of this Amendment as a result of a breach by the Company of the capitalization or material contracts representations in the Agreement. Woori is released by the Company from liability for any losses that the Company may suffer on or after November 15, 2010 as a result of a breach by Woori of the knowledge of conditions representation in the Agreement.
On November 24, 2010, Woori informed the Company that on November 22, 2010, Woori filed a request with the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System ("FRB") that processing of the application Woori filed with the FRB on June 22, 2010 be suspended to allow additional information regarding Woori's U.S. subsidiary bank to be developed and provided to the FRB. The requested suspension will continue until such time as the FRB staff determines that processing of the application may continue.
"Woori has informed us that it is working diligently with its subsidiary and the subsidiary's regulators with the goal of receiving all required governmental approvals and closing its proposed $210 million investment in our Company," said Jay Yoo, President and Chief Executive Officer. "Woori indicated that the suspension allows it additional time to develop the requested information and address any issues raised by the subsidiary's regulators without requiring Woori to withdraw its application and restarting the application process from the beginning," added President Yoo.

I see others averaging in on the jump once sec or if they approve, it's a matter of instant debts to zero out, and put hafc back in the green machine mode, sill up in the air till gov does their thing though.
In a way like to see them not go for the free 200 mil dollars they are on track to get out of the mortgage delema, last quarter 20 million improved.
Short term though stock explosion, with infuse. With out more long term health, imo
Sec must have ask for an amended file, as filed today, not sure how long they will make hafc wait, you know the us gov sometimes drags there feet.
It is fairly expected to get approval, if so stock explosion to 3-4 bucks , my guess, won't hurt my fillings much either as I loaded da boats. Averaged in at 1.27
Here we go Bill last Filling Filling for today

I smell fish , nearly every closing is bought up at the ask, like making deals, mostly buys today, seems like reg approval should be getting here , it has the potential to completely smear out hafc debits, stock will light up if approval comes, don't know when seems it should already have regulatory approval for the worri buy in.
http://ih.advfn.com/p.php?pid=trades&symbol=HAFC&java_vm=sun&java_vm_ver=1.6.0_20

"HAFC News" UPDATE 2-S.Korea Woori to buy Hanmi Financial for $240 mln
* To buy minimum of $210 mln shrs at $1.20/shr
* Hanmi plans separate $120 mln rights offering * Hanmi to put "substantial" amount of proceeds into unit (Recasts, adds details, background)
SEOUL/BANGALORE, May 26 (Reuters) - Woori Finance Holdings (053000.KS) (WF.N) has agreed to buy a controlling stake in troubled U.S. lender Hanmi Financial Corp (HAFC.O) for up to $240 million, as South Korea's No. 3 banking group by market value moves to expand its operations in the United States.
Under the agreement Woori will purchase Hanmi common stock worth at least $210 million at $1.20 per share. The South Korean group has the option to buy an additional $30 million worth of common stock, Hanmi said in a statement.
Hanmi also plans to commence a separate $120 million rights offering and Woori is expected to own at least a majority of Hanmi when its deal closes.
Hanmi Financial intends to contribute a "substantial" amount of the net proceeds from the investment as new capital into its unit Hanmi Bank.
Hanmi Financial, which has been under regulatory orders to raise capital, had been required to increase its capital by $100 million and maintain a ratio of tangible shareholders' equity to total tangible assets of not less than 9 percent by July 31.
The Woori investment is subject to the approval of the Federal Reserve Board, the California Department of Financial Institutions and the Korean Financial Services Commission.
Earlier this year, Hanmi said its chairman had spoken to Woori, but had declined to comment on rumours that it was a potential takeout target. [ID:nN2276797]
The deal is expected to give Woori the opportunity to tap into the Korean-American community on the U.S. west coast, where Hanmi's bank unit operates, in addition to Woori's existing U.S. arm Woori Bank on the east coast.
The transaction is expected to close by July or August, pending approval from the authorities, a source close to the matter said.
