ZVUE Announces 50,000 Unit Order for Three New Media Players
Company Receives Orders for Three New Devices With a Sales Value of Approximately $1.75M Each to Be in Nationwide Retail Distribution in Q3
Last update: 8:30 a.m. EDT June 9, 2008
SAN FRANCISCO, Jun 09, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- ZVUE Corporation (ZVUE:
ZVUE 0.28, +0.08, +37.3%) , a global digital entertainment company, today announced that it has received orders for three new media players, each from a major national mass market retailer. The players represent the next in a series of planned product offerings that the company intends to bring to the market in 2008 as a part of its strategy to deliver value-based handheld media players that feature the latest in product design and are pre-packaged with compelling themed digital content from leading content providers. The company introduced this strategy earlier this year with the successful launch of its ZVUE Spirit personal media player.
Similar to the Spirit, each of the new players will be tied to a specific theme or promotion. Two of the new players are MP3 video players featuring a 2.4 inch screen, an FM tuner, photo slide show, voice recorder and expandable micro SD card slot. The third offering is a MP3 player which will feature 1 GB of memory with a voice recorder and built-in speaker. The company has received orders for approximately 50,000 units with a total value of approximately $1.75million. The company expects to deliver the players in third quarter of 2008. With these orders, ZVUE will have already received firm orders for nearly 100% of last years total unit volume and nearly 60% of 2007 sales with even more projects under development.
"The ZVUE products team continues to execute successfully its strategy to 'source, enhance and sell' ZVUE's unique and targeted pre-loaded product offerings," said Jeff Oscodar, president and CEO of ZVUE Corporation. "I'm thrilled that for the second time in three months we have received orders that will put new ZVUE products into mass market retail distribution."
ZVUE 0.28, +0.08, +37.3%) is a global digital entertainment company. Its Popsauce Network(TM) (comprised of eBaumsWorld.com, Putfile.com, Holylemon.com, UnOriginal.co.uk, YourDailyMedia.com, Dorks.com, FunMansion.com and ZVUE.com) is consistently among the top-five companies providing user-generated video online. ZVUE Announces the ZVUE Spirit Player, First in a Series of New Portable Media Players: Expects Growth in Product Business
Initial Order from Major National Retailer for Shipment in May 2008 Signals Positioning of Device Business for Significant Growth in Sales of Themed Handheld Players Preloaded with Digital Content
ZVUE Corporation (NASDAQ:ZVUE) a global digital entertainment company, today introduced its ZVUE Spirit, a patriotic-themed mp3 player pre-loaded with classic, popular patriotic-themed songs from leading popular artists. The player is planned to ship during May and be available in retail stores in time for Memorial Day weekend. A major national retailer has placed an order for more than 38,000 units which alone is expected to generate a substantial year-over-year increase in second quarter revenues and gross margin for the Company.
The ZVUE Spirit player is the first in a series of planned value-based handheld players featuring the latest in product design pre-packaged with compelling special-themed digital content from leading content providers. These new players will be sourced entirely through OEM manufacturing relationships while being designed and marketed by the ZVUE products team. The Company anticipates its handheld player revenues and unit sales will more than double in 2008. The projected growth should result in significant increases in gross margin for the ZVUE Products business in 2008 based on expected price points and volume levels.
“I’m thrilled that a major national retailer has made a significant commitment to our latest personal media player, the patriotic ZVUE Spirit,” said Jeff Oscodar, president and CEO of ZVUE Corporation. “I believe this order validates our strategy to ‘source, bundle and sell’ ZVUE’s unique and targeted pre-loaded product offerings. We source our products through select OEM manufacturers, bundle them with top-tier content from our content providers and sell them through established retail distribution channels, creating a scalable, valuable and low-risk model for our product business. This product business, in combination with the professional and user-generated content available online on the ZVUE Network, creates a powerful and exciting platform from which we continue to grow and capture new opportunities.”
“The ZVUE Spirit and the other products that we have planned are the result of our revamped ZVUE products business team,” continued Oscodar. “After streamlining our business model in 2007 by exiting the product R&D function, we recruited new management in December 2007 and are already seeing substantially improved results in product and business development, content relationships, sourcing and logistics and sales momentum. With the new leadership, revitalized team and early sales momentum, we are very excited about our prospects for 2008. Our product business including sales of new themed players is expected to continue to constitute a majority of our revenue mix during 2008.”
The Company will discuss these and other developments in its business in its conference call on March 25, 2008 at 2 p.m. PDT. Investors are invited to participate on the live call by dialing 800-218-4007. A webcast and presentation slides will be available by visiting the investor relations section of the ZVUE website at http://corporate.zvue.com/ir/. institutional buying happening now. Also seeking alpha.com has article today on what and why zvue is getting such attention. glta
Here we go. Just like last time. Last time they took it all the way down to a dollar. Next day began rise to the sevens. We will hear major announcement today at 4.pm and next week we hear the final numbers and the future goals. All which will send us flying high. My hope is that we hear of a major google connection being more than just blood related. glta
Its definitely trying to break open...buyers are there and this should continue to bid up today slowly. will we get any pops?
3.65x3.80 current line up! Let's see that $4 break today!!! eom
Ameritrade shows bid at .89. I hope that that is a mistake and that they left out the $3 before the cent sign accidentally. glta
Loving this one. I have had it as a board pick since they announced their share buy back. Looking for a 5 bagger here.
3.66 was hod! Looking to test the $4 level in p/m trading!!! eom
Tighten your seatbelts, ebaum deal to close this month, cash flow positive announcement due next month, company buyback,it is all looking very good. glta
and you know this how? do u have a link?
ZVUE will be 2-3 bagger next week....today's news is huge, plus 11M vol.
ZVUE BUYOUT 6 dollars +
are you still a moderator on this board? if so, i'd like to encourage some of the people on the yahoo zvue message board to come over here. too much unmonitored bs over there...
I sure hope that this rise will continue and hoping history repeats itself, that a major player wants zvue hook, line and sinker and we see 10 bucks real soon. glta
wish I OWNED SOME I heard through the grapevine that st logic holds half the float
I must be flying soon above 4 dollars !
sec filing out glta
You guys have to check out the ZVUE yahoo message board. Alot of rumors and innuendoes. Time to load up; the train is leaving tomorrow morning; don't get caught chasing.
Let's hope this billion dollar walmart deal will include zvue products and remember the maker of the hardware hails from China as well. I am hoping there is a lot going on behind closed doors that will be in our favor. glta as I hate seeing the pps drop any lower.
great article on zvue out today via Ant and sons. States handheld is not getting the credit it deserves from the mkt based on what it already has accomplished and more than likely will surpass the naysayers. glta
Thanks you very much, I appreciate your response. Do you happen to know who elses players they produce? I hope I am not pressing my luck. TIA
Eastech Electronics (Taiwan), Inc. is the manufacturer! It's in the SEC filings!!! eom
Can you update or give up this board? It is sick.......
Took all my pofits for now......GLTA
I've never seen them publish the name of who makes the player.
yes read releases especially at bottom, Also, zvue was in stock in time and sold well for xmas, just onsite error showing out of stock. Did u not lisren in or read minutes? GL
How many have they sold, or how many were they able to sell, but couldn't because they ran out, or couldn't get them? Do you know the name of the company that manufactures the player, or where they are assembled? Who designed them? The players are the only feature about this company I like.
If you check the site you will see IN STOCK for walmart online and stores. IMO when they issue the yr end summary they will have addendum showing positive ad contracts to further ensure their cash flow promises. gl
I won't take to bashing, I've said my piece. I hope you get something out of your efforts. By not supporting the shareprice when the death spiral started, they let the manipulators in (the 100 share guys) with very cheap shares. I don't even want to start with the increase in short activity (but it's ten fold in a month). Again, the little guy buys high, sells low, or holds the bag and sweats the end result. I don't like it, and am ready to pounce on a profitable (or break even) exit. Can they even supply the 2000 Walmart stores with enough product? What about Amazon.com? If they can't do that, how can we hope for them to add another distributor like a Best Buy or similar? These are the kinds of issues that (when addressed) can make a company take off like Apple did!! Apple was a $4 dollar stock when Steve Jobs took over and I have never seen a fluff PR from that man!! glty
I totally agree and I have written to investor relations requesting the very same. If you look at their video sites u will see quite a few ads from some major companies which via google looks very good for boosting revenue. I know the quarter report won't be brilliant based on recent investments made but future earnings should be spectacular imo due to lower overheads and massive audiences. It is the 100 share trades going on that angers me for each time we get a raise in pps another 100 share trade posts to knock it down. Direct numbers are a must from zvue now, Remember b.bush is also on the Towerstream board and that should have some pleasant consequences for us as well. IMO they have a strategy that will work out well for us. gl
ZVUE needs to put out numbers, instead of bullshit fluff PR's and CC's about spending millions of dollars they borrowed for more download sites, in addition to the millions of shares they gave up. Nobody even knows if those places make any money! It's Feb. and we haven't seen Holiday sales yet!! Management should get off their sorry asses and start to work. Just my pissed off oinion.
feeling the same way...just got back today....
Here it goes again eom
Well I was out for a bit only to come back to this debacle. Did I miss something in the cc? Online video in itself will be a 7 billion dollar arena in 07 and people are bailing at these prices? All the majors are going to need the content zvue has and will continue to harness. Once the names of these new sites get around, and they soon will, the income will be monsterous imo. It seems to me they will get more copy for their buck going thru avue than google and at a much better price. Zvue now expects cash flow by end of yr better than expected, how can you beat that? I don't get it. Hopefully on the 12th during the REDHAT convention they will release a bombshell? glta I'm sticking around as all I hear is good for the company. I was expecting speculater to trounce on the cc this am but I guess they couldn't find a reason to. glta
True... I am surprised they didn't PR the CC imo....glta
I don't think that it is simply coincidental that BBush is now also on the board of wifi global company Towerstream. glta
