Awesome race Larry!
He's a great one, for sure.
" Whadda Race ~ Whadda Race " .. !! Wire to Wire " .. !!
Brilliant Horse and Jockey...wire to wire he led...well done.
Tex, another furlong and the finish would have been pick your winner.
Trueheart
Yowser...looking at the track...you need to be a seahorse...LOL
Thank goodness only 8 in the race...which means...the starting gate position isn't much of a factor...IMO
They're going to need radar and water wings on the circuit. Calling the track sloppy is like calling the Mississippi a creek.
Trueheart
I'll try
Justify
Quip
Lone Sailor.
Sweet can't wait to hear the story...
Catch you laterzzzz
The track at Churchill Downs was sloppy and I hope that the talk of a fast draining surface at Pimlico holds up.
I have to get to the local history museum to do some work. Yeppers, my burg has an interesting story ranging from Native Americans to farmers (apples and peaches) to becoming a great place to raise kids. We're like Mayberry without Opie.
Take care.
Trueheart
And he has proven to be a good Mudder...going to be interesting...
I couldn't argue with that finish.
Justify is a damn muscular horse. He's impressive.
Trueheart
My Picks for the Preakness.
1) Justify
2) Quip
3) Good Magic
Should be an interesting race...not as crowded as the Derby...here's to no mud in your eye...
I second the motion, Tex.
A few of the entries, real horses, are getting into the race so they can try to spoil the run for the perfect three wins.
There ought to be a rule that says they all have to run in all the races! Damn atomic tests.
Trueheartea
Morning True,
Not many can Justify their entry...
Good morning, Tex.
Horses are dropping out of the Preakness like flies.
Bolt d'Oro, Audible, My Boy Jack, Instilled Regard, Hofburg and Mendelssohn won't be beating the turf. A lot of the Derby entries were there as long shot hopefuls and as bragging rights for owners who can say they had a nag in the race.
Trueheart
Agreed....THAT'S why I'm anxious...will show what Justify has
Yeppers, Tex, I'm more than curious about results coming in the Preakness. If anyone can get a horse to peak at the right time it's Baffert.
Trueheart
Guess they forgot to tell us...Justify trained with the Navy Seals...
Let's see what happens in two weeks.
Three inches of rain fell during the day, Tex. The horses needed water wings, SCUBA gear.
Justify proved to be the horse he has been touted to be. The horse is raw, a kid that can run and beat the best.
Bolt d' Oro didn't finish in the money, his fourth in a row not winning. I suspect he's going to stud perhaps after the Preakness if he even runs in the race.
Mendelssohn was dead last, eating mud for two minutes plus.
Trueheart
Could be the crowded track as well...I didn't see how he ran the race
For sure, guess he wasn't much of a mudder.
Thanks...what an amazing horse...if only Magnum Moon had come through..LOL
Congrats on your winner! Fav does it again.
OOPS...I tell you what...Justify is an amazing Horse...no shame in losing to him.
Was a great race...what a brilliant horse, and not a speck of mud on the jockey.
Just glad there were no injuries with that many horses.
My Boy Jack must be a Mudder? 30-1 to 5-1 now.
Hiya, Tex.
The field is always so darn crowded. It's a stampede at the start.
They should cut out the frivolous entries, cut the field down to 8-10 horses that can win if they have a good day.
Best wishes for a speedy run of the VISA saga.
Trueheart
I hear ya, It's a tough crowd this year again and I'm just trying to keep from falling back, like i do every year!
TY sir...now if I can just get going in NASCAR...LOL
Also good picks...GL
Mine are...
Magnum Moon
Audible
Justify
I just hope the weather holds up...supposed to be good me thinks
Morning True...I'm getting ready to visit the lawyer this morning...hopefully starting the final leg of the VISA saga...
Hey, Tex. Hope you're doing well.
That's a mighty fine list there. It would be hard to argue against the finish order you've come up with.
Justify is a strong horse without a lengthy resume. He has looked superbly good in his few wins, either running away from the field or meeting pressure with overwhelming response.
Good luck!
Trueheart
My trifecta for the Run for the Roses...
Justify
Magnum Moon
Good Magic
Sure thinking about Noble Indy as well...

Thank you Sir...I enjoy spreading good will...those old folks mainly want to tell their story...to anyone...
Lobbie and Stuffie are the ones that taught me to trade...can't say enough about them...
Still thinking of mining...just have to be able to sit down with #1 and go over it...one thing for sure....I won't be mining in Bolivia...THAT'S who is stealing your rain...LOL
Hope you enjoyed the ride...sounds like fun
Good day, Mr. Tex and all.
Your continuing gesture as the cookie man at the nursing home beyond the passing of your mother bespeaks you as a generous and kind man.
Ah, I do remember Stock Lobster and have warm memories of her posts. So many years ago. You and I must have been kids.
Are you still considering investing in one of the variations of bitcoin? It appears that daily prices are about as random and haphazard as a tornado's touch-down points.
By the way, I'm heading out on a bike ride on this sunny California
morning. It's about 65 outside and I won't have to be layered-up like Linus when he's out on a winter's day. 'Course we're paying for the weather with fires. We need rain!
Happy New Year, pard.
Trueheart
We have a partnership with PG&E for rebates when their customers install Nest thermostats...
The Nursing home is the one my Mamaw was in when she passed away...her last year when I brought her cookies on Christmas day I noticed how many were there and no family...so I started bringing the cookies then. It really is great to see them light up when I offer them cookies.
Remember Stock Lobster?? before she passed away she and her husband visited me on Christmas...they wanted to go with me...so they brought a Guitar...Amp and keyboard and we set up and sang Christmas Carols with them...it was fab...really enjoyed it.
Dianna is looking forward to next year when she can join in...
I won't even tell you the meat deals here...lol
Ah, you are a generous and thoughtful man.
Pacific Gas & Electric could be on the hook for the largest fire. Suits have been filed and more are coming. It may be that a sparking downed wire caused the conflagration. Santa Ana winds were blowing with hurricane-force gusts in the area. They admitted culpability a few years ago for a fire in Malibu.
The company's stock fell some 10% because of the prospect.
I believe the cause of the Lilac fire that killed the horses has yet to be determined. Rain hasn't fallen this season and the brush and forests are tinder dry, dryer than they were during our hot rainless summers.
Enjoy that steak. By the way, Costco has a deal on prime New York steaks at only $9.99 a pound. It ends tomorrow
Trueheart
Really sad to see them suffer like that...now were the fires started by storms??..or manmade??
Wish you a Merry Christmas as well
I will be taking my Cookies to the Nursing home I do every year...and later Grilling a Steak..
Good morning, Michael.
Yeah, the death of those horses in the Lilac fire was sad news. Several of the horses that died ran back into their stalls after being released in a stampede from the oncoming flames.
The Thomas fire that's been burning since December 4 is now the largest fire on record in California. They're looking at early January for 100% control.
On a market note, have you seen the volatility in bitcoin futures, Friday's action?
Wishing you and yours a wonderful and warm Christmas.
David
Damn...really hate hearing that...
At least 30 thoroughbred horses are dead in the Lilac fire in San Diego County. Many videos of horses stampeding from the fire.
Many horses taken to Del Mar.
Trueheart
Bolt d'Oro dominating in the Frontrunner Stakes finished 7-3/4 lengths ahead of Solomini.
Could be a great horse.
Trueheart
Santa Anita racetrack features five, count 'em, five $300,000 Grade I stakes races today. Bolt d'Oro runs in the FrontRunner Stakes. Baffert has two horses in the race, including Zatter who was beaten by Bold d'Oro in the Del Mar Futurity September 4.
Bolt d'Oro's rider will be ridden by Corey Nakatani. He's not Latino but despite that he stands a good chance to cross the finish line first.
Enjoy! And win.
Trueheart
Thanks K2 ---- classy horse / classy lady !
